I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. Thanks for choosing me.

This story broke my heart open. It is beautifully written, has stunning descriptions that made me feel like I was right there in the middle of it all.

I'll need some time for my heart to mend after this one. The ending was exactly how it should be.

Touching and heartbreaking, heartwarming, and emotional. I'll carry these characters and this story with me forever.

“Beyond the Vineyard” follows veteran Henry Grant, who is suffering from PTSD and attempting to bring some normalcy to his life outside of the military following a horrific accident by becoming a storm tracker for a local news station. With his new career beginning, Henry is simultaneously trying to navigate a new love interest with leading news anchor Audrey Evans. I enjoyed that this story had healing, some romance, and a peek into what people with PTSD go through on a daily basis as they navigate through everyday life. I wish the characters had been a little more developed as I liked them but I wanted to know more about them. I also think the story needs some additional proofreading to really nip any errors in the bud. Overall this was a pleasant and fairly quick read, and I definitely enjoyed going along for the ride of this brief period of character Henry Grant’s life.

This was my first love / romance novel written from a man’s point of view. The author was so descriptive in his writing showcasing details that lead into a deep love. At one point Henry is watching Audrey at work from afar “She slowly and gently pressed her right thumb, index, and middle fingers together. Then she calculatedly reached up and caressed her right ear as she pushed the hair behind it, guiding her fingertips over the outer lobe. The movement appeared in slow motion.” This novel is the love for the ages story between two character with a big age gap and life experiences. At the end of the book the author writes “She was the one who taught him about love. Something deeper and more complex than he could’ve ever imagined.”

This is a beautifully written sad book about Henry and Audrey. They meet when Henry gets a new job at a television station. Henry is immediately attracted to Audrey, an anchor on the station. She is older than him and more seasoned.

Henry lives with his parents and brothers on a ranch and they have a vineyard. Beyond the vineyard is "The Big Window", a rock that they sit on overlooking a river by there house.

Audrey is Henry's first love and first woman he's slept with. They have a beautiful time together until tragedy strikes.

I hate to leave a star rating for this book because I had to DNF it. I couldn't get through it due to the amount of detail being shared. I understand that it helps give you a vision of what you are reading, but I feel like it was over done on this book. I couldn't even concentrate on what was even happening in the book because the description of rooms/people/etc just went on and on. I'm sorry, this book/type of writing was just not for me.

I received a free copy of this book from a Goodreads giveaway.

I really wanted to finish this book, but I ended up needing to DNF it. The language was flowery to the point that the story was lost in descriptions, and characterization of the main lead seemed inconsistent. I like the premise of the story, which is why I entered the giveaway, but I think more editing would benefit the story greatly.

didn’t love it

I hated the female lead, I felt like she was wishy-washy to the point of being manipulative. The whole book read like it was from a highschoolers point of view. I know the male lead is portrayed as young and naive but he’s not so young that the writing style needed to be that juvenile.
