God Wars #3

Blood Revolution

Rate this book
"Just because you've never seen it doesn't mean it can't exist," I pointed out. "You just haven't been in the right place or time before."

"Being in the right place and time with Sirenali sounds crazy and scary as hell," Jayson breathed. "Why can't it be some of those short, friendly guys?"

"There are short, friendly guys, but they don't have any desire to invade somebody else's planet," I said, thinking of the Amterean Dwarves. The only thing they might want to invade was Earth's libraries and information systems. Information was more valuable than precious metals on Amterea.

"We're screwed," Jayson muttered. Opal stifled a snicker.

* * *

Earth has been invaded, and those who have made a difference throughout time are targeted. The enemy's goal? Change things in their favor. The General and his servants still have hopes of finding the Mighty, and luring at least one of them into a trap. Will Love, Strength and Wisdom survive, as they struggle to save those who are important to their cause? Only time will tell.

All I can say is Wow!! I went back to read all of Connie's books again: Blood Destiny series, Legend of It'Indicti series, High Demon series and the first two books of the God Wars series in preparation for this third God Wars book and boy did I miss some things the first time through. I am left speechless. Blood Revolution ended with a bang and I can't help but wonder what will happen in book 4, Blood Love. Thankfully the wait shouldn't be to horrible. One last mini spoiler:

I have always loved Charles!! :) Or maybe not...

MAJOR SPOILERS THROUGHOUT:
I liked this book. The problem was that it was just... okay. There were a few sad parts, but nothing in this installment grabbed at me like previous books. The only parts of the book that grabbed my full attention was the beginning, where Teeg died, and the very end. I was shocked at how upset I actually was when Teeg died. If you would have asked me that before reading this, I would have told you that I didn't care.
Breanne was her usual self. I still feel like she is avoiding her problems. If she would have been in the future like she was supposed to be, a lot of things wouldn't have happened. I am disappointed that I didn't get a lot of action and decision making from her. There were a few times when Breanne stood up to Hank, Jayson, and Bill but for the most part, she didn't. The few time she did, I was proud of her. She told the males that spanking a person who wants it is okay but if you spank someone who doesn't, it is abuse. I feel like that should have been said a long time ago but I am glad that it was said at least.
I was shocked that Hank ended up being Hanlekidus Frebell/Li'Neruh Rath. I had my suspicions that he wasn't human but I didn't guess that he was High Demon, let alone the new Lord of the Dark Realms. Looking back, it does make a lot of sense and I don't know how I didn't see it before. I feel like I should like Hank but I don't. Some of the things he does/the way he treats Breanne is unacceptable to me. I don't like that he wants to punish Breanne any time she wants to go somewhere without him knowing. I certainly don't agree with his actions and I don't like his attitude.
Overall, I feel like this series is losing it's appeal. As of right now, I don't like where this series is going. I sincerely hope that Connie picks up the pace and changes a few things in the next book. I will be reading it because I have to know what happens after that cliffhanger.

pet Peev

As usual, I enjoyed this book, but Griffin is a pet peeve for me. He’s not an angel, but he’s come to Lissa’s rescue many times, even when she didn’t know it. Also, taking her to fight the RaAk was necessary, or all the worlds would die. It was a sacrifice, but he made it. Now, it’s his fault? He’s made mistakes, but if she can forgive and marry a weasel like Thorsten, Griffin should be a cakewalk.
I want to slap Amaura for running away, like only she suffered the loss of a child. Come on Connie, be fair!!!

Connie Suttle = Tolkien & Frank Herbert & Orsen Scott Card combined

Story development with twists and turns. Character development with weaknesses, strength, redemption, death. Words of wisdom. Words of snark. Hilarity, comedy, tragedy and sorrow. An amazing array of characters, species, god's & goddesses, levels of spiritual beings. Stories within stories.

After eliminating nearly the entire army of rogue gods, Breanne is "slapped" back to Lissa's palace in the "present" where she is healed by Karzac. Lissa tries to talk to her and connect with her, at their first ever meeting, but there's so much emotional turmoil leftover from Breanne's first stay at Lissa's palace that she promptly departs. She continues to run away from people who have hurt her and attempts to get past her PTSD on her own back on earth (a couple years after she left). Her isolation doesn't work very well and soon she is investigating murders in San Francisco among those who visit BDSM clubs. Her efforts lead her to cross paths with some familiar vampires.

Breanne definitely has a problem asserting herself, but I feel like that is the overall main character trait that she's developing in the God Wars series. it can be frustrating because her past causes her to make decisions and accept the ruling or will of others when it would be easy for her to just put her foot down and say, "No," or "this is what I'm doing so deal with it." i have no experience with people who have been through what she has, and so i can't say whether the portrayal is accurate or merely contrived to add drama to the novel.

Characters still pushing their BDSM agenda even though it is clear that Bree will NEVER be interested. Doesn't look or sound like love to me. The polyamory issue also being pushed and is beginning to make me think the author of the series has an agenda that is something other than entertaining her readers. My problem is that I'm a bit OCD and I have to find out what happens to the characters. So while I'll hate myself for it, I'll probably keep reason the series.

I do like seeing more of The characters from the Blood Destiny series.

Okay, I'm 25% through and... LIKING IT so far!!! it's amazing, here's 3 stars. People are treating her pretty well, she's not putting up with too much of other people's shit and I'm not screaming at her in my head...

level of doormat-ity: ACCEPTABLE(ish)

typing as I read the rest:

okay... you can separate particles and do cosmetic surgery in an instant... why can't you separate the particles of your unwanted hair... um... yeah >.< <---- duh!!! *facepalms*

I don't know why every single character is choosing THIS book to get. a. clue. but I'm going to whine and complain that it didn't happen earlier because I AM NEVER SATISFIED. Better late than never?

I liked it. It was good. That is all.

Love this series. Had a whole range of emotions while reading. From anger, sadness, to happiness. There were some times I wanted to jump into the book and knock some sense into the characters. There were other times I did a happy dance.

As I said, love this series. I would definitely recommend reading. Make sure to read Connie's earlier books, such as the Blood Destiny and High Demon Series first as some things will be given away.

The bad guys seem to becoming better at causing havoc. The Might three, love, strength, and wisdom are doing their best to stop all of this, but it's not so simple. These three have their hands full, and love is having to deal with some other issues as well.

This one was okay, but I'm just annoyed with how some things are going, and how some of her mates act around her. Other than that, I liked this one, but it wasn't great.

courage

Breanne is facing her demons one step at a time. We found out what happened to her and so did everyone else. I thought that this was the setting for what happened to her in the next 2 books. I like the characters that are surrounding her. I keep wondering what's the draw why does she have so many men. I hope to find out...

Breanne story is getting good.

Connie you are an awesome talented writer the overlapping with the different times and the constant changing of what happened was just down right awesome.

I wasn't confused or anything, everything tied in with previous books and events.

5 stars as always for Connie Suttle, wow what a cliff hanger though. I don't know any other author who puts their main characters through so much, what an angst fest :)
