Addison Thompson is a teenage female traveller who is low on cash and options when she comes across Brookwick Village. She finds out that she loves knitting, and has a strange and rare family legacy relating to witches. Along her journey, she makes new friends within Brookwick Village and learns how to harness her powers before disaster strikes.
Christen has a way of sucking in a reader, and her source of imagery makes you feel like you're right in the book, seeing and feeling exactly what each character is experiencing! The ending was phenomenal! I can't wait for the second book in the series!
I really loved this book! The characters are genuine, and the story moves along quickly. I read it on the beach, and it kept my attention away from the dolphins and the seabirds and my family. A fun read!
Knitting and a cozy - what more could you ask for?
Terrific. I must admit my own needles flew as I was reading this. She has been in foster care and shortly after graduation she gets in her car and takes the open road. Two years of flea bitten hotels and sleeping in her car lead her to a small community and a yarn shop. Ending up with not only a job but also a safe place to sleep. Unfortunately the previous occupants have all disappeared. The police discount the elderly shop owner until they receive a garbled message from the latest victim. Can they find the girl? Who has taken her? Meanwhile she settles into life and knitting. Although strange dreams plague her. What is she? Is she destined to be the next victim? A great plot that ambles along and builds into a crescendo of action at the end. Wonderful characters and a really different slant on witches and magic. Next please!
Brilliant read, the characters are charming and realistic. You are quickly drawn into the mystery and want to know what happens next. I love the witches in the story and how they are able to use their magic and help others. A good mix of drama, crime, mystery and world of magic all done in such a way that I would love to live in Brookwick. When is book 2 coming out? I will have to get it and see what else happens.
