Another mystery revolving human trafficking, yet this one will totally blow your mind with all those bone-chilling twists and turns and some hardcore real pain. Behind the Facade by Victoria Heap, Rebecca Heap is awesome, literally mind-blowing. And all young girls must read it definitely.

Katherine has a perfect life until one day her so called perfect life turns into a nightmare when she gets kidnapped by a terrorist. After few years, she once again falls in life with a man called Michael, who's hiding some deadly terrible secrets. And she figures out how love can betray people so badly. The twisting climax will make you remember this book for quite a long time.

The characters were completely well-developed. The plot was totally engaging. The writing of this book was so amazing, that it'll keep the readers hooked on till its last pages. So guys get this book now, and see how this book grips you from the beginning.

Thanks to the author, Rebecca Heap for providing me with a copy of her book in return for an honest review.

Katherine Pearson (Kate) and her fiancé are on their way to a party when Robert, her fiancé, needs to take a detour to his office to pick something up. After waiting for quite a while, Kate gets out of the car and goes to the building to see what is taking him so long. There she encounters Sean who kidnaps her.

Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. I wanted to quit several times but I stayed with it and for that I will deliver 3 stars. I got confused with the backtracking and the whole style of writing in general was not to my taste. Even after reading it I felt somewhat lost on some of the details and didn't like the ending at all. I guess some would say it was a HEA (Happily Ever After) but I don't.

Behind the Facade, Victoria Heap, Rebecca Heap
Genre: Romantic suspense
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
I’m a lover of romance novels especially those which have some extra to add, like suspense, so jumped at the chance to review this having been tempted by the amazon sample.
I found this a bit confusing to begin though as we meet Brenna, then whip forward in time to meet Sean and Katherine. Just when I'm into that part it switches again...and then moves forward to current time. Although each part was interesting and certainly kept up the suspense element, I couldn’t seem to relate them to each other. About a third of the way through though I began to connect the dots, and see just where the story was going. Its fast paced and at times quite harrowing, not graphically but thinking just what is going on.
Katherine’s mum died when she was young, and its just been her and her father since then. Its clear he adores her and would do anything for her, and she for hm. The face he shows her and the rest of the world though is very different from the greedy, calculating man behind the sexual enterprise that is so devastating to so many lives. Clearly he’s a very clever man, and has so far managed to hide this side of his business completely. Sebastian, his right hand man in the day to day side, seems to be the only person that bridges the two businesses, the sexual exploitation one and the upfront, very respectable elite car one. He’s one of those people who make you skin crawl just reading about them, and though he’s always circumspect Katherine doesn’t feel comfortable in his company. After her kidnap she suffers memory loss about much of the events, until her dad takes on a new business partner, hoping to expand into the USA, and odd things prick at her mind, prompting a few confused, hazy recollections. When she’s finally confronted with the truth it’s shattering to her, and brings her and the man she’s fallen in love with into a very real danger, where they may get seriously injured or killed.
Its a great read, even though I started off feeling confused. I’m not sure how else that can be done though, so if like me you find it puzzling linking the events just carry on – all will come clear very soon. There’s a huge bombshell in store too, which I didn’t see coming, really took me by surprise. Very often as the story continues its easy to read between the lines and see what’s about to happen, but this had me totally bamboozled til the big reveal. Gobsmacked me, but then it made so much sense!! There’s a brief epilogue bringing us totally up to date. I like those. Its only a few pages, and that’s all I need. I just like to know once the action over, the dust has settled what happens to the people afterwards.

This is a complex story about deception, girls being sold as sex slaves, a death, a hostage situation, a business man, and his daughter.

Having given the book three stars I thought the story plot was extremely good, however the style of writing was not quite to my taste. I felt a little confused reading the book as something was missing in the writing, which I think may be due to the fact two sisters co wrote the book and I think each has a different style.

There are many twists and turns to the storyline which makes you want to read more and even though you understand what is happening with the young girls being lured into modelling only to be sold as commodities, you feel there is more yet to come. It is a book you cannot put down.

I think that the talent in the Heap twins who co-wrote this book lies in their concept of storytelling. I would love to see them write separately using their own unique talent.

As a first book it is excellent.

Behind the Facade
by Victoria Heap, Rebecca Heap

Kidnapping, Torture, Murder, Human Trafficing, Dual Identies and Betrayal all wrapped into one!
I try not to write a review using spoilers. If I used spoilers you would not really need to read the story. You probably would not buy the book if you knew everything.
This is a well written novel with a good plot. Once you pick it up you don't want to put it down. The story takes you into the lives of the characters with loads of emotion. It covers a span of about 10 years over all but the last in one are fell swoop. The conclusion is wht you may have hoped for but neve seemed to come.
This is a novel that should be on your MUST READ list. Get it now so you don't forget.
Good job Victoria and Rebecca.

'Behind the Facade' was one of those books that pulled me in and didn't let go. Full of betrayal, unbelievable and terrifying 'all too real' possibilities. The storyline was brought to life in an intriguing way. The characters ranged from despicable to innocent. Katie was quite feisty. I loved her spunk. Sean, even though he went about exacting revenge in a not so nice way, still had my vote in the why and the how. I truly loved the ending. A great add to your tbr list.

Review:

I’m having a hard time figuring out a rating for this book. While I do like some things about it other things I didn’t but it may just be my preference ? I will begin with my likes…. The book started off great and had me hooked from the first chapter. I started off liking Kate, she had real grit while she was kidnapped. After that the book kinda took a turn for me and just seemed a bit all over the place for me and I didn’t really care for Kate after. The ending was ok. I kinda feel like Kate went through a lot and kinda should have had a better ending. Overall I will say I will always support Authors and this is no way means I wouldn’t try another of their books. ❤️I thank you for asking me to review.

Michael doesn’t fall in love.

Not after what happened to him.
He has to resist.
If Kate knew the secret he was hiding...
When her memory starts returning and things turn dangerous, all he wants to do is protect her.

But he could be the one to destroy them both.

This can be read as a standalone but, if you haven't already, and want to discover more about the events prior to "Dark Secrets," please see our prequel novella "Dark Betrayal," available for FREE on multiple platforms: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

This novel had some very good suspenseful parts, an interesting topic (human trafficking) and a strange love story.
But the order in witch the story is told is unnecessarily chaotic. In this case a chronological order would have been the better choice.
The characters left me wondering if anybody coud behave like that and I'm not talking about the head of the trafficking network. He was quite believable.
