I am not the greatest at writing reviews because I am always afraid of saying something that will spoil it for someone else. But here it goes. S. Moose has written a beautiful story of love and loss and rekindling that love again. My heart broke as I was reading what Sophia endures during her relationship with Kyle. There were many times however that I wanted to reach through my kindle and smack her. Kyle is a jerk, ugh the things I would do if I got my hands on that boy let me tell you! Then there is Adam the picture of perfection! The love and perseverance he has touched my heart. For those who need to know this is not a cliffhanger.

RATING CLARIFICATION : 4.5 STARS
This book was AMAZING. I truly enjoyed this whole book from beginning to end. When I read the synopsis I was totally sucked in. Something just stuck with me and I couldn't get it out of my mind so I knew I had to read this book and I am so glad I did. This was a wonderful second chance love story but it was also so much more then that. The author actually created a love story that also touched on a very tough subject and added some suspense to go with it. I felt the author gave a very real feel to the touchy subject of abuse. This book had my emotions all over the place....I smiled, swooned, laughed, cried and screamed. Now in a normal situation that would be an automatic 5 star rating for me, but the only reason I couldn't give it a full 5 stars was because I really couldn't accept some of the stupid decisions made by Sophia. Some of the things she did really didn't seem believable to me.
Now with that said I also still loved Sophia as a character. She was a strong woman in her own right, but you could also tell that she lacked a mother figure in her life. She lost her mother at a younger age and I think had she had the mother figure around she wouldn't have made some of those mistakes, when it came to Kyle. I was glad to see her grow as a person as the story went on. I loved her and Adam's relationship. I was so glad to see things come together for them. I will say that Adam truly had the patience of a saint when it came to Sophia....she really put him through some tough times. Adam was fabulous. I could totally feel his love for Sophia from the beginning. He will definitely make my bbf list.
The secondary characters were also amazing in this story with the exception of Kyle. Erin (Sophia's BFF) was such a great best friend. She was Sophia's rock and truly stuck by her in thick and thin. I loved how she supported Sophia even if she didn't agree with her. I also loved that she wasn't afraid to call Sophia out when she did something stupid. I can't wait to read hers and Connor's story next. They make a sweet couple. Connor was also a great bff to both Adam and Sophia. His support was also unwavering. I could totally feel his love for Sophia and Adam and he was willing to do anything for them. I refuse to spend any time talking about Kyle in this review, because all I can say about him was I didn't like him at all. He was the absolute douche. I understand why he was in this story but that doesn't me I have to like him. I don't know of one person who would end up liking him by the end of this book.
I think my only negative when it comes to the story/book would be that there was a little piece of drama that was added towards the end of the book that I didn't really think needed to be in there. Adam and Sophia had been through so much already that I don't think Olivia's character needed to be in there. Plus it kind of seemed more like an after thought because it wasn't really developed. It was sort of glossed over and was over pretty quick. I did on the other hand really like the Epilogue.....I felt it finished the story really nicely. I am hoping that we will still see Sophia and Adam in Connor and Erin's book. Since they are all such close friends.
Would I recommend this book? Yes I would. I thought it was a great love story with some nail biting suspense. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, just waiting to see what will happen next. This is a book that I will for sure read again in the future.
Favorite Lines :
"I loved you yesterday. I love you still. I always have. I always will."....Sophia ( a gift to Adam )
It takes a strong person to overcome darkness who is able to see past it and reach for the light. The light can be anyone or anything.....prologue
" Sophia, never forget the ones who touched your life and who you keep in your heart."....Sophia's dad
"Baby, I want it too, but I want to make it special because you're special to me, You aren't some random hook up. You're my forever."....Adam
I love that the story has depth and it discusses some major issues with physical abuse in relationships and the situations that arose in the book happens in real life and is often brushed under the rug. This book is soo not what I thought it would be but I loved every page of it.
This book starts out with Sophia and Kyle in a relationship while her heart still yearns for her best friend Adam (No this is not a love triange). Poor Sophia goes through some heartache and loses all connection with Adam for a few years until one day in college he pops back in into her life. Sophia andd Kyle's relationship is not healthy and is very rocky. Everyone around her can see that he is not right for her. I have seen it happen to many times where men like Kyle never change and they have the same philosphy that "if he cant have her no one will". Its kind of scary. That part alone kept my interest and I wanted to keep reading to see if he was going to reap what he sowed. Once Sophia broke up with Kyle....... we meet good ole Adam and boy does he save the day many times. He loves Sophia with all his heart and I love how he loves her. The only reason I am not rating it 5 stars is because that darn Sophia worked my nerves. I liked her at first and then she started to get on my nerves towards the middle of the book. She stayed with Kyle for so long and for the wrong reasons but yet she was so quick to leave Adam for the stupidist (is that even a word? LOL!) things. At times I didnt know why Adam put up with Erin. Because she was broken, she kinda put him through the ringer for no reason. Her actions and reasons for running from Adam werent justifiable to me. But hey, thats love for you. LOL!
Now I loved Erin!!!! She could be my homegirl any day!!! She is what I would call a "Ride or Die" friend. I loved that Erin spoke her mind and wasnt afraid to tell Sophia how she really felt. I loved it. That is a true friend!! I also enjoyed seeing Erin and Adam's best friend Conner's friendship blossom into a relationship. They were a really cute couple and I would love to read more about them.
The author did a really good job addressing the sensitive subject of phyiscal abuse and I am truly a fan of her work. Oh, and that epilogue was so darn cute!! Awesome, Awesome Book!!
Sophia, Adam and Conner are all best friends until Sophia's mum dies. She pushes Adam away and he leaves her.
4 years later Sophia is in a relationship with Kyle and is "happy" then Adam walks back into her life. She tries to end things with Kyle but he doesn't take it to well. He starts stalking her and even beats her up, Sophia and Adam's relationship suffers from this as they try to make a go of things. They have always loved each other.
This was a really emotional read that had me crying a few times, I really liked it and enjoyed reading it. I felt really sorry for Sophia trying to deal with abuse and being really scared of Kyle.
It kept me on tender hooks wondering when Kyle would strike again because I knew he would, he just couldn't accept things were over. I loved Adam he is so protective and tries so hard to keep Sophia safe. Conner is also another great character that I really liked.
I could feel the chemistry between Sophia and Adam and the sex is really hot.
Domestic abuse is such a common thing and I really think the author did a fantastic job getting this story told.
I am looking forward to reading more from this series.
Thank you to S. Moose for giving me a copy of Reaching Out For You in exchange for an honest review.
I am giving it 4 stars for Amazon and 4 stars for Goodreads.
I had the amazing privileged of reading this book before it's release as an ARC/BETA for the author. I gave my utmost and honest opinion.
I loved this book!
I wanted to cry for Sophia on what she had to go through with her relationship with Kyle. I also wanted to smack the strength in her several times since that's just me, a strong willed person. Thankfully, Sophia finally came to do that just took a little pushing and shoving to get her away from hell.
I loved the bond that Sophia and Adam have, it's sweet and it's such a powerful friendship that finally gets rekindled in enough time to prove their love to one another. There were times i wanted to smack them all upside the head but in turn their problems worked themselves out and made my nerves ease up. I loved how they were together and i loved how Adam protected Sophia from her past. At times it was a little overbearing but much needed for the physco that lived in her life.
The author really puts you into perspective of what the character is going through in her life. You can tell she's depressed but trying her hardest to be happy with what life throws at her. It's suspenseful and dramatic and it's an all around a great love story. I definitely would recommend this to any romance readers and i cant wait for the second book to be released!
4 Stars- This easy read is filled with emotion. Set up with reality, it brought a mist to my eyes. Sophia and Adam were best friends. A tragedy tore them apart. Several years later they reconnect and attempt being friends again. Sophia is a sweet yet insecure girl finding her way. Suffering from depression, she sees a therapist to try to sort out her life. She has an innocent romance with Kyle, unsure she is ready to go all the way. Under pressure, she makes a choice that is daring and could put her in danger. Would Adam be able to save her or will he leave her again?
Early on I became very emotionally attached to Sophia. I seemed to identify with her and things she had been through. As the story progresses, Sophia grows into her adult self. There is a nice mix of terror, love, passion, emotion and romance. S. Moose writes in a way that I could connect pretty quickly. Yes, I have to admit that I shed a couple of tears. I felt Sophia as if I was reading about me.
By the time the book was over, I was pleasantly surprised and I can say I enjoyed the book. I recommend this book to all the girls who love a chick-lit book with something to make them think and even cry. This easy read can be read pretty quickly. Perfectly set up for a day at the beach. Get lost in someone else’s romance, time and time again.
I was delighted to receive a copy of Reaching Out For You from S. Moose as a gift. Reaching Out for you is a novel about a young woman with personal demons and serious life issues and her journey as she learns to place herself first and overcome these issues to find her happily ever after. It is a wordy novel, but the storyline grabs you and the characters are very well developed, so you can overlook the wordiness. It is very obvious through the depth of the writing that the "demons" in the book are personal to the author, which really grabs you and involves you in the story. Adam and Connor are guys any woman would be lucky to have in their life. Kyle is the guy that everyone prays you never find in your life, but unfortunately all to often ends up there. And Sophia is the girl that we all have inside of us, though in the end she becomes a strong woman. I rounded up to give Reaching Out For You 4 stars, because even with the repetition, wordiness, and typos/grammatical errors, that could easily be caught by a good editor, the story and characters are great. With some edits, this could easily be a 5 star read! I DO recommend the book, though I think it would do a lot better with edits.
This book was just ok to me. Losing someone is a hard thing to accept. With that you have the 5 stages of grief. It seems as if Sophia never could get over any of them; denial, bargaining, anger, denial and isolation, and acceptance. Everyone has there way of couping.
Also Sophia was stubborn and always played the victim. It was maddening. I wanted to shake her and tell her to grow up and look around her.
The book also deals with physical abuse. Something that should not be taken likely. Victims always blame themselves for what took place.
Adam was a sweety pie from the beginning. He was always there was Sophia even though i thought he should have left her alone. The downfall to that is I couldn't connect with him. There was no description of him to help visualize what I was looking at. It seems that he just appeared and the story went on.
I wanted more of something. I wanted more character connection. It felt I was just reading words on a page with no depth. The book had substance and potential. Just didn't do it for me. I guess I'm a minority here. I just couldn't get into it.
Wow! This book was amazingly sweet yet heart wrenching at the same time. I found myself on a roller coaster of emotions, at times I was completely irritated with Sophia and her indecisions about what she should do. I just wanted to shake her, slap her or something sometimes, while other times I was scared for her and what she had to deal with, with Kyle. Then there was times I was so happy and excited for Adam and Sophia.
I loved all the characters Adam with his sweet patience and absolute love for Sophia, Erin for being the kind of BFF that every girl needs and Conner for just being there for Adam and Sophia when they needed it. Now despite Sophia being so irritating sometimes I actually really loved her and I could relate to her and understand her side of things on some issues. This book is an absolute must read, it is captivating and will have you on the edge of your seat nervously waiting to see what will happen next. S. Moose did an amazing job bringing this story and these characters to life and I can't wait to read more from her.
I believe the author handled the difficult topics in this book with compassion and respect. While I did not personally always agree with the choices Sophia made I also realize it is easy to play arm chair quarterback when watching a character or even a person in real life make what you believe to be a mistake.
This humanized her for me. I really enjoyed her relationship with Adam and how they were able together to find their way. I was impressed that this is the author's first novel. I look forward to reading her future releases.
The character Sophia had so much happen in her life.. tragedy .. heartache...losing her best friend...and a boyfriend. Lot for anyone to take on. This story is about being able to move on and a rocky road goes flat at some point. She gets into a relationship that is so disenheartening it makes you want to scream. Its a tough life.. definitely a book to read if you think your life is bad.. you may want to rethink it.
I have had Reaching Out For You and Holding Onto You by S. Moose on my to-be-read list for quite some time so with the release of Next to Forever I was excited to finally get started on the series. Unfortunately Reaching Out For You fell a little flat for me. What I found was that while it certainly had tons of potential there was just something that kept me from truly connecting with both the characters and their story.
I am, without a doubt, an emotional reader and there is nothing I enjoy more than to really feel and experience the story along with the characters but that was missing in this book leaving a giant void of feeling that was hard to get around. There was plenty of depth plot wise with a few twists and turns that were enjoyable but there were also countless times when we were told more than shown what Sophia was feeling creating a lack of emotional depth and a feeling of things being very one note and dull.
Adam I liked as a character although I feel like I should have, and possibly could have, loved him if there was more of a connection. Connor and Erin were great. They were both wonderful sources of strength and support while also providing a fun, light atmosphere when they are around.
Sophia was hard to wrap my head around. There were many times were she seemed like two different people. The past Sophia seemed to be fun loving, bold and self-assured whereas the Sophia in the story was extremely meek and scared always blaming herself for everything that happens in her life and really just hoping for the best instead of doing what she can to make something good happen for herself. I understand how some of that could definitely be a product of her relationship with Kyle but then even further down the road with Adam she is very insecure and unsure of herself most of the time but then there are a few rare occurrences when she becomes assertive and confident but not in a learning and growing way more in a back and forth, not really being true to the character way. Not only this, but her actions leave a little to be desired. I can’t quite comprehend why it is so hard for her to turn her back on Kyle yet any time something happens with Adam she seems willing to walk away at the drop of a hat.
The characters also seemed extremely immature for their age and stage of life. We are talking about 21 year old college seniors and even working professionals and for the majority of the book it seemed more like the characters were 17 year old high school seniors. Sophia also keeps bringing up an incident where she saved Adam. First of all this seems very childish for her to hold this over his head repeatedly and secondly this incident is never delved into and the significance is lost when it is never brought to light.
All in all, I enjoyed the storyline. I enjoyed the turbulence that Kyle embodied in the story and I definitely thought there was great potential to the story. In the end though, I was left with an overall feeling of detachment where not even the highest highs or the lowest lows could reach me.
When tragedy struck Sophia’s life, she didn’t only lose her mother but she lost her best friends as well. She and Adam had become best of friends since they were young, and almost fell in love. But when Sophia needed him the most, he was not there.
After four years, Sophia has a new life. She was still best friends with Erin, she has a sweet and good looking boyfriend named Kyle, and was trying to get on with her life. Her past was still haunting her, but with the help of a therapist, she manages well. Adam came into the picture once again, enrolling himself in the same university Sophia is. And just like in the past – the chemistry, the butterflies in her stomach and the instant connection was still there. But she’s with Kyle right now – and she has a fear that Adam would leave her again when she needed him most.
Sophia is a smart girl – but when it comes to love and relationship, she could flunk. Kyle was an epitome of a perfect boyfriend and then he changed when she could not give him what he wants. He became someone else, and no matter how painful their relationship might be for Sophia, she manages to be with him still. How can she possibly stay in a relationship that no longer makes her feel safe and happy? And when she finally got out of the situation - I could not understand why she still wanted to see him or why she insist on doing things that aren't safe! Okay, granting that she has a good heart, but it was not safe. And she should think about the efforts people put through to protect her.
Adam - he was an amazing guy (except for the fact that he left her when he was needed most), but perhaps age made him mature. He loves Sophia a lot and is willing to do anything for her - including keeping her safe from anything or anyone that will bring her harm. He's willing to wait for her to be ready.
Reaching Out For You touches a sensitive topic that most of us failed to address. Perhaps, we don't like to feel involve or we grew tired of reminding our friends who are experiencing these types of situation - but these people needed our help, not only to survive their ordeal but to finally stop the denial and get out of the situation. S. Moose had made a book, not only to entertain readers with a nice love story, but as well as an eye-opener, threading carefully to some topics that can be sensitive to a lot of us.
*ARC Copy was given in exchange for an honest review.
Sophia, Adam and Connor grew up together, after some events in Connor's life he moves in with Adam's family and becomes Adam's brother. Together the three of them are inseparable best friends. Then Sophia and Adam fall in love with each other as teenagers, until a fateful day that it all fell apart. Four years later, Sophia has had zero contact with either of them, they went off to college somewhere else and she enrolled closer to home. When Adam and Connor surprisingly transfer to her college and she comes face to face with them, everything changes and all of the feelings from the past come slamming to the surface.
But there's a catch in the form of Sophia's insane abusive boyfriend Kyle. As Kyle becomes more violent towards her, causing her to end the relationship, he becomes erratically obsessed with her and won't let her go. When Adam and Sophia re-connect, Kyle doesn't take it well - at all. As Kyle's stalkerishly violent tendencies ramp up and Adam and Sophia's love story heats up, everything gets complicated, angst filled and romantic.
Okay, so this was a somewhat frustrating and confusing reading experience for me. On the one hand, I didn't really like the main character, Sophia, her decisions frustrated me over and over. So many times while reading I wanted to reach into my iPad and smack some sense into her. The other part of my frustration is that some of the storyline felt rushed and there were threads that weren't fleshed out enough, there are brief mentions of Sophia saving Adam at some point but its never really explained.
But even with my frustration, I still couldn't stop reading. I really honestly wasn't sure how this book was going to end. I was on edge, I was frustrated, there were moments of profanity laced yelling being hurled at my iPad screen. It was great, now I need to finish the series and I can't wait to read Adam's side of the story, I really liked him - like a lot. He's so sweet and wonderful. Then with book three I get to see what happens for Conner and Sophia's best friend, Erin!! Bring it on!!

Such a good concept, just fell short in execution.
Reaching Out For You is told in first person by Sophia. The book starts four years after the death of her mother. Right after her mother died she destroyed all of her relationships, including those with her best friends Connor and Adam. Sophia had been in love with Adam for as long as she can remember, but has never let him know. She is a senior at a Boston college when Adam reenters her life by walking into one of her classes. She, however, is in an abusive relationship and is afraid to restart her friendship with Adam for that reason, among others.
Shortly after the book begins she breaks things of with her boyfriend, which proved easier said than done. After many pep talks with herself, her BFF, and her therapist she decides to try and rebuild her relationships with both Adam and Connor. This leads to a whole other crop of issues for her to deal with, and attempt to overcome. Just when everything seems to be working out a secret comes out that threatens to destroy everything Sophia wants.
I hate giving bad reviews, I know that authors put their hearts and souls on the lines when they release a novel. I really think that this story line had a lot of potential. But I had such a hard time connecting with any of it. Sophia was so wishy-washy about everything. I understand being afraid of getting hurt, but there were parts where she would think one thing and then the next second do a complete 180 with no explanation as to why. She's was also so unbelievably selfish I couldn't stand her! And Adam, every do I say? He just let Sophia stomp all over him with little more than a few words of apology. When he did stand up to her she took off, again. Sophia felt more like a whiny thirteen year-old girl to me than a twenty-one year-old woman.
There are some redeeming areas though. I loved Erin, she seemed like a bad-ass. I also really liked Connor, and would have liked to have seen more of him. I truly believe that with some rewrites to Sophia and Adam, and if the conflicts weren't so quickly resolved, this could easily be a four star read. But as it reads now I can only give it two stars.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was great, and it brought forth a lot of emotions from as a reader. In my opinion those are the best books! The characters were solid, and the story flowed very well and I found it easy to read. The author's writing style was very easy to follow. The only time I found it to be confusing were different times in the book the text didn't always have quotation marks so I had trouble determining if Sophia was having an inner monologue or if she was talking to another character. Eventually, I was able to figure it out through context. I don't fault the author for this, I think this is something that should have been caught during editing. It doesn't take away from the story at all, so it has no bearing on my feelings toward the book or my rating.
Sophia is a great character, she can be dumb as a box of rocks sometimes, but I completely understand why. Often times women in her situation tend to feel like things are their fault; when they aren't. There were times during this book that I wanted to slap her back to reality, and I found myself cursing inwardly at her.
Kyle just deserved to be put down in my honest opinion. The author did a FABULOUS job writing him, because his character evoked all kinds of emotions for me. There was one scene in particular (early on in the book) where I was kind of hoping Adam would come bursting through the door and save Sophia.
Adam and Connor were great characters as well. You could tell how much they both cared for Sophia, and how much they both wanted her back in their lives.
Overall, I really liked this book! I think this is a perfect summer read! If you haven't read it. Do yourself a favor and go pick it up. I can't wait to read more from this author!
Sophia has dealt with a lot of loss in her life; her mom died, her best friends are no longer around and she has a $hitty boyfriend. To say she has a few issues is an understatement. Finally after her boyfriend Kyle beats her again, she decides to leave. With her bff Erin at her side, she moves on with her life. Around that same time her best friends come back. They rekindle their friendship.
Sophia and Adam have a rocky relationship. He wants to do everything he can to protect her and keep her safe and she keeps running away. After the second time of her running away, if I was Adam, I probably would have said Thank Goodness, cause Sophia is a big ball of messed up. Some how he keeps hanging out, waiting to pick up the pieces again. Sophia finds out that the company she was hired at, is run by her boyfriend, his brother and their dad. Of course she has another temper tantrum. Because no one told her. Why not just have a grown up conversation about it?
Kyle, the ex boyfriend keeps turning up and stalking her. He just can’t understand it’s over. No matter how many times Sophia tries to tell him, he just doesn’t get it. This part of the book is the most realistic and well written part. He beat her down mentally and physically to the point where she is just a door mat and can’t see past his words. When she finally realizes he doesn’t have any power over her, it’s like a breath of fresh air. She at that point becomes a character to me that I want to read about and learn about.
At one point, I was like she traded one bad relationship for another one. Adam, her boyfriend keeps her locked in the apartment and doesn’t let her live her life. I understand he wants to protect her, but she needed to live too. He needed to trust her, not lock her away and expect her not to freak out.
I’m a sucker for male and females being friends in books, especially with the possibilities of it turning into more. So, when I decided to read and review this book, I was really excited. However, this book was not what I expected…
The beginning was really good and I liked the fact that Sophia (love that name) was seeking help for all her issues, past and current. She seemed like a really bright girl and I liked her a lot. As for her boyfriend Kyle, he’s nothing but a jerk and is mentally, physically and sexually abusive to her. It broke my heart to read such a nice girl be hurt like that.
And then came Adam to save the day. I wondered where he’d been and what he’d been up to for the past four years, but it’s not really mentioned. I really liked the way his character was really a hero. There seemed to be a mystery about him that reminded me of the Edward Cullen from the “Twilight” series. While we know there was an accident that he was involved in (and I think her mother too), I wasn’t really sure about it, but I’m thinking that in S. Moose’s next book (yes, there’s a next book) we’ll find out more. Thank goodness!
There were parts where the abuse got to me a little too much, and some words and feelings were overused, but it made me wonder if I would do and say the same things if I were in Sophia’s place. With all the twists, turns, and heartbreak that this was in this book that I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know what happened next.
For writing a debut novel like this, S. Moose is brave, but I love that she took the chance because I got really invested in these characters, especially Sophia’s, who I probably won’t forget.
This is the first book in the never letting go series where we follow Sophia and Adam through their relationship.
Set in school, we first learn about the relationship between Sophia and her current boyfriend Kyle. I don’t want to give anything away as it is a major part of the story but I couldn’t wait for Adam to come back into Sophia’s life. To say I disliked Kyle would be an understatement and the two men couldn’t be more different. The author, S. Moose, deals with some heavy issues in this story and she covered them and their feelings around these issues realistically.
I must admit that I found Sophia to be immature and her bad decisions and lack of communication frustrated me. That being said it kept me reading as I needed to know how things played out.
Adam came across as sexy, confident and maybe a little too protective of Sophia. I swooned every time he called her ‘Pretty girl’, which was a lot!
The relationship between Sophia and Adam was very much a rollercoaster of up’s and down’s, mainly due to Sophia which was my main frustration with her. Adam sure had some patience!
“Sophia, never forget the ones who touched your life and who you keep in your heart.”
The supporting characters played a big part, paving the way for their own story nicely. Connor, Adam’s adoptive brother was so sweet and caring. He really loved Sophia and wanted her to be happy. Erin, Sophia’s best friend was a great friend to have and always seemed to be the voice of reason.
Overall, if you like angst, push and pull, young love stories then you will love this. I personally am looking forward to Connor and Erin’s story in Next to forever, as I think I like them more!
This is a love story but this book also tackles Lots of difficult subjects, a young woman still struggling to come to terms with her mothers death and domestic abuse.
Sophia, she wants to be a happy person and wants to please others so puts up with Kyles violent behaviour, until Erin her best friend catches him in action. While all this is happening Adam and Connor her best friends from childhood are back and distracting her. She really misses them she pushed them away after her mothers death.
Adam, couldn't handle bereaved Sophia so backed off, he was young I can't blame him for that. Now his back and wants to be friends with Sophia again, maybe more?
Kyle, is the only problem in there way his sick, disturbed and needs help. He is obsessed with her and can't leave her alone and you know it's not going to go well.
The question is can they rekindle there friendship and make it more with Kyle on the loose, let me tell you it's not an easy journey. Bumpy is one word for it. I did find Sophia annoying at times, immature maybe, I know shes got problems and I know we take things out on our nearest and dearest most but Adam dear Adam has the patience of a saint. Adam is adorable, kind considerate, caring and giving, I fell for him! He comes from money too, not that money is what makes him nice.
I liked the pace of the story, it wasn't to rushed and the writing flowed nicely, it's not a pleasant subject, but along with it you get a love story, a bumpy one and the ending makes it a journey worth making.
I enjoyed there journey and would recommend this book. I'm awarding this four stars.
I liked this book but I felt that it was missing a little more of connection between the characters. A little frustrating (like every other book) but if you want to read a short story it's worth it.
Sophia lost her mother. Her mother had a special connection with Sophia. They were really close so when she lost her mother, she felt alone and her whole world falling.
Sophia, Adam and Connor had been best friends since they were little. But Sophia pushed away everybody because of the loss of her mother.
Years passed and Sophia found support in Kyle, her actual boyfriend. Until she starts to open her eyes and realizes who really is the person she is with. However, what happens when her old best friends come back and one of them, Adam, is determined on making Sophia finally his?
Will she fight to protect herself or will she accept to stay with the people who love her to help her?
What I didn't like was that . Other than that the book, I think, is great.
READ THE SECOND BOOK! IT'S IN THE POV OF ADAM --> Holding onto You
I really liked this book and fell in love with Adam. He loves Sophia soooooooo much. His love for her is so strong it makes me want to cry. As the book starts Sophia is this broken woman who has no confidence in herself and suffers from depression. She dates this guy Kyle and he is a complete arsehole...lol He's dangerous and possessive, but most of all crazy. Sophia thinks she deserves everything that Kyle does to her..Finally, one night he is really hurting hurt and her best friend Erin comes in and saves her. Erin convinces her to dump the shit head, because she deserves better. Sophia is still not sure it's the right thing to do even though he almost kills her. At this point I was getting really frustrated with Sophia. Then comes in Adam and Connor. They are her childhood best friends that she has not seen in four years because of a huge argument she had with them after her mom died. They both show up at her college to finish their last year together. Adam is the one that is in love with her and wants her back. He never stopped loving her and does everything he can to get her back. Their chemistry is still there, and believe me you will fall in love with Adam. Connor is Adam's adopted brother, and he is her best friend as well but they have a different connection. Their connection is more of a brotherly love. Connor is the sweetest guy and very shy. Connor and Erin (Sophia's best friend) start a thing which is cute to see. In the end the love between Adam and Sophia is tested but they fight for each other. You will love the book and how it ends.
This is a story of abuse, sadness, hardships but also redemption, friendship and a love that transcends time. It is a quick paced read for its 218 pages, mainly due to the suspense and tension S. Moose builds within the story.
Sophia is still dealing with her mother’s death. There were many times when I found here irritating but as I read on further, I accepted her a little more. Don’t get me wrong, some of the things she did were crazy but I could see where she was coming from.
I understand how profoundly affected Sophia was by her abusive relationship (with Kyle) but even when things started to look up for her she managed to find a way or a reason to run from it, from Adam. What I found a little frustrating was how willing he was time after time to accept her back with open arms. But I guess it’s like the saying goes, the heart wants what the heart wants. I loved the interactions between them and Connor and Erin; they really seemed to be at their best and content when together.
I found the scenes with Kyle so real; the emotion behind them, the irrepressible need for control within him and Sophia’s response to him and his actions.
Overall the characters had great chemistry and the friendship, love and importance of family were evident. I applaud S. Moore for taking on a topic so delicate to write about as physical and emotional abuse; something she does with great finesse and care. I’ll be looking out for the next book in the series Next to Forever, which is Connor and Erin’s story.
Sophia is struggling to make her life happy, the way it was meant to be. After the loss of her mum, her life fell apart. On top of the loss of her mum, she also lost her two best friends, Connor and Adam. They were inseparable since child hood but when tragedy struck Sophia's family, she felt abandoned by Adam, who she also loved.
The book starts 4 years after this tragedy and Sophia is still struggling to make sense of her life. She has a wonderful best friend Erin, but a horribly abusive boyfriend. At first this was a little hard to read. When your reading about abuse, you want to yell at the Sophia to tell someone. She is also going to therapy to deal with the death of her mother and doesn't tell her therapist that he uses her as a punching bag. The light on the horizon is that Adam and Connor have returned and are now attending Sophia's school.
Erin is the one who finds out about the abuse when she walks in on Kyle beating up Sophia. She is tough and pinches him in the face ( awesome) Erin is a great character and i wish Sophia had listened to her more. Erin made a lot more sense then Sophia ever did. Adam is back to stay and to be the man in Sophia's life. He is stead fast and true. He never wavers for Sophia but she was a little hard to take at times. There is only so many mistakes a character can make until it is beyond stupid. I hate to say it but Sophia got to this point for me.
Overall, i feel Adam, Connor and Erin make the book, they are what kept me reading.
A HUGE thank you to the author for providing me with a ARC copy of this book to review for the tour :) <3
This book was amazing.
A beautiful romance, with a twist of hate, secrets, jealousy and abuse.
Sophia: as we know went through a rough patch when her mother died, she started to shut down;
Withdrew from the world we live in
Distanced herself from her loved ones
4 Years after loosing not only her best friend but the love of her life Sophia is finally getting her life back on track. She's doing extremely well in school and applied for a placement at a big company.
She has a new man in her life Kyle. Kyle is on the basketball team and Sophia likes to think he loves her.
But she just can't help but feel like something is missing
Someone is missing, more to the point.
S moose really puts you into perspective of what Sophia is going through in her life. You can tell she's depressed but trying her hardest to be happy with what life throws at her.
When an unfortunate accident brings Adam back to his home land is scary, not only has he been AWOL for 4 years, but he will have to face his one ex-best friend. ex-love of his life, no scrap that STILL the love of his life.
Adam has loved Sophia since he can remember and he's pretty adamant she loves him just as much.
Kyle starts to turn which causes Sophia to rethink her relationship
Adam walks back into everyone's lives after 5 years of absence.
There's twists and turns in this book that will have you pulling your hair out, and bursting into tears, I know I did :)
Love this and would recommend for you to all read :)
3.5 stars- I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review
I really wanted to love this one. Unfortunately this book was not for me. I believe this story is intended for a younger audience. I am in the minority here, this book has a lot or 5 star ratings so I will recommend you to buy, read it and decide for yourself.
Here are the positives: HEA (with a bonus at the end) Very romantic Likable characters (Connor was my fave)
Here is where it lost me. The story had some major drama so it did not pull me in.
*SPOILERS* To tell you a little bit about the story, it is about Sophia. She is telling her story. She is in college, she has a best friend (love her) and she has a boyfriend. Her boyfriend Kyle looks like the perfect guy on the outside but he has some demons. He is abusive. Sophia has been in college for 4 years and away from her 2 best friends (Adam and Connor). Her mom past away and she was destroyed so she pulled away from her friends and they lost touch. 4 years later they connect again in college. She realizes that she still had feelings for Adam but she was with Kyle. She breaks up with him after a big fight where he took things physically. She starts hanging out with Adam, they fall in love. Drama with Kyle follows. She gets hurt, twice. But it all works out in the end. She marries Adam and it's a HEA with a bonus. Not gonna tell you what, you need to read it to find out.

I really loved the premise of this book. I would love to give it a higher rating but Sophia is a character who is all over the place. She needs to be a bit more developed since there were places I was lost about what might be going on. I think my main problem with the book was that she did not act as I expected her to. There are times I think she is a teenager and not a 21/22 year old woman. At the same time I want to shake her and tell her to wake up and listen to those who love her and stop acting like an idiot. The beginning of her story is heartbreaking but she keeps making excuses and possibly falling back into the situation. If she had been more developed and not so wishy-washy at times I think I would have given this book a higher star rating.
But again I LOVED the story and the idea behind it. It is about survival, a life long love, and true friendship. I will say I am interested in reading Erin and Conner's story to see what happens between the two of them.
