As an Unspeakable, Hermione has been tasked with a very complicated case. All the Marked Death Eaters in Azkaban are falling ill - Draco Malfoy and Theo Nott the worst among them. She has to find out why and cure them.
It’s not bad; the idea behind the plot is intriguing, but the romance is, in my opinion, unbelievable. Everything changed too quickly. Draco went from calling Hermione “Mudblood”, to sneakily holding her hand while watching a movie in 1 week, and being angry because he can't protect her at all times. Hermione is already feeling “things” for him, and it all feels too insta-lovey for me.
I have too many books and fanfics on my TBR to waste my time with this one if I can’t get into the romance. Especially since fanfics usually focus mostly on the romance.
I’ve been so tired and distracted recently I just couldn’t get into it. I was reading but not retaining anything so I had to stop. I’ll try again when my brain is working. Didn’t feel fair to rate it based off my poor brain functioning.
I loved this one start to finish. I genuinely didn’t want it to end and this author did such an amazing job of grounded, relatable writing and yet somehow constructing intricate webs of the problems and solutions that would come full circle (like Draco moving to Switzerland in the end to get off the island). While neither Draco or Hermione were my favourite versions ever written in fanfiction, this fic hit all the right tropes and notes. Theo was perfect and heartbreaking and beautiful in this. From the start with the mysteries that Hermione was given to solve regarding the dark mark and the dark energy at hogwarts, this one had just the right amount of mystery and true comfort. The premise was genius- I loved Hermione spending time with and falling in love (in different ways) with Theo and Draco. Draco of course remained his perfect Slytherin but oh so in love self and I especially enjoyed that Ron was a decent and smart guy in this. The supporting cast of characters were brilliant from journalist Luna to healer Padma and meddling potter girlfriend Pavarti. Honestly in my top 10 fics and so well written. Felt like my favourite book I didn’t want to end.
