Fool me once…
When attorney Liza O’Malley believes her twin sister, Meg, is about to marry the wrong man, Liza plays matchmaker, sending her sister off to reunite with her teenage sweetheart. Still stinging from her own fiancé’s betrayal, career-driven Liza temporarily moves into her sister’s home and assumes her flamboyant twin’s identity. The last thing Liza wants is another man in her life. Until her twin’s intended mistakes her for Meg and gives her a kiss that upends her opinion of the man she didn’t think was good enough for her sister.

Once burned, twice shy…
Left at the altar by his former fiancée, builder and mayor pro tem of Meadow Springs, Martin Landsburg, is content with his platonic relationship with Meg O’Malley, until one kiss changes everything. Not realizing it was Meg’s twin, Liza, that he kissed, he’s surprised by a newly ignited passion. Perhaps it’s time for him to finally find the courage to give marriage another try.

Just one kiss…
It’s hard enough being a big-city girl pretending to be her small-town sister, but now Liza’s falling in love with her twin’s intended. The wrong man for her sister may just be exactly the right man for herself. Of course, that might change once Martin discovers he’s proposed to yet another woman who’s been deceiving him all along. But sometimes the wrong thing can turn out so right…

Not that long ago I read Bride by Mistake. After finishing that book i saw there was another one to the series. So when I read the synopsis for Bride by Chance it seemed to be pretty much the same as the first just taking place with the other twin sister. Curiosity about how this story line worked in conjunction with the first got the better of me. So when it was available to loan from the Kindle Library I did.

As always these aren't the type of books that are to get you into a lot of deep thoughts. It's a fluff piece. Not a great one though. I found the writing in the book more annoying, and maybe that is heavily due to the fact that you felt like you were reading THE SAME EXACT STORY. But mostly it was because they would repeat the same thing at least 3 or 4 times in a chapter. Redundant to say the least.

If you really need something to occupy your time but not take a lot of concentration, for a commute or at the beach than read this book. But otherwise no big loss if you decide to skip this one.

I received a free copy of Marilyn Shank's new romance novel Bride by Chance as a Goodreads first reader. It was a sweet little story that took an afternoon of tea and plate of cookies to finish. Tame and chaste, not one swear word or sensual thought expressed, darn it... Cute story idea, easy read. "Clean" romance, safe for tweens, early teens, and the Sunday School set.

Bride by Chance is by Marilyn Shank. It is a romance. The plot is predictable but it has enough twists to make it interesting.
Liza O’Malley is a high powered attorney who is on the fast track to make partner. She has been friends with Zach Addison since high school and had agreed to pretend to be his fiancée. However, she has other plans. She convinces her twin sister, Meg, to take her place as Zach’s fiancée so Liza can attend an important conference. In reality, Liza has no conference but is giving Meg time to realize she loves Zach and not Martin Landsburg. Liza just has to find some place to go to give Meg time to realize she loves Zach. Liza ends up in Meg’s house.
Martin Landsburg comes to Meg’s house to check on Lancelot, her dog. Instead he is surprised to find “Meg” at home. Liza goes along with the pretense that she is Meg and ends up spending time with Martin. The more time they spend together, the surer Martin is that he is in love with Meg. Liza is faced with the predicament that she is falling in love with Martin and it is not fair to either Meg or Martin.
How is Liza to get out of the dilemma she put herself in? What will Martin say or do when he finds out the truth? How will Meg feel when she discovers the lies Liza has told?

This book is a slow-pace one compared to 'Bride By Mistake'. This book tells the other side of the story of the twin sisters Meg and Lisa O'Malley. Lisa planned to switch lives with Meg so she could reconnect with high school crush Zach Addison. This started when Lisa said she had a convention she had to go to and could not pass it up. In reality, there was no convention. She had nothing to do while she was in Meg's hometown of Illinois till she met Martin Landsburg, Meg's boyfriend.

This switch caused both sisters to find their true love. Although both sisters played the scheme for a week, both felt awful about it. Lisa who was the mastermind behind the switch-lives-scheme, she was the one who felt the most pain about the plan. She realized the dangerous outcome it would have on everyone, especially Martin since he would have his heart broken by both O'Malley sisters. The pressure of the scheme was about to break Lisa since she felt guilty and having realized she was falling for Martin at the same time, when she told Rachel who she really was. She gained an ally, who helped her though the rest of the week. When both sisters have had enough of the scheme, they decided to tell Martin and Zach. Sadly, their identities were revealed before they had a chance to tell their significant other who they were engaged to. Both Zach and Martin were outraged by how the sisters played them and eventually spoke to a friend, Martin- Rachel, Zach- Jeff. Both Jeff and Rachel explained one thing that was true for both Zach and Martin, there was sparks flying from the moment they met the other twin. And that they fallen in love, hard and fast. Martin and Zach decided to forgive the twin sisters and had their first kiss as the couples who were engaged and truly in love.

These two books show that even though a person might have been deceitful, they will regret their decision after they have fallen in love. And it would be easier to move forward once forgiven.

Okay, this was pure chick lit. :). This was a crazy premise and I had to suspend some belief at the audacious twin identity switch but it was a cute story. I had read book one about Meg and Zach several years ago and for some reason did not want to read this one. I think Meg's deception of Zach was less repugnant to me at the time because neither of them had been invested in their relationships (Meg with Martin and Zach's with Liza)v but Liza's deception of Martin felt more underhanded because he seemed to be so kind and so invested in the relationship with Meg. I disliked the frequent repetition of Martin's failed relationship with Melissa and to a lesser extent Liza's with Travis. It seemed to be stated way more frequently than such a relatively short story warranted. Plus, with Travis' cheating, I felt Liza would have been completely opposed to put herself in the same position with Meg's boyfriend. However, all in all it was a cute story and a quick read.

Grown twin women trade places and Liza (a lawyer) spends time with her sister Meg's boyfriend Martin so Meg can aspire to fall in love with her high school boyfriend. Lies abound with people being less than happy. Companion piece to Bride by Mistake.

Good Book

This was a Good Book. But, the ending sucks. What happens when both sisters get together. I know they happy, but they should put them both in at the end, since it was a series, they should have a double wedding.

A love captured without looking for one, a love found at first sight. Even though there's going to be some explaining to do between sisters and Martin initially got hurt, but just as quickly his heart repaired. Who'd have thought swapping lives would bring them the happiness that both sisters needed.

Both guys had to make it through the twins deception to be healed with the right person for them.

I just wished their was more to their story.
