When young Raymond Bannister reaches school age, his parents prepare to quit their jobs in Retirementville and move someplace Ray can go to school. But the elderly residents won't hear of it. Ray's mom is the only nurse among them. So the retired schoolteachers in the community create a school for one, and Ray finds himself the only student, and only child, in Retirementville, Florida. WWII? That's practically current events. Physical Education...shuffleboard. Ray grows up with a completely different perspective on aging, on life, and on himself.
