My Review:
Whoa...what a way to start a book. Zena is a succubus and she starts out the book doing what she does best...pleasuring a stranger. Bhyrne has been sent to bring her back to the queen, but he has a small problem...he's going into Breedheat which makes him seriously horny, but even without that he'd have a really hard time resisting the pull to Zena. They have instant, amazing chemistry that they are both feeling.

Loved, loved, LOVED this book! Omg, it was sexy. Bhyrne is in such a bad way, but he has an iron will which is really impressive considering who he's dealing with. The story was great. I liked every single bit of Bhyrne and how protective he is of Zena even though he's the one in charge of making sure that she gets to the Queen's place. Once he gets her there, he backs her up, even at a great risk to himself.

It was just a pure smexy story and has definitely been my favorite of the series. Highly recommend!

This book is SCORCHING HOT! Don't get me wrong, the other books in this series were delicious, but Taryn Kincaid turned up the heat in a BIG WAY for Zena and Bhyrne's story. *fans self*

Honestly, both Zena and Bhyrne are in tough situations. Zena needs to fulfill her royal duty and find a mate and Bhyrne is having his man-time. That doesn't sound right. He's having his man mating time. No, still not right. He's in heat and he needs to find the right person to mate with. THAT! Good thing Madame Eve is on hand to make sure these two do the right thing and hook up.

Sexy as hell and hot enough to melt your panties. You know, I kinda love the supernaturals who live in Sleepy Hollow. They're full of sass and sexy times. I LIKE BOTH THOSE THINGS!

Zena Night, sister of Lily and Dagney (from previous stories), is a succubus who is happy with her life of one-night stands and anytime-she-wants-it sex. But then she encounters Bhyrne Raines, head of the Queen Succubus's guard, and suddenly she wants more.

Bhyrne, a fire demon and cousin to Max Raines (previous story), worked his way up the ladder as a free demon and prides himself on his cold, stone demeanor. But after one look at Zena, he is precarious close to throwing it all away. Not only is she extremely tempting, but as Bhyrne enters his "breedspawn," his biological drive to take a mate may crumble his last defense. So cousin Max sets Bhyrne up with Madame Eve and 1Night Stand.

Heat Wave is the fourth novella in the enjoyable Sleepy Hollow series. Like its predecessors, the story focuses on a pair individuals, each using 1Night Stand (1NS) to find a hot date or companion. However, Heat Wave veers off in a different direction in that Bhyrne and Zena are both put into situations that mostly force them to find a mate. I felt that the use of 1NS in this story was a bit contrived and almost an after-thought, rather than the driving force bringing together the couple, and possibly would have been better without it.

With that said, the Zena and Bhyrne made a fun pair, and the duo is hot together. Their coupling is intense, although not overly romantic or passionate. I think that is due to the fact that they basically found themselves forced into the mating situation, rather than being free to have time to develop a deeper relationship first. But they do share an immediate and powerful mutual attraction, which is why their relationship works. One thing though, I would have liked to see the repercussions resulting from their mating.

One of the things I loved about the novella is the Black Dagger Brotherhood references! First in the name "Bhyrne" whether intentional or not - it's such a Brotherhood name. He's a fire demon and his name is “burn” with an “h” and a “y.” Second, there is mention of consuming Lagavulin with passing reference to a tough vampire that drinks it. Finally, the “breedspawn” state is eerily similar to the “needing” that the female vampires experience in the BDB series. I found these and a couple other references simply awesome!

In the end, Heat Wave is an enjoyable tale that is completely stand alone, with only references to and involvement of characters from the prior tales. However, I felt it just didn't have the emotional punch that the earlier stories did. Heat Wave was more about the sexual encounter, which was pretty hot.

Let me start by saying I am a fan of the Sleepy Hollow series and 1Night Stand collection. While this book fits in with the Sleepy Hollow series I thought it was stretched to fit the 1Night Stand requirements. It did not really feel like the typical 1NS and really felt forced. There was a definite moment when the characters could have gotten together without Madame Eve and the story still would have flowed nicely.

Aside from that complaint I really enjoyed the book! The story was engaging and interesting. And the characters dynamic.

Zena is a little much at first. She really straddles the line between sexually confident and slutty. But she is a succubus so it sort of suits her. I love all her sass! She is a really spunky gal once you get to know her! She is just sassy enough to pull it off!

Bhyrne is one sexy fire demon!! And the way he fights his attraction to Zena is commendable. But the way he gives in is even better!! Sign me up when the next Fire Sex Demon goes into breedspawn!

The steam factor here is off the charts! I mean come on the book starts with a BJ and a touch of voyeurism Super naughty!! I believe the lust between the two but am not sure about love. There was a definite liking in the whole attraction. Loads of lust here and plenty of attraction. I can imagine they will develop into a great love from the burning passion they show in this book.

I really liked the visit with Max and Dagney as well! They are one of my fav couple in the series!!

I hope we see more Sleepy Hollow but not forced into a 1NS or other collection. I like it best when the story flows without a gimmick taking you off track. That is just my humble opinion.

Can I just start off by saying this story was aptly named? * fans face* Smoke rose from the pages starting with the first paragraph! Of course, when you’re dealing with a succubus, what do you expect? Zena Night is a woman with a destiny she never wanted. Closed off and tough she’s stayed far away from the Fae realm, but not the time has come for the prodigal princess to return. I like a woman with a strong personality, but I didn’t really care for Zena at first. As she opened up and showed her softer side and what she’d been through growing up I changed my opinion. Ms. Kincaid did one heck of a job with her transition.

The man sent in after her is a demon who’d tempt a saint. Bhryne Raine is all male with his large frame, gravely voice, and dogged sense of duty. Despite his stoic outward appearance, lava runs through his veins, literally he’s a fire-sex demon. See, told you he was hot. * winks. One of the Queen’s persona guards, he was the only choice to pick up the elusive princess. Problem is he’s just entered his team of heat, known as breedspawn, which makes this mission a whole lot more interesting.

This characters burst off the pages and the connection between them is flammable with a capital F! While this is a part of a series it easily stands alone. I highly recommend it.

This was an interesting book. I don’t know how much I enjoyed how it started, but after that the fun began. I liked the cameo from the last book in the Sleepy Hollow series, and I loved the BDB reference. I also appreciated that “breedspawn” for the demons is like a needing from BDB only for the opposite gender – too funny to me as a fan. The ending totally got to me – totally sweet. I was a little sad it was so short, but worth it. For a short story, it was hot and tender.

Heat Wave will have you wanting a cold shower…or someone to share the heat with *wink*. Grab it for a fun quick read!

Madame Eve strikes again!

Decadent Publishing’s 1 Night Stand (1NS) series is my go-to for quick, sexy reads.

This story is smokin’ HOT!! The book is aptly named and I cannot believe that I have not discovered Taryn Kincaid before!

I loved the author’s use of popular slang in the vernacular. I absolutely adored Zena! Her witty dialogue had me laughing out loud!

“Still, she didn’t relish getting sluttified and tagged by a double standard that applauded man-whores for their manic sexual escapades, while whamming her with the bitch slapdown.” – Well said Zena!

Bhyrne Raines definitely lives up to his name! This demon is all kinds of sexy! I thought his level-headed demeanor as the Queen’s enforcer was balanced beautifully by the crazy, out-of-control succubus! I was so glad Madame Eve paired these two up because their coupling was explosive! I loved the characters, I loved it all!

Taryn had me at hellfire and cotton candy! I highly recommend this series to everyone!

My Rating: ❤❤❤❤
VERY GOOD: The characteristics of a 4 heart book include: a great story; I loved the characters; and there was an interesting plot and unique story elements; there may have been a few odd things kept the story from being amazing. I would read it again and I would recommend it to a friend.
My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed reading Zena's story in Heat Wave. As one of the famed Night sisters, Zena is the most brazen and bodacious of the trio. Her escapades...or rather sexcapades, bring her to the attention of the succubi queen who demands that Zena take a consort. Enter Bhyrne Raines, the queen's enforcer and her new brother in law's cousin. Bhyrne is sent to bring Zena back to the demon realm when she declines the queen's prior summons. Zena and Bhyrne smoke up the pages of this short and sexy read. But also in this story we get to see that Zena isn't the man-eater than she portrays. We see her insecurity but also her care for someone else on a deeper level. Loved the story.

One of the things I love about the 1NS series is that, while they are a shared world, they are all so different. This is my first 1NS by Taryn Kincaid. I will admit, I was expecting a "I sent an email to Madame Eve and am so nervous for my match" type story. I love them, so I would have been super happy with that. I was, however, pleasantly surprised by the way Tarn brought Madame Eve into this tale. Taryn created a very steamy 1NS with a fun world. The characters were likable and seeing them connect during this less than ideal situation was fun. I am looking forward to reading more Sleepy Hollow tales. This is not the first Sleepy Hollow 1NS she has written, but I never felt like I was "missing" key info or gaining spoilers by reading this one first. I do know who one of the couples will be, but I would know that from reading the synopsis of their story, so I did not feel it ruined anything for me.

After seeing Zena in each of her sister's books, I was thrilled Heat Wave released! Bhyrne is certainly her match, and man, what a scorching hero he is! As always with Ms. Kinkaid, I spend as much time laughing as I do fanning myself when reading her books. Always a pleasure to see a new release from Taryn Kinkaid!
