Okay sooooo, Jackson determines he can sense a submissive desire in the unsuspecting Kyla, and proceeds to take her to his home for a well deserved punishment (because background story).
When Kyla proceeds to orgasms without permission, she's told she deserves a punishment. Ummmm, what about that first one they were supposedly working on? No reason to manufacture another excuse.
So as a newbie to bdsm, Kyla is strapped to a spanking bench, butt plug inserted, large dildo used, ball gag, flogged...all while handling it like the pro she is. Oh, wait...hmmm. Well she's just the perfect natural. Jackson's punishment immediately cured her of past emotional abuse and she's going to be just fine now. He has found the woman for him and they live happily ever after.
The end.

Mastering Kyla is a wonderfully sweet story about a woman finding her true self. After being left at the alter by her fiancé, Kyla runs into a friend from college. He seduces her and introduces her to submission.
Jackson is perfect. He’s too perfect. The man has no flaws! We should all be so lucky to find a man like Jackson.
Kyla is sweet, a little too innocent and just what Jackson needs, just like Jackson is what Kyla needs. These two are actually perfect for each other.
This is a pretty short story, only around 50 pages. While it is very short, it’s packed with a lot emotion and quite a bit of hot and steamy sex. As usual with short stories, my biggest complaint is the lack of character development. While I got a pretty good feel for Kyla, I had a harder time getting a feel for Jackson. On the surface he seemed perfect. But no matter how perfect he felt, I couldn’t figure out what drove him. Why he was the way he was. Even lacking that development, it was a good story!

This novella is a great read. It's engaging and erotic with great chemistry between the unsuspecting couple. There is amazing, hot and heavy sex between the characters that gives rise to an awakening and personal growth of Kyla. Not to give too much away, I have to say I'd meet Jackson in a bar any day...or out the back of one! :) The story spans a few months and thus gives the reader a greater insight to their relationship; a relationship, I was cheering for all along!
Aubrey has hit this one out of the park. In such a short time, the characters come to life and their story captivates. She has perfected the method of fitting a completed story into the novella mold, making sure the reader is not left feeling rushed or cheated out of any of the story.
I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of Aubrey's work. I see more great things to come!

Kyla was engaged to marry Michael. Jackson was to be the best man, but Michael left her at the alter. Still heart broken, Kyla runs into Jackson at a bar & the electricity between the two of them can't be stopped. The two of them explore each other and Jackson introduces Kyla to BDSM. Jackson ends up being just what Kyla needed to get over Michael.
