direct sayings during the journey that imam Hussein took from Medina to Kerbala where he was killed with 72 other members of his family and friends and acolytes. who was Imam Hussain? The Prophets of Islams's grandson. just to put this in context. can you imagine if Jesus had a grand child who was then essentially killed by other CHRISTIANS. but not just killed, massacred in a one sided war along with this grand child's own children (one as young as 6 months circa) , uncles, brothers, half brothers. now imagine if the close women in this parsons retinue who also accompanied him to this "war" and after the massacre of the able bodied men (72) were made to march from Iraq to Syria with the heads of their deceased men on the end of spears all the way in complete ridicule. now imagine if half (over half) of Christianity didn't know or equally as bad didnt appreciate the significance of these deaths.

famous quotes about Imam Hussain:

“If Husain had fought to quench his worldly desires…then I do not understand why his sister, wife, and children accompanied him. It stands to reason therefore, that he sacrificed purely for Islam.” - Charles Dickens

“The best lesson which we get fromthe tragedy of Cerebella is that Husain and his companions were rigid believers in God. They illustrated that the numerical superiority does not count when it comes to the truth and the falsehood. The victory of Husain, despite his minority, marvels me!” - Thomas Carlyle

“I learnt from Hussain how to achieve victory while being oppressed.” - Ghandi

"In a distant age and climate the tragic scene of the death of Hussain will awaken the sympathy of the coldest reader." - Edward Gibbon

"In order to keep alive justice and truth, instead of an army or weapons, success can be achieved by sacrificing lives, exactly what Imam Hussain did." -
Rabindranath Tagore
