"LIGHTNING BLAST"

With high morals, imagination and a delicious craze for fantasy, The Rostical Guild and The Rostical Users were born.

Written like it's a script from a video game in an originally styled script, we hope to see our adventures on the big screen one day.

Michael Rogers, an author that absolutely hates reading (even his own series) and has never read a full adult sized book in his life, is a prime example that you can do anything once you've set yourself a goal or dream.

He has poured his life, sweat, tears and blood (yes, paper cuts hurt!) into his work. It may not be the literature you're used to, but he guarantees, if you give it a go, you'll fall in love with the characters like he has.

Any questions or enquiries, you may contact me here; rostical@live.com
I'll always try and respond :).

“Sceldrant's Comet” is book one of the six book series, The Rostical Guild, by Michael Rogers. It tells the story of Rachael, a young adult who helps her father's paintballing business from going astray while he's out in overseas meetings. When she watches a strange comet "Sceldrant's Comet", she finds herself thrusted into a strange and dangerous world with little to no help, except for crazy captains.

The story is pretty straightforward. Rachael (with Twortz) needs to return home, but they have no idea how to get there. They find some unlikely friends along the way and learn the ways of Rostical.

Eventually, they find themselves in the largest city in the world (all kept hidden on a small island inside a Spacial Funnel) and use its database to find any clues about Earth or getting back to it.

After hearing bad news, they form a guild all through a seven year old boy and that was a scene which watered my eyes, maybe it was because of the innocence Karol seems to be portrayed?

Strengths: there are a couple: most notably the different morals or characteristics of each characters. When reading the start of a series, I find myself initially confused with each character until they "grow" on you. How attaching the Author makes you feel for each character. For example, right near the start when Rachael got transported to the strange world, I was under the impression she might have died from that Scoldrant (rock golem).

Weaknesses: a few typos (at least the version I got) and Lezard's randomness? He's funny, but someone going "Ooo, plot twist." or "Holy fish cakes" some times lowered the dramatic effect of some scenes.

Overall, I liked this just as much if not more than The Rostical User's series (as of right now). And like The Rostical Users, with Lance, Luna is also the one that currently shines out to be the more "out there" character.

The story ends as a prequel which I didn't see coming and you DON'T need to read The Rostical Users to fully enjoy this book! 4.5 from me, but I rounded it up.

Look forward to the next in the series and I recommend you give this a try and if you have, read the next series while you wait.

The Rostical Guild: Sceldrant's Comet. The first chapter follows different characters at different worlds. You have young adults to teenagers from Earth and another set of characters that live in a mystical world where fantasy lovers can drool over.

The way the Author skips between these characters is well written as you'd either get bored and the scene would drag out.
Later in the book their stories combine and the story follows the whole "party".

Each character is vastly different. My favorite is Rachel. She's strong willed, powerful and down to Earth. She's a strong lead despite not knowing much about the new world.

Luna, her reaction to finding out about her situation was well done and little funny (to me). I found her swearing a little rude, but it gave her character depth and I would probably do the same.

There's really interesting ideas like the interaction between a creature named Destiny that can understand what Luna wants.

Like in the book's description, it's like I'm reading a script of some sorts and I'd really think this would be an amazing audiobook.

Due to some errors and confusing sentences, I would rate this a 4.5.
I would never rate anything a 5 unless I cried (just the kind of reader I am).

Since there's another series called The Rostical Users, I'll give that a try while I wait for the other instalment to this series.

This was a very strange book, I like it though, and finished it a lot sooner than I thought I would, considering how large it is. A recommended read for those who play RPG games or like to watch anime, I do both so that’s probably why this novel intrigued me so.

Sceldrant's Comet is like the author says based on video game play. It was more like reading a manga without the pictures though, we start out on Earth with all of our characters living their mundane lives waiting for a phenomenon called Sceldrant's Comet, but when it finally comes and they’re all sitting on their roof watching they are suddenly transported to a fantasy like world where people have powers and magical weapons. As soon as they come to this strange new land they are immediately pegged as outsiders, and with the help of a few misfit characters start their journey to finding their way back home. They discover they have individual powers, and they fit surprisingly well into this foreign land as the story progresses.

I believe that this novel needs more editing time; the author obviously has the story line down and fulfills it marvelously, but this could easily be condensed into a shorter story or into several books, the latter of which would be my suggestion. Right now the length of the story seems tedious, and there are more than one scene where you’re tempted to jump a few pages because you find yourself bored. Also there were more than a few grammatical errors that need to be addressed because it distracts you from the story.

One of the really neat things about this story was that I didn’t see the characters as actual people, I saw anime characters, which may have something to do with the cover of this novel but even their thoughts and actions resemble characters from amines. So before you read this book you may want to watch at least one anime because otherwise you’ll probably be slightly lost on their actions and words.

I was mildly annoyed by this book sometimes because some of the characters actions were unbelievable, or what they said seemed random and not realistic. I think some more time on character development could be used, because often I would be confused by who was who, even though it was laid right in front of you before they even started talking.

The format of this is what sets the book off from others, the format shows who’s speaking like this “Sally: Blah-Blah.” So you always know who is speaking, who’s going to speak and when a random new character comes into the mix because their name will show up as question marks, which I think is a really good idea. Even the descriptions will come from characters chatter, which is one of the reasons the book was very strange.

Okay first things first.
I came here believing this was a manga. I've noticed that most of the negative reviews this series has is either its original formatting or people thinking it was a manga.
It was free on kindle so I downloaded and NEVER LOOKED BACK.

CHARACTERS
There's five to six main characters and I think it's really well done how Micheal was about to do this without drowning out the other characters.
Luna was one of the most immature and my least enjoyable character to read. I would roll my eyes before she did, but by the time it was the third book, I absolutely adored her and related to her pain. The characters are MEANT to be immature and their character development is something from AAA games or anime.

STORY
The story is more character driven and you're fed clues on what the story is about. It isn't until the end of Desert Dragon that everything starts to fall in place. This is a good example that Micheal has planned ahead.

CONS
Well, he isn't afraid to kill off characters. I was really upset and angry when he killed off my most adored character. I was honestly about to drop the series [I can't tell if it's good writing or bad that it made me feel like this].
Lezard.. His role is the comedy relief character. At times, he'll make you laugh out loud. Other times, you just want him to shut up. He gets worse but better later as the story develops. But I love how he has the ability to heal people.
If you are from a literature background, you will not like this story hands down.

PROS
I 100% that this will become mainstream one day. If you disagree, then you're either not liking the formatting or thought it was a manga. The level of dialogue was some of the best, but also the worst I've seen.
I WANT TO HEAR THIS AS AN AUDIOBOOK- MAKE IT HAPPEN.
CHARACTERS CHARACTERS CHARACTERS.
The magic system is one of the best in any fantasy series I've read.
Anime and JRPG references, LOVE IT.
If you haven't given this a chance, it's your loss!

I'm going to back this series up. I truly see potential.

Coming from the user series, this is an incredible leap in quality, not only with the writing, but the way the characters interact. It's even as great as Tales of series, if you played them it's like the "skits".

So much to say. Love how there's a blind archer that uses lightning and wind arrows.

This-like, was-like, the-like, most-like, boring-like, book-like that I ever read. If only I didn't have a condition that I need to finish the book I started, I would throw it away even before the end of the first chapter.
Dull, strange dialogues, script-like composition, characters describing what they are seeing, strange incantations - nothing in this book is worth spending time on it.

I want my time back.

This book might be a diamond in the ruff. I could not not finish. I could not even get through half the first chapter. The writing style was similar to a dialogue of a play. It also kept jumping all over the place without building any ground to stand on. I really wanted to read it. It might get better I just could not get to that point.

Characters from Earth getting transported to another world filled with Rostical/Magic. I get that same excited feeling when I first read The Rostical Users. Right near the end you see Ashton and Lance waking up in the same world, exactly how it happened in Book 1 of the previous series. Does this mean it follows the same timeline? How would the Author manage to do that? I'm really excited to find out more and Twortz being able to manipulate sound, not often in fantasy novels people with sound based abilities can be interesting, but the way the characters are fleshed out (including their flaws) makes this a fantastic series. I'm once again hooked! I advise you to give this a read to the end and prove me wrong?
