Confessions of a Philanthropist (London Brown #16)
The emotionally deafening pain of betrayal.
I’m Rhys Christos Edward Stowell, a philanthropist on the verge of exile from a suffocating state of corruption. My lack of conformity to perceived norms has earned me a reputation of being difficult. I rather like it that way.
Beguiled by a woman who uses the oldest profession to torture herself and punish those that love her, I’m ever her dutiful friend. But I want much more…
After years of being neatly boxed in the friend category, she offers me surrender. Or the semblance of it….
Confessions of a Daughter (London Brown #17)
Setting a course that is right for me. My answer is…
I’m Desniah Williams, the daughter of an influential member of the British Parliament. The devil incarnate got his hooks in me. For the attention and praise he lavished on me, I gave him every last shred of my soul. I was a cheap whore. London commands her weight in gold.
Two men one a politician on the verge of greatness and the other a philanthropist on the cusp of corruption, each own a piece of me.
Confessions of a Philanthropist (London Brown #18)
And then there was darkness.

Leila DeSint was born in a small town on the east coast of Canada. Her nomadic childhood gave her the ability to ebb and flow with the seasons, people and places she lived in. Most often, she could be found in a corner with a pencil and notepad using words to recreate the dark world around her. Many summers of her youth were spent on the shores of her birthplace collecting seashells, but she always returned them for the next wanderer that happened by.
The pencil and notepad have been traded for a computer, but the words never stop flowing, nor did her interest in conjuring glimpses of the world as she perceived it. The corner is now a desk. And rather than leaving behind seashells for wanderers, she pens dark, gritty erotic literature that examines the complexities of human emotions and sexuality through an ever-changing lens. She delves into the shadowy areas and explores the social-perceptions of taboos.
She threads together the remnants of the world she witnessed in order to shed light on obscure places.
Wow.! I knew he would eventually kill her. Why couldn't she get away from this monster. This man likes the taste of blood literally, hence her time of the month. Come on! I am disappointed beyond belief with Caden. I now view London as an enemy. She needs help from a reputable therapist. She doesn't have to settle for being abused to be loved.
I don't see any sign of Wake. When is it coming out? Anybody!
Embedded within the pages of Loss by Leila DeSint, in my opinion is one the most talented authors whose writing always ignites sensations buried deep within. Loss is packed as explosive power kegs of emotions and carnal actions that may have a reader pondering the events for days after finish reading it. Loss is an emotional, suspenseful ride through dark and murky waters with bouts of crystal, clear, blue skies. Ms. DeSint manifest her bold writing talents in this new installment in the London Brown series. Most readers who relish a book that possesses the components of psychology, social issues, eroticism, BDSM, bound together with a tender, touching narrative of love, freedom, pain and redemption will find Loss engaging. Loss will stimulate several heated discussions if read in a book club environment or with a reading partner and will consume more than a couple of meetings. Loss awakens the pounding pulse of raw sensuality.
As I traveled the numerous paths of this labyrinth of a series, I became emotionally and psychologically attached to the main characters on their bumpy roads searching for happiness.
Ms. De Sint provides the reader with pertinent information about the characters prior to the opening of this installment which is a wonderful strategy. If I may, I would like to commend Leila De Sint on her strong, candid statement of how she developed Rhys, Desniah, Caden, and others, the impact spirituality, class and its footprint on the personas of her characters.Ms. De Sint craft fully takes the pain of Desniah, Rhys and London and makes it ours to won. Whew!!!
Rhys and Desniah's the mountainous paths of rough terrain in their lives seeking clarity. Desniah and London's life lessons pulled at my heart strings and left me wondering if I could be as brave and forthright with my personal demons as Desniah and Rhys. In this installment of London Brown series, the sensual aspects of the storyline is not the only key used to unlock the treasures found in the Hope Chest of love and devotion.
Rhys captured my heart as he did Desniah however, differently and as I followed him I developed a strong connection with all aspects of him. Rhys is quite the handsome, debonair, regal man of power, and carnality. His protective shield for the woman he loves, Desniah Williams is not to be toyed with. When it comes to his “Dove” there is nothing that can distract him. Many readers realize that the pages of Loss and the other novellas of London Brown series loaded with the complexities of a gigantic balancing act related to tragic incidents as the series unfolds.
Desniah, is a beautiful, intelligent, wealthy woman of African ancestry who loves deeply and struggles with her determination to please. She knows pain, sorrow, being in constant conflict with herself and some of the people she holds dear.
As I read Loss, I felt the powerful energies drawing me in after the first page and I hung on for dear life to the last punctuation mark.
OMG as always, Ms. DeSint places such dynamic intensities in her characters, plot and resolution making her writing so compelling to me. Ms. De Sint's narrative on many levels of its erotism is so deep and thought provoking it can encourage a reader to look deep within oneself and perhaps pull back the heavy blankets that cover up the authentic characteristics that make each of us the unique individuals we have become.
Ms. DeSint uses family, societal influences, religion, intimacies and sensual creativity to spotlight how all of these factors impact one's life be it positive or negative and the coping mechanisms used to survive. Loss is fascinating that I found myself caught up in all of the elements of this well honed narrative. Loss left me with a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the various expressions of love and commitment.
Psalm 34:17-20 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.
