Lindsay Willows craves a simple life. One where she can make a difference without drawing too much attention to herself. As the daughter of both a vampire and a fae, the cards were already stacked against her. Finding out she's the supposed mate of a dark fae prince doesn't help matters. Especially when there are those who will stop at nothing to prevent her from mating with a prince she's never even met.

When Exavier Kedmen, the incredibly sexy front man for a world-famous band, shows up wanting her to go back to working in a field she left three years ago, she can't explain the strong feelings that surface for a man she barely knows.

Lindsay finds herself confronting demons from her past, coming to terms with the ones in the present, and finally looking forward to a future with the man she was created for. And she discovers evil doesn't care who it hurts to obtain its goals, but even the evilest of things fear something, or in the case of Exavier, someone.

WARNING: This book contains vampires, werewolves, sexy bedroom scenes and violence explained with contemporary, graphic language.

I liked this book, but I really wanted to like it more. It's just that there were so many things that happened that beyond the realm of reasonable. For example, who doesn't know the name of their favorite band? My four-year old cousin can pick out a Beyonce song after three bars.
Next, a guy shows up who must bear some similarity to your childhood love with the same first name, but with a different last name. It never occurs to you that it might be the same guy. Also, the guy is lead singer of a group called Werewolf (ok, it's the french word for werewolf) that sings Fae chants and you never wonder that he might be a werewolf or some sort of paranormal creature.
And then the most unbelievable thing. You are being attacked by various creatures of the night and said guy, who is the Prince of Darkness, just stands around and lets you battle these entities because he can't "sense" the creatures. That's ridiculous. HE'S A WEREWOLF AND THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS FOR HEAVENS SAKE. Can he be more clueless?

I enjoyed the story. It was sweet and quirky and funny with some of the measures Lindsay went through to convince Exavier she was merely human. Although a paranormal romance, the story was a fairly light read...even with the "Prince of Darkness" theme. I would have loved knowing more about just what that meant because it was only expressed in a few different ways (limited) throughout the story. I would have also liked to know why Exavier's mother did what she did. Her actions were mentioned several times throughout the story but never explained. The story also missed explaining the "why" and "how" of Exavier's position. With this being the start of a series (published in 2006, but currently the only book in the series available), I'm hoping that these things will be addressed but this story just felt incomplete without further extrapolation of these major plot elements. The story also lacked detail on how the prince was able to manage the darkness within him. But, that being said...the story was very sweet and it even gave me a bit of a sniffle with the interplay between Lindsay and Ian. The reason the story is three stars instead of four is two-fold. In addition to the lack of additional information regarding the plot elements mentioned earlier, Lindsay's actions caused me to drop a star. Even with alllllllll the clues Exavier dropped, she was totally clueless about who he was in her life. It seemed odd that she would have such outstanding memories of her childhood BFF and then totally go blank when he showed up again...even with all the blatant clue-age. But, I was sold by the end of the story and the lovely little gift that was given to Exavier and Lindsay. So. Sweet!

Positively sizzling

I don’t know what I expected when I picked up Loup Garou other than a werewolf romance. But, OMG it was so much more. This was one book I could not put down. The pace is fast and steady, the action fierce, the laughs plenty and the sexual tension had me on the edge throughout. Loup Garou is a total emotional roller coaster. Lindsay Willows and Exavier Kedmen totally did it for me.

Lindsay Willows is one really kick butt heroine. Evil has a hard on for her that just won’t quit. With each subsequent attack, she gets one-step closer to just wanting to give up. Always they are demanding that she give up her mate, the Prince of Darkness… the only problem is, Lindsay has no clue who he is. Already evil’s obsession has cost her the most precious thing in her life. What more does she have to give? She’s given up her career as a choreographer. She’s given up any permanent semblance of a relationship she’s ever had. Life keeps taking from her, still she keeps going, she never stops giving, and she manages to do it with a smile on her face and laughter surrounding her. Lindsay’s heart and soul is wrapped up in the rec center she runs for the less fortunate children of the city. She draws the most stalwart and protective friends to her. This is one three quarter fae, quarter vamp I would definitely want to call friends.

Exavier Kedmen is the front man for the Loup Garou band. He has a devilish voice and hot as sin looks that draw Lindsay from the moment they meet. He also wants to draw Lindsay back into her past profession, something she has sworn she won’t do. The chemistry that ignites between these two is incendiary. Assuming he is human, Lindsay is continually trying to put herself between him and all the evil that comes at her. It’s pretty obvious to the outside observer though that Xav really doesn’t need protecting. This is definitely one totally alpha male with a few secrets of his own. He’s also one male that is out to claim his mate come hell or high water. Someone has been playing fast and loose at keeping him from her for years and it all stops now.

Loup Garou was so darned good I hated to see it end. The dialog was witty and the action tight. The pages just seemed to turn themselves. You can bet I’ll be looking to see what’s next in the series. Although, I really don’t know how Ms. Roth can top this one. And, if you are asking if I’d recommend this one, at this point I have to ask, “Haven’t you been listening?” “…not just yes, but hell yes!” Loup Garou will satisfy just about any romance reader but especially those who like a great paranormal with quite a load of action, suspense and heat.

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lindsey Willows, daughter of a vampire and a fae, wants a normal uneventful life. But the fates have a different idea for her. She is being hunted by demons, vampires and shifters who want her to lead them to the Prince of Darkness. They are convinced she is his mate, and by killing her, they will hurt him, making it easy to overthrow him and take his throne.
Exavier Kedmen is the seemingly human lead to a very famous band, Loup Garou. He shows up wanting Lindsey to take one more choreography position, for his band. Lindsey has no idea he has other ideas in mind.
A childhood love, cut short by distance, about to be rekindled under the guise of work. Lindsey had a crush on a boy named Exavier, when she was only five and he was ten. She doesn’t put two and two together that her maybe new employer is that boy until a dinner with her parents and a “special guest”, opens her eyes. Angry he kept this from her when he first came to hire her, she runs to the safety of her recreation center. It is there she finds out that Exavier is more than able to fend for himself.
Another great story by Mandy M. Roth, I cannot seem to get enough of her writing, which is excellent since she has written so much, I will have plenty of her work to read. If you like shifters, vampires, and fae; lots of action and more passion than one story should have, this is the book for you!! I, myself, cannot wait to read more in this series.

It is not often that I give a book a rating of 1; however, what else can you do when the writing is awkward and the majority of what is going on couldn't possible happen in any world including the paranormal? In all fairness to the author, the plot/storyline had good potential but it was executed poorly.

I won't spend my time recapping the storyline. This read fell apart in so many ways. First and foremost the way the conversations between characters were set up left you wondering at times who was talking. Additionally, there were scenes after scenes where you wonder if one of the main characters is even in the room. It also didn't help that the friends of the main characters were speaking of things that no one would dare discuss in from of a total stranger. Ugh, just ugh! Don't waste your time of this one. It needs to be reworked from beginning to end.

You know that uncomfortable feeling when you are embarrassed for a character? I hate feeling like that.

Perhaps the book seemed slow because I was listening to it, rather than reading it at my own pace on the page, but I just couldn't get into the story. The main plot device throughout the first half of the book is intentional miscommunication between the lead characters. One chapter, maybe... but Lindsey is still completely clueless at the start of chapter nine. For me, that felt tedious.

The characters spend a lot of time alluding to past stories instead of getting on with new action that focuses on the good vs evil premise rather than confused identities.

The end really rubbed me the wrong way, too.

I was given a copy of this story by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This story was well written and edited. I just fell into the story as if I were part of the action and drama. This story truly involved my emotions as I laughed and cried as the story unfolded.

Lindsay is a kick ass heroine with some flaws as well as some walls to protect her tender heart. Exavier is a man who is very much an alpha who has loved Lindsay since he first met her at age five.

I don't want to give any more details away just know that if you love being a true part of the story as it unfolds then this book is for you. I look forward to other books in this series.

This book was a chore, 28 pages in and I still didn't understand what the theme of the story was, all I got was abs, eye winking, and some confusing dialogue, I stopped there, didn't bother to go any further.

I REALLY wanted to like this story, and the first few chapters made me hopeful for a fun, easy paranormal romance, but ultimately I found this story lacking.

There were several incongruities in the writing that wrenched me out of the story and had me going back multiple times to try and figure out if I had missed information. That was not the case, the information just wasn't there. On one particular occasion they were in a diner discussing their plans for the day and then all of a sudden they were under the shade of a tree with no mention of changing locations or time passing. WHY?

Moving on from editing issues which I can understand from an indie writer, Lindsay was just stupid. I found myself wishing she would die about halfway through the story. She continually put herself into positions where she would be caught and/or hurt with little to no understanding that she was the cause of her own problems. When everyone around you is trying to protect you and you constantly run away into the arms of danger you deserve to die. When Exavier shows up and acts like he knows her- a dark haired, blue eyed man with the same name as your long lost (dark haired, blue eyed) best friend who CALLS YOU BY THE SAME NICKNAME AND ASKS IF YOU RECOGNIZE HIM- and you don't think "maybe it's the same guy?" Additionally, while I know there was supposedly a childhood love between the H/h, I really didn't feel as though it was an organic or justified emotion.

I also didn't appreciate the abrupt wrap up at the end of the story. As soon as the H/h have bonded all the baddies that have been gunning for them for years just throw their hands up and disappear? Messy character interactions and emotions were basically disregarded, instead Lindsay decided to wipe the memories of a man who she had loved and had been in a long term and emotionally nuanced relationship with because it was "the only way." No. You could be an adult and work through issues the way you are expected to when dealing with people you care for. A twenty-eight year old woman who has supposedly been through terrible things in her life should be able to handle difficult, adult discussions. Instead I felt I was reading a terrible re-telling of the Bella/Jacob story line from Twilight. The mother of Exavier is mentioned multiple times and it's revealed that she acted to keep them apart in the past but there is never a resolution to this or any indication that it will be addressed.

Ultimately the characters in this story served their own desires with little to no consideration for each other and with almost no thought seeming to go into the actions.

Though I enjoyed this a few things spoilt it.
Lindsay is just way too slow on the uptake of who Exavier is, the name if not the spelling is an absolute give away. It is not exactly a common Joe or Frank name.
She is also just too naive over music she is hooked on and doesn’t find it strange some of the songs are sung in the language of the Fae, not English.
Why does Exavier not say anything to Lindsay about who he is and why does he not sense evil like she does? He is the PRINCE OF DARKNESS.
I also ended up with no respect for Exavier.
Prince of Darkness, more like manwhore king.
He isn’t honest about too many things, like the fact it wasn’t a dream and they are married.
Lindsay was right in pointing out she didn’t know she had a mate and had lived her life accordingly but Exavier knew he had a mate and who she was but still had sex with scores and scores of women.
Basically he was a ratpig manho.
Lindsay has to use her magic on Eion to remove years off memories which I found sad.
And where was the big showdown with his mother? The one who lied and interfered terribly, keeping these two apart for twenty years, causing all sorts of problems.
Saying everything happens for a reason is not good enough and a cop out in the story.
I had read and reviewed this years ago but reviews are missing. Interesting that another book has been added to the series about Jay, one of Lindsay’s ex lovers.

To preface this, I have read a good number of Mrs. Roth's newer books and enjoyed them. This was my first foray into her older work. This book was, not anything like her newer work. Skip ahead a decade and you'll find her work is much MUCH better.

I hate leaving low star reviews, and I very rarely do because I'm a fairly easy please, but I can't do that with this one. The plot was interesting and I enjoyed how the story was set. It pretty much ends there though. The book was written in first person perspective from only the female protagonist (Lindsay's) view-this is always a hard sell for me as it makes the book less complete in my opinion both with only one view point and the whole first person bit. This book showcased that first person perspective problem beautifully. I frequently had a hard time knowing who was speaking, who was present, and honestly how we got there. The book seemed disjointed. Also, very, very long. The confusion trope was played out FAR too long: like, painfully too long. The male lead(Xavier/Zavier) I still know almost nothing about and have no feel for his actual personality or character.

All in all, I think the book had a great base, but the author hadn't made it to the point in her writing where she could pull it off. The second book in this series is actually considerably better, I'm happy to report (Bad Moon Rising was written in 2018 vs this one in 2006).

Nope

I got to the 50% mark on my Kindle before I threw in the towel. I found the writing uneven, the character development shallow, the dialogue juvenile and the world building weak. I found Lindsay, the main character annoying and nothing happened that created any real tension or concern for the major characters, but there was a lot of running around “dodging evil.”

I like fantasy/paranormal novels but I also like the characters and the situations in which they find themselves to be if not relatable, then at least plausible. In my view the author tried to incorporate too many paranormal elements to the point that none were sufficiently developed. I figure that if the novel’s “big bad” hasn’t been solidly developed or fleshed out by the halfway point then the characters are just aimlessly stumbling in the dark. For this reader that is not very entertaining.

Bottom line:
You’ll have to decide if a review written at the 50% point is fair, but for me this book was a total miss.

The rhythm of love
What an amazing book! I love this new set of characters and the way that the author made their coming together not just a struggle but a journey. A very long journey, that was so full of emotions and tears, love and laughter, and ends up in such joy that I cried right along with the characters. This book held all of the paranormal elements that the author does so well, including the danger and action and the fated mates, but the book was really focused on the love and the music. I really hope the author continues this series, I need to know that Eion and the crew get their mates and that Jay, Gina and Myra find their way to love. I think this is my second favorite series by this author, sorry no one can replace the Crimson Ops crew in my heart. No matter what the author brings our way next, I just know I am going to enjoy it.

Hot as Hell

Everyone I reckon, has had a crush at some point, on a member of a band. Mine was Nino Betencourt from Extreme. Chiseled good looks, long dark hair.
Not far off Exeviar or Xavs, in this book.
He’s the lead in famous rock group Loup Garou. And he wants choreographer Lindsay Willow, to go on tour with him and work on his moves.
And I don’t just mean dance moves.
He’s desperate to romance her, and she is attracted to him, but as someone in the know with Supernaturals, she’s trying to hide that world from him, thinking he’s human.
There are some technical issues with the book - reveals either coming out of nowhere or not being quick enough. ie, I struggled with the idea that Linds didn’t click quicker exactly what he is to her.
However, it’s a fun book, hot and heavy, great characters, nice amount of action and some good quips and snappy dialogue.
Great fun

This might be the dumbest book I have read in awhile. I stayed with it bc the chemistry with the leads was interesting but geez...how stupid does the author think readers are and how stupid is the heroine?! I mean she meets a guy who has the exact same unusual first name as her crush growing up. She inexplicably feels connected to him. He doesn’t run away with her lame excuses. She doesn’t notice to clues he blatantly gives that indicate his identity. One of her friends/exes actually knows who the guy is but doesn’t tell her. Just stupidness all throughout.

Fun, fast past, and hot. I liked it being silly at times and yet balanced with sadness of the past. The interaction with the different characters was fun to read and I couldn't help but shake my head at their antics.

This was just an awkward read for me. More than half the book took place in the same day and it spent so much time on conversations that shouldn't have taken place when they did. We have Exavier (whose identity was kept quiet way too long and was pretty obvious whom he was to Lindsay) and Lindsay who meet pretty quick and then it's conversation after conversation about her life done right in front of him when in all reality the topics were pretty private considering he was supposed to be a stranger. Her and her friends seemed immature and the way they talked made me feel like I walked into a conversation late leaving me in the dark. Once Exavier's identity came to light it got a little better but everything was still confusing. He was too secretive, she was too secretive. I liked them together, I thought they worked well together. The thing that brought this down more for me was what happened to Eion. Eion and Lindsay had such a beautiful moment that had so many emotions jumping off the page. Then it was ruined by something Lindsay did to him and I was done. this book just didn't work for me.

Lindsay and Exavier were very close when they were young. She is part fae-part vampire. They were best friends, even though he was 3 years older but are pulled apart by those who reckon they know better. They meet up again 20 years later. He is now a rock star and she runs a recreation centre. She fights off evil that believes she is the fated mate of the Dark Prince and they have been trying to kill her in order to make him suffer. When Lindsay meets a new Exavier, she reminds him of the easy company and safety she felt with herXavs when they were children. She tries to shake off the paranormal hokum whilst around her "human" Exavier but slowly he gets sucked into the madness and they fight the bad guys together with her friends.

As with all Mandy M Roth books the humour is only surpassed by the scorching sex scenes. I can't wait to see what happens with the rest of the Gang. I'm rooting for Jay to get his girl!!

Umm... I liked it

Ok I did like it. A solid 3.5 but... some parts were way and I mean way drawn out and others were over so quickly that you were like... what just happened. It was also super short. And things weren’t resolved, I mean if you are gonna have this series and each book covers one couple then jeeze finish up with the couples story. Spoiler: The mother was never dealt with, her listening to his music and not realizing it was him is another thing that was drawn out and then just glossed over. And how did this band get so big in 3 years... give me a break or how did his cousin become part of his band? Was that even mentioned.. nope. These are just pot holes that drive me crazy.

I did enjoy this book. It was a quick read. The characters were interesting, and the plot was fast paced. I felt that there were too many things that left questions for a first book in the series. The world building was a bit lacking, why is there a dark prince, what does he rule, and how exactly does the fae world overlap the mundane? I guess these could be answered in later books. I did like the relationship between Linds and Xavs. I liked the history they had. I feel that Lindsay was a bit dense in some areas, and kept thinking things were dreams. I feel like it was Exavier messing with her head, but it wasn't stated explicitly. Either way, I didn't like that aspect of it. I did like how she kept trying to protect him.

Riveting story!

Normally I find Ms. Roth's books to be light-hearted, even when there is some bad stuff happening in it. But this one has a lot more depth. Don't get me wrong, it has humor peppered here and there. As well as some super steamy scenes that will have you wishing for a fan and a glass of ice water. But it also has some heart-wrenching scenes that will stick with you long after you've finished the book. This one goes in my "Books that speak to me" category.

The narrator did a good job, and the story flows well. The characters will forever have a place in my heart.

As this is my favorite book I"ve read by this author, I strongly recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal romances with a lot of steam and unique and loveable characters.

Wow, the blurb & high star rating gave me hope this would be good, sadly I was mistaken. I wonder what those readers that were giving it 4 & 5 stars read, cause it couldn’t have been what I read. I only made it to around 10% before giving up. I felt like I missed a previous book or something, there was no world building or history, no explanations of what she is (if it hadn’t said it in the blurb, I’d have been even more confused!). The main character is annoying to say the least, no way would I want to read further about her, let alone the whole book. I ended up returning it for my money back from Amazon.

Okay Story

This was a crazy story, the Heroine is a mate of the Prince of Darkness, but not only did his mother screw with the relationship, but he also screws with her head. ***spoiler alert..don’t read any further…..she was tortured, the baby she was carrying killed, she was made not to have children, her mates cousin was the child’s father and they were together for eight years, but he was made to forget all of that…..yeah and then she was gifted with the ability to have children and it just ends with her and the Prince in love and expecting….this story could have been so much more.
