“Who am I? For all intents and purposes, I am the nice guy; the loyal brother and decent citizen. I am quiet and non-confrontational. I am the brother nobody worries about and can always depend upon. To my family, I am the good one. However, that’s only what they see on the outside.” ~ Jeremy Evans
Outwardly, Jeremy Evans is a typical guy, the calmest of the Evans brothers. He’s obsessed with cars, enjoys the company of beautiful women, and is devoted to his family. Inwardly, however, Jeremy is a ticking time bomb. Torn between what’s right versus what’s wrong. When the attempted rape on Darcie occurs, Jeremy finally loses the battle within himself. The pure hatred for Sulfur Heights consumes him and escape is all he thinks about.
Three years later, he is secretly engrossed by the drug-infested underworld. Jeremy’s double life leads him on dark and sinister paths of drugs, violence and rage.
The Evans family is destroyed after Presley’s murder and consequently Jeremy’s arrest. He’s sent to prison where he’s forced to survive with the mistakes he’s made on his conscience. However, only one thought lingers. It consumes the years he spends locked in a cell. Retribution.
Cami Ryker used to have a picture perfect life. She was loved by her family and happy with her life until her brother’s sudden death tore her family apart. Cami is forced to care for her ailing mother and assume the responsibilities of a normal adult. However, when the bills are paid and her mother is tucked away for the night, Cami likes to cloud her mind in order to escape her daily struggles. Late one night, a stranger trolling the streets rescues her in a dark alley. The mysterious stranger will become one of the most important people in her life until the day he’s sent to prison.
Four years later, Jeremy is released and seeking redemption for his mistakes, but the betrayal is still thriving amongst the Evans family.
Will Jeremy finally find the solace within to gain the forgiveness from his family that he desperately craves? And is it possible for Jeremy to save those he loves and exonerate himself in the process? **Mature Content Warning** 17+ for language and sexual content**
M.S. Brannon was born and raised in the Midwest. She still resides there today with her wonderful husband and son. When she is not writing or reading, M.S. Brannon spends time with her family, watching movies, and discovering new music. She writes romance because she believes love and heartache is the rawest emotion one can experience.
I know I have begun each review I have written about this series with the phrase, “She has done it again.” Well…she has not just done it again, she has surpassed even that. M.S. Brannon continues to amaze me with every book she writes. While I love every book she has written, this is by far my favorite!
This is the story her fans have all been waiting for; it is about the quiet, reserved Jeremy Evans. He has been a secondary character in previous novels, and we don’t really know much about him until we get surprised in an earlier book. He is not what he has been portrayed to be. In fact, he is the polar opposite! Redeemed Love is told in two parts. Part I is about his life prior to prison and why he made the choices he made which led to his sentencing. It also details his friendship and budding relationship with the beautiful, strong Cami. Part II is about his life after prison and how he tries to make amends to his family and Cami. I won’t write anything else about the book because you need to read and devour it for yourself. Just be prepared for a rollercoaster of emotions!!!!
M. S. Brannon has created a phenomenal book. It’s filled with darkness, danger, romance, steamy sex, love, forgiveness, with sprinkles of faith weaved within the pages. It takes a great writer to take all these things and create the story that she has. Be prepared that once you start reading it, you won’t be able to stop. It kept me my attention from the first page until I finished the last sentence in the epilogue.
The characters are well developed. I have liked all the female characters of her books. However, Cami is my favorite. She has endured more than her fair share of heartache and loss during her short life. Yet, she not only survives but manages to thrive in her situation. And where do I even begin concerning Jeremy? The only thing I can say is that he is one of the most memorable characters I have come across in a very long time. I guarantee readers won’t quickly forget him either. He is a walking contradiction. He is filled with such darkness and turmoil and hides it so well that his family doesn’t even notice the violence just simmering below the surface. The author creates a completely separate, believable character when describing the dark beast that resides within Jeremy that he struggles to keep hidden. Yet, as he harbors this dark monster inside of him, he has this incredible love for those who are important to him. You can especially see this in his relationship with his family and Cami. Brannon has created such a complex, multi-layered character, and she reveals those layers perfectly.
Redeemed Love is by far the best book that she has written. It has been a pleasure to watch her grow with each book she writes. She is one of the most underrated indie writers out there today. It is my hope that this book will get her the attention she rightly deserves. While I love New Adult and Contemporary Romance, so many of them follow the same format. This is not the case with M.S. Brannon. She writes from the heart and about real life issues. Seriously, who could write a series about people who live in a crime-ridden town and have such dark, painful pasts yet the characters find love, happiness, and purpose in these conditions? That, my fellow readers, takes a gifted, talented writer, and M.S. Brannon has that in spades! Thank you again for a book that crosses genres and takes us to unexpected places.
This book was seriously bittersweet for me! I have watched this series grow from the beginning and to see it end! It took me a while to finish it. I just wasn't ready to let go of these characters! I don't think I still am... But I can go back and reread any one of them when I want.
M.S. Brannon did it again... And again and again and again. She just took Jeremy and made him the best story of the entire series. Not that I don't love Reggie, Drake and Jake, but Jeremy, his story just had so much more! It is an incredible story that needed a lot of explaining and M.S. finally brought it all to the table for us.
As you read these books, you see a little bit of each other character through the main characters eyes... And finally seeing Jeremy from his eyes and finally understanding the little bits and pieces we have been seeing throughout the other books in the series is just amazing. Reading everything that had been happening with Jeremy completely changes our outlook on him.
The raw emotion and love this character has. The beast inside but then yet the side of him that loves his family and loves the girl he saved time and time again, you are reading about two different people. It is fascinating! Jeremy has lived this double life for so long and when shit finally hits the fan, all hell breaks loose.
This story will take you where no other has gone before. It is a love story but it is also a story of life... And what can happen when good people get involved with the wrong people but for good intentions.... It is a life style that can change anyone.
This entire series is amazing and I hate it that readers out there don't know more about these books and this author! You are seriously missing out!
M.S. has her way with words, she knows how to use them and knows when and where they will sink in the most. She is a completely raw emotional writer and gets into her readers minds and hearts. I can't say enough about this author. She is an amazing person and writer and lovers her readers to death!
If you have not read any books in this series, I HIGHLY recommend these books! You will be sorry for not knowing about them sooner! And watch for her RomCom coming this fall!
Finally, Jeremy's story is here & definitely wasn't prepared for what I just read. I am so fangirling over Melissa right now. Que the *blushing*
This is by far the best book in the series & listed as my Top 5 fave reads since I have started reading 3 yrs ago (read over 760 books in that timeframe).
Melissa, you are so talented & fabulous! Every book gets better & better. You are blowing up the Indie Author World! It would be even more awesome if this could become a small mini series or movie!
Oh boy, I had been waiting for this book, tummy tingling with anticipation, and it did not disappoint.
Everyone who's read this series was probably shocked as hell at the surprise Jeremy threw on everyone at the end of Tragic Love. Then we caught a little more glimpse in Blind Love. And then felt all the hate Drake felt for Jeremy in Surviving Love. Then there was that mysterious letter Drake never opened.
Who was Jeremy Evans? What compelled him to do something so dangerous, something that his family had experienced in the past and were so against that Reggie instilled his hate for it when he raised the boys? What the hell had Jeremy been thinking? Why? Why? Why?
Well, you get all these answers and then some. You get a life similar to Blow. Drugs, sex, money, death, drug lords, secrets, secrets, secrets. So many secrets. I mean, Jeremy was always the quiet one, except when he drank, which we learned and saw in Scarred Love that he can't handle and quit doing, but wow, did he take the "quiet one" to extreme. You know what they say about the quiet ones? Um, yeah, true to every extent in this book!
This book starts when Jeremy was 18, right after Darcy was attacked by that douche bag (taking Jake's slang now). His life in the "underground" is shown up to Presley's death and his arrest. End of PART ONE!
PART TWO! Fast forward an X amount of years (yeah, I don't like to give anything away. Not sorry), and Jeremy has to face the real world once again. And wow, have things changed! Surprise, Jeremy! I hope no one sees this coming because it's just...lol! Yeah, *smh* you just have to read it!
Jeremy encounters EVERYONE in part two. He can't ignore his family. He has to REDEEM himself and his actions. The question is, does he? Will he find redemption? Or, will his excuses just dig him a deeper hole? I mean, you can't excuse what you did. There is always a choice. Will Jeremy realize this?
What can I say about this book? This is Jeremy’s story and its freaking AMAZING!!! In this book we learn so much about Jeremy and his demons. We learn why he chose the path he took and how much it cut him deep inside. We also learn that Jeremy has always had the love of his life right by his side. Jeremy’s stint in prison did nothing to curb the beast within. Learning he left a bit more behind than he originally thought is what finally starts to calm the beast and make Jeremy into a better man. I loved this story, I can’t even express how much. This was definitely MS Brannons best story yet!! I highly recommend this entire series to the readers! You will NOT regret it! 5+++ stars for this one!! Love you Melisssa!! Keep doing a fabulous job!!
BEST SERIES EVER! this book is perfect..M.S.Brannon keep amazing me..i don't have much to say you have to read it..this is a heartbreaking book and also a hope giving book. i cried alot while reading Jeremy's letter ..i wanted him to have the peace he deserve and the peace i also needed after reading this series what i loved about it the most is how strong their family mean to each one of them..it would disappoint me if it end up broken..so thank you beautiful writer for these breathtaking books.
I knew that this was going to be a gut-wrenching journey...... M.S. Brennan has a way with words, and I felt it from the first page, of the first book. I didn't think it could be any more beautiful, heart-wrenching, but I was wrong..... THIS.WAS.AMAZING!!!
I LOVED the journey, and forgiveness with Jeremy. He will pull at your heart, and grip it for every breath you take.
Lots of Tears and Lots of Smiles!!!
Series order: Scarred Love Tragic Love Blind Love Surviving Love Redeemed Love
and coming soon (Fall 2014).... Everlasting Love!!! I can't freaking wait!!!!!!!!
Jeremy’s story is a dark but necessary addition to the Sulfur Heights series. After he turned his family’s world upside down in BLIND LOVE, it’s only been a matter of time before we needed to hear Jeremy’s side of the story.
If you’ve read any of the Evans brothers’ stories, you know that each of the Evans brothers would do anything for their family. Even with Jeremy, who was always a bit more mysterious and reserved even to his own family, there was never a doubt that deep down he had the best of intentions where his family was concerned. But after Jeremy was arrested by the DEA for being a drug dealer and the brothers realized he’d been connected to Carter, the family wondered if they’d ever really known Jeremy at all. Jeremy had struggled with the darker parts of himself for a long time and had only been comfortable letting a few people see both sides of him. His family saw the good, reliable Jeremy. The drug world saw the dark and murderous Jeremy.
But Cami knew both sides of Jeremy and loved him completely. From the moment she’d first laid eyes on him, she knew he was different. After he saved her life, Cami knew he’d been put in her life for a reason and she wasn’t going to let him go, no matter how hard he pushed. Before Jeremy went to prison, he insisted Cami leave Sulfur Heights and move on with her life. He knew she deserved better than he could give her and he didn’t want her waiting for someone who might never make it out of prison alive. But when he’s released and returns to Sulfur Heights to finally come clean to his family, he realizes just how much his choices have impacted everyone he loves. Each person in the Evans family is forced to face old wounds and Cami must decide once and for all if Jeremy’s good side can prevail or if he’ll always be ruled by his darkness.
The Sulfur Heights series has always dealt with dark subject matter, but these last few books in the series seem to be increasingly heavier as a whole. While Darcie faced unimaginable horrors in SCARRED LOVE, there was always the hope that Reggie could save her. But Drake’s second story in SURVIVING LOVE and Jeremy’s story in REDEEMED LOVE were on a different level. Drake was so buried in pain and grief that I couldn’t help but feel helpless along with him. Jeremy is so sure he doesn’t have any redeeming qualities that even I started to question if he could ever find a happily ever after. Is there ever a point of no return? For Jeremy, it certainly seemed like he might have crossed it.
M.S. Brannon once again refused to shy away from the darkness and for that I appreciate her bravery. If, like me, you read multiple books in the Sulfur Heights series in a row, you might need a couple rainbows and sunshine books afterwards to recover, but I’d still strongly recommend the series. It is dark mixed with hope and above all highlights a family that has faced every adversity imaginable and chose to face their hardships together rather than allow their struggles to tear them apart. The series concludes in the fall of 2014 with EVERLASTING LOVE, the Evans family epilogue, and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Brannon has in store for this incredible family.
**Complimentary copy provided by the author/publisher for an honest review.
Overall this series has had me hooked from the start , I am deeply in love with this family and although some of their struggles lead them to do horrible things they are fiercely loyal and their emotions are very raw and easy to feel and relate to.
Jeremy , sweet , innocent and quiet Jeremy , damn... He is anything but , now we finally know his secrets. Just when you thought you had seen the worst for any one of these characters we get Jeremy's story. Reading about his time in the underworld is heartbreaking. The troubles he went through and the crap he had to do just to get money in the hopes of getting his family out of that god awful town. The fact that he fell in love with the one girl he never should have. The horrible connection he has with Presley's death and the way that weighs on the whole family is almost too much for anyone to handle. There are so many forces stacked against him and in the end he stands strong , protects his family despite their anger and does the only thing he can to get out of this life and hopefully in the end get his family back. He makes his deal with the devil and takes his punishment.
For 4 years Jeremy suffers at the hands of prison , he is tortured , beaten and also does a lot of torturing and beating. It is not an easy read , some of it made me sick. Never did I see this going this way and I honestly hated who he had to become , but I also understand why he did it. You cannot go through that type of experience and stay who you once were. Sadly Jeremy will never be the same. Having no clue what is going on with his family and love of his life he battles through his time with one goal in mind. As much as he hates doing it Jeremy has to ignore contact with anyone from outside and he knows this will be one more reason for them to be angry with him.
Jeremy is released and back in the real world. He quickly finds out his family is able to forgive , all but one person. He also finds out that Cami never left and as Jeremy works to fix his relationships with his brothers he also decides to get back what he and Cami shared. Jeremy is shocked to find out just how much some things have changed while he was gone , but this one major shock is just what he needs to get his mind right and work towards becoming the best he can be.
It is great to see where everyone is with their relationships !! Reggie and Darcie seem to be happy and finally able to have some peace and alone time. Jake and Delihla may be working towards their own happily ever after. Even Drake is starting over with his daughter and Zoe. Once the truth comes out and Jeremy is able to face his family and let them know what he has done the healing can begin. I must admit I was pretty emotional at the end. These books were written well and I really did love the series. I am hooked and want more. I want total happiness , lots of kids and lots of sex !!!!!! Damn that hood of the car in the rain scene...................
This was the book that I was waiting for! Having read all of the previous books in the Sulfur Heights Series, I came to know and love the Evans brothers. Jeremy Evans was the one brother that always remained somewhat of a mystery. He was the quieter brother, the milder mannered brother, the brother who kept to himself. I knew that there was something brewing inside of him, some secrets that were going to finally be revealed and I couldn’t wait to find out!
M.S. Brannon delivered another fabulous installment to this series. I have been a Sulfur Heights junkie right from the first book and I have been gladly feeding my addiction ever since! Investing time in a series makes you feel as though you know all of the characters. I have the seedy, filthy, crime infested town of Sulfur Heights pictured in my mind. I have smiled, gasped, cried, and loved right along with all of the members of the Evans family. I was so ready to step inside of the mind of Jeremy Evans.
The Evans family has seen its share of misfortune, tough breaks, and heartbreak. Jeremy Evans is no exception. His actions and his choices have wreaked havoc in his family life. Despite his good intentions to help his family get out of the cesspool which is Sulfur Heights, he turned to the one thing that his brothers were so adamantly against. He is a criminal who has done the unthinkable and now he is paying the price.
Upon his release from prison, Jeremy heads back to his hometown and to his family. He realizes that the road to forgiveness will be a bumpy one, but his family has always meant the world to him and he wants nothing more than to connect with them again.
His brothers weren’t the only people left behind when Jeremy was sentenced to prison. Cami was a light that shone in Jeremy’s otherwise dark world. They had a friendship, a connection, a bond, and an attraction to each other despite what was occurring around them. He wanted nothing but peace, security, and happiness for Cami and he would sacrifice anything to make sure that she got it.
The things that I learned about Jeremy shocked me. People always say that you have to watch out for the quiet ones…and I guess they are absolutely right. He had a lot of anger, rage, and hate festering beneath his deceptively calm exterior which only complimented his criminal life. Deep inside, he was still the same car loving, family oriented man who just wanted to be accepted back into their lives and find a little slice of happiness.
I truly enjoyed this book. It provided me with a lot of answers to the questions that I had. I am always happy to return to Sulfur Heights, but always sad when that visit comes to an end. Despite the fact that the Evans family may scream dysfunctional at best, they demonstrate that you don’t have to be a conventional family to be a family. They stand by their family members and love them to the extreme.
Redeemed Love was awesome. I never would have imagined that Jeremy would have such an interesting life. Much of the beginning of the novel took place before even the events of Tragic Love, so to think that Jeremy was involved in some of the things he was involved with while we’ve been enjoying everyone else’s story was kind of crazy. I think we were all kind of blindsided by the events of Tragic Love and Jeremy’s involvement in that. We wanted his point of view and that’s exactly what we got in Redeemed Love. His story was full of violence, murder, mayhem, loyalty, and love. I loved it.
I think Redeemed Love was a lot longer than the books in the rest of the series, but the timeline was a lot longer, so much had to be said. M.S. Brannon delivered in this book because I think we all wanted to know everything about Jeremy after what happened in Tragic Love. What happened to lead up to that? What was going through his head? How was prison? Had he changed? What was he doing? The author gave us the answers we wanted and a love story that rivaled the others. I loved getting Jeremy’s point of view before getting arrested, but I loved seeing him get out of prison and adjust as well. How would he cope with the family, especially with Drake? How would the Evan’s heal?
Redeemed Love is Jeremy’s story as we never expected. It made me gasp, cry, laugh, and it tore my heart out. Hands down, Jeremy is the most interesting member of the Evan’s family (but Jake will still be my favorite and I loved his character in Redeemed Love, too.) He was violent and caring at the same time, much more so than any other brother. His love story was dangerous, passionate, and definitely exciting.
Once again, M.S. Brannon created an amazing story. Not only is the romance hot and steamy, the action violent and twisted, but the Evan’s family captivates me completely. Watching the way they all interact with each other, the way the love each other, and the way they fight each other keeps me coming back for more. The Evan’s family is unique and they are what sets this New Adult Contemporary Romance series apart from other novels in the genre.
I cannot wait to read the finished copy. I highly recommend this series. It is gritty. The characters are far from sophisticated. They fight, the cuss, they hurt others, but they love with a fierceness that baffles me and I love them for it. This series is unforgettable and Redeemed Love may be the best novel in it yet!
This story follows the way Jeremy Evans feels he has to live his life.
Jeremy Evans is leading a double life but he feels like there is no other choice. He feels like he has to do something in order to get his family out of the place they are at.
Cami is a woman who has to take care of her mother because tragedy struck and has left her unable to deal with life. Cami tries to escape reality sometimes just to get a break. She worries a lot about her life and mother.
Jeremy never intended to let things get as far out of hand as they have. He is working for a guy named Matt which happens to be Cami's uncle. When Jeremy first saw Cami she was at her uncle's house where Jeremy was starting to get into things he shouldn't have. When he left the house one night he found Cami in a bad way and took care of her despite the warning her uncle had given. From that night on Cami would secretly help Jeremy when he needed it. But then things started to change between him and Cami and Jeremy didn't know how to handle it.
As time went on Jeremy knew he had to do something because it was getting harder to control his inner demon. It was also getting hard to hide from his family. But what was he to do? How was Jeremy going to get out? Does he get out of the life he wanted to stop? Does he and Cami find a way to be together? This is one story of tragedy and finding peace.
Again, what a wonderful story M.S.B has put together. This book was a little different from Jake’s story as it really focuses more on Jeremy and what he was really going through in the book “Blind Love”…this guy has been through it all…I was rooting for him all the way because I know his heart was in the right place. I was not fond of his girl Cami as much as I loved the other Evans brothers girls…first she should have been suspicious of him after a while because they were seeing each other all this time and not one time did she meet his family or friends. I know they had to hide the relationship from her uncle but still…once Jeremy got out of jail…it was good to see the old gang back…they’ve all matured and moved on in life in a positive direction, especially Jake. I felt sooooo bad from Jeremey when he got out…I know the feeling lost and not belonging anywhere… I’ve never been to jail but you don’t have to in order to relate to feeling helpless and alone. **SPOILER ALERT**… but seeing Jeremy find out he has a son and his fear of what kind of father he would be…was emotional… IMO this is how fatherless children in this world today feel a lot of the time when they realize they are about to be fathers…it’s that insecurity in them to think they won’t be good at because they didn’t have a father around as an example…sad really. I love this series… very well written.
If I have to pick one word to describe Redeemed Love I would have to use the word amazing! While this word does not seem to give the book the justice it deserves M.S. Brannon has done it once again with Jeremy’s story. If you have read the rest of the Sulfur Heights series than you have hint of Jeremy’s story and I have to say I was not a fan of Jeremy after reading Tragic Love alone not including Surviving Love and the pain and devastation that Jeremy’s actions caused to Drake and the Evan’s family. As I began to read Jeremy’s story and seeing why he did made the decisions that he did in order to make a better life for his family. Without going into too much detail Redeemed Love is filled with making hard decisions to help one’s family and how those decisions can lead one down a dark and dangerous path and that the love of family and a woman can pull someone back from the brink and that second chances can happen for everyone.
There is an epilogue of the Evan’s family due this fall and I cannot wait to read that as well!
I have been waiting for Jeremy's story since we got to know the Evans brothers in the first book in the Sulfur Heights series Scarred Love. In each book, we get glimpses at what Jeremy is like but not until Redeemed Love does Brannon let the ball drop on what has been going on behind closed doors so to speak. By bringing the bad boy of the family to the forefront, we can finally understand what it's like to grow up in Sulfur Heights and the fight he and his family has had just to survive.
The story has two parts to it The Underworld and the Aftermath. Both showcase the different sides to Jeremy and introduces us to Cami, the lucky girl who has worked her way into his life but only to be a apart of the dark side of it. Will her pull on him be strong enough to save him or will his darker side take over completely? Read Redeemed Love to found out.
FINALLY we get to meet the man behind the mystery that is Jeremy Evans. Jeremy has been a mystery throughout the series. Every book leading up to this one has made me wonder and question everything about this Evans brother. Let me just say that all my questions were answered and more. I fell in love with Jeremy right away. He wants and believes his is helping and protecting his family, but he could destroy them in the process. Cami is his only solace. She is the only one who can truly see the man inside and bring him back.
The emotions in this book are raw and true. The Evans family will captivate your heart and make you feel their emotions right along with them.
Not many books take me totally by surprise, but this one totally blindsided me. Jeremy was always the quiet, enigmatic brother and we never really got a grip on what he was about or what he was up to until it all exploded at the end of Tragic Love. Jeremy's story was both shocking and heartbreaking. Never in my wildest imagination would I have guessed how his story would unfold, it was totally unexpected and I was totally consumed with every word, sentence and paragraph. So far this has been an amazing series and although I am really sad that the Evans' story is coming to an end, I am really looking forward to the upcoming epilogue.
This Book I would have to say is the best in the series so far when people say u save the best for last well I think this series did just that in the best raw gut wrenching way possible. Out of all the brothers I think Jeremy is my favourite . We All no that all brothers are protective, loyal and ferociously loves there woman. But Jeremy is and has all of his brother attitudes all in one and add in his own to the mix man you have one hell of man. Thank you so much for this series can wait for the complete ending
I stumbled into this series without a damn clue how much it would wreck me. It was like you were there living every moment with the Evans brothers. Let me say it wasn't pretty. Some scenes and some books made me cry more than others. This is about Jeremy's redemption and im so glad it turned out the way it did. It was hard to read about what happened to him in prison and then to see his path to have his family forgive him. He got a few surprises along the way. I just hope when the final boon which will be an epilogue of sorts it's all happiness because these boys deserve it!!
Another gripping story by a amazing author loved Jeremy's story was thrilled and engrossed all the way through I couldn't read quick enough it was so good to read about the Evans men from all points of view I love all these books all of them just get better with every book I read loved it x
This series is absolutely breathtaking. You will cry, laugh, have moments of wanting to throw things and feel real love for Family. Its a complete ride.(Down Old Miller Road lol). Not sure what else to say other than WOW and Thank You MS Brannon.
5+++ stars. MS Brannon does it again with this book. She brings all the characters to life with each and every word she writes. Once again an emotional book but it was great to hear the continuing saga of the Evan's brothers. Brilliant !!!!!
I enjoyed how intense this was, loved seeing the previous characters and what they were up to. Would've loved an epilogue at the end of this rather than finding out theres another book being released in a few months.
OMG.... what can I say,,, this has to be one of THE BEST series I have ever read & as you can see I have read a LOT !!! Can't wait for Everlasting Love, The Evans Family Epilogue!!!
Sulfur Heights Series had always been dark and brooding. There is always danger lurking around every corner, and if you’re not into drugs, violence and abuse, you better not start reading. These books are not for the faint of heart, by the time I reached this book, my heart has been toughened enough. Because if I thought I have seen the worse, and the vileness of life – but it was only the tip of the iceberg. I didn’t expect to see the darker version of Sulfur Heights in the book of the most quiet among the Evans Brothers, Jeremy.
Can the end justify the means?
It’s a million-dollar question. A lot would have argued. But all Jeremy wanted was to get his family out of Sulfur Heights, away from all the troubles, and the demons – away from their past and live their lives normally. But in order to do that, he needed money. In his desperation to become normal and get out of Sulfur Heights – he became someone he hated the most. He went into Sulfur Height’s darkest, most evil place – the underworld. He built another persona, someone whom I could not fathom that could exist. Way, way different than who he originally is. At home, he’s still the same Jeremy who is quiet. But outside, he became someone else. He was vicious, he can kill without batting an eyelash, and he will do everything, just about everything to have the money and have it fast for him and his family to get out of Sulfur Heights.
Perhaps the only good thing that came out from this was Cami. She was untouchable, being the niece of the drug lord of the underworld. They kept their friendship in private. She’s the only person who knows his other life, and the only person who he can go to when he needs help. How he manage to separate both lives in the town as small as Sulfur Heights was nearly unimaginable, but he was able to. Until the night that ended Presley’s life. This one incident collided both his worlds, and one world have broke apart.
He wanted to have his freedom. In order to do this, he has three stipulations that was necessary to have it. Although it was painful for him, the end was worth it. He was finally going to be free from everything. He and Cami might have a good future together, and he can finally avenged Presley’s untimely demise. But, he had to endure the intense hate coming from his family, especially from Drake.
Part two came a year, or three after he was imprisoned. He was finally free. What he didn’t expect was to see Cami still in Sulfur Heights. Cami, she is a great girl, who held on to life and to her faith. I’m a Catholic, and I appreciate how MS Brannon had weave this story without appearing to be preachy. Nevertheless, it was her faith who saved her and transformed her life. She was still in love with Jeremy, but there was more to consider more than love and chemistry. She needed to know if Jeremy will be in the long run with her….
As for his brothers, blood is thicker than water. It wasn’t easy, he didn’t just stride into their lives and told everyone he’s back. He earned their trust, fought his way back into their good graces. But I was glad all had ended well. Because Jeremy had redeemed himself. He might have some doubts about his capabilities now that he was out and he has to face some responsibilities, and I was glad his brother, most especially Reggie was there to make him see the light.
The ending had my heart aching, half-good, and half-bad. It was something I didn’t expect to happen, but I was touched, when someone unexpected came back into their lives and said his goodbyes. This, perhaps was one of my favorite scenes in the book.
This might be my favorite book in the series. MS Brannon had surpassed her previous works. Redeemed Love is dark, compelling, and will send you shivers down your spine. It will have you hooked, will have you pinning for the characters, will make you understand the reasons beneath the actions, and will make you think that indeed, there is good in every person. One surprise after the other, some good, some caused my heart to stop. This book gave me enough rollercoaster for today, and it was worth it.
