Now here is a book that started out nicely and before it was over left me thinking “what is the point of this” again…

Billy and Cameron meet in a yoga class. Billy has issues and is clearly the guy that won’t even try to be polite or sugar coat anything, while Cameron is sweet and calm, always wanting to help anyone in need.

As Billy is trying to drown his bitterness in some alcohol at a bar, he notices that Cameron is there, out of all places, and one thing leads to another and our guys end up in a hot and intense one-night stand. You’d think that was it, but it’s just the beginning. Their tryst activated their bond (they are soulmates) and that bond activated their true existence. A stranger out of nowhere informs them they are part of the supernatural world and Cameron is a seer while Billy and adept that can shapeshift.

So here we have a huge chunk of information dropped like a bomb out of nowhere. Not only our pair has to reconcile with the fact that they are soulmates, but before they get to wrap their head our anything the fight begins. Trying to overcome your cynicism, trying to trust in your feelings and your counterpart, trying to believe complete stranger all the while supernatural beings are trying to chomp your head off, well it should have been fun right.

If only this plot made sense though. But it didn’t most of the time. The why’s and the how’s were never answered and while the scenes between the couple were decent enough and quite hot at times, the action was just hazy.

I was frustrated with Fitz and Eli and how their thing was left hanging. I was frustrated with R.C. and the fact that his abilities were left unexplained in addition to the fact that he only opened doors to his house and Eli’s house. I mean if he wanted to escape Cyril, why didn’t he call for help from all that extended family, or why didn’t he open a door somewhere else? And what about our guys, what sort of powers did they have?

In the end, what could have been a nice read turned to a big mess of questions in my head and I really dislike questions after I’ve read a book. It was not wholesome and it didn’t left me satisfied at all.

Okay I didn’t see that coming and that doesn’t often happen. This whole series has taken me by surprise, not what happens in them, except for this one, but that I’m still reading and liking them. They are a simple read and I usually like more depth to the books I read but this series has grabbed me and I honestly can’t figure out why. The characters are great, I love everyone so far, but the thing I’m not crazy about is how when the MC’s meet it ends up being the same events over and over again. The setting is different but the situation is the same and I still don’t know where it’s going with the Cyril the villain.

In this book we meet Billy, a bad boy but very sweet and Cameron a yoga instructor that seems a perfect match for Billy. Both of these guys have secrets and slowly through the story you’ll get glimpses of those secrets but I never found out what makes them who they are, they never got around to telling each other everything and I’m disappointed in that. The love they share like all the MC’s seems so right and beautiful and the adventure page turning and frustrating at the same time.

I’m hoping to get closure at some point as the series progresses, I want the situation with Cyril to come to a head soon and I want the MC’s I’ve met along the way and the ones to come to finally get together and end this. I really hope that’s where the series is headed.
