This is now one of my top dramione fics of all time. My heart did not CEASE to explode with happiness.

This was exactly what I’ve been desperately looking for. I’ve been in a slump and this GAVE ME THAT FEELING. You know the one. The feeling where you are consumed by a story and in love with reading it. Where all you think about all day long is “when is the next second where I can sit down and read my book.” That feeling. FULL FORCE.

Love and Other Historical Accidents is for the dramione lovers who read Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love and said “yes pls more of that thank you.” This is bumbling idiots in love. This is all the humor AND all the emotion. This is pining and banter and chemistry. And the writing? genuinely stunning.

I’m forgetting the best part…this is regency dramione because Draco and Hermione might have broken a time-turner and got sent back 200 years into the past :)))

LAOHA also has my favorite romantic element ever (I don’t really think it’s a trope ?) and it’s ~LOVE AS SUFFERING. Draco. Is. sUfFEriNGggg in this. It’s so freaking painful to read. Perfection.

I laughed out loud so many times. This was so fun. Idiots in love is my favorite trope, and I will never get tired of these well-written, hilariously silly fics. This was perfect in every way.

My Thoughts:

This started off really well. I enjoyed the premise of Hermione and Draco having a time turner mishap that sends them back in time. I laughed a lot at the banter and everyone's different opinions about that damn snuff box (lol). It was interesting seeing the ancestors of a lot of the characters from the OG story. I LOVED Mr. Martin and Grix (a house elf). The ending was very romantic and fun. And my favorite part of the story has to be when Draco wakes up after being unconscious for a few days and he's super open about his feelings and his horniness for Hermione.

However . . .

The miscommunication was such an issue that about halfway through I lost interested and I started skimming just to get through it. It's so painfully obvious Draco is in love with Hermione, but she purposefully ignores it to the point where she doesn't even recognize it as a possibility. She fights her feelings so much, that it felt ooc for someone like Hermione. I wanted to punch her a few times. Especially when she wouldn't just tell Draco her and Ron were no longer together, which led him to continue believing throughout the story that he could never have her. I hated this.

This is definitely a me thing, but I HATE when Draco is characterized as a playboy, who fucks people because he can't have Hermione. And throughout the story, there are flashbacks where Hermione overhears some women at the ministry talk about the escapades with Draco, and it just made me nauseous. I get he's not going to be celibate just because he can't have her, but I also could have lived without knowing who he's gotten under in an attempt to get over Hermione.

Also, when they first arrive in the 1800s, Hermione first suggests they go to the Ministry and explain what's happened, but they decide not to because Draco is starving and wants food from a nearby wedding, which they then get confused for a local wizard's extended family and they decide to stick around. At no point does Hermione's original idea of going to the Ministry come up, when it would have been the easiest solution.

simply put, this was a masterpiece. fanfiction at its absolute finest. so glad i get to start off 2025 with a 5 (honestly more like 6) star read!

top tier dramione fic. actually, it’s officially in my top 3 along with dmatmobil and manacled.

i was highlighting so much while reading. the banter and yearning is unmatched! it’s only comparison could be dmatmobil. (which is my fav dramione fic of all time)

the historical aspect of this made it SO fun. the reason i didn’t read this sooner was bc i was afraid i wouldn’t like that part of it only to end up absolutely loving it. kicking myself for not reading this sooner. it slightly (very slightly) reminds me of little women and i love that.

also, the writing?? don’t even get me started. this is one of the most well-written fics i’ve read so far. (including the 100s of wattpad fics i’ve read through the years before switching to ao3.) it’s honestly better than a ton of published books i’ve read as well. i can’t believe this is on the internet FOR FREE!! doing the lord’s work. it’s fics like this that make me so grateful manacled sent me down the dramione rabbit hole because i get to stumble upon these gems i otherwise never would’ve picked up.

i’ll be thinking about the quote “if hunger was adequate proof of love, i would starve at your altar.” forever probably.

what a spectacular way to end a fic. i feel like a lot of the fanfics i’ve read have the most glorious build up only to fall short with the ending chapter(s). that was not the case here!

Man, what a roller coaster! I mostly loved this, then morphed to ambivalence, then hated it, then got really frustrated and bored and started skimming, then loved it again. Ultimately, this was a great Dramione and one that I won’t forget anytime soon. Pride and Prejudice meets Dramione in the best ways!

Draco and Hermione are lab partners in their own little research department of The Ministry of Magic. They’ve worked together for five years and are very close to a breakthrough. Working with curses objects and time turners isn’t for the faint of heart, which is why they keep their cool after being sent 200 years into the past. Mostly. Masquerading as brother and sister, the two encounter historical Longbottoms, Avery’s, and many other old wizarding families.

As Hermione and Draco work to unravel their mistake from the future to try and escape the past, a comedy of errors transpires. Hearts are given and discarded, alliances are created, heads are broken, and Hermione and Draco learned more than they bargained for about themselves and each other. All while maintaining decorum and propriety, of course. The writing is flowery and dense, but I loved the banter between H and D. I wanted to kill Hermione a lot, wanted to kiss Draco, and wanted to marry the two of them together. Anywho, this was great fun, but my next read will hopefully not be a battle of the angsts like this one!

I had heard this had similar vibes to "Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Falling in Love", but sadly, this was not my thing.

The premise itself was fun, as was the backdrop of regency era magical England (I did like the Jane Austen vibes). What I could not get behind were the characters. This was one of the most unlikeable versions of Hermione I have come across. In several chapters (and there aren't that many) she is drunk for most of the time and more often than not she is sidelined as damsel in distress or watching somebody else do something impressive or smart. Furthermore, I could not root for her love story to work out because she was just so unpleasant to the love interest from beginning to end.

And finally, the amount of miscommunication in this story - you actually can't call it communication at this point. In several scenes I could tell the author just wanted to be clever and insert as many innuendos as possible, thus creating very stilted, unnatural dialogue filled with misunderstandings and gaps. And then there was also the non-communication of important pieces of information, which brought the story very close to cheating territory. Hermione has broken up with Ron before the start of the story, but hasn't communicated this to Draco. Of course she is not obliged to do that. However, when at some point they start hooking up, this might be a good moment to mention it, especially because DRACO THINKS HE IS INVOLVED IN CHEATING. Not that it deters him. He feels bad about it, but keeps doing it anyway. And it takes a long long long time for Hermione to tell him that she is, in fact, single. How am I supposed to root for this relationship when it is so broken from the start?

Witty banter, fun plot, and filled with hijinks but also a lot of really beautiful moments.

There’s a moment towards the end that is easily in my top ten favorite scenes I’ve ever read. It was just such raw emotion that it ripped my little heart out.

I wouldn't say I loved it. There was barely any plot, sometimes dialogues and scenes were very confusing. I constantly drifted from liking it to being annoyed. Some banter was pretty good and I had a laugh but the overall impression is really blurry for me and I can't say I enjoyed myself. The author thinks and writes in unusual structures and my brain didn't pick it up all the time. Very different to other fanfics I've read but not my cup of tea.

this was not giving what it was supposed to give.
the idea was there, the story was there but the execution was not. getting whirled off to 1800s due to an accident caused by a time-turner was essentially a great plot idea, but jesus i just wanted it to end.
once i got through the first half, the miscommunication got so old and i was over it already. not even miscommunication itself, but keeping secrets in general and not saying anything out loud. H kept pushing D away the whole time and once he said he was leaving she starts hyperventilating and "wdym?? you can't leave me??" LIKE. MISS GIRL you did not just say that. not even the romantic aspect of the story kept me interested, i skimmed it just for the sake of figuring out how it will all end. only reason i gave it three stars is because D was hilarious and carried the whole story on his back.

Simultaneously one of the most frustrating miscommunication tropes and also the most satisfying and beautifully written love declaration scenes I’ve ever read. This may be the only time you ever hear me say nice things about miscommunication, but with one line Pacificrimbaud had me reevaluating my entire stance. They laid the groundwork, they ruffled feathers, and then they dropped the mic.

The time turner work is always interesting to read about but also way over my head. I’m so glad I live in a world where other people have the minds to grasp the concept to write about it so I can sit back and reap the benefits.

It gave The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013), right? Especially the last 15%, right Ansley? Please confirm.

I needed this so much. Love and Other Historical Accidents was so calming and beautiful ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ the banter, the comedy, the atmosphere was perfect!

I loved the plot and all the characters ♥️♥️ The Avery brothers melted my heart, Cressida was so real, she was head over heels for Draco and I empathised with her on a chemical, quintessential level.
One of my absolute favourite passages was between Cressida and Mione
“When I arrived at the Averys’ to help with the little boys, he was . . .” Cressida trailed off and stared into the middle distance as though haunted by a terrible vision. She turned her eyes to Hermione. “He was wet." Her voice fell to a whisper. "He flipped his hair.”
“No, you have to ignore the hair.”
“His shirt was soaked through. It was clinging to—” Cressida sucked in a staccato breath and was unable to finish.
Hermione nodded. “Please understand that I empathize entirely. I don’t know why they insist on getting themselves wet from time to time. It’s a problem I have no ready solution to.”

Martin and Grix were my favourite characters ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ they will have my heart forever, they made me laugh and smile all of the time.

But in this fic Hermione is so very annoying!!!!!!! With her running through time, not telling Draco about Ron and all her restrains😫😫 gosh, I wanted to scream at her! She was positively absurd!

But was diluted by the other characters so it’s ok.

No denying I do love a good historical romance and this had all the trimmings. Stays, picnics, courting and the highlights, balls.
Throw in some banter between friends and colleagues, Draco and Hermione, such a delight.

Did find the long chapters slowed down my reading (not sure if I can explain this fully), it did take me a little longer than usual to get through this one. Found it had a lot of supercilious descriptions that I felt slowed down the story.

Enjoyed the humour in this reiteration of my favourite couple. And some mishaps led to some page turning continuations.

“Draco and I weren’t particularly memorable I our years at school. I’m afraid nothing remarkable happened to us while we were there”

The obvious way Draco pines after Hermione, whilst this was the slowest of slow burns, when they eventually get together there are fireworks.

“I miss you, Hermione. On weekend. Nights. When I read a passage in a book I think you’d like. Where there’s some irrelevant, inconsequential though I feel compelled to say out loud”

Also, loved the scene where he temporarily loses his memory and wakes with Hermione. Comedy gold.

“I would absolutely like us to make time for that”

The last portion of the book, I was just highlighting like crazy as Malfoy waxed poetic about his feelings for Hermione.

Feel this story could be a great jumping off point for some little novellas that follow their future adventures.

What a magical fanfiction. The writing is beautiful and enchanting. Draco and Hermione are working in the ministry of magic and an unfortunate accident Transports them back in time.
Stuck there they need to find a way back home. The banter is pure perfection. The lavish description set the place perfectly. I'm utterly in love with this story.

This was so surprisingly wonderful! It felt like Jane Austen meets Harry Potter with tons of wit and charm. I loved loved loved Draco in this one. I felt like the love story was refreshing and stands out compared to many of the other Dramiones. 4.75⭐️

“Having that kit in my pocket ruins the lines of the suit.” He laid a hand protectively across the waistband of his trousers. “And I need a well-fitting suit to lure unsuspecting witches to my depraved orgies.”

Hermione snorted. “No witch in the entire Ministry could possibly be unsuspecting at this point.”

Hermione was incensed. Not only was the machine apparently broken, but they’d failed, and failure made her *itch.* When she itched, she needed to work.

“Who ever actually said that I’m putting on sex parties at Malfoy Manor?" There was a laugh threaded through his words, but his voice was sharp with agitation. "Does that even seem plausible to you?”

“Seems plausible enough, yes. With the...” she gestured up and down at him, “...suits.”

“My *suits*, Granger?”

They were *alive*.

They were *together*.

Both of them, under a blue sky, sitting in a field that smelled like horse shit.

Hermione almost howled with relief.

His hair had for several years been trimmed into an undercut, the length at the top forever flopping about over one eyebrow or the other with a maddening look of thoughtless, casual perfection. It was allowed to adopt a tousled nonchalance that made one think "Bed,*"* in a way that caused the loins to wobble a bit, and the void hadn't done it any harm. He was sitting in a field of mud, and yet somehow managed to look shaken and wan in a consumptive, poetical sort of way rather than in a disassembled and muck-smirched way like Hermione was sure she must have done.

Against the black mud, his paleness shone, and his silver-grey eyes reflected the limitless blue of the sky.

For a moment, Hermione almost felt something like positive regard toward him.

Then, like an idiot, he smiled.

That smile.

The audacity of that preposterous, galling, brilliant, *disrespectful* smile.

“You sod,” she said quietly. “You reckless, self-important, pompous *prat.* You blew...up...my...*lab!*” She had started at a *piano*, worked her way through a rapid crescendo and ended in a feral *fortissimo*.

His face dropped.

“*Your* lab? What do you mean *your* lab?” he argued, fatally.

"You must be Granger's thigh maiden,” he said to Margaret. He cleared his throat a second time. “Granger's garter girl. Hermione's, that is. She’s my sister. Hello.”

“You’ve got it down there, haven’t you.”

She glanced straight down into the shadowy depths of her cleavage.

“Even if I did, it wouldn’t be any of your business,” she shot at him.

“Oh, it would be my business,” he said. “You’ve made them entirely my business.”

*“Them?* Don’t you mean *it?”*

“No, I don’t believe that I do.”

He took a single step in her direction.

"I'm keeping an eye on you." He narrowed his eyes at her decolletage.

“Are you speaking to my—”

Before she could finish her thought, the laughter of four women came ringing down the pathway through the trees and entered the cottage at the open front window.

Draco nodded politely, and turned to Hermione. He had that pained, biscuit look again. “You look incredibly beautiful.”

Hermione tilted her head and smiled at him angelically, brushing a curl back from her eye. “Overkill,” she muttered through her teeth, moving her mouth as little as possible.

Draco scowled.

“An affectionate brother,” affirmed Sir Thomas. “I approve of you, Granger! I approve. Now, let��s eat!”

“I’m always safe, I'll have you know," Draco began, turning towards her.

At the same time, Hermione leaned in to place a perfunctory kiss on his cheek.

The corner of his mouth where her partially opened lips met his was soft and warm.

He tasted of mint.

They both pulled back as though they’d been singed.

"I don't know what to do," she said plaintively. "And I always know what to do."

Carefully, she rose, and even more carefully, slid into the narrow strip of space between his body and the edge of the bed.

“You’re a cad,” she whispered. Her tears forged new paths from the corners of her eyes and dripped onto the bed linens. She brought her free hand to his mouth. With the lightest touch, she traced the shape of his upper lip. “And of course you taste of mint.”

She brushed the pads of her fingers over the full curve of his lower lip, then let them trail over his cheek and jaw to the space just behind his ear.

“You're going to wake up tomorrow,” she said. "I'm telling you, and you have to listen to me this time."

Her voice was nearly swallowed up by the soft pop and whine of charred wood in the fireplace. She lifted their entwined fingers to her mouth and rested her lips against the back of his hand.

“You're the worst.” Her breath moved over his skin. “You must know that you are.” She stroked his earlobe, once, with a vanishing touch.

“I don’t care where it is,” she whispered. “It could be England, or France, or Argentina.” Her voice was thick and stilted. “And I don’t care whether you can walk, or talk, or tie your own cravat. But you have to be in the world. I couldn't possibly stand it if you weren't.”

In the ten months Hermione spent at Hogwarts with Draco making up for a ruined seventh year, she had never once seen him smile. And in their three months working together in the Department of Mysteries, he'd smiled once, perhaps twice, and only ever when he thought she wasn’t looking.

If she slept, she was unaware of it, but she felt as though she were returning from someplace far away when her eyes snapped open at the sensation of a balmy hand slipping over the tops of her feet.

Draco’s head lolled to the side.

His eyes were open.

They remained half-lidded, bleary and holding Hermione’s face in unstable focus. A hint of the purple and yellow bruising that had bloomed around his eyelids over the course of the first day remained, and the whites of his eyes were tinted with the fading pink of broken blood vessels, but his irises were clear and grey-blue.

He breathed in, and then out—a contented sigh, like he’d woken early on a drowsy Sunday—then said in an insubstantial, sandpaper voice, “Your feet are freezing.”

“*Oh, God.*” She pulled her feet away from his side. “Draco.”

She tried to gather her thoughts—to determine what to say, what to ask, how to ascertain his state of mind, his degree of awareness, his level of recovery. As her mind cycled through the possibilities, Draco rolled fully onto his side, draped his arm around her waist, and pulled her body flush against his.

Hermione’s mouth fell open in a gasp of surprise, but before she could say anything, he bent his head down and kissed her.

“Orgies?” He drew back yet again, incredulous. “That’s too much work. Too much body. I just want one body.” He looked down at his own hand as it pulled appreciatively at her breast. “I want *this* one.” With that, he dove back into her mouth.

“And my hair. You like my hair. You love it, actually.” He pulled his hand through the disheveled two inches of hair he had sprouted overnight, and frowned again. “Sweet merciful mother of—what’s been done to it?”

"Please want this." He spoke quietly into the fugitive space between their mouths. "Please, Hermione.”

“I miss you when I’m with other women,” he went on. “Every time. Can you imagine? I promise you can’t.”

“You and your brother will be sorely missed, Miss Granger.” The young bride laid her gloved hand over Hermione’s and squeezed it. “You’ll come again soon, won’t you?”

“I—” Without warning, tears pooled in Hermione’s eyes. She looked towards the woods, wicked them away with her glove, and faced Mrs. Longbottom again cheerfully. “I would like that very much.”

He held her close in the late afternoon, and they kissed for two hundred years.

Wow- just wow
My emotions were all over the place with this one. The amount of times I wanted to strangle people but simultaneously kiss them was actually crazy (in the best way). I was listening to this while at work, and when I tell you it was rough trying to keep my face blank. The amount of times I had to turn my face because I started laughing or smiling- the jokes in this one are top tier.

There was a little bit of a miscommunication troupe in there, but not to the extent where you want to burn your house down. I wanted to rip my hair out when they KEPT PASSING THE WRONG NOTES TO THE WRONG PEOPLE, WHICH MADE FOR A NIGHT OF HELL, but besides that and one small thing (at least small in my eyes), it wasn't too bad. It made the story chaotic (the whole thing was besides that troupe anyways) but, like, the kind of chaotic you just want to eat, yk? (Please tell me someone understands me)

As someone who has always LIVED for time travel romance, especially time jumps to the past, this really scratched that itch.

I chose 4.5 stars mostly because the beginning was a little hard for me to get into. The author, for some reason, loved using baking analogies when it came to describing body parts (????), but luckily that only lasted the first couple chapters or so.

BUT OH MY GOSH.
The SLOW BURN???
I was GIDDY when they finally kiss, oh my goooooosh.

Martin completely stole the show for me. I swear, half the time he was acting unhinged just so he could get away with stuff. That man knows exactly what he's doing and I love him for it.

The ending was everything I wanted and more. I nearly started crying when they had to say goodbye to the people who had become like family in just a few short weeks. But Draco stalling the return? SWOOOOOONING

I definitely need this light romance after all the dark I've been reading recently. I think this one makes one of my top favorite fics.

This story - oh my god! This one truly snuck up on me and I went from very casual reading to becoming so engrossed in it.

Once I had all the characters correct in my head, this story took on a life of its own for me. It was funny, romantic, sweetly enraging, and at times, I had a weight on my chest not knowing what to expect next.

This was so, so beautifully written. The descriptions of, well, everything, were so well thought out and the dialogue was perfect. The characters were compelling and fun, Martin and Grix especially, and I will miss them so!

I would wager that this has one of the best declarations of love that I have ever read in any book.

I am so sad that I have finished this story, only because I will never get to read it for the first time again.

2⭐️ This was unfortunately not my cup of tea. I like period pieces but I don’t know if it was the long ass narrations, the barely moving plot, or the dry banter, but I couldn’t take it any more after four chapters.

Oh myyyy oh my oh my. I have THOUGHTS.

I love that we jumped right in and didn’t have to build their relationship. It made the dynamic of the book so fun.

The WIT and BANTER and FLIRTING in this was EVERYTHING. So clever. I was kicking and giggling and cheesing my way through.

I noticed small things throughout that made it feel like Martin & Grix knew more than they were leading on, and it was cool to see it all come together in the end. Full circle! Time heals itself and they were able to see their friends again.

Fun to get to know family members of present day friends. The Cressida / Roland storylines were entertaining, but of course still ended up with who they were meant to be with.

Draco with little James? Unsure why the toddler loved Draco but I’ll take it & it was precious.

Grix was everything, so sweet.

The debate of what the snuff box looked like always got me. I thought that storyline was fun, and cool to see how it all comes together. It does beg the question of “what came first”, which was fun to go back and forth on as the story progressed.

I love a Draco that has pined after Hermione for a long time- and this was precious. I gasped when Hermione started to explain why she was so weird about boundaries and not letting herself think about it too hard, feeling like she had been unfaithful to Ron, but her heart always knew. They both knew!

Also I love that they were kind of together through most of the book bc they just couldn’t stay away from each other & in the end Hermione just realized she could not longer deny it.

Loved this so so so much. Gah.

Не скажу, що читала прямо багато фф - можливо 5-7, але цей мені сподобався найменше. Авторка явно надихалася романами Джейн Остін, але все-таки треба мати талант, щоб цікаво подати подібну історію. На мій погляд це було нудно. Жоднісінької хімії між персонажами. Вони загалом не схожі на оригінал і не розумію навіщо їх було так по-дурному подавати. І можна сказати, що це не справжня книга і треба ставитися до сюжету простіше, але, повторюся - між ними немає жодної хімії! А, на мій погляд, фанфіки пишуться виключно заради взаємодії між вже всім відомими персонажами.

Погано. І як на цей жанр читалося доволі довго.
