Where to start off? I love Sam, she is such an awesome author and fun to work with! Now let's get to the book, I really enjoyed the story. It picks up right where book 1 leaves off. Rebecca and Jackson are these two strong and amazing characters, I love them both to pieces. Jackson I had to warm up to, I was a Jason girl from the start, but the more and more I get to know Jackson I simply love him to pieces, he would do anything for Rebecca! Such an amazing man. We get to know Duncan and his twisted ways, lol. He is a character all in himself and as much as he won't admit it, cares for Rebecca and her well being. He is such a wonderful character. There is lots of ups and down and plenty of drama thrown in. I don't even know how they all get themselves into it. Lucy, what can I say about Lucy. I love her to pieces such a strong and determined woman. I was always team George, I really wanted them to work out. But, he has soo many demons and things he needs to work on, if he would of worked towards them more, got help, maybe things would of been differen't, you will see what I mean when you read it. The only thing that I don't like as much is there is a lot of differen't POV switching, normally I love this. But sometimes it gets a tiny bit confusing to who is speaking, it takes me two seconds to realize who it is, but still. It takes nothing away from the story and the POV's are needed to get the effect from everyone's perspective. What else can I say?? Hmmm...Love Chris, he loves Lucy to pieces, you will see all the drama that unfolds with all these characters. I can't really give much away, but you will want to read this when it comes out. Everyone in the end does get their HEA, well except maybe a character or two, lol. But you will have to READ to see what I'm talking about ;-)

Some quotes I loved:

“Rebecca, I’d give everything up for you, I can’t believe that I Jackson Harvey, am so completely and so hopelessly in love with you. You know, I sat out there, because I made a promise to you, that I would never leave you”. He looked at her. “Rebecca, I will never put my hands on you like David did. I’ve done my sleeping around; I’ve been searching my whole life for you”.

“Rebecca, I love you, and you love me, that’s all that matters to me, I’d lose everything to be with you, you do know that, don’t you?”

"I know I don’t want this, I want him. Being here has only just confirmed everything for me. I’m going home, and I’m going to get married”

“Whatever happens Lucy, I’m here, and I’m here for the long haul. You’re my life
woman, understand that”

"I’m sorry Jason, but that’s not going to happen. I love Jackson. He is my knight, I love him”

“Rebecca, from the very first moment I spoke to you I knew you were something
special. How special, I didn't know, that was until I finally met you. You’ve changed me;
you’ve changed me for the better, everything I thought I ever wanted out of life.
You Rebecca are life, my world, and I promise, that I will spend every second showing you
just how much I love you.You are my reason for breathing... You’re my world. My life is what it is, and that’s because of you and the love you give to me. I love you Rebecca, and I promise you I will never stop.”

“Jackson, every night when I close my eyes, the face I see is yours. You showed me
what love was meant to be. You’re my knight in shining armour Jackson. You swept me off
my feet, I wasn’t looking for love, but I certainly found it in you. I love you Jackson Harvey, I
would live in a cardboard box in rainy city with you. As long as we have each other, I know
we can get through anything and everything. And you Jackson have my heart forever”.

I didn’t think my love for Samantha Fontien could grow any more after reading her first book “How To Catch Butterflies”, but after reading “Book 2″ I was definitely proved wrong.

This book is just as brilliant as the first one.

It begins immediately from the point that Book One ended – which I thought was fantastic, as I was really left wondering what would happen next.
Readers are whisked directly back into the amazing lives of the sassy, strong willed Rebecca and her best friend Lucy.

Book Two explores the relationships the women have with their surely ‘too perfect to be true’ other halves, and focuses on the journey they go through, trying to pave their way in life, building futures for themselves with the love of their lives.

The events each girl goes through are explored at different times, one chapter focusing on Lucy and what she is doing, the next chapter looking at Rebecca and her life.
Often, the characters very different viewpoints of the same situations are explored straight after one another. I really liked this style of writing, as I thought it added an extra depth to the story. You really grasp just how the same event can affect people so differently.

There is a lot of emotion and love portrayed throughout this book. A real connection shines through, showing just how much feeling, adoration and respect there is between the beautiful women and their equally amazing men.

As events unfolded throughout the story, I had to sit back a little and actually take a few minutes to ponder that this book (as well as Book One) is actually based on real life people and all of the events within the story have actually happened.
All of the beautiful, exotic locations; the amazing clothes and the pure passion that is just sizzling throughout the story is all real!
It really made me want to take a walk in these ladies shoes to experience some of this fantasticness.

However, on the flip side of this is that realisation that the sadness and upset of some of the events are then also real.
This just shows how strong Rebecca and Lucy are as individuals, and just how much they have grown in order to overcome such upsetting situations.

This book is well written, and I felt I “got to know” the main characters in more dept – it really developed the characters and progressed them from Book One.

Possibly, as a reader, if you haven’t read the first book, then you may not grasp Book Two fully, or be as swept away with what happens to them as I was.
As with most books within a series, the main “background” information is in Book One. Book Two builds upon this knowledge and tells the remainder of the story, without going back too much.

Definitely read Book 1 first – double the brilliance!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and loved the places it whisked me away to. I adored where the ladies ended up, and who they ended up with – all whilst keeping their unwavering bond with each other – amazing!

I could have shed a tear.

This book really restores faith in the ideal that Happily Ever After’s really do exist.

~Laura’s Review~

Holy crap! It finally arrived. The day I’ve been looking forward too since reading the first book and OMFG I certainly wasn’t disappointed! The amount of times I emailed the author going OMG or WTF are you doing to me were unbelievable.

This is a truly fantastic read and for those who like a little bit of smut (ok a lot of smut!), this a definite must read for you.

How to Catch Butterflies 2 carries on exactly where it left us in book 1 and for those of you who have read book 1 will know we were all left hanging…….

HTCB 2 carries on with the busy lives of Rebecca and Lucy. Two best friends who thought they had found the perfect men, but as we come to find out, the path of true love doesn’t run smoothly for either of them. Rebecca must decide whether to believe Jackson after the revelations at the end of book 1 and Lucy must break down her walls and let Chris in if she wants to be truly happy. Will they both have the happy ever afters they both desperately want or will all their plans come tumbling down around them? One thing for sure, Samantha Fontien did it well and leaves you guessing till the very end. HTCB 2 is a roller coaster of emotions and action and smut and has plenty of breathe holding moments. I enjoyed how Samantha gives you a run down about various characters from book 1 and book 2 at the very end. Nice to know that what goes around comes around

If you haven’t read this book then you need to hurry up and get it (along with book 1) because trust me, you will not regret reading them one little bit. I very much look forward to seeing what Samantha has for us next.

~ Nicola’s review ~

Are you ready? I thought I was but that little minx, Samantha Fontien, has done it to me again with her book! Just when I thought I knew what was happening and where the story was going, Samantha, went and yanked the carpet right from under my feet and I landed on my ass with a thud! So as I dust myself off lets get on with my non spoiler review shall we?!

As I stated the story picks up right from where book 1 ended, with Jackson on his ass outside Rebecca’s apartment I’m glad Samantha started the book this way, a lot of books start a few days after the explosive event and you’re left wondering what the hell happened in those days but we get to enjoy every minute.

I want this to be a non spoiler review so I will skirt around the facts, Is there action? Yes! Is there drama? Yes! Will there be OMFG moments? Yes! Will there be moments where you want to slap the character? Yes! Will there be moments where you send the author an email asking WTF have you done?! Yes, and I’m very sorry for that email Sam, well……..kind of! Lets face it, Rebecca and Lucy’s life has never been on the quiet side and its not about to start now!

Book 2 is as action packed, if not more, than book 1. It’s easy to keep track of the story and is very well written. Each character has their own place in the story as well as drama, and it’s that drama that keeps you gripped throughout. I enjoyed the twists that Samantha brought to the story, even if one particular moment earned her a harsh email from me! I absolutely LOVED the ending, each character throughout book 1 & 2 had their own “where are they now” moment, and a few of those brought a grin to my face you gotta love the karma!!

I really enjoyed these Butterfly books and can’t wait to see which characters, if any, make it into Samantha’s next books.

Samantha Fontien’s HOW TO CATCH BUTTERFLIES BOOK 2 is the continuation to her first book, HOW TO CATCH BUTTERFLIES. In this situation, it is necessary to read the first since Fontien doesn’t give you much background information regarding characters and situations that occurred in the first novel. Full disclosure: she did offer the opportunity to read the first book and if I had the time, I would have taken up the offer; however, having a very full review plate, I couldn’t. Either way, I often like to pick up books after the first to see if it is necessary to read the first in a series.

As for characterization, it’s a bit weak, but then again I believe this has to do with it being the second book and not the first. Readers coming in for the first time will be lost and might have a difficult time associating with the characters. We have two couples who are essentially the main protagonists: Rebecca and Jackson who are are newly engaged and Lucy and Christopher who are dating. A set of secondary characters known to both couples play a role in the outcome regarding certain situations.

In terms of the overall plot, I was a bit lost. I wasn’t entirely sure what Rebecca’s job encompasses and why she went to New York that required her spending time participating in obstacle courses under the direction of a drill sergeant. Though we’re told she’s there to assist in hiring potential recruits, I still don’t have a good grasp what her job is. In the background, Jackson is under investigation for suspicious activity at his company, but no one takes the investigation seriously especially after Rebecca and a co-worker gets involved. Then we have Lucy and Christopher’s plot-there’s a bit of drama that was pretty easy to see where it was going and wasn’t too surprised when the facts came out. I applaud Fontien for tying up loose ends regarding particular character stories and situations, but she wasn’t clear enough for readers who hadn’t read the first book. For example, we have a character named Jason who turns out to be the man Rebecca didn’t pick. He spots her at the airport and immediately calls someone to see which plane she’s on. I thought he’d be the villain and was planning a kidnapping especially since he’s upset about Rebecca and Jackson being together. I was wrong and turns out I didn’t have to worry about him.

I debated with the rating between a three and a four. In the end, I decided on a three due to a few factors. The first concerns the writing. While Fontien can write a good story there are areas that need further editing to tighten up sentences. For example, “Lottie had been in the vehicle, unknown to anyone at the time. Her mother had taken in a fit of temper from the nursery unknown to anyone until it was too late.” It was already established that no one knew Lottie had been in the vehicle, the second mention of it wasn’t necessary. Furthermore, there are sentences that are missing single quotation marks or begin with one without the need for one. Several times Fontien writes out Duncan Peter’s full name even though he’d already been introduced. It became redundant and I understand typing out his full name if there was more than one character named Duncan, but there wasn’t. Also, there’s only a five hour time difference between New York and London. Fontien mentions a six hour difference and this only occurs twice a year for one week only and that’s when daylight savings time begins and ends. Rebecca was in New York for three weeks. Assuming she was at the camp during the week before the time difference, then it should reflect a five hour difference and not six (here she was thinking of Jackson and what he may be doing).

Overall, Samantha’s Fontien’s HOW TO CATCH BUTTERFLIES BOOK 2 is a satisfactory read. While it didn’t work for me, Fontien does know how to keep readers engaged. No doubt readers of the first book will be happy to pick this up and see where everyone ends up.

Review

This is the second book in the How to Catch Butterflies series and I would not suggest attempting to read this as a stand-alone as book one gives the full back story.

The plot line centres on Rebecca and Lucy who have been best friends since they were eleven. Both searching for that ultimate love. This book takes you on the journey of those experiences of falling in and out of love, coping with lies and deceit and turning their lives around into something they didn't realise they were searching for and evolving into their butterfly state – pretty on the outside but so much more on the inside.

I liked the storyline and reading book one was a must for me as so much is going on with both Rebecca and Lucy and the men they fall in and out of love with. As with all young women they think at the time they are with the love of their lives but as time moves on something happens to change the course of that love.

I must say as much as I liked the storyline they was a lot (and I mean a lot) of padding out and dialogue after dialogue of unnecessary reading. For example - as much as I love to read about property and surroundings I don’t expect to have to read an in depth description to accompany a meeting up for coffee in a romance novel.

The characters were likeable and I especially loved Jason and George from the first book, but here in the second book they seemed to have changed overnight. Never the less I kept hoping throughout the read that all would be revealed.

I loved Jackson Harvey and I like how the author subtly changed him from a mouthy playboy into a loved up and devoted boyfriend without losing his sexy aura and prowess. Duncan Peters was a whole other story (and I hear he is to get his own story in the author’s next book!) When I read about him in the first book I just passed him off as a secondary filling in kind of nerdy guy who works at the same place as Rebecca. But here in this second book he was a revelation and so much more interesting and sexy. In fact I think he became my favourite character who has so much more to offer with his secretive aura, hidden depths and alpha man tendencies. Chris (Lucy's mega rich boyfriend) was a mighty phwoar factor with his sexy smile, killer bod and large appendage! He was something else!

The whole story from the beginning took the reader from a kind of rags to riches story as the women – mainly Rebecca – emerge from appearing repressed into moving up the career ladder or career change and ultimately as well moving up the social ladder and mixing with the rich and famous of modern London and other international cities.

I loved that the author put a glossary in for English slang and sayings – although as a full bred Brit I have never, ever come across ‘Genie Mac’ but now find myself saying it to the amusement of myself!

Overall I would recommend this book but ensure you devote the time to lose yourself in the storyline with all its twists and turns. I liked it. I just need more Duncan now!

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.
by:Lao Tz

Book one of "How to Catch Butterflies" ended with one big cliffhanger between Rebbeca and Jackson and book two starts off right where book one left off .Now I can tell you this one started of with a faster pace than book one and I loved that. Getting hooked at the beginning and seeing the couple struggle throw and some how figure out that's sometimes things are not what they seem.

This book is focused more on the outside threats to the couple’s relationship than the internal battles each couple has going on.There is so much drama whether it is coming from past lovers , business partners , even family drama or work drama .

While Rebecca and Jackson is dealing with work and family even a past lover from Rebecca's past .The new found Love between Chris and Lucy sees its own share of drama .Through all the good and bad that happens in this book it does one thing .It captivates you from the beginning to end. There are so many twist and turns you never know what's next .

How to Catch Butterflies is a story of love ,friendship, and how in the end sometimes love is the answer . It is sometimes a little confusing but mostly filled with hot love scenes , friendships and how no matter what somethings are just meant to be .

This book was wrapped up quite nicely everything felled right in placed all questions and and the reader was not left wondering what happen. I have to say personally the last few chapters plus the epilogue had to be my favorite it left my heart pounding then melting . It was definitely an enjoyable read.

Review of How to catch Butterflies Book 2 by Samantha Fontien

Review done for Hooked on Books

4 out of 5 stars

In this second book of the How to catch Butterflies series, we pick up right where book 1 left off. Rebecca has discovered that Jackson’s company has been involved in illegal activities. She isn’t sure whether to believe that he had no involvement at first.

Jackson struggles to prove to Rebecca that he is the man she fell in love with and that he had nothing to do with the illegal activities.

Lucy has finally found the man of her dreams. Christopher is everything she has ever dreamed about. When a misunderstanding threatens to destroy their relationship, Lucy must chose whether or not to listen to the truth. She has been heartbroken before and isn’t quick to hear Christopher out.

Lots of drama unfolds throughout this book. I enjoyed seeing Lucy and Rebecca figure their feelings out. There were tons of smoking hot love scenes in this book as well.

I really liked this book. Rebecca and Lucy seemed to be more mature and in control of their lives in this one. As much as I love Jackson, I felt bad for Jason because I really believe that he loves Rebecca and that she should have just heard his side of the story. Now George was a bit of a mystery. I am not sure I liked where the author went with his part of the story but I do believe Chris was the one for Lucy.

I recommend this series to read!

First off this book CAN NOT be read as a standalone. I attempted to do just that because I had very little time but it just could not be done because this is a concluding part to a two part story which started in book one.
So I read book one and it hooked me pretty quickly I love Rebecca and Lucy two Brit girls after my own heart.
Their journey of self discovery is not without its fair share well much more than fair every corner and turn was drama filled which keep me on the edge.
I loved Samantha's writing it was organic and authentic. The Brit slang was spot on by the way.
This review is difficult because I can't say too much without giving the story away which would be a shame because their is so much you just need to read for yourself.
If you have read book one this picks up right where book one ended.
In book one I form opinions of who I wanted the girls to end up with, but by the end of this book I had completely changed my mind. But I was very happy with the ending we got to see where all the different characters ended up. lets just say Karma is a BI**H.
I really enjoyed the girls emotional drama filled journey. there are plenty of Hot guys for you to enjoy. i can't wait for the next book from Samantha, I really enjoyed both books.

Samantha Fontien has done it again, an EPIC read that will have you looking for wine, tissue and chocolates, Also have you laughing so hard your sides hurt.

I loved book 1 in this series it ended with one hell of a cliffhanger but..... Book 2 starts as book 1 finished. It's like samantha had done it as one book but when she has finished she cut it in half to make too. I LOVED IT. I love the way the author has written it too.

There is twist and turns you don't see coming it's a story that will have you bitting your nails and sitting at the end of your seat till the very end.

Page turner? gosh yea. Would I recommend this book? Hell yeah. Everyone needs to read this book and Author.
