A descendant of the original feudists, Kirk provides his unique insight in this first comprehensive examination of the Lincoln County Feud’s bitter blood battles. County records, rare photographs, and newspaper articles are used to give further insight into the origins and events of the quarrel. The legendary dispute comes alive through revealing profiles of the larger-than-life feudists drawn from interviews with living descendants of the families.
I really enjoyed this book. But, of course, I may be a little biased sense I grew up in the county where this book is placed in. I even went to school with some of the descendants of these people, and counted a McCoy as one of my closest friends.
I enjoyed the telling from both sides of the conflict, and (knowing the area) seeing that money truly is the root to all that is evil.
