The summer crowds have descended on the playground of the rich, where no one is prepared for what arrives next…
When laid-back local Alec Costner makes his usual late-night visit to his favorite East Hampton beach, he hears screams coming from an oceanfront mansion. A moment later, he sees a naked woman plunge into the waves. Trying to save her, he watches in disbelief as two other women suddenly surface in the dark sea, taking the naked woman with them. At the mansion where the screams originated, is a dead millionaire, his neck twisted and broken. Within days, a scientist arrives, intent on finding evidence for the existence of mermaids. Soon, strange and terrifying encounters are documented. And men begin to disappear. The lure of the siren’s song is proving to be as lethal as it’s always been.
From the Hamptons to England, to the dark recesses of History itself, Robert Woolcott’s novel takes readers on a journey they will never forget.
the book wasn't all to good, it was exciting believe me, but it didn't bring a sense of reality to me. I enjoyed the part when The author involved A Christopher Columbus Diary entry. Overall, the book was decent and wouldn't mind reading a future sequel, hopefully!
loved this book I really like mermaids so of course it got my attentions/ Makes you wonder if they were really true. I actually like the theory that they returned to walk the land in order to find a mate to get pregnant to be honest I actually laughed (even though it is not funny) when she killed that man let me explain this because it is later in the book that you actually find out what happened but it was so sad also but at least she felt she did justice to what he was trying to do to her so is it really wrong for a female to protect herself. In my opinion hell no all women have a right to protect themselves WHENEVER they feel another is going to hurt them (not promoting to kill another person) maybe the situation could have been different but this also happens in every day life so I actually enjoyed that part of the book I personally think that it showed that not all people are mean and it also shows if you have money then police is more willing to help??? as oppose to if you don't.........It so funny but this book reads about every day life to most people especially were police as concerned.......I would recommend this book to any one especially females just so you know to have strength and to know not all men are a$$holes
The Mermaid Coast was an interesting read. It definitely peeked my curiosity and I found myself doing quick internet searches to see photos of or read additional info on certain historical places and/or facts.
My husband tells me I'm always trying to predict what's going to happen and fixate on certain things, so the book probably deserves more than 3 stars. I felt that parts of the book were drawn out and *trying not to spoil anything* what I assume was supposed to be a twist was pretty obvious. Maybe it wasn't actually supposed to be a twist, I just was glad it was finally said so the book would get past it.
I received my copy through Goodreads First Reads giveaway.
The mermaid coast is a thrilling read of the mystery of mermaids and their possible existence. A "da vinci code" to the folk lore that will keep you asking questions and turning pages. The story is set in East Hampton where a very old ritual turns one mans life upside down in his attempt to make sense of the so-thought impossible. Full of twists and surprises, Mermaid coast is a must read for anyone who enjoys old folklore with a modern twist.
