Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.

Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.

Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.

In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.

Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.

An exciting one day read. I was not too ready for this and didn't expect the author to leave me hanging and dripping for more. We were opened up, quickly learning these ladies and their lives and wasn't ready not to see them to the end. Each lady has more to tell us. Go ahead in reading the quick read then join me in pushing the writer to tell us what happens to each one of these friends. I don't believe I looked over book 2......if I did, please tell me where to find these women so I can see what happened to them. Have a good day....now don't forget to join me. Lol

This is the hood version of sitcom Girlfriends. These girls are something else. There were a few typo's but I don't feel that it took away from the story. Action packed from the start.

The book started off kind of slow, but in the end it was a good overall read. I love how he wrote it in a way that every few paragraphs, the story kept switching between each of the character's point of view. That particular writing style is what kept the storyline suspenseful. You'll find yourself really attaching and being able to relate to certain characters, as the author did a good job with character development. My least favorite character was Tammy. I didn't like how the author didn't deviate from the typical "Baby mama going to see her man in jail" storyline until almost the middle to the end. She kept going through the exact same thing, chapter after chapter. I wish he would've added more twists and turns in Tammy's life throughout the book, like he did with the other characters, instead of waiting until almost the end to add some spice/flare to her story. Lisa's storyline was more suspenseful. You'll find yourself rooting for certain characters to win (Kim or Falisha), while yet hating the "villians" with a passion at the same time. I wouldn't be surprised if 1/2 of his fan base wanted Falisha to win, while the other 1/2 wanted her competition, Kim to get the man in the end. It did take me about 2 days to read this book, but that's only b/c it wasn't 1 of those good enough reads that one reads in 1 day. It wasn't great, but it was good. Would I read a part 2? Yes. Am I content with how this book ended though? Yes.

The story started out very exciting! I was sooo into it and the whole drama with Lisa, Ralph and Dre. Then it just went downhill and I started noticing a lot of errors. Ex: when Takisha found out she was pregnant at the doctor office she was "6 months" a few chapters later they said she wasn't even 4 months yet. It's like the two diff authors weren't keeping up with each other's story . I'm not sure what was going on but towards the end I was pretty much over it.

I loved the storylines- Each character was interesting in their own right. I listened to it on audiobook-- and probably would've enjoyed it better, had I read it myself. I say this because the narrator tried to use a "blaccent" (What non-black people think black people sound like... Stop it. Its annoying... We don't all sound like that...) that was truly disturbing. Its a little annoying and insulting, because it implies that we all sound the same, all come from the same place, all have the same education, and same life experiences... At one point she made one of the characters go from sounding college educated to 8th grade middle school drop-out... almost like she forgot the character was "supposed to be black", and she forgot to "black it up"- 🤣 but I digress...)

Aside from the narrator, the story was captivating, even though some of the outcomes were predictable or cliche. I like that you could have multiple opinions about each character. There was no "true" villain (except for Chris' cousins and crew) and each character was well-developed and showed moments of vulnerability. Altogether it was an enjoyable read.

An alright read
* I hated Lisa from the start she should be dubbed the black widow smh
*Falisha was just your everyday hood chick nothing spectacular
*wish we knew more about Kim she was a feminist
*Lamar he was good In the beginning then started being reckless with his 7 inches lmao
*Ralphie pisse d me off he had every opportunity and didn't do right
*fox was a smooth dude wanted more of him
*Mrs. D WAS the icing on the cake In this book
*I just knew Darious was just too good to be true and Tammy fell for the shit smh
*Ugh Chris wrong and a liar if he's a crazy as his brother he needs to stay his ass in jail.
This was like reading the hood version of girlfriends not to special of memorable for me fun in some parts, typos, then predictable

Unprotected sex is the bane of existence. Lamar had Falisha and Kim, on paper, best friends, pregnant at the same time. Lisa was just dumb. Screwing your ex while staying in a cabin with your husband. Tammy struggled while her man was in jail expecting loyalty. The surprise she received was real. There was some drug dealing. Ralphy was a former hard guy who went back to the streets. This was not one of Blake Karrington's better novels.

Wow. Can't believe how fast these books on Kindle are. I hope that I have read the whole thing. But anyway wow. This Lisa chick is something else and poor Tammy I hope something good happens for her. It's a shame that her Landlord offered to help her in such an offensive way. I hope Falisha and Lamar end up together and happy

It was cool

I am trying to understand the authors writing style it is a bit chaotic. I won't lie I absolutely lobe the story and it gets me going and interested. It is just everything is happening so fast I am trying to wrap my mind around the concepts.

This is an awesome series. I listened to it in the car while traveling, then went back and re-read it. It was like reading it for the first time. It was just that enjoyable. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

I listened to the audio book which i believe is the entire series of books. It was a roller coaster ride of x-rated drama, but that is what i had signed up for so i mostly enjoyed it, some of it was just way over the top.

With friends like this so needs enemies? Everyone of these relationships and friendships were toxic. It was like girlfriend if everyone secretly hated each other. Definitely entertaining. I kept picturing this being țurned into a Tyler Perry series.

Very good read, i do not recommend the audiobook given the inflections and hard R’s the narrator was slinging around (iykyk). Definite must read, suspense and joy ran throughout this book.

As usual,  Blake Karrigton delivers another hit! He has Chris Booker on board for this series and while he's a new author to me, he did an outstanding job on this collaboration as well. I couldn't tell who wrote which parts but their writing styles blended together as smoothly as red wine and Italian food!
I typically don't like how men portray sistahs in urban literature but he gave these ladies a good look.
We are introduced to Tammy, Lisa, Ralphy, Falisha, Lamar and Kim.
Tammy is holding it down on her own with two kids from her high school sweetheart Chris, while he does a bid. She's faced with a low paying job and lots of high bills. Chris can't do much for her behind bars but its not his fault and she knows he was just trying to feed his family when he got arrested. She's trying to be strong but her landlord is on her back; even propositioning her sexually, they cut her welfare because they want her to put Chris on child support and her lights are due to be cut off. She's at her wits end and running out if options.
Lisa is married to Ralphy and currently cheating on him with her recently released from prison high school sweetheart, Dré. While she loves her husband and father of her 4 year old daughter, Naomi, he just can't do her body like Dré can! She knows she is wrong but love and lust are in play, making it hard to break away. On a weekend getaway with her husband, she has Dré in the next cabin over and sneaks out for a rendezvous with him. She makes the mistake of falling asleep and wakes up to the sunrise. How will she explain this to her awaiting husband?
Ralphy loves his wife and daughter more than anything. He works hard, he tries hard and he left behind a life in the streets to become a family man. He throws his all into his family and would do anything for them. Being from the streets were loyalty is everything, he can deal with a lot of things but betrayal is something Lisa knows he cannot. Ralphy doesn't deserve this and Lisa knows it. Is he as naïve as he appears or will he catch on and catch her?
Falisha has beauty and body. She is used to using what she has to get what she wants. And like many others, Lamar wants her! She doesn't take him seriously because they have been friends since high school and she doesn't fell he has deep enough pockets, although he always seems to have money but no job to show for it. But he's serious as ever. One night he propositions her and tells her to name a price. She does and he delivers. She is shocked but he gets her attention finally.
She takes him up on his offer and they spend the night on the town and finish it off with mind blowing sex! Now they just need to see where this road will take them.
Falisha was not exactly single and had her reasons for not wanting to dive in with Lamar so quickly. But she cannot deny her feelings for him have changed and she sees him differently. Will she blow this chance at something real for something superficial?
Kim is a sexy, single independent paralegal who is Lamar's roommate and long time friend. She is going through a drought and in need of someone to handle things for her sexually. She is focused on school,  work and passing the bar. A relationship is not on her agenda. But is that what she feels or is she pretending?
The tone is set in Episode 1 and draws you into the storyline. You are glued to the pages as you see where their lives are headed. Episode 2 is sure to follow up and answer questions left hanging in the balance of this juicy series! Get your copy and get into these ladies here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E...

Review:
Single Ladies is a good short story. This is my first time to reading from Blake Karrington and Chris Booker. Both authors did a good job.

Likes:
The main characters are Lisa, Tammy, Falisha, Kim, Lamar, Dre, and Ralph. Ralph is a handsome, intelligent, educate, and mature person. He is a good husband, loyal, father and faithful to Lisa. Each of females have their own problem. Single Ladies is a reality short story.

Problems:
Tammy has her own problem issues. She is struggling with her rent, job and everything.
Falisha is a whore but she is not ready setting down in a relationship with Lamar.
Kim is a nosy.
Lisa is something else. She is still in love with her ex Dre but she is still married to Ralph. She needs to chill out before Ralph will found out about she is cheating on him with her ex Dre.

Recommend:
I enjoyed reading this book. Single Ladies is good book to read. Blake Karrington and Chris Bookers take their time to write this book.

Rating:
I choose 5.5 stars for this book because this book and author deserve 5.5 stars.

I am looking forward to reading another from this author. I am looking forward to read part 2 of Single Ladies.

Good Job
Sandra!!!
