"You are now part of the serverless ecosystem. Go forth and prosper!" (c)
I absolutely enjoyed reading “Serverless Development on AWS”, and in my opinion, it is an absolute game-changer for anyone interested in serverless architecture!
I found myself referring to this book quite frequently during my day-to-day job when I was about to work on designing a new part of a serverless system. Beyond information about popular architectural patterns and communication strategies, the authors cover quite extensively security, testing strategies, observability and other important topics that every serverless engineer should know about.
In addition, these two aspects I found useful:
- Useful templates for Solution Design and Threat Modelling. The solution design is a true gem, I wish I discovered it sooner.
- Interviews with industry experts - Architects, AWS Heros, Community Builders.
Despite the name of the book, I believe it will be useful for developers regardless of the cloud provider they use, because, primarily, this book teaches you to… think, and gets you into the right mindset to build serverless applications. It also provides absolutely invaluable insights about serverless adoption if you didn’t have a chance to participate in it yourself.
Long story short, I’m actively recommending this book to all my colleagues who started their serverless journey!
