It is not often I come across something that I feel I NEED to pass on… to everyone I know, but this book is one of those things. I love that "WHAT LIFE …?" has something for and will speak to everyone who takes the time to read it, wherever they are in life’s journey. From the title of Chapter 1, “What If?”, all the way through to the last words, “What life are you waiting for?”, this book grabs you and doesn’t let go. Pete Hise, through personal and real life stories of ordinary people, clearly and concisely unwraps the truth that God loves us like crazy, has dreams and plans for each of us that are bigger and better than we can ever imagine, and is asking, longing and waiting for us to step into them. Not a one-time read, but a book to hold on to and refer back to time and time again!

“The Clock Is Running, But It’s Not Too Late. The life you once dared to dream is still available to you. Pete Hise invites you to rediscover the shocking truth of the gospel that has the power to rebuild faulty foundations of identity and open your eyes to new realms of possibility. Isn’t it time to end the cycle of wishing and waiting for life to change – and to stop standing on the sidelines when God Himself is inviting you into the game?

What Life Are You Waiting For? Push Play On The Adventure God Has For You”

I’ll admit it… sometimes I wonder if this life I have is all there is. I wonder… was I created for more? When I surrendered my life to Christ, is this what God had in mind for me? Am I too flawed? Too ordinary? Do I not have much to offer? I found through reading this book that I am not the only one that wonders that. I’m happy to report that no, this isn’t all there is. By way of some wonderful stories, both the author’s personal stories and those of folks he’s met along the way… we do see that this isn’t all there is.

It took me longer than usual to read this book. Not that it isn’t interesting and doesn’t hold your attention. On the contrary… This is a wonderfully interesting and insightful book that, in my opinion, is going to require more than a cursory read. It took me longer to read this book, as I would have to take time after each chapter to reflect on what I had read and how it related to my life. I gained a lot of personal insight and I am looking forward to reading the book a second time… and who knows perhaps a third.

What Life Are You Waiting For? by Pete Hise is one of those rare books that can truly propel you into action. The description intrigued me:

"Have you ever stayed up late into the night, wondering if God has more for you than this? Do you keep saying you’ll “eventually” get around to the things you most dream of doing? I've read books with big concepts like this before that failed to deliver, so I picked this one up with a grain of salt at first - but it truly delivered. You will catch Hise's vision and desire to start now - not later, not when things are better, not when this or that happens - but right now. It's a super easy read that literally anyone could get through quickly. It's filled with compelling real life stories, examples, and practical helps for your journey. I'd recommend this book to every Christian.

I found the book What Life Are You Waiting For? to be one of those books that really gets to you and makes you think hard. This book is for all those out there who feel unsatisfied with their life because something seems to be missing but you don’t know what or what to do to discover it. The author tackles this topic using sports to explain key concepts, which will appeal to anyone who enjoys sports. Though I don’t like sports or have much experience with sports, I had no trouble understanding what the author was trying to say in his examples. I found the author to give practical advice that was relevant to my life and I really liked how he ended each chapter. Each chapter had a summary of the chapter’s topic and actions that you could do in your own life. Another thing, which I really liked about the book, is that the author pointed out that if we feel discontent about something, then our attitude is not where it should be and that we need to change it. Some of the attitudes that the author wrote about was the attitude of forgiveness, obedience to God, and not walking the self-made path. I thought this was a good book because not only did it make me realize how bad my attitude can be, but that the cause of my restlessness is because of my attitude and how I need to repent of it. This is one of those books that would benefit anyone who reads it because there is something that will speak to you.

The message of this book isn't theory - it's been field tested in my life. Over the past decade I've come to LIFE as a follower of Jesus by living out the principles featured in this book. And it's not just me. My wife, my brother, my mother, my father and countless other friends have "pushed play" on the life God made them for - and they are beautifully unrecognizable from who they used to be.

The central message of What Life is the idea that God uses our agreement... our cooperation with His limitless power to accomplish change in our lives. If He's ready to act, why should we wait? The more quickly and thoroughly we can say Yes to Him, the more our lives will become a rocket ride of purpose, growth, impact and friendship with Jesus.

I dare you to read this book with an open heart. You'll find the Bible coming to life in new ways. You'll be challenged to grow like never before. And you'll laugh REALLY hard. I'm so glad there's now a book to introduce the world to my pastor, Pete Hise, and the life-altering message God has used to fuel the Transformation Adventure at Quest Community Church.

Reading this book felt like I was having a conversation with the author. So many real-life stories cover these pages and I've purchased copies to give with specific people in mind. I'd have to say that the chapter titled, "Reality Check" really hit me between the eyes. But mostly, its about the genuine love of the Father... that He made me to love me.

This book reminded me that God is not dead. He is alive and working miracles in the lives of all who will give him a crack in the door. I was blown away by the crazy stories of how He has radically changed so many people's lives and brought redemption in the midst of extreme brokenness. I am going to keep this book close at hand, for whenever I need to borrow some hope!
