Birth has come back into being coordinated as a sacred event. Cold hospitals with sterile procedures with very little ceremony have been ungraded with midwives, breathing classes, birth coaches, birthing pools, and a variety of other tools, methods, and ceremony to make the event as blessed as possible.

Death is also coming back around to being a sacred event in Western society. Although hospice has been an improvement towards a quality of physical demise, the spiritual and sacred side of death has still been lacking for most of the Western world. That is changing with soul midwifery that help a person towards a spiritual peace with many of the same tools that are in birth. Music, essential oils, touch, breathing, prayer, and ceremony are only a small portion of this magical book.

I encourage those to read this book that may be able to think that death is just as sacred as birth. Whether you follow any of the advice or knowledge in this book or not, hopefully it will plant a seed of understanding that you will bring to the death bed of others.

This was such an incredible read. I’ve read it multiple times and have highlighted it so much. If you are interested in becoming a death doula or if you are having to care for a loved one who is passing, I can’t recommend this book enough.

A useful guide to working with dying people. Some useful information and tips but to my (atheist) mind too heavy on the spiritual aspects.

Seeing as I’ll be a Soul Midwife, this book was a great intro.
