“I dream about her, about her smell, her laugh, the way her beautiful blue eyes change color when we make love. I crave her lips the way an addict craves his next hit. She’s in my head twenty four seven, spread all over into my veins destroying every bit of my sanity."
What do you do when everything you’ve ever loved is taken away from you? You hide away from the world and wait for the end to come. That’s exactly what Jennifer Harmon does and she's pretty good at it. Nothing can help her come out of her depression. Not the doctors, not the meds, not even her mother.
David Watkinson knows all about the pain of losing someone. It’s been two years since his wife died in a tragic car accident. For two years his life revolved around his little daughter, Lily.
Then one morning he catches a glimpse of the new neighbor, Jennifer, and something triggers his interest. Everything about her pulls him in and he’s instantly all wrapped up in her. The only problem is that he doesn’t know if Jen feels the same way. The attraction is strong and undeniable, but Jen is too scared to give love a second chance. Can the two learn to love again?
I live in California with my amazing hubby of 22 years and our three handsome sons. For as long as I can remember I loved reading and that love only grew stronger with age. My first book Loving Sofia was my first attempt at writing and while not perfect, it gave me a chance to turn a dream into reality and share my story with you. Make sure to stop by my facebook page for book updates and other fun stuff: http://www.facebook.com/Alina-Man. Thank you so much for all your support. Many blessings to you all.
It started out really interesting, then it became a drag.... I keep hoping it'll pick up, but maybe it's just me, but there was nothing really interesting that was happening… it was just boring.
Written in 2 POV's. Hotness factor it was okay, the plot was interesting but just didn't really get interesting enough.... add some editing problem... so that wasn't good.
Jennifer' character I get it at first but nah, she became just dull and irritating.
David was alright, he sound like a great father though I question how he would have fallen for Jennifer from the start when she was nothing but a bitch to him in front of his daughter.
Jenny has been brutalized as well as traumatized in one of the most horrific ways. She has suffered a tragic loss by double. She has lost her spark for life and is going through the motions trying to get by. Jenny's mother Kate has tried everything to help her heal but it falls on deaf ears. Jenny has shut out the world as well as people until... David and Lily waltz into her life.
David is Jenny's new neighbor. Jenny has just moved into a quiet, tiny neighborhood where she thinks no one will bother her. She is wrong on all counts. David knows pain, loss and can see it written on Jenny's face. He can't help but feel intrigued and want to get to know her. You see David is raising his daughter by himself after the loss of his wife. David had no choice but to keep living, moving for his daughter Lily's sake. Time and again he seeks her out trying to bring her out of her shell but she shuts him down on all fronts. With a little advice from Kate Jenny's mama he continues his attempts. Kate can see there is something sparking between her daughter & David so she feels he his her last hope to get her daughter back. David's persistence pans out and Jenny starts to open up and her heart thaws bit by bit.
Jenny realizes with David and Lily's presence in her life she can possibly find happiness again. A smile here, a joke there, a little girl's giggle or snuggle she can't help but melt and yearn for more. Their friendship melds into a sweet relationship filled with tenderness & some cute, silly, sarcastic banter but it is short-lived when they hit a patch.
I don't want to spoil any further details... I suggest you go Grab a Copy Today!!!

This is the line on page 30 that made me do a double take. The author in her acknowledgments thanked her editor, so I assumed Broken had been edited. Unless Mother Nature can contemplate an answer for the heroine, I have come to the conclusion this book wasn't edited at all.
There are other examples to prove this book was poorly edited. It's also poorly written and should have never been published as is. It reads much like a first draft. There is a lack of comma placement, as in no comma used when a person is mentioned a sentence as they are talked to. There is also overuse of names used when a person, mainly the heroine is talking to that person. The writing is very convoluted and hard to follow. Also the abundance of "babe" and "baby" is grating. The heroine's thoughts are all over the place and the introduction of her love interest doesn't really make sense.
I love Alina Man. I love her style and I was once again not disappointed with Broken. Broken, as the title suggests, is a story of two broken people who find each other and try to make sense of this thing we call love and life. Jennifer and David are both widowed. Both have endured horrific pain and loss, through quite different. Jennifer had personal demons and the questions is... is she willing to face them to embrace what could be with David? This is a heartbreakingly sweet story that is easy to become involved in. I finished it in one sitting and I highly recommend it! Alina's BEST work to date! **Received an ARC for an honest review.**
I liked this story and found it easy to read although there were a couple of things I was confused about but I'm sure I will figure them out. Would probably rate 3-3.5
Not your usual love story as both main characters have been hurt pretty bad in the past. In fact Jennifer is seriously broken (hence the title) and is having a hard time coming to terms with her feelings for David. She still has emotional meltdowns on occasions which just add to the storyline.
If you want to read something different than the norm then this is a good choice.
Really not suitable for people under 17 due to some of the content although it's not as bad as some movies
I always find it funny having to rate my own books. All I can say is that this is my best one yet. I truly believe that. I've learned so much since I first started this journey and I think you'll be able to tell after you read this story. It may not be your typical love story and it's definitely not the "hot and heavy" kind. But it will make you smile and feel all good inside. Don't take my word for it... go get the book and judge for yourself.
