A Guy, a Girl and the Deviled Egg they both want...

Straight-laced newbie engineer Lucas Young wasn't looking for love when he attended his friend, Rainy Dey's wedding reception. But what he did want was one of the delicious looking deviled eggs that were prominently displayed on the hors d'oeuvres table. Unfortunately, the delectable treat was practically stolen out of his hand by...

Ella Warner, groomsman Evan Warner's "crazy" younger sister and the black sheep of their well-to-do family. Ella does everything on her own terms, including snatching a yummy deviled egg from Lucas's rather hungry clutches.

But it's going to take a lot more than the perfect deviled egg to keep this completely mismatched couple from going completely off the rails as they negotiate an increasingly complicated relationship.

Opposites may attract but can they actually find true love with each other?

This new adult romance contains language and content indented for adult readers (18+). Final Play can be read as a standalone novel or as books three of the Matchplay series.

Madison employs some shockingly perfect descriptions throughout this novel. They may be a little out of the ordinary, but they fit perfectly with the scene and the character POV. They also set the reader up to be able to completely immerse themselves within the storyline and the lives of these characters. Everything and everyone is so real in this novel that you can’t help but smile, or cry, right alongside the characters. Not only that, but this entire novel is told from the male POV, which is always a unique ride in a romance novel, especially when it’s as tactfully done as this one is.

I really appreciate how Madison steps outside the box with the characters on this one. Not only does she bring mental illness to the forefront in a very big way, she shows how, with time and support it can at times be managed. Because of this these characters have to deal with issues that are very unique in the romance genre, but that are more frequent in everyday life than most would like to admit. Not only that, but, as is the usual for Madison’s work, these characters are very well developed as individuals, as family members, and as a couple. The supporting cast is also quite well developed. Some we know primarily from previous novels in the series, others we get to know much better in this instalment, and yet others are completely new and captivating in their own right.

As a whole, this was a brilliant addition to the Matchplay series where in Madison steps outside the box in a series that has already set itself aside as being outside the norm for the genre. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Please note that I received this novel free of charge from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I was given an ARC of this book in place of an honest review.

Lucas is a guy that I have loved since the first book and I was so hoping he would find that special woman to spend his life with. He is a man that is used to having control and everything has to be planned out. That changes when he meets a woman at Aaron and Rainy's wedding. He is surprised when he finds out that she is the sister of a boy that he didn't like in college. He really doesn't like it when he has to go to Evan to see how to find his sister.

Ella Warner is the black sheep of her family. Just because she doesn't fit in with what her parents want her to be. Being rich can have it's downfalls. Ella has bi-polar and you never know what you will get with her. Men use her for sex and leave as soon as they get what they want. When Lucas starts treating her like the woman that he loves she doesn't know how to take it.

I understand how Ella feels and the way she does things. Since my daughter has bi-polar it sort of hits home for me. I would hate for men to treat my daughter the way she is treated. I got to see how Evan treats his sister and it made me mad at him. Her parents made me even angrier. I knew that Lucas would need that special woman and he found it with Ella. If only he can figure out what she is hiding.

I hate to see this series come to an end but I love that I got to know the characters more. I have to say out of all three that the first one is my favorite and this one would be my second one. It was very surprising how all the couples came together and some of them I really wanted to hate but in the end they kind of grew on me. So I will be a little sad knowing that I have reached the end of the journey. I enjoyed each book and each one will leave a different meaning to me.

What happens when a good boy falls in love with a not-so-good girl?

It all started with the Deviled Egg they both want on Rainy and Aaron’s wedding. She was everything he didn’t expect himself to be intrigued with. She was a stranger, but she saw through him. She saw the feelings that he kept hidden from everyone most especially the bride. Yikes. Creepy.

I like LUCAS YOUNG. He’s amazing. It’s refreshing to know that contrary to the usual men in novels I had recently been reading – he’s totally different. Because 1) he’s not drop dead gorgeous 2) he ain’t charming 3) he’s just some average Joe 4) he’s a geek 5) he’s boring 6) he doesn’t date that much AND 7) he doesn’t sleep around often. Yay. He’s been with girls of course, but he can still count them on his fingers. He’s much focused on his work rather than forming relationships. THIS GUY IS UNBELIEVABLY GOOD. AN ANGEL. Well, he’s more of a friend material than a boyfriend, and if he were my friend – I would want nothing but the best for him. Because GOOD GUYS deserves nothing more but the BEST in life and a NICE girl who would love and treasure him for real.

Ella Warner is not your ordinary, average, nice girl. She was everything wrong for him – she got a lot of baggage with her, sleeps around and is the black sheep of the family. And not to mention, she’s CRAZY. Okay, not really crazy-CRAZY, just bipolar. But she got his attention, and he’s willing to take the risk just to be with her. No matter how hard other people try to tell him she’s bad news, HE WANTS HER, and he will be with her. I felt sad for Ella, her family made it completely sure that she knew she was crazy and there's no possibility of any guy will get serious with her.

Their relationship is a increasingly getting complicated, with Ella not being used to men who really wants to be with her, and Lucas not being used to relationships at all. Will their relationship survive the odds and insecurities and trust issues?

They are completely mismatched, the opposite of each other - and they're not even right for one another - BUT they were what each other needed. They were completely right for each other. How the author made sure of that, I had no idea!! Dakota Madison made a sweet, not-your-ordinary-romantic novel that will make you swoon.

Review:

In general, the Matchplay series are three wonderful books full of romance and all deserve to be read, but I would say that this was a different story.
What I mean is that I really like Lucas, he's a nice boy, was too nice, and I was expecting this third story to be about another bad boy like Aaron and Evan. However, you can't not love him. He's the definition of a good, nice boy. The type of boy is hard to find. And Evan's sister, Ella, is the lucky woman that has him, entirely from the first moment, in Rainy's weeding.
Again, without missing the old characters from the other two books, Dakota Madison creates yet another romantic and unforgettable story from a boy's point of view, Lucas, and makes you believe that you are actually in that boy's mind.
What makes this story different from the other two books is Ella's mental illness. This particular illness is now well-known, since it has appeared in some TV shows like 90210. But Madison has the ability to show us how this is not an issue, that even though everyone tries to warn Lucas about this, with time and love this can be managed, and that it's nothing to be ashamed of or a thing to avoid a relationship with that person.
With characters that grow not only physically, but mentally with time, and that are more mature now, we get to read about this wonderful story.
Definitely the Matchplay series are three books I highly recommend to all of you, Book Addicts!

This just wasn't as good at the last book, to be honest. It felt kind of forced, and I felt it didn't really address the issue of the mental illness that Ella had. It was sweet, that Lucas wanted to take care of her, and that he didn't want to share her with anyone. I think everyone's been there at some point. My issue is that Ella had a mental illness - bipolar disease - that just wasn't really addressed. I know people with this illness and it's a difficult thing to deal with. I think that so much more could have been shown and that would have made this better. I was disappointed to not see the characters from the first two books that much, although I suppose from the beginning it didn't even seem like they were interested in Lucas and Ella.

I received a copy of this book in reutrn for an honest review.

Ella is by far the funnest character I have read in a long while. Lucas is the ever faithful friend and it so good to see him with his happy ending. It was a great wrap up to the whole series with Rainy, Aaron, and everyone else.
