Allie Whitewater was used to living between two worlds. She embraced both the Native American heritage of her father and the white heritage of her mother. She was happy with both and didn’t have the identity crisis many of her friends had growing up. Growing up on on a large working ranch in Montana, she loved every aspect of the life that her twin had left behind. She had no desire to live town, or worse, a large city. She plans on spending the rest of her life on the ranch her father started, running it and making it even better than ever. All of that changes when she decides to take a little vacation to help out her best friend and sister of the heart, Indiana, return to her new home.
Jacob Tucker enjoys building up the ranch he and his twin brother, Jonathan, had settled. Sure, there were dangers - rustlers, the harsh environment, Indians - but he wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. He is happy with life in the Montana territory. He never thinks there could be something or someone out there that could make him change his mind. At least, not until he travels with his brother to rescue his brother’s new bride, Indiana, when she is kidnapped. His idea of life and the world changes when he leaves his ranch in 1867 to travel to 2013. The world has changed a lot and so have the women – namely one called Allie Whitewater. She has the mouth of a cowpuncher, the body of an angel, and the temper of the Devil himself. Now all he has to do is get her back to his time and hold her so tight she won’t miss her fancy metal wagons and flying birds.
Jacob thinks his plan is fool-proof. He just needs to kidnap Allie long enough to make her never want to leave him to return to her world. But things change as tension between the red-skins and the white settlers and the army escalate. History won’t stand still for two souls separated by time. How can he hope to keep Allie safe when the whites see her as a red-skin savage and the Indians don’t know what to think of her?
When the two cultures clash, it is up to Allie to show she is capable of walking in both worlds. She will prove to the whites that she is a force to be reckoned with and she will prove to her ancestors that she is a Spirit Warrior who will fight to the death to protect her hasáŋni, her mate.
Can the past handle a modern woman’s view that the two cultures are really not that different when it comes to love and family or will it destroy the very thing that makes her the perfect partner for a man of the past – her warrior spirit?

Another great read from S.E. Smith. I love the idea of time travel, add in a hot alpha cowboy and you can't go wrong! Just as good as the the first one. I really hope this series continues as the author left it at the end with a tidbit of who the next couple will be.
Those cowboys from the 1800's know what they want and how to get it. And Lord help anyone who tries to take what is theirs. Jacob knew he wanted Allie the minute he saw her. Even if she was inside an iron monster! But convincing Allie was going to be a challenge, particularly since she had a broken heart. But first he has to help his brother Jonathan get back Jonathan's kidnapped wife. The author gave us another thrilling adventure split between the present and the past. Great book, I loved it.
Was really looking forward to this read as I loved Indiana Wild. It was good but not as good as I was expecting. The first half was pretty much a repeat of the first book and I would have liked to get to know Jacob more than I did. Great ending though and I can't wait for Makodia' gift.
Where to begin. I always suspend belief when reading romance time travel, space and shifter stories so physically possible is not a consideration for me.
This was a solid 4 or possibly 5 star read for me until the tie up and trick into marriage portion of the story. A little while later in the story, the brother does something similar and it is frowned upon.
The h throwing hissy fits also got a bit old but a portion of it was necessary for the storyline.
I have always liked time travel books. This one was exceptional. Lots of romance. I especially liked the way the author expressed the awe and wonder of the ones from the past when confronted with modern technology
Strong, feisty, and determined. . . Overall 4 out of 5 stars Performance 4 out of 5 stars Story 4 out of 5 stars
SE Smith always take me on an adventure with her writing, plots, and the characters. I have stepped in to another addition to the Spirit Pass series. I found that Allie and Jacob had a connection. I found Allie to be sassy, spirited, and strong. She dealt with a lot in her young life and it was getting to that point where she could not take any more. Jacob Tucker came in to her life and made her feel again and she was not sure how to process this. Watching as the two find a way to connect and move deeper was enjoyable. Samantha Cook added her brand of special-ness to the characters and provide a very enjoyable listen. The audio was smooth and clear.
AUDIBLE 2024 Such a pleasure to listen to these in audible. Very well written and well done by the author with going to and fro in time. Very well described. I just want to know if Captain Marshall was killed by the deserters. Cannot wait to read and listen to the next book. BOOK REVIEW Having a half Lakota woman travel back in time is very interesting. Love this authors books. I was tidying up my iPad and decided to reread this series. I had forgotten how good it was and read it all in one sitting. Well written, fun and interesting time travel story with likable main characters and other characters. It is really hard when we are spending time with the Lakota Indians and know their destiny is not going to be good. Allie is half Lakota and therefore finds herself straddling the line of both worlds in this era even more than she does in modern times. Great story but the first half is really about Jacob trying to get Allie to spend time with him after he kidnaps her. The second half really develops into a pleasing read. So interesting to think how different things were only 150 years ago and also sad to know what will be happening. Read this years ago and reviewed it then but reviews are missing.
This was another great book by this author. Allie was spirited, fierce and loyal. Just a lot scared to love again because she was hurt before. Nope, the guys wasn't an a*s. He was good if not a little insecure in their relationship. What happened was that he got in an accident and their future was gone as fast as it started. So Allie afraid of how beloved one can be taken so fast from you, tries to put a space between her and Jacob. Jacob from the first when saw Allie knew she will be going with him back home. So Jacob are not having any of her fights against them being together. He do anything to claim her as his. Like trick and set her up to marry her. And that part was funny but on the same time made me a little mad. But you have to acknowledge that Jacobs extreme methods are impressive and a touch flattening. Because not a lot of men go that way. There are some action, shooting, a couple kidnappings (some fun some not so much), nose breaking & a lot of other goods. So don't waste a time and get this book to have some great time. PS The ending not making you particularly happy because is just makes you want to get your hands on the next book in this series. So be warned ;)
Time travel. I liked this story a little better than the first book in the series. Jacob went through Spirit Pass with his twin brother to rescue his sister in law, Indiana (Indy). When he meets Indy's best friend, Allie, he knows that she belongs to him. Allie's parents met through Spirit Pass. Allie is half Lakota. Will Allie choose to stay in Jacob's time? She knows what will happen to her people and won't be able to change things. I look forward to Maikoda's Gift. Maikoda is a Lakota that decides that Aleah, Allie's fraternal twin, belongs to him. Tensions were high between whites and native Americans and I'm very interested in seeing what S. E. Smith will do with the next book in this series.
The fist part of the story where Jacob and Johnatan are trying to save Indy is just too similar to the first books and a bit boring I have to admit. Pathe second part was ok but not that fun or that surprising, it felt a bit forced, like it happened because something had to, not because it was part of the story. I was expecting more.
I loved Smith's first book "Indiana Wild" and could not wait for the sequel. I was a little disappointed that half of "Spirit Warrior" recapped "Indiana Wild" through the perspective of Allie. Otherwise, it was another great book. I hope we don't have to wait more than a year for the third book of this series.
I loved the new parts of the story however I was disappointed to discover that the first eleven chapters were just a repeat of book one. So if you have already read the first book you could just skip to chapter eleven in book two and pick up the new story from that point. The continued story is very good and very well written. You won't be disappointed.
Wow just Wow I loved reading this one very much. Well written this one had me laughing one minute and crying the next. If you enjoy reading historical romance with time travel then you will love this series.
was a great read book 1 still my favorite but i got pulled in with this story and the characters i look forward to more in this series and the other series this author writes
I really like S E Smiths books and this one is no different always a little of everything and always a little different from other books another great read.
Where are Maikoda's Gift, and the other promised books continuing series? I'm going to be 80 on 8/4/20 and would like to read them before I go out of time.
