Moon Stewart has no doubt that the New Amanian way of life is the right way. The only way. But was there ever a time when she felt differently?
In this companion novella to the dystopian bestseller WORLD OF SHELL AND BONE, the secrets of Moon's past are revealed, giving readers a glimpse into the mind of their favorite antagonist.
MOON is roughly 30 pages or 10,000 words long, and is meant to be enjoyed after WORLD OF SHELL AND BONE.
A huge fan of spooky stuff and shoes, S.K. Falls enjoys alternately hitting up the outlet malls and historic graveyards in Charleston, SC where she lives and imbibes coffee. Her husband and two small children seem not to mind when she hastily scribbles novel lines on stray limbs in the absence of notepads.
Since no writer’s biography is complete without mention of her menagerie of animals, you should know she has one dog that doubles as a footstool, a second that functions as a vacuum cleaner, and a cat that ensures she never forgets that her hands are, first and foremost, for pouring cat food.
I really enjoyed this short story/supplement to the overall Glimpsing Stars story arc. However, I will keep this review short and too the point so as not to spoil it! While depressing at times, it offers a glimpse into what is a smaller character (Moon for whom it is titled) in World of Shell and Bones. It really shows how the cultural environment can have an affect on the psyche of a child and who they become. Personally, I really like short stories like these that flesh out a main story ever so slightly.
I am looking very forward to Glimpsing Stars #2 and more from S.K. Falls!
This is a short story, book 1.5 to the Glimpsing Stars series. It took me maybe ten minutes to read. Moon was a side character in the first book, and this short story gives us her backstory. Now I see why she was the way she was. What a horrible future to live in. Good story if you're already reading the series.
Makes you realize who Moon could've turned out to be if she'd had different influences. How situations as a child can turn someone into a whole other person. Still can't stand her though!
