I'm teaching some of this to my 8th graders because it takes the idea of poetry being singsong or quaint and completely picks it off like a scab to expose a bit of meat to the world. Brian is one of the most sincere poets I've read. There's no pretention here, just people story things and a bit of bitter tea.

This is the first Daldorph book I read. Warning: you will quickly become hooked on his snappy, unflinchingly realistic portrayals of life. This book tells very short, very relate-able, very real stories. You'll do yourself a huge favor to spend a little time with some Outcasts.
