Two Sides of a Heartbeat picks up where Running to you leaves off.. Alex has been kidnapped, held for a huge money payment from her dad, but when things don't go according to plan for the kidnappers and the swat team goes in anyways shots are fired, dreams are lost, and things may never be the same again.. for Alex and Grayson things might never be the same.
Alex has been kidnapped, stolen from, injured, and more. but the one thing she never lost faith in was that Grayson would find her no matter what. But when things are starting to look like maybe everything that Alex knows to be true might be a lie she doesn't know how to handle all the loss she is feeling.
Grayson knows that he will do anything to find and keep the love of his life, but when decisions are made that keeps Alex out of the loop things in his life might not end the way he wants them to.
I really liked the first book of this series Running to you! and I was really excited that Delaine gave me this book to read before the national release, I loved that this book continued where the last book left off, I was happy with the ending of the book, and I am looking forward to the next book of the series and Harrison's story.. I hope that we get to see a lot of more these characters in the coming books of the series!
OMG! I loved this book! It was a full range of emotions from crying to laughing and back to crying again lol. I'm so happy with the way it ended and I can't wait for the next in this series. Hopefully it will continue with Harrison and Monica's story ;)
Wow, just freakin’ mind-blowing!! This was amazing, intense read from the beginning to the very end. It starts just where Running to You left off but the emotions that I experienced for Grayson and Alex were fear and sadness. Every now and then I would find tears trickling down my face but there were times they were laughter tears instead of sadness tears.
I totally feel in love with Grayson and Alex in Running to You and knew that these two characters were going to have a long journey in order for them to have their happily ever after. Now after reading Two Sides of a Heartbeat I love them even more but there are also some characters that I need to learn more about. I love Ms. Roberts writing style and how she was able to captivate, enthrall my attention to the point that I lost a couple of hours of sleep but believe me it was so worth it. The emotional roller coaster ride that this story goes through varies depending on what is going on in their lives, there’s fear, sadness, joy, anger, doubt but most of all love, passion, a passion so deep that it’s hard for them be apart to long.
The journey Alex and Grayson start in this story is nothing but tragic. I felt their pain, its something that both of them will never be able to forget but I’m glad that there was someone there to help Alex with her pain, Tara. Tara became a person that gave Alex hope for the future, the future of being Ms. Grayson Brooks. Grayson and Alex are very passionate characters that have the need to be intimate every second, minute, hour of the day and it’s killing both of them not being able to have sex. Only they do get creative especially with chocolate body paint that they both enjoy licking off each other’s body.
I was so happy for Harrison and Grayson for actually talking about the past but it seems that they still have trust issues that they need to resolve but at least they are able to talk and laugh. I was also happy that Alex, her father and stepmother were able to bond and it seemed that the family was coming together. Of course there is Cooper and his usual self, being there when Alex needs a shoulder to cry on but there is someone new Monica. It seems that Monica and Alex are getting fairly close and are becoming like sisters. Just when you think that finally Alex and Grayson are going to be happy, they had a beautiful wedding in Bora Bora well think again. Grayson needs to learn that he needs to be open with Alex, did he not learn anything from what happened in the past. Yes I totally understand patient confidentiality since I work in a clinic but you can tell your spouse a condensed version without using names that will at least ease your spouse’s doubts. Only when someone from the past comes back, it doesn’t look good for Grayson because he just might lose the family they just created and a marriage that only lasted a couple of months.
Two Sides of a Heartbeat was an emotional read that had me crying within a couple of minutes of reading the first chapter. The pace of this story is perfect and loved how detailed some of the scenes were. I do have to say that it was also hilarious, Alex is an amazing woman with her bantering with Grayson, with Cooper and anyone else she is just funny. Ms. Roberts you are an amazing writer with an amazing creative mind. I loved how the writing made me feel like I was taking the journey with Grayson and Alex. I love how this story is all about Grayson and Alex but it also gives the reader a glimpse of the future book that is in store. I am so ready for Harrison, Grayson’s twin, story. Oh and I have to say that I loved the amount of detail of the wedding in Bora Bora sounds divine especially their private little island, where they can do everything and anything without prying eyes. Then of course there are the hot passionate sex scenes that are out of this world. The passion that Grayson shows, the hunger that he has for Alex is scorching hot. I can’t believe my kindle did not go up in flames but I will say Alex actually came out of her shell when it came to exploring new things. I about rolled over in pain, no not actual pain but of the laughter when Alex was cursing about the one night of the most wicked passionate sex scene against the wall, but you will have to read to find out why.
Two Sides of a Heartbeat is one that I am sure to read again and again just like Running to You the first of this series. I’m not done raving about this read just yet, I will keep recommending this read to everyone I know. Thank you Ms. Roberts for sharing this amazing read with all readers and soon they will be fans just like me.
This book starts within minutes of the ending of the first book of DeLaine Roberts Running Series. Which was great since Running To You ended in a cliff hanger. Alexandra has boarded her father’s jet for a quick round trip to Chicago to pack her things and come back to Grayson’s waiting arms; however the plane has been highjacked. Everyone Alexandra holds dear to her heart works with the authorities to help find her. After Alexandra has been rescued she and Grayson must navigate these new traumas and fears right along with resolving the trust issues that have plagued their relationship, but under it all there still is a deep love.
This book has the same easy reading vibe as Running To You. It can be read for a chapter or two and then put down and picked back up for a few more minutes of reading if that is all your day allows. Since it picks up where the other book left off it is not best suited as a stand-alone book, you should read Running To You first. Cooper still has fantastic banter with the characters in this book, and there is a fair amount of steamy scenes. One important new character was introduced, all other characters were introduced in the first book and minimal background was given for a few characters, most did not have any additional background given. This lent itself to a book that felt like an old friend. The relationships between characters are what make this book wonderful. Alexandra and Tara share a special bond that I found refreshing. I don’t want to share much as it would be a spoiler, however Tara is a great friend at a significant point in Alexandra’s life and it is a role I have rarely seen in a book I have read. Their deep conversation brought tears to my eyes. I applaud DeLaine Roberts for including the scene that so many authors would have bypassed.
Two Sides Of A Heartbeat is a great read if you like a love story that envelops you in a warm hug. I just smiled when I finished this book. It marks the ending of Alexandra’s search for love, no cliff hanger in this book! However there are some open story lines that I hope lead to the series continuing with a certain couple close to Alexandra. I was not disappointed with DeLaine Roberts’ newest book, and I look forward to reading more of her heartwarming stories in the future.
I was given a copy of this book from the author for my honest review.
This is Book Two of Ms. Roberts The Running Series. I started with book two, and from what I understand about the cliffhanger from book one, I think I was glad I did. I did have some confusion with characters in the first chapter or so, but quickly figured it out. For those who read the first novel it will be an easy transition.
This novel starts with a crash, and ends with a sigh. For readers of the first book it is a continuation of Running to You, exactly where it left off. Alexandra Morrison and Grayson Brooks are engaged, and can't wait to be married. They have the added joy of finding out Alexandra is pregnant, although she has early difficulties with the pregnancy. It is a continuing love story, with an amazing destination wedding that would be every brides dream.
The bumps in the road are still there, some more difficult than others, but the bottom line is always about their love for each other. I especially liked Alexandra's quote from her Mom. "The heart gives life to the body every time it beats, filling the tired blood with oxygen . It's like each heartbeat was a fresh start, a do-over."
I especially recommend this to readers of Running to You, and readers who like a little danger before their happy ending.
I received this novel from NetGalley for an honest review.
Two Side of a Heartbeat is the second installment in DeLaine Roberts’ The Running series. It continues to follow the love story of Alexandra and Grayson. The book picks up exactly where the book one left off. DeLaine had my heart racing from page one where you find Alexandra in a life and death situation with an outcome that impacts the entire cast.
In book two we also get a closer look at the intimacy between the two main characters, as well as mourning, pain, bliss, and anger. The story addresses the issues of loss, cheating, and relationships. I found myself laughing, grieving, and even wanting to knock Grayson upside his head as I read.
DeLaine did another exemplary job of weaving together a story that pulls you in, holds onto your heartstrings, and delivers in the end.
Another aspect I like about book two is the intrigue surrounding Harrison as a supporting role. I really liked his dynamic in book one. Now, in book two, you can see DeLaine is on her way to bringing his story to life.
OMG!!!!this was a series!!!! I enjoy this book....it was a FABULOUS ending to the Grayson and Alexandra saga. Delaine Roberts you did an amazing on job on BOOK TWO!!! I WILL FOREVER BE A FAN!!! The plot was amazing, PAGE TURNER...I COULDN'T put it down. I really ENJOY this book. i love how she told the story...Grayson and Sebastian mend their relationship. The loss of the child strengthened Grayson's and Alexandra's love for another.e i love that the book wasn't just happy endings....it was like looking at someone's ACTUAL life...their marriage was like any other marriage..it had its ups and downs. Copper was an amazing friend because he gave Alexandra amazing advice which she then made great choices. this book was just filled with amazing characters.
I WOULD LOVE TO READ ANOTHER....SEBASTIAN AND MEGAN'S STORY!!!!
DELAINE ROBERTS YOU OUT DID YOURSELF WITH THIS BOOK.
AGAIN I WILL FOREVER BE A FAN!!!
KEEP ON WRITING!!!
I READ THIS BOOK IN A MATTER OF HOURS...I SERIOUSLY COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN I NEED MORE!!!
I received a copy of this book from the author in place of an honest review.
I just thought the first book in this series was great. That is until I read this one. I wanted to know why Alex got kidnapped and what happens after that. I also hoped that Grayson and her were still on the same page and couldn't wait to be together. I know that everything changes after the kidnapping. Some I liked and others that made me cry. I also hoped that Harrison would find someone to love him.
The author did a wonderful job with the plot of this book. I know that something bad had to happen for everyone to appreciate what they had and to help heal some old demons. I just got so caught up in this story and couldn't put it down. This book made me laugh and cry. If you want to know why then you just have to read this book for yourself.
I am so hoping that the author will be writing another one to this series. I hope it doesn't end because there are still some things that are unanswered.
This is the second book of Alex and Grayson, picks up right from the ending of Running To You. Another great read by DeLaine. More twists and turns on their relationship. No cliffhanger on this book, yeah!Loved the cover and title, the story will explain more as you read.
Loved the continuation of Grayson & Alexandra's story. Such heartfelt emotion between these two characters. The author pulls you in and you experience the joy, heartache, and sorrow of the characters. Look forward to reading much more from this author.
I read this book right after I finished the first one thankfully! The first one ended in a huge cliffhanger and I'm happy to say the second one didn't.
However, that's about where my good views on this book ends. The only reason I read the second book was because I had an ARC of it. The dialogue in the book is very stunted- I hate when books don't use "real" conversation, no contractions used in the dialogue drives me crazy.
The cliffhanger from the first book was resolved quickly which was a good thing too. But after that I didn't feel there was much plot to the book. There were parts I liked but overall not enough to give it another star.
The first book seemed to have more of a plot, but still had issues too.
I received this ARC from Netgalley in return for an honest review.
I feel really bad leaving such a low review because Delaine gave me an advanced, free copy of the book. But I have to be honest.
I skimmed through 75% of this book. My whole reason for reading this book (aka the kidnapping) was done and over with 7% in. After that, it was literally all fluff.
Lots of sex and mind numbingly boring details of their every day life. I could not for the life of me get into it. I'm not sure if it was writing style, trying to stretch what could've been covered in one book into two, or just not connecting with the characters. Book 1 was pretty good, and the cliffhanger made me want to read Book 2. However, I will not be continuing with the series. Sorry, this book just did not do it for me.
A very easy book to read, and the beginning was just so great because it kicked in with the end of the first book, the cliff hanger. This book was interesting with the characters, the story and a very warmful love story. But we got more intimacy between the two peoples in this one. And a great ending, not such as the cliff hanger from the first book. So basically, an happy ending after tumultuous things happened to the couple during this book. But there were too many many steamy scenes and too many details so it was quite hard to move forward or keeping focus in this book. I will say I prefer the first book than this one.
Two Sides of a Heartbeat is the second installment of the Running series. It was better than the first book by far but I still had major issues with this book. I am going to review this book differently than I usually do. I am going to make a list and then give reasons for each. Likes: -much better than the first book -better dialogue -characters were not bad -plot was decent
As I had not read book 1 in this series, it took me a while to gel with the characters in this book. I think you definitely need to read book 1 first to understand what happens in book 2. It isn't till half way through book 2 that you start to want to know more especially when Grayson & Alex start having relationship issues (or so it seems). Really enjoyed the ending but wish Monica & Harrison had got together in Book 2 but maybe it might happen in Book 3. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
I was given this book by the other for an honest review. This was a great conclusion to Running to You. I loved the characters, the plot-hell of a good job!Alex and Greysen face down death, betrayal and life's horrible realities to make their love last.
I got this book as part of a bunch of books. I don't know how book one is, but this one felt so disjointed. Like I was thrown into the middle of a book instead of a sequel. Not my cup of tea.
I love this book and the whole series. It's a must read. Roberts is a great author and I have read all her books. If you like romance and little mystery then read all her books!!!
