From the creators of Crew + Co. comes a gorgeous 40-day devotional resource that will inspire reflection and encourage Christian creatives to make Scripture reading a daily practice in their lives.
Abundant Grace, the debut book from Crew + Co. founders Courtney and Will Kassner, invites creative believers to meditate on and engage with Scripture daily, with devotions that are accessible, beautifully designed, and deeply encouraging. Divided into three parts—Knowing God's Grace, Trusting God's Grace, and Showing God's Grace—this forty-day devotional guides you in recognizing the small moments of grace around you and teaches you how to cultivate a grace-filled perspective in even the busiest lifestyle.
Each of the forty days pairs a full-color hand-lettered Bible verse with a thoughtful devotion that closes with either a prayer or a reflection question for helping you recognize how God’s grace works in your normal, everyday life.
“We do not serve a God who needs our spectacular, our fancy, or our bedazzled. We see and know and love a Savior who meets us exactly where we are, no questions asked.”
If you are in need of a fresh reminder of God’s goodness to start your day, with accessible-on-a-time-crunch but reflective devotionals centered around Scripture, then Abundant Grace by Will & Courtney Kassner is for you! This beautifully crafted book is divided into three sections: Knowing God’s Grace, Trusting God’s Grace, and Showing God’s Grace. Each day’s two-page spread includes a bright and colorful calligraphy-lettered Bible verse, some brief (but meaningful) application thoughts, and a section for reflection activities (which switches between questions, prayers, and further Scripture reading). I appreciated the devotionals and how they not only spoke to where I’m at in life but were universally relatable to any Jesus follower, no matter where they’re at in the journey. They reminded me of truths to hold close to my heart and convicted me of ways I’ve taken my eyes off Jesus and onto the busyness or concerns of life. But most of all, they pointed me back to His grace – how I receive it and how I give it.
“In our weakness, our brokenness, and our desperation, He is consistently close. Though seasons change, the promise of His presence never does.”
Bottom Line: Abundant Grace by Will & Courtney Kassner would make a lovely gift for Mother’s Day, graduation, or a birthday. Its vibrant artwork and calligraphy draw the eye, and the devotionals are easy to fit into a busy morning schedule while still giving you takeaways to reflect on. This isn’t intended to be an in-depth Bible study – and it isn’t – but the application of each verse to our daily lives, right where we’re at in the trenches of this crazy world, is nonetheless meaningful, encouraging, and soul-refreshing.
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
Obviously this book is stunning! It has all my favorite elements from the Kassners but their musings on Scripture are so spot on. This is the type of gift I feel really confident giving a friend knowing it will brighten her bedside table and feed her soul.
My thoughts: Abundant Grace is a colorful book of short devotions to start your day. It includes a verse, a thought and something to consider and think about. Sometimes it ends with a prayer. It isn't meaty and for a sincere student of the word, but for someone who wants to spend a little time (about a minute or two) to start the day right this is the book to consider. Would make a good gift. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.
