My name's Heidi Rice, I'm a USA Today Bestselling author. I'm married with two sons (which gives me rather too much of an insight into the male psyche!).

I love my job because it involves sitting down at my computer and getting swept up in a world of high emotions, sensual excitement, funny feisty women, sexy tortured men and glamourous locations where laundry doesn't exist ...

I also tutor a 14-week in-depth online Write a Romance Novel course. So, if you have ever wanted to learn how to write romance from a bestselling author, check it out here: www.profwritingacademy.com/course/wri...

Now I believe wholeheartedly that readers should give honest and open reviews on Goodreads and Amazon and elsewhere. If you didn't like a book you are entitled to say so (even if it's mine! ouch). But you may notice that none of my book reviews are less than four-stars. That's simply because as an author myself I know how pathetically sensitive I am about bad reviews and with that in mind I prefer to spread the love among other authors — and don't do public reviews of books I didn't like. Just thought I'd clarify that!

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a passionate, steamy and charming story! I believe that this is my first Harlequin book that I’ve read/finished too. I’m so glad I saw my GR friend Jenny’s review that led me to this book.

I often found myself thinking as I was reading that the conversations, the vulnerabilities, insecurities and reactions were all so relatable and believable. And both characters were easy to root for.

The hero came from poverty and worked his way into a billionaire businessman status. He was definitely not a virgin, was most comfortable with one-night stands and certainly knew his way around the bedroom. He was also allergic to saying I love you (but he was never cruel about it). He was not a caveman screaming ‘Mine, mine, mine’ every 5 seconds. He didn’t not even partake in dirty talk that I recall. And absolutely nothing came across as porn wanna-be sex scenes. But they were still hot descriptive scenes, you could sense his urgency and desperation to …join as one.😍

And that’s what I think lots of newer romance books are missing. It’s filled with tons of dirty talk, shock value sex scenes (which all serves its purpose in its own way) but the passion is sometimes missing and we don’t actually get to feel the desperation and urgency jumping off the pages. I love to see the hero just about lose his shit over his little lady 😍

Heroine was a daughter of some Lord. (Setting is in London, btw). She was a virgin, extremely lacking in confidence because of her bully father. She was a sweetheart and I found all of her decisions and reactions to be level-headed and reasonable (and not doormat’y).

From chapter one:
She gulped down the ball of heat forming in her throat as he leant closer and whispered against her earlobe.
“FYI, I want to kiss you senseless right now, Beatrice.”
She choked out a raw laugh, the confidence she’d struggled to locate for so long firing through her system like a drug. She lifted her arms and clasped his broad shoulders. Then ran her fingernails across his nape, thrilled by his shudder of response.
“FYI,” she whispered back as she pulled his head down to hers. “Why don’t you, then?”
He chuckled. And she felt like a superhero, before his mouth found hers...

There seems to be a book that comes before this one, with her sister Kate as the heroine. I think it is A Baby for Wolfe, and I’m definitely going to read that soon as well.

The title has verrrrrrrrrrry little to do with the story, so much that I feel explaining the title would spoil the story so I won't.

Thank you my dear friend Lori for recommending this interesting book ^^ It was lovely but it frustrated me with sheer unreason in the second half (from her moving to Italy and forward on), But I guess such shenanigans are the trade mark of harlequin books.

Ticking the square of a romance book recommended by a GR friend^^ ^^

A cute read

This was a good book. The h is an insecure woman because of her imitating father, he is a bully and wants her to find a rich man. The H is a self made billionaire who has childhood trauma, he is closed off e

I'm not really sure how I feel about this.

It wasn't bad.. but the blurb was completely misleading and some of the logistical stuff made zero sense. One can only suspend reality so far.

If the blurb had been honest and the situation with her sister was properly addressed/executed then this would've been a solid 4 or 5 star read bc despite the logistics not making any sense I was still feeling the vibe lol so points off for lying.

Pregnant. Disgraced. Disowned by her family. Alone for the first time, Bea is doing whatever it takes to protect her unborn child. But coming face-to-face with Mason throws her plan into chaos. Because he has his own…demanding Bea return to London with him!

I liked it. Mason and Bea had a great connection.

I think they would have ended up together even if Bea hadn't been pregnant. Mason spent 5 months searching for her and was celibate the whole time. He was searching for her in case she was pregnant, but his thoughts indicated that he was also searching for her because of how drawn to her that he was and also because of some guilt with how he treated her just before she disappeared. With the connection they had I'm sure he still would have pursued her and dated her til he realized he loved her.

What I didn't love was when Bea was fighting to stay working her below minimum job as a housekeeper and wanted to raise their child in a trailer. It felt like she was being unreasonable for no good reason. Like her baby's father is rich as well as her brother in law and she's trying to raise a baby in a trailer?? She was great after that though, she made reasonable decisions and when he confessed what he did (to get her to go along with his plans of living in London near him, by calling paparazzi) she didn't get over the top mad and leave him.

I liked that she had growth from who she started out as (a bit of a pushover and didn't know how to do anything), but was not a completely different character by the end of the book. P.

Tropes : misunderstanding, ONS, accidental pregnancy
Ending : HEA (married with a baby girl)
Triggers : death of a parent, child neglect, child abuse
Spice: 🌶️🌶️/5
Angst: 🔥🔥🔥/5
OM/OW drama: none
Celibate while separated: yes
Standalone/Series: can be read as a standalone

Hero: Mason Foxx
Heroine: Bea Madford

Both MCs had bad childhood. The drama revolved around a misunderstanding and as usual the h ran away from the H.

I prefer the H to be warmer towards the whole pregnancy thingy but he was supposed to be the aloof terrified guy dictated by the past. I liked the h, she was pretty sweet and she proved herself to be a strong woman by trying to paved her own way.

The ending was cute, set 1 year later with them spending time with the 8 month old baby.

Meh - This started out with a fun one-night stand and then turned into a women's fiction female empowerment book with Bea becoming a maid at a run down inn. And then she's just kind of passively hanging out with the billionaire at his house doing nothing.
