I'm on the fence when it comes to Bomb Queen. On the one hand, there's some clever, interesting & amusing satire at the expense of comics, politics and popular culture. On the other, there's Bomb Queen. She's not an interesting villain because she has no agency. She was made to be evil and has no choice but to be a vicious psychopath.

As an editor, my favorite character in this series is Editor Girl, whose magic red pen can edit what people say, giving her the power to literally turn someone's words against them.

This was a nutty series for me. I didn't really like it, but yet I ended up reading the whole thing! I think it was so outrageous I just wanted to see what happened next.

I'm not easily offended, but I'm also not impressed when people offend for the sake of offending. There were some funny moments here, and I did enjoy the art. But it was just too wordy, and really the plots were just sorta--there.

A lot of readers loved this series, and it does have its moments, but overall just wasn't for me.

On the fence about this one. Much less nudity, replaced with a shit load more rape references. I probably would have liked this better if the finale had been the death of Bomb Queen.

A villain as the main character in a city where she is the dictator. You really start to root for her. Winning for her involves a lot of explosions and random killing. The world is great and features a lot of random weird stuff happening in the random panel cutaways or in the corner of a panel. Really suited for someone who has a sick sense of humor. This sort of reminds me of a sicker, 18+ version of Judge Dredd... if Dredd was a psycho killer in a very revealing outfit.

MOST DEFINITELY FOR 18+ READERS.

This fourth, and final, Deluxe trade had 3 stories in it.

This first, Bomb Queen Presents: All-Girl Special, is about a limp problem with all the men of the world. Story was short and sweet but the art was really amateur. (3/5)

Second we have Bomb Queen Versus Hack/Slash Special. A fun meetup between Hack/Slash and Bomb Queen. Adds to the overal story and who doesn't love some Cassie Hack. (4/5)

Finally we have Bomb Queen VII: The End Of Hope. This is the final part of the Bomb Queen Saga. Now a hundred years later how will the world look? And how will Bomb Queen try to rule it. A lot of Shadowhawk law but overall a great ending. (5/5)

This volume strongly ended the Bomb Queen series. Easy read and shorter than the other volumes.

Overall I really enjoyed this series. Well worth a read.

Anyway I recommend this is you have twisted sense of humor and don't mind open depravity being hinted at/half shown.

Overall a 4/5.
