Alex Eviston has been monitoring 1989 for over five years. Her job as a U.S. Temporal Inspector is to report any aberrations in history. But she wakes up one morning to find time has shifted. The Germans manipulated the past so that World War II ended in their favor and America is under Nazi control.
Now Alex must do more than monitor time, she has to correct history. But she’s being hunted by Nazis where ever she goes. She’ll have to make friends in odd places and find strength within herself if she’s to win the war and make sure that the government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
I just finished reading Assignment 1989 The Time Travel Wars and truly loved it! It was a great story, full of twist and turns that I did not expect and I was drawn in from the first page. I was born and raised in Ohio and it was cool to have so many local places and points of interest tied into the book. Thank you Wal, for a very entertaining read. I look forward to reading Revolution 1990 and already have my copy of the book. I am anticipating another great read.
Sci-Fi heroines are rare and this one, Alex Eviston, is as human and vulnerable as she is tough and smart. Three cheers to Wal Ozello for this action packed journey into theoretical physics and the fantastic character who leads it!
The author, Wal Ozello, is my cousin. I purchased the Kindle version of Assignment 1989. It is a very good book. The plot is strong, the story moves quickly and the characters are well-developed. It is a fun book that I highly recommend. It is my opinion that time travel stories are either really good (12 Monkeys, Terminator and X-Men: Days of Future Past) or really bad. Assignment 1989 fits into the really good category. The characters are well-developed and believable. The main character, Alex, is strong, determined, brave and quick thinking. She reminds me of Ripley from the Alien movies and Sarah Conner from Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Since the story takes place in 1989, there are a number of 1980’s reference, but it is not over done. The references are enjoyable and either help advance the story or build the characters. I highly recommend this book for all sci-fi fans. It is action packed, funny, inspirational and a good solid read.
