You are deeper than your life shows, and you know it. You are more loving than your relationships allow, more brilliant than your career suggests. In your secret depth of being, you are infinite, creative, boundless, and utterly unable to press your full glory into the world. Or so it seems.

In Blue Truth, David Deida presents a treasury of skills and insights for uncovering and offering your true heart of purpose, passion, and unquenchable love. In part one, Deida shows you how to open as the entirety of the moment, feeling as deep inside and as far outside as you can, for as long as now opens. In part two, he reveals how to walk this path in the wilderness of intimate relationship, illuminating the art and play of sexual gifting, including how to expertly navigate the tangle of anger, jealousy, fear, lust, and much, much more.

In June 2006, Blue Truth was named by Spirituality & Health magazine as one of the Best Spiritual Books of 2005, in the Personal Growth category.

Every once in a while a book comes along that shakes up your perspective, and provides deep insights into your past and present. This is one of those books. It showed up out of nowhere, at a time when I'd been struggling with a sense of stagnancy with my craft, and with the path I've chosen through life. It shone a fresh light on past experiences that I had been unsuccessfully trying to figure out. And it points the way to new depth in my work and life. It's the sort of book you read with a big knot in your stomach, and sometimes a choked feeling of nausea in your throat, because the stuff it's pointing to is so viscerally true. The author draws on some of the most practical aspects of Buddhist philosophy, but this is not a "new age" book. There's no fluff or overblown theories about afterlives or pantheons of gods. Just practical deep truths capable of kicking holes in your most closely held illusions — if you're honest enough to reflect on them.

As far as "self help" books go, this one is pretty good. An old lover recommended this book to me and since I respect his professional & personal opinion I decided that I should read it. I felt that it had a lot of great Advice for both women and men. Some highlights from the book are:

" Whatever you pay attention to, right now, you begin to look like. Whatever yon have spent time attending to in the past, You already look like," that's pretty profound. I have always believed that what energies you project is what you get back and this chapter made me realize that the looks & body language we project does that as well. this book is full of tidbits like that. I think everyone should read it because if you go in with an open mind, you may learn something about yourself.

A spiritual philosophy on openness of the heart which pay homage to "naked awareness", the main practice in the Dzogchen tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. Great insight on masculine versus feminine heart. The feminine is light, which feel as love and shines as all life. The masculine is consciousness, which is embodies as deep and pervading presence. If your sexual essence is more masculine, then your heart mostly yearns by a desire to be free. If your essence is more feminine, then your heart mostly yearns for love. Personally, think this book is great guide to spiritual awakening in mind, body, and heart.

This is a book that many years ago I would've probably stop reading and qualified as pure BS. And, although it was still difficult to embrace some of its ideas, I get it.

I understand that it's about being open-minded. If you are looking for ways to grow spiritually without necessarily it being attached to a particular religion, this might be a good book for you.

This book will likely help you start building more meaningful relationships and be empathetic with the POVs of others.

FLow: 4/5, it can sometimes be tough to read as the pages might feel as "more of the same thing".

Actionability: 3/5, there are not many how-to or step-by-step instructions.

Mindset: 5/5, this book will help you expand your mind and spirit.

Some Of My Highlights:

"If you are waiting for anything in order to live and love without holding back, then you suffer."

"The way love moves you is your true destiny... Your true destiny unfolds freely when you live every moment open and shine as an offering of love."

"Fear is the opposite of love."

"One way or another, you come to face the truth: Everything you acquire is eventually lost."

"Your effort to avoid pain is as natural as pain itself."

"Pleasure and pain come and go, and there is only so much you can do about it. To be born is to be guaranteed some amount of enjoyment, discomfort, and certain death."

"To enjoy intimacy is to expose your heart to deep sharing as well as to the unloving moments of others."

"In any case, you can only do your best. The rest is out of your hands."

"When you feel trapped by life, take it as a sign that you are cliched within the confines of your own "No". You are refusing some experience, resisting some person, or trying to avoid some feeling."

"Whatever you pay attention to, right now, you begin to look like... Where you put your attention defines how you look and feel."

"You are afraid of poverty so you work to earn money. You are afraid of loneliness so you try to secure intimacy. You are afraid of relaxing without a future so you think, and think, and think."

"Many of your eating patterns are based on stress, loneliness, and hurt, as well as routines dictated by your schedule."

To the masculine lover – “Without a deep sense of purpose to direct your daily life, you will be directed by externals-financial need, your children’s needs, your lover’s needs-and you will begin to blame them for your lack of fulfillment. You will feel trapped in obligations, and your resentments will show. You will hold back in your relationships with your lover and family, not really wanting to be there, unsure what else to do, mired in ambiguity, guilt, and anger. Your actions will lack integrity and follow-through. Your feminine lover won’t be able to trust you in everyday life or open to you sexually.” Pg 121

It was a good experience neither more nor less, I like the Idea of opening and deeping in things, and I liked these quotes too;
"Everything you do right now ripples outward and affects everyone. Your posture can shine your heart or transmit anxiety. Your breath can radiate love or muddy the room in depression. Your glance can awaken joy. Your words can inspire freedom. Your every act can open hearts and minds."

"springs open from the depths of your heart."

What I didn't like is that the Author is repeating himself in every single chapter and story, it could have been shorter than this. Also, not everything is supposed to be opened to the world, there's things that persons MUST keep them for themselves.
there's times we should stay with ourselves,
loving ourselves starts from us not from the others, it's an act not a re-act.

What an incredible and ground breaking book! David is masterful in his writing and a visionary in matters of the heart. How can Seekers begin to understand their love relationships as an expression of divine love? David Deida will put you on the express lane to a very refreshing perspective of how love is God intertwined in your beloved. If you are a man, also read Deida's book, "The Way of the Superior Man" and find out what women really want! If you are a woman, read "Dear Lover". All of Deida's books are in my permanent book collection.

The book is all about being open, but I was never clear what "open" was supposed to mean. There was this wandering central metaphor.

Nothing too new for me but some interesting phrases:

My fav quotes (not a review):
-Page 53 |"Jealousy points to your false hopes of fulfillment."
-Page 89 |"In deep embrace and with a smile of gratitude: He: “I am consciousness, and you are mine, my bright bitch.”"
-Page 118 "The masculine heart yearns not so much for love as for freedom. The masculine heart dreams not of swelling in fullness but of finally being free, liberated from constraints. One day, if you work hard enough, your burdens will diminish. You will have enough money to do what you want. You will figure out a grand theory and the problems will be solved. You will finish your projects and no longer be constrained by obligation."
-Page 119 "The feminine heart is embroiled in the never-ending drama of love and its lack: Yes I am loved, no I am not loved, yes I am loved, no I am not loved..."
-Page 119 "The masculine heart is riveted by the illusion of working toward freedom: I am succeeding, I am failing, I am succeeding, I am failing..."

I really enjoy reading what David Deida has to say about living a life completely open and present in all moments. This book was a great reminder to not get lost in negativity or the things I don't have, yet. All while adding new ways and avenues of thinking and feeling. I've used some of the ideas/practices in this book and I can say that they have led to a more positive and fulfilling feeling in my life. As I read through what David has to say about love and sex, I was able to reflect and relate to past problems that I am guilty of creating or manifesting in relationships. I feel like I am able to grow beyond those past mistakes and able to recognize when I am retreating into myself and not being fully open to the world.

I don't think I've ever given a book 1 star on here, but here we are. This repetitive, over simplifying women, resembling the writings of an untrained 9th grader book is complete trash. I'm thankful I bought it from a used bookstore, where I will gladly be donating it back. If I read the words "breathe, deep/deeply, or lover" one. more. time, I was going to scream. I don't recommend this one at all. And if you want to understand how to treat a woman and fulfill her needs, please, do not take this advice. Speaking from a woman's perspective, we will be undoubtedly disappointed.

WOW. I didn't expect this. I really didn't. What a bomb of profoundly deep, profoundly practical spiritual wisdom. I think I've never read a book that spoke so directly to my heart. Held by a web spun by all the essential paradigms that are currently vibrating within me: Openness, Love, Truth, authenticity, presence, expansion, depth, surrender, trust, intimacy, connection, wholeness, freedom, etc... And all of it expressed in such a beautiful divine simplicity. Wow. A book for life. Gratitude.

A book of Tantric wisdom

Many insights that will leave most restless, some inspired and others just wondering what it all means.
If you are into Tantra and sexuality, then this book is a must

Il suo concetto di 'femminilità' immobile ed oggettificata farebbe venire voglia a qualsiasi femmina di lanciare il libro in testa all'autore. Nonostante questo, sono presenti nel libro idee originali e valide che sono sicura mi saranno utili.

The book is always speaking about oppeness without explaining how to achieve it. generally it is not as good as "the way of the superior man" and only 4-5 chapters are worth reading

A verdade azul.

Blue Truth

I received plenty of food for thought from this book. The relatively short chapters are perfect for consuming one at a time, providing the reader with opportunities to digest before beginning the next.
