Trollope's attention to human emotion surpasses time and place. Slope reverts to his origins. The ladies and gentlemen to theirs. Dr. Arabin succeeds to what must be a predestined place as Dean of Barchester Cathedral. And the kind cellist lives out his life after introducing Quiverful to the old age home.

I really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't until I was about sixty percent through it. There was so much about clerical politics. Once, the story came into it's own, the characters came alive. I loved the character names!! Mrs. Proudie, Mrs. Lookaloft, Dr. Rerechild what a hoot!!

I love Trollope. This was about clerical intrigue and backstabbing - a lot of fun.
