A SCORCHING HOT LOVE THAT STARTED SO MANY YEARS AGO...
A SPY RUNNING FOR HER LIFE Nicola is an injured CIA agent on the run from a failed undercover operation. Her escape plan shatters when she slams into the man who buried her a decade ago. Cash Garrison. Her first and only love. Now, sexier than her best memory and cradling a sniper's rifle, he has questions she can't answer. Why was she alive? And armed?
AND THE MAN SHE COULD NEVER SEE AGAIN Cash is an elite member of a black ops organization, The Titan Group. He thought Nicola died his senior year of college and swore off love to focus on a decade of military missions. But when she shows up behind enemy lines, bleeding out and wielding a weapon, his heart and mind are unsure how to proceed.
BATTLE BETRAYAL TO SAVE THEMSELVES Titan and the CIA join forces to uncover a mole hidden in a network of international terrorists and homegrown mobsters, teaming Cash and Nicola again. They fight old wounds and re-ignite sparks while closing in on a double agent. When disaster strikes, Nicola's hidden past makes her the hunted target and Cash's best kill shot may not be enough to save them.

Each Titan and Delta book can be read as a standalone (except for Sweet Girl), but readers will likely best enjoy the series in order. The Only series must be read in order.

This series is definitely fast-paced, full of action, guns, bombs, kidnappings, and more. This story starts out with Cash Garrison and Roman Hart, who had finished college, joined the Army and then become members of the Titan Group. While on an op, Cash is looking through his gun scope and sees Nicola, Roman’s sister, who was believed dead. Nicola works with the CIA and has become a very skilled field agent. There is a lot of pain for the three as they are reunited. Of course, Roman and Cash want to protect her and she wants them to know that she can take care of herself.
Cash is heartbroken all over again after realizing that she didn’t die and had left him. The story eventually comes out why she was believed dead. Once they head to the Titan home-base, Nicola meets one of the women, Sugar, that Cash has spent time with and the two women have plenty of sharp words for each other which was fun to read. Cash also unexpectedly meets an ex of Nicola’s and he gets the wrong idea and was quite furious.
To be honest I only read this book because I read the prequel and wanted to know how the characters came back together. The language was on the offensive side but I could have actually liked the book if the Heros manwhore ways weren't thrown in the heroines face on a fairly constant basis. I understand their backstory and that he thought she was dead so he went on with his life - no serious relationships though...just fucks (as he calls them). I get that...my problem is that one of his repeat lays is close to the group and will always be around because she is the heroine in the next book. Furthermore, the H tells the h that she just needs to deal with it. He had no compassion for her and didn't even consider that it may bother her having the OW around. To add to the issue the OW openly flirts with the H and he doesn't really shut her down. We all know that if one of the h's past sexual partners was around the H would have a fit. This double standard bothers me. Ultimately though I'm not sure I connected with either character as I found so many flaws with each of them individually.
Really hate second chance stories but I really wanted to continue reading the series. I ended up liking the story, but it was a bit painful. I do not blame Cash since he thought Nic dead. But he was SUCH a huge whore it was gross! I was glad Nic had also moved on. Sugar was a huge bitch and I can't understand how Nic handles her being around.
But the story was excellent and Nic was pretty badass. I am not thrilled to read Sugar's story next since I do not like the slut. But I will because I still want to continue the series and I want to see the big jerk Jared fall!
Absolutely fantastic! Had all the good vibes and feelings. Action packed from start to finish and a wonderful love story. I'm so glad that I read SWEET GIRL first -- you don't have to, but it makes this one even better.
I thought this book had a good premise. A mercenary and master sniper, Cash Garrison, is just about to take out a gunrunning drug lord during the drug lord's party when he lays eyes on a woman hanging off the criminal's arm. He was in love with her once but she's supposed to be dead. She's also the sister of his best friend, another mercenary who happens to be his spotter.
I was under-impressed with Winters Heat, the novel preceding this one and I only bought this one because the excerpt intrigued me. The same problems exist with Garrison's Creed, though. Basically you have pages and pages of inner thoughts lightly peppered with 3 to 5 line exchanges of dialogue. It's downright boring and spurts of action. Even after the sex starts it's boring because they aren't talking to each other. I'm feeling very little chemistry.
As with the previous book, things pick up at the end, but it's a long walk to get there. This one also includes a plot twist that is an actual punchline in writers' rooms in Hollywood. I'll say no more about that.
I'm giving it two and a half stars because I liked Cash more than I thought I would (he was a mediocre joker in the last book and I'd thought that lame humor would continue, but it doesn't).
It's unlikely I'll continue the series, but I may be tempted by a freebie or something.
“Look, Nicola. Now’s the wrong time, I get that. But goddamn, woman, I’m the luckiest bastard alive. Getting to fall in love with you twice. Hell, I’ve never not loved you.” - Cash Garrison
Whoever said that second chances are meant only for couples that broke up? What if you had to leave the man you considered your soul mate to make sure he and your family are safe?
Nicola Hart had to walk out of her loved ones' lives years ago. To make sure they were safe from the mobsters after her head, she faked her death and earned a new identity. Now, years after that dreadful event, Nicola Garrison is shocked to find her brother and his best friend, the one man she has ever oved, in the middle of her failed operation. Cash Garrison has always loved only one woman - everyone else after her meant nothing. But now the sniper of Titan sees things that can only belong in his wildest dreams! Can the girl he once loved still be somewhere in the tough woman he has to work with? What happens to two people meant to be together that find each other again after years of being apart - two people, that may not be the same as they used to be?
If you have read any of my reviews so far, you may have noticed that I'm not exactly fond of couples getting back together. In my - albeit inexperienced - opinion, what is torn apart should never be put back into one piece. But that's just me and my eccentric ideas.
Still, even a cynical bitch like me couldn't stay indifferent to Cash's pain and Nic's anxiety. I assure you, this was one of the few times where I didn't mind a playboy for a male lead, an indecisive female for his other half, and a couple that broke apart and was trying to make it work again. Why? The answer is simple.
Apart from the fact that those two had so much chemistry they simply clicked the minute Nic made her debut appearance in the book, it was easy to see the romance working between them. It wasn't just because they were once good together. It was because they were in sync, and their new, evolved - so to speak - older versions worked for both of them.
Now moving on to more specific grounds: Cash was a miracle! He may not be my most favorite of the group, but he was a real sweetheart. Romantic, overprotective, funny and hot when he demanded things, he was a true he-man. He was a ladies' man in the previous book, but in this one, we got to experience just how hurt he was over Nic's "death". This wasn't your typical "you're the one for me, so I'm stopping chasing after skirts right this instant" scenario. In Cash's case, Nic was always his IT. But seeing as she was "dead", he had to try and move on. A dead lover and the emotional pain this brings - plus the fact you can't really show it to the world, which honestly made me cry, btw - is a pretty good reason to become a bed hopper, if you ask me...
Another pet peeve of mine that didn't bother me here was Nic's inability to decide what the heck she wanted. It usually gets on my nerves, but the poor girl knew things would go wrong if she let her guard down. And she was right! So cudos to her intuition, and her sense of self-sacrifice to keep her loved ones away from her enemies. Plus, she was pretty badass - I only hope she doesn't get soft in the next books because she's got Cash back.
In terms of action, the second book didn't have as much as the first book. Mainly because, in this case, we had to deal with conspiracies and stuff, and the bureaucrats of Langley made it so hard to get to the good part... Even so, it was even more intriguing than Winters Heat and more complicated, seeing as we had to be on alert constantly, not knowing which CIA agent to trust and which to wish dead. Thank God we can always count on the Titan boys to stay out of the awful trap of betrayal~
Now I'm off to Jared's book - hell, yes, Boss Man, get your pants off and prepare to meet your destined reader and fan!
“I’ve loved you every day. Since as far back as I can remember, Cash, I’ve loved you.” - Nicola Garrison

Garrison's Creed is book 2 in Cristin Harber's Titan Series. This story follows Titan's resident gigolo (do people even use that word anymore?), Cash Garrison. We are reminded from the first book, Winter's Heat, that Cash is THE player of the TItan Group, a covert operations organization that does the work that the government can't or won't do. We learn that Cash erected his wall against emotional involvement after he lost the love of his life, who also happens to be the younger sister of his spotter and best friend, Roman. So imagine his surprise when he finds her alive during an operation. Where has she been? Why did she not contact her family? Is she a friend or foe? Will he feel the same for her as he did when they were young lovers? Can they re-kindle their love? Does he even want to?
As a huge fan of romantic suspense, especially of the black ops variety, it takes very little for me to like a book from this genre. Mostly, I'm easy to please as long as it is well written and has likeable characters. However, it take a lot more for me to be impressed by a book. I really enjoyed this second chance story. Nicola is really a character I can get behind and root for. She is a female agent in a male dominated profession. She is constantly having to prove herself and throw off the mantle of needing to be protected by the males in her life. She is smart, can think on her feet, and kick some major ass. So when she is forced to partner with her former lover, how will this partnership work? Figuring out this solution is the fun part - I appreciate the back and forth tension between the two characters.
Garrison's Creed departs from the first book in one very important manner. We avoid a serious case of insta-love. Because the main characters already have an established relationship, we avoid the implausibility factor. I also appreciate the fact that it doesn't take too long for the characters to decide that they are going to be together. The conflict is less about whether Cash and Nicola are going to be together or not, but rather how they are going to make it work. I like it that when Cash decides he's in, he is all in. So for being such a tough guy, we see Cash's sweetness and soft heart.
IN A NUTSHELL: Liked it a lot. This one works for me. Can't wait to tackle the next book.
WOW!! I LOVE this book!! This was an amazing new series for me! I LOVE this author. I am a converted fan!! I skipped the first, but thank GOD I have it! I'm reading it now!!
OK… This is the second book I have read about a woman who was supposed to be dead and is actually alive etc. It's a new concept in these books & it's great! You go through the feeling of anger about the disappearing & the lies that go along with it, if the author's delivery goes well. It definitely did!!
Nicola is on an assignment with the CIA when her mark is killed by a sniper's shot. She needs to be extracted & calls… Something happens (it would be a spoiler to tell) & she escapes running for her life, literally running into her ex-boyfriend & brother who are fighting in the street…
Garrison is a sniper & sees Nicola who is supposed to be dead through his rifle scope. He shoots is mark & then decides to get closer to see if the woman nearby is really his long dead girlfriend. He's pissed because he thinks Ramon, his best friend & Nicola's brother knew she was alive… Hence the street fight.
The whole story is about gun running, double agents, a HOT Black-Ops team & the emergence of a supposedly dead woman… Awesome story!! LOVED IT!! Did I say that already?
Cristin Harber is new for me & her stories are similar to Maya Banks KGI, Cindy Gerard's BOi's etc. but definitely different…(I love her language in the book!! Totally original by the way…) Great descriptions with an absolute PERFECT flow!!
I loved everything about this! A second chance romance after thinking the love of his life is dead and all the drama that comes with it! It felt very bonkers plot in the best way and Cash was a goner for the only woman he ever loved (blind jealous rage included!) I was giggling, kicking, and screaming over these two!
rating: ★★★★★ released: 26 September 2013 genre: romantic suspense pov: third person omniscient MC: Cash + Nicola ♡ audio narrated by Jeffrey Kafer
I thought Colby from book one was my new book boyfriend but who can resist a man who wears a cowboy hat...meet Cash:
Her legs squeezed tighter around him, grinding against his throbbing erection. Fuck, yes, sweet girl. Rub me like that. Resolved for another round of smack and grab, he went for the hat again. She slapped with the other hand, and he pinned that delicate wrist. Both hands were restrained high above her head, leaving her immobile and defenseless. He needed her now. More than the moment he first saw her, the moments before in bed. He needed hot and hard this goddamn second...
The harder he kissed her soft skin, the more he nipped against her throat, the louder her response. Each moan made his dick throb. Each time she twisted against his hold, his throat constricted a little tighter. His breath came faster, and he was closer to losing his mind
I’m currently riding the high generated from inhaling the first two books of the Titan series (stand-alone). I loved book one, Winters Heat. When I started reading Garrison’s Creed, I wasn’t sure I was going to like it as much even though I am a sucker for a back from the dead story line. Garrison’s Creed certainly didn’t start off slow but it did start off a little slower than Winters Heat. But I had no need to worry. Garrison’s Creed fully drew me in and Cash Garrison, well he took me for a ride =)
Nicola Garrison is a fun female lead to read. As a CIA operative, she kicks major ass. Hand to hand combat, gun skills, spy technology…I wish I was her! And Cash…what a hunk of fun! I loved his personality, his wit, I loved that he was strong and confident but definitely had a vulnerable side when it came to Nicola. For readers that love a second chance love story, what is better than a once in a lifetime love coming back from the dead?
I loved you once. You think I can’t again?…
Kiss me like the years weren’t missing.
Totally swoon worthy! Now Cash and Nicole had some things to work out. But holy hell, when these two come together, it was hot and it stayed hot!
She turned him on in ways he couldn’t have dreamt of, and his imagination wasn’t boring. He lusted for her. Ached for this. His teeth grabbed skin, and his tongue soothed away the sting. She jerked towards him, pushing him for more. More might never be enough.
Phone sex? Oh yeah, phone sex…
“Are you in bed, Cash?”
“Yeah, and I’m naked, missing you.” His voice was an electric jolt. There was nothing hesitant, nothing held back. Everything about Cash was strong and direct. A live wire.
“Are you…?” She trailed off, wanting for the right words, wanting to be as bold as he was.
“Hard and in my hand,” he answered for her. The revelation jump-started her imagination.
Her heart was in her throat, pounding and punching for attention. “You’re stroking?”
“Yeah, I’m stroking. Thinking of how good you feel. Where’s that beautiful touch of yours?”
So yeah...HOT!
I was a little worried when I started this book that it wouldn’t live up to my expectations after reading the first book in the series but luckily that’s just not the case. I said it for Winters Heat and I’ll say it again, this is one of the top romantic suspense series to be released. The writing is very good, the steam factor is hot, the males are alpha, the females aren’t pushovers…I love this series! I can’t wait to read book three, Westin’s Chase which is Jared and “Sugars” story! I am so interested to see how these two come together with such “strong” personalities =)
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for a fair review.
This is one series I'm loving I fell in love with the author in "Winters Heat" and it's no surprise I loved this book just as much. Cash that sexy cowboy is just plain yummy, "stop your sweet a** one second, and turn around, Nicola." He's blunt when he's pi**ed actually he's blunt all the time just more so when he's pi**ed, "sorry, man. I was doing your sister on the side. Beat my a** later. I'm going to bed." Jared I CANNOT WAIT for his damn book! "Titan's having a cookout tomorrow night, which you're invited to. But I'm changing it to a retreat,. We've got sh** to work out. Be there. Bring a bag. You'll have a room. I'll text you details." Cash the man doesn't like being interrupted when he and his woman is getting it on, "Cash-the-sniper, not the man from the bathroom, lumbered out of her bed, grabbed gym shorts and stepped into them, cursing Jared with every passing step." His thoughts on his girl are entertaining, "I found this button down in the bathroom. I didn't even know you wore dress shirts." He'd wear them every single day if she'd walk into a room, giving out half-naked surprises like a Mardi Gras queen." Cash he appreciates the activities Nicola wants to do, "you're in charge of all normal activities from here on out." Cash stroked her hair, trailing his hand through it, then caressing her shoulder." I'm so excited to dive into Jared's story.
Having loved the first book in this series Winters Heat, I couldn't wait to read this. We met sniper Cash Garrison in the first book and I developed a soft spot for him as a secondary character. I like a witty man. But as the main character, well I think the appreciative noise I made sounded something like "Ooooph". He hugely surprised me; he's alpha alright, but it's just the right amount, as underneath is an über-sexy romantic gent with an air of cowboy, who made me sigh many happy sighs.
Our heroine Nicola was his true love. But she died. Only she didn't. And now she's back. I loved her; she's kick-ass, independent, feisty, determined and most importantly she is my namesake. Which meant that I actually was her. And that was very pleasurable, particularly in certain situations involving the calling out of names...
Once again it was all go from the very first page and whilst it wasn't quite as action packed as Winters Heat, it still had a good dose of gunfire and explosions and was a romantic journey quite different from the first book. Intimate, passionate, fun, serious and touching, and with fabulous banter between the boys as well as a couple of twists to the story I didn't see coming at all, it was another superb read.
I wanted to love this book. I really did. The concept was great -- woman presumed dead in a car crash and now secretly working for the CIA meets up with the only man she ever loved but left behind ten years ago. Together they must find and bring down a mole in the CIA...and deal with their past. *rubbing hands together* Brilliant! Well, it should have been...
Unfortunately, I found it rather uneven. Sometimes our heroes played it smart. Other times I wanted to smack them upside the head for their blatant stupidity. And just when you thought it was all over and wrapped up in a pretty bow -- BAM -- something really weird and unexpected happened. And not in a oooh-this-is-so-cool sort of way. It was more like a what-the-hell-did-I-just-read thing. It totally came out of left field and served absolutely no purpose other than to maybe lengthen the book and prove once again what badasses our heroes were.
Fortunately, I found the relationship between our hero and heroine to be pretty darn good. I loved the angst and anger and love and all those other conflicting and confusing emotions muddled together as they found their way back to each other. And the ending was sublime and sigh-worthy.
It'll be interesting to read some of Cristin Harber's other books and see how they compare to this one.
I had had hoped that this book was better than the first book, was looking forward to seeing what Cash would do when he learned about Nicola being alive. I did like that Cash was shocked, but even more shocked with the skills that Nicola picked up. That was the best thing, the drama that ensued got old fast. Both were jealous of the people in their lives in the 10 years that Nicola was dead, not sure why, Cash truly thought she was dead and Nicola made her choice, she needed to live with them. It didn't help that everyone at Titan threw them together all the time. And there was Sugar, who I didn't like as one of Cash's bedmates, but then when we learned her secret at the end, not sure I buy it. This book will be the last one for me, the series just isn't enough to keep me interested.
I absolutely LOVED this book! Between the outstanding chemistry and kick ass characters, Garrison's Creed quickly sucked me in and I devoured it as fast as possible. Like the previous in the series, Winter's Heat, this was filled with just he right amount of suspense, erotic love scenes, humor and to die for secondary characters that you'll love. The back and forth banter between Nicola and Cash was perfectly done, and I can't even tell you how much I enjoy the realistic dialogue and writing style of Ms. Harber. Ready to dive into Jared's story next...can't wait to see the big man get taken down!
This romantic suspense had an exciting beginning and ending but it had parts I didn't like such as the heroine feeling she had to prove her worth. The hero got angry too easily with extreme reactions. Undercover CIA agent Nicola is spotted by sniper Cash and her brother who thought she died ten years ago.
Fast paced, edge of your seat thriller. Garrison’s Creed was phenomenal. Cristin Harber hit this one out of the park. Cash and Nic’s story exploded with drama, wild sex, and nail biting suspense. This Titan series just might have my attention after this book.... I’m curious as to what’s ahead for the supporting characters and their stories. The ending to Sweet Girl crushed me, but this book pulled it all together with an unexpected twist.
I was a bit surprised - maybe a little disappointed - how easy it went. I mean, don't get me wrong, there's plenty of drama. I just thought there would be more hesitation or fight in the rekindling. And the last twist was a bit out of place - like it was thrown in there. Otherwise, surprisingly, I found myself enjoying this book quite a bit.
Oh my! Nicola and Cash were absolutely perfect! I loved that they got a second chance! I've been rooting for them since the beginning! So I was happy to see them work out their relationship and finally be together! They were definitely meant to be! 💛
Cash Garrison's world comes to a screeching stop when through the sight of a sniper rifle, he sees the girl he fell in love with in college, the girl he planned to marry, the girl who died before he could give her the ring. It's been ten years, but his heart remembers her clearly, and he doesn't know why she's on the arm of a wanted arms dealer, but he can't let her get away again. Not without answers. Not without another chance.
The Verdict: So this kind of book isn't my usual cup of tea, but after reading Sweet Girl, I had to find out what happened next.
Cash and Roman, best friends from college, have been through hell together, but they've made lives for themselves as soldiers/agents in a black ops team. They've never gotten over the death of Roman's little sister and Cash's true love Nicola, but they're getting by. So when Cash spots Nicola with a target, he mind is blown. Coming across her armed and injured a short while later has his head spinning and his heart breaking all over again.
Nicola agreed to witness protection after innocently stumbling into a huge organized crime mess. It was the only way to prevent the mobsters who knew her face and name from going after her and everyone she loved, and her heart's been broken ever since. But over the years she's put her smarts to work, finding her place in the CIA as an undercover operative. It's on one of those assignments that she comes face to face with her brother and her college boyfriend after all these years.
Cash's confusion and pain jumped right off the page, and while I knew they'd eventually work things out, I wasn't so sure how quickly he could reconcile the covert agent with the girl he fell in love with when life was so much simpler. His heart won out, of course, since even with all that anger and angst, he couldn't turn his back on a second chance with Nicola. I was honestly worried she had changed too much and wouldn't be as willing to strike things up again, but it seems she was still just as smitten as he was.
There was a whole double-agent bit and plenty of nail-biting tension, but after reading Sweet Girl, I was much more interested in getting some closure for one of my favorite couples. Cash was a harder version of the guy he was in college, still funny and wearing his heart on his sleeve while essentially having to apologize for his playboy ways. Nicola, however, was quite a bit different, no longer the innocent and naive coed, and while I could appreciate the woman she became, I did miss the girl I met in the previous book.
I suppose if I'd read these books in the opposite order, my reaction would be a bit different. I imagine I would have thoroughly enjoyed this one and then loved the look at the simpler relationship they had in college. But since I stumbled into this series rather obliviously, I found myself wishing for the love they had first, before all the guns and double agents and mysteries. Still, Garrison's Creed was a fun read, filled with action and some very hot rekindling of their old romance.
Before you get all close and personal with hardened CIA agent Nicola Garrison and Black Ops specialist Cash Garrison, read Sweet Girl, their backstory, taking place ten years earlier, then settle in for a sometimes volatile, sometimes passionate tale of lost love, lost innocence and fear of history repeating itself. Sniper expert, Cash and his team are on a mission, but what Cash sees through his scope brings him to his knees, was it a ghost haunting his past? Nicola died, he helped bury the love of his life, but this woman hanging on the arm of a vile black market weapons dealer can be none other than his Nicola, older, more beautiful, with an edge to her countenance.
After disappearing to protect her family, Nicola is alone in the world, and finds the life of a CIA undercover agent fits her perfectly, no attachments, no roots, just her job, facing danger on a daily basis, long months of infiltrating and seducing are about to come to an end as her mission is in its final moments and a black market arms dealer is about to go down. The clock ticks, and suddenly from nowhere, a sniper’s blast ruins months of hard work and she is now on the run, heading straight into a group of Black Ops mercenaries, Cash and her brother, included. How does she explain what happened when she is sworn to secrecy? How could they have ruined all of her work with one bullet? How does she survive the pain and hate in Cash’s eyes? Who can she turn to when there is a traitor in the CIA who has her marked for death? Their hearts scream to each other, but pride is a powerful enemy.
Cristin Harber is amazing in her ability to envelope her readers in her romantic mysteries. We are invited into the minds and hearts of the characters, hearing their internal battles as they think and fell one thing, only to say and do another. The mental dialogue added so much to creating living characters dealing with over the top emotional torment and doubt. From their tender and tentative love a decade before, to the current day shocks, these two are waging an internal battle that feels real. Populated with a large cast of varied characters who appear either briefly or in cameo appearances throughout, there is time to chuckle, to sigh, and to hope these characters will soon have their own story to tell.
Fast-paced, filled with intrigue and romance and other matters of the heart, Nicola and Cash’s story had me from page one.
Series: Titans - Book 2 Publication Date: December 27, 2013 Publisher: Mill Creek Press Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance/Intrigue Print Length: 281 pages Available from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble
Cash has seen a lot of stuff during his military career and now as a member of Titan Group. If you asked him he would have never even imagined on the night where he was sighting a target in his rifle’s scope that he would see the only woman he has ever loved. It can’t be Nic he stood by her family ten years ago at her funeral. But he would know her anywhere.
Yes I know that is one of the shortest synopsis I have ever written, but I want you to experience the plot and there is so much in the first few chapters that I found just delightful I don’t want to spoil the enjoyment for you. Yes is this a second chance romance, but it has circumstances and plot twists like no other I have ever read.
I liked Cash in Book 1 (Winters Heat), I think how he tried to help Coby and Mia find each other again was touching, even more so now that I have finished Cash’s book; now I just flat out love him. Many would have categorized him as a womanizer, but in reality Cash was just a man who didn’t think he could move past the loss of his one love. Cash loves deep and he loves hard; and Nic seems to be the perfect match for him. She is a strong quick thinking woman and a great character. It is evident she never stopped loving Cash; and she knows second chances are rare. They eventually rekindle their relationship and some steamy scenes are the result. Once you know why they were forced apart you will understand the beauty of their relationship. They each “had” something that made them feel closer to the other, both scenes where each revealed the “truths” of what they did to keep the other close are my two favorite scenes in the book, each brought a tear to my eye. (They are both highlighted on my Kindle and I have already reread them a few times)
We met most of the Titan Group in Winters Heat but we learn more about them in this book. Rocco is my favorite secondary character in this book; he was very interested in all the drama and it was funny to read the other characters acknowledge that fact. The plot had some twists that took me off guard, but nothing that had me questioning if Cash and Nic would have a HEA.
This was an extremely satisfying read. Honestly this will be a book I will reread probably more than once. Cash and Nic have a connection that I felt leap off the page. They are causing me to reevaluate my list of all-time favorite couples. I look forward to seeing them again in future Titan books (I am hoping they are very present in the promised Roman book!)
I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest review.
Seeing the woman you loved but thought dead for 10 years in your sniper scope as your getting ready to take out a target is a bit of a surprise for Cash Garrison and his best friend and her brother Roman Hart. But it’s a heck of a way to start a book.
Cash and Roman work for Titan Group which is a private security firm hired by para-military operations in any country, law enforcement in conflict zones, hostage negotiation and rescue operations, warzone assistance, and high value target projects. They were hired to take out an international terrorist and get so much more than they bargained for.
Nicola is a kick-butt CIA spy and Cash is defiantly an Alpha male which always makes for good reading. There was plenty of intrigue and suspense that kept you turning the pages.
Pace is pretty fast and is has a full cast of characters that also include the FBI, ATF and CIA who Nicola works for. Nicola, her brother Roman and Cash all grew up together. In college Cash and Nicola fell in love but kept it to themselves due to not knowing how Roman would react. Nicola winds up in Witness Protection due to outing the Mob on some dirty dealings she found which resulted in her “death” to the world. Here is one of the biggest issues I had with the book – For 10 years she let her family and Cash think she was dead while she went on to end up working for the CIA. When Cash and Roman find her at their mark’s location and eventually take her back to a Titan safehouse Cash and Roman’s response to her being alive was believable but no one rushed to tell her parents that she was alive. I mean these poor people had grieved for their daughter all these years and even when she finally goes and see’s them its all hunky dory – we forgive you and that’s that.
There were quite a few things brushed over like that throughout the book but all the characters both primary and secondary were interesting enough to me that I want to read the next books in the series.
It was amazing!! It's fast, adventurous and full of hot and fun scenes!!! It couldn't be any better!!
>>Nicola is fearless..I adored her!!I really enjoyed her 2 somewhat different sides..When she was alone with Cash, she was the sweet girl, who melts into her man..Of course, she gives him hell, when he deserves it..Just like an ordinary girlfriend or a woman in a complicated relationship..But,when she is out on the field, she tranforms into a fearless stealthy I-can-kill-you-with-a-look woman...She is incredible!
>>Cash changed, after Nic's supposed death..He focused on his training and on his job, while sleeping with any woman who wanted to sleep with him..After Nic arrives,he changes back to the man he was, when he was with Nicola 10years ago..The man who loved her and wanted her to be his forever everything..
There were a lot of priceless moments in this book...And most of them include some serious ass-kicking..Maybe a scene or 2 with Jackson, who seriously had a loose screw in head..Definitely when they saw each other for the first time after 10 years..Surely,the morning after their first night together...mmm...
So many wonderful moments...I have to admit that sometimes I felt like something was missing in the description of events..Like something was forgotten and omitted...But,that certainly didn't change the fact this book is
HOT.ADVENTUROUS.FUN.MYSTERIOUS.UNPREDICTABLE.AWESOME...Did I mention hot?
It's a must read,if you enjoy James Bond-ish novels with hot men and women kicking ass..
Simply put....I LOVED Garrison's Creed. I found the story to be more about romance than action and suspense. But the book isn't really short on the surprises or suspense.
Ten years ago, Cash Garrison buried his girlfriend, Nicola, who was the love of his life. During an ops mission, he sees a ghost from his past in his crosshairs.
Nicola has been in love with Cash since she was a child. In college, she finally got up the nerve to make a move. Too bad an internship cost her the love of her life and her family. Now that the undercover operation she has spent months on has just gone up in flames and her cover has been blown, Nicola is running for her life. She doesn’t expect to run into Cash and the men from The Titan Group.
With everything crashing in around her, Nicola is going to have to figure out who she can and can not trust. She’s going to have to prove to her brother and Cash that she is a good agent and rely on them to have her back, when a new assignment comes up.
Cristin Harber has managed to throw surprise after surprise into this book. Just when you think everything is fine and dandy, be prepared to find yourself on the edge of your seat. On the romance side, Cristin has given the reader a couple you can immediately fall in love with. Nicola will do anything to protect her family and those she loves. Cash is all alpha, but is one of the sweetest heroes I’ve come across in awhile.
