Wow, what a ride. Let’s start with the cover. It’s amazing, and the cover alone made me want to check out this book, then it sounded very interesting, so here I am, after reading this amazing book, with all sorts of emotions running through me. One of them is a little mad, because the biggest cliffhanger EVER!! That’s why; I need to know what happens NOW!! I really need book 2. I hope its out soon.

All it took to get me reading this book late into the night, then putting off other work to finish today, was reading the prologue. That’s it!! It’s that good.

Now I will say , this book is meant for mature readers, as it has pretty intense sex scenes, and I mean a lot of them, and it had me a bit uncomfortable at times, but if you have read any of my review before, you will know I am not one of those people who need a lot of steam in my books, not to that graphic point anyway. But I will say, all that steam was tastefully done though, so really it worked out ok. The story was so great on its own, that I could easily look past a few of the more uncomfortable parts. Lol.

I really enjoyed the different points of view from Lincoln and Lexia. I really loved the mystery around Lexia too, and Lincoln, and I am not spoiling that for you.

Here is some great parts I wanted to share, non spoiler:

“Not going to invite me in?”
“Ha! I’m sure my dad would really approve, seeing me walk in the house with a grown man covered in sweat. I’m quite certain he won’t approve of you!”
“I can pull off harmless!”
That set Lexia off into a fit of giggles and she turned to walk away. “Sure you can. Later, Linc.”
“Later, Lex,” he laughed.

Here is another one:

He waited to see what she’d do next but she just stared at him with fire burning in her eyes, so Lincoln placed his hand on her exposed skin running it up and around the back of her neck. He pulled her upright, pressing his body against hers. She sucked in a breath, eyes widening and her breaths coming out in shallow pants. He slowly lowered his head not taking his eyes from hers and softly brushed his lips across hers. Fire burned through him and she moaned softly opening her month for him. He pressed his lips to hers again and began to deepen the kiss when a howl cut through his senses and he shot upright

There are many more steamy parts, that was a mellow one, lol.

This book just is great, and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes the paranormal like I do, for mature readers.

5 huge mega stars out of 5 for me!

I was provided a copy of this book for my honest review.

Lexia had a pretty normal life until a couple of vamps decided to take her down, little did they or she know that she has the power to rip them to shreds. After that little incident more supernatural creatures start to come after and just the same she would take them down. Her life just seemed to get going down, one thing after another. Now there's a rift forming between her father and a panther keeps stalking her. The only thing that starts to look up is a little relationship that she is forming between her and a hott new guy with golden eyes. Theres something off between this guy and her but she wants to see where this would take her. When things start to hit its lowest point he maybe the only person who she trusts to help her in this crazy time.

description

This GIF pretty much sums up my reactions towards the ending of this book. I should've know when I noticed it said Deadwood Hunter Series One. Arg. I hate cliffhangers. I have to know what happens next. As of right now I'm looking to see when the next book comes out. See this is the dark side of getting an arc. Come across an awesome book like this ahead of time and have to wait a very long time for the next book to come out. :-(

I loved this book. Only books that I love and have a strong reaction to are honored with a GIF because sometimes words aren't enough and I'm not always great with words. All you need to read is the prologue and you'll be stuck. I loved that it had a great mix of mystery, action and steamy scenes for the reader to want more. I loved how realistic Lexia felt. I loved how strong Lexia was, she was brave and loyal. When her best friend was in trouble she went in to save her.

I'm curious to see what happens next!

Highly recommend! If you love Kelley Armstrong's books you'll be interested in this book.

This Debut novel was provided too me by the author for my honest review and I have to say it rocked my reader...

I read it with baited breathe, starry eyes, and blood pumping at many a scenes. It hooked me from within the first pages.

I enjoy a shifter romance – filled with exhilarating and powerful connections, lust, love and smoking hot scenes. This book did not disappoint. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and the ending I just wanted to pull my hair out of frustration, and needing book two. LIKE NOW!!! Sob sob……

Rachel has jam packed this story will lots of action, adventure, mystery, heartbreak, love and new discoveries and for those who like their reads hot – there are many loving moments that will have you panting …

There were some holly hotness – and well written sexy – smoking passioate scenes, that will not only have your panties in a twist but have you purring along with that Black Panther. ** purrrrrrrrrrrr**
So for all those like some tango within their reads this will please you ! ** blushes**

We follow Lexia on a journey of discovery – we see her coming to terms with what is inside of her and at times trying to take over, but Lexia is fighting the darkness that wants to consume her.

However at times – it’s like a raging river, just wanting to pour through her blood. Take over – consume her body and her soul. We see her fighting her calling many a times. But also see it be unleashed and let me tell you she kicked some serious arse !

The blood running in her veins is strong – determined and vengeful , at times for all the right reasons to protect the ones she loves... We see many heartbreaking moments for Lexia and I have to say I felt for her at the loss of a loved one. Her normal life seems not so dull and boring compared to the life and supernatural beings, she never knew existed before.

The plot was fast paced, easily flowed and was well put forth. The story was well written, dialogues all ran smoothly and continued on smoothly.

Rachel effectively created a great balance within the story – all her secondary characters given their own places within the story and also giving us a laugh or two along the way.

We were given mystery and mayhem – secrets were revealed. And the ending doesn’t get me started... I eagerly await the next instalment and to see where this new shifter blends in. (( Intrigued ))
I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Lexia and Linc. Many a times, I wanted to pet his velveteen coat, listen to him purrrrrr… sigh - The author has given us a hero – hotty to swoon after, one whom loves dearly and protecs without thought.

We are shown depth into the characters along the way – and definition into whom they are. This I like to see in a read, filled with emtion so that as a reader I can feel within the pages.
The descriptions were well fleshed out , making it a hot, action packed read on many occasions.

Unique filled action packed story, filled with love, loss and betrayl.

Heart-wrenching, romantic, steamy and simply unputtable-down.

Fantastic first book in the series and I eagerly await more.

Mrs Rachel M.Raithby, we need to talk! What kind of ending is this?

I think if I would say: "I really liked the book, read it!" would be enough. But I do not think that would be fair ... to the author or to the tour. So, again, I have to find a way to tell you some things I liked (with no spoilers - here's one of the challenges), but remember what I told you ¬ (especially if the rows below will not convince you – damn inspiration!): "I really liked the book, read it!"

The action starts immediately. There are no downtimes or unnecessary introductions. That does not mean that they will be continuously fighting , but that everything that happens is well connected, and flow smoothly and harmoniously. The reader will get the same "treatment" as the heroine, being brought into action just as Lexia is thrown in the midst of changes. Changes about she knows nothing and have the "gift" to save her in the same measure that they threaten her life. I liked how the author played Lexie’s inner struggle on the one hand to understand the changes she’s going through and put her in terrifying situations, and on the other to not give in to the pleasure to kill. (Do not worry, she is not a vampire, nor other supernatural being… all these creatures seem to become her victims ... well, not all of them ...). And if that is hard, it will become even harder when she has to do it alone and when she does not know anymore what the only person she trusts and was close to her and could help her thinks.

In fact, the situation will become more puzzling not only because she will become the prey of many, but also because she will be chased for revenge. Even if he can be a cold-blood killer, searching for an optimum moment and her weak points to take her out easier, Lincoln will start to be intrigued by "Little Wildcat". And from here what were for him black and white will become a lot of shades of gray. From the same moment starts a game of seduction, but also a cat and mouse game in which new, contradictory feelings and assumed risks spices the romance that we all expected. I think you'll like this.

When everything is resolved between the two of them, the major problem appears and everything was so far looks like a trifle. The Lexia’s inner struggle that she has to bear gets new values and that will be much harder for her to prevail. The good part is that everything that could destroy her like a human, rational being remain the same that will help her in the fight against the new discovered enemies. But only if she will find a way to control and she will have the power to not give in to this changes.

Love, friendship, the life of everyone involved (and more) can be easily lost. No sacrifice seems to be too great, and the assumed risks lead to an ending that will leave you not only on the edge, but already with a foot over. It will be a long wait for the second book.

If you think that all this looks (too) familiar, do not worry! The author has done a good job and she has a fresh style, originality and talent to not give you the impression that you re-read another book. Remember what I said at the beginning: "I really liked the book, read it!"

I absolutely hate giving a bad review. In fact, this will only be my second but I just couldn’t finish this book. In fact, after reading 30% of the book I returned it for a refund. So, where do I start?

Ok, before I go into the negatives let me say that the idea behind the book was good. It had a lot of potential and could have truly been a gripping story but as I have found, oftentimes it really is all about the execution.

First of all, the formatting was all over the place and words were either repeated or were missing altogether. I had a very difficult time trying to decipher what the characters were saying because sometimes almost complete sentences were missing!! I bought a book of fiction. If I wanted a puzzle book, I would’ve bought one!! I am absolutely appalled with the editing or really the lack thereof. When I purchase a book I expect it to be at least half-way grammatically correct. I also agree with another reviewer who mentioned that the author used “whilst” a lot, although that didn’t really bother me much.

Then there’s Lexia. She’s supposed to be 19 but behaves like a 12 year old. I understand that she’s just coming into her powers and has nobody to guide her but flying off the handle at the drop of a hat or getting drunk and almost doing the nasty with a stranger??? She misses classes and lies to her father about attending them and do you want to guess where he works? Yep, her school! Her idea of dealing with her powers is to go clubbing, getting drunk, and retail therapy. She works as a waitress at a local diner. Just where is she getting the money for all this?? 30% into the book I came to the conclusion that I just couldn’t suffer through one more page of her bipolar behavior.

Now Lincoln’s character had potential but I quickly realized that his POV read almost exactly like Lexia’s. I didn’t feel like he really had a “voice” of his own in the book and that totally ruined it for me. Lincoln is supposed to be 23 and since his voice is almost the same as Lexia’s, he comes off as a 12 year old as well. Sigh....

Finally, let me address the whole dual POV aspect in this book. I love books that have dual POVs because they give depth to the characters. In this book figuring out whose POV I was reading was a total nightmare. Instead of the POVs being separated by chapters or even their names, they would just go to the next paragraph. So, one paragraph you may be reading Lexia’s POV and in the next it would be Lincoln’s POV. Or would it? I don’t know because it was so confusing!

I know this book received a lot of positive reviews (which is why I purchased it) but please be careful. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Get a sample of the book first. If you still like the way the story unfolds in the first few chapters then....I hope you enjoy the rest of the book. If you barely manage to finish the sample then…..you’re welcome. ;)

***Guest Review From Amy Conley For The Nerd Girl Page***

Lexia thought she was normal little does she know she's anything but and her world is about to change forever..

Lincoln has spent his entire life moving place to place on the run seeking revenge...

After sneaking out to attend a party Lexia never expected to be attacked by vampires much less to be able to kill them by herself with her own hands now she finds herself not being able to escape the events that happened on that night and having to pretend everything is fine around her friends and family.. And then she meets Lincoln "Linc" and she is drawn to him so badly and everything comes crashing down around them and secrets come spilling out.. Their lives are about to be forever changed...

My Review:
The book had an exciting start but about halfway through it lost it's direction a little bit we go from reading how Lexia isn't what she appears to be and all these non explainable things start happening to her she has super human strength and rapid healing which leaves you wondering just what the heck is going on and thats where things seem to be put on hold as it switches to another part of the story where Lexia is confronted by a black panther who wants to fight and kill her..
For me the book was at its best near the end that's where things pick up again and all heck breaks loose lots of delicious action going on .. by this point we've learned Lexia is a halfing and a hunter she was made to destroy mankind not save them, her mom who Lexia thought left her and her dad at a young age is back and wants to take Lexia away and use her as a killing machine, and the biggest shocker of all is when the hunters that are after Lexia hurt her panther he shifts and Lexia finds out who he really is (OMG you will never believe who it is!!! total jaw dropping moment)
I enjoyed the mystery the author presented us with in this book and the adrenaline pumping, kick butt scenes (that was AWESOME!!! Lexia is a kick a** fighter!!!) and the ending had me in tears I wasn't ready to see one of the main characters die.. (better have the tissues handy for that one!!)
There were a few places in the book that could use improvement but overall it's a good book...

I was given this early release copy by the author for an honest review and.....I freakin loved it!!!
This is Rachel Raithby's debut book, and it really seems like she's been writing for years; it was that good!

Lexia seems like your normal/basic teenager that's about to graduate, until 3 vampires corner and attack her; she knows her life is over then from out of nowhere she realizes that she has these 'Superhuman Traits' and is able to defeat them with her bare hands. Off in the distance, a shifter-panther named Lincoln watches and can't believe what he's seeing. A Hunter.... Who's trained to kill off his kind.. He wants to kill her, but he wants to learn a little bit about her first so he starts hanging around, pretending to be passing thru town. What he wasn't expecting was for Lexia to be so alive, so to speak, you'll know what I mean when you read his meaning for her, and he falls for her.

“He smiled at her but there was nothing friendly about it, the kind of smile that whispered of danger and excitement.”

The chemistry that these two have for each other is OHMIGOD!!! It was pretty hot! Like...Really hot! I was not expecting that at all, reading along, reading, reading....and whoa...WHOA!!! I loved it! :) I liked Lexia's Best friend Alice as well, hopefully we'll see more of her in the next book since she's now a huge part of Lex's and Linc's supernatural world.

I really loved how Ms. Raithby had Lincoln able to shift at will, and he could become part panther, instead of full on panther. For instance, his claws would rip thru his fingertips so he could climb as human form, etc... That was pretty neat and different, also loved how he would light up all over when he did shift. When Lexia would go in 'Hunter Mode' I swear, I could picture her becoming more buff, taller, faster, just deathly with her eyes blazing yellow. She described the fight scenes very well, I could picture them all fighting in my head like watching a movie.. Let's just say that I hope Lexia's evil B**** mother gets what she deserves, HA!

Rachel's writing is very fresh and fun,
Can't wait for the next installment to this great series!!!!

I loved this book! First let me start off by saying why I loved this book. It was a unique, with an amazing story line, and I love the character. The characters make the story perfect, love Lexia and watch her handle the changes of her life, and let’s not forget Lincoln who helps her and basically catches her and to find what I mean you’re just going have to read the book. I don’t think anyone would be disappointed with this book has romance, action, a little mystery as you join the characters on their journey to find the truth and about each other. The style of writing the author wrote this book is what I really like because it told the story very well gave you the sense that you were with the Lexia and feeling her strong emotions come off the page as your reading. Also liked how the author at time would give us Lincoln’s point of view to understand him more, and of course love him. What I really love was that the author created a new world and book for me to get lost in. Just sucked me right in from the first words, wanting to know more of what was going to happen, love romance and action together but throw some paranormal in it with creatures of the night and I am a sucker.
So I give this book five big stars, because it was an amazing read, that I could get lost in. The story has romance, action, and of course paranormal. With some twist of course that make unique so if you like all that you will love this book like I did and now I’m anxiously waiting for the next one in the series. I need to know what happens! Need more of the characters, especially Lincoln, he is such a great character and Lexia to with her strength, I like reading about a strong powerful chick that can hold her own. Fans of paranormal will love to get lost in this book is all I’m saying, so grab it up.
I received this book from LoP in exchange for my honest review.

My Review:
The author writes a book that has plenty of action, drama and is fast paced. The plot flows throughout and from the beginning to the end you are pulled into Lexia’s world and leave you wanting more…
Spoiler:
From the first page you learn that Lexia’s world her turned upside down when vampires are trying to kill her. Lexia is a young girl who learns she is not what she thought she was and that not everything is at appears to be. Lexia has no clue what is happening to her and why. She has no idea who she can trust.
Throughout the book you learn more about Lexia and what she really is. Lexia learns her life is not and never has been what she thought it was. From the beginning of the book Lexia is confronted by vampires, a wolf, a black panther, hunters and even her own mother.
Lexia meets a handsome man named Lincoln (Linc to his friends) and she is in many ways scared of him but intrigued by him. What she doesn’t know he is there to actually kill her and her “pretty panther”. Emotional ties begin to form between the two. Will he be her downfall or will he be her savior? Can she learn to trust him? Is there anyone she can trust? Only time will tell.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves action, dram and paranormal. Overall it is and great book and it leaves you wanting more… I cannot wait for the next in the series.

I have had the honour to read the first draft, and I am looking forward to reading the final version
And book two! So hurry up Rachel and finish it I want to carry on reading Lexia and Lincoln's continuing story :)

UPDATE: 31.03.15

I have finished this series - Yes Rachels Final in the Trilogy released today - Rachel M RaithbyHolocaust

This series was the first that the Author has published. Lexia was a bit of an unusual character, a little older than her peers, she thought she was a normal girl and looked forward to graduating and planning her future with her BFF Alice.

But life as most of us find out never goes to plan!

Lexia is attacked and from that moment on she's on a path to find out who she really is.

On her way to finding that answer she meets Lincoln... Tall Dark Mysterious - she finds herself drawn to him even though her gut says he has a dark and dangerous vibe to him.

We all like the bad boys, but Linc's not bad, he is just very wary of who and what Lexia is.

Join them both on a wild ride to that answer.

and lucky for you - you can read books 2 and 3 too - no waiting.

This book was a refreshing, especially its plot; something I haven’t read and I liked it a lot. It held my attention throughout the whole book because I wanted to know what’s behind all the secrets. I wanted to know what Lexia’s dad knew and didn’t tell her, why she’s so different and what the big deal with her mother really was.

The author did a great job keeping the reader entertained; it had some pretty steamy scenes in it but the PRN factor was more present, which I loved! She put some great twists and action pact scenes in it and I couldn’t stop reading.

Introducing Lincoln, the hot Black Panther, was a great mix-up. I loved his character a lot and he made the book even more interesting, reading his pov gave me a better idea why he ‘hates’ hunters…and also why he couldn’t hate lexia.

The ending was a bit strange and I was shocked it ended this way…I just hope it was all for the show and Linc is ok, otherwise I won’t read the 2nd book.
If I’m right, then I’m SOOOOO READING BOOK 2 !! The author did really a great job writing a PRN book with an interesting new plot idea that sucks the reader right in.

If you’re a PNR lover like me, you def will like this book a lot!!

Rachel M. Raithby's style of writing pulls you in and grips you from first word. The intense pull of the lust generated from Lincoln is reflected in Rachel M. Raithby's writing from page to page.

The imagination piled into Lexia paints the scenes so vividly, you as the reader are living in Deadwood. You instantly fall for Lincoln and are taken on a roller-coaster of emotions with each chapter. A lot of writers struggle to do this successfully but Rachel M. Raithby has nailed the balance perfectly on this one!

You feel almost as though you are Lexia, yet there is still enough distance from the character to relate to the perspectives of the likes of Alice and Lincoln. A quality hard to write. After work I found myself getting in and just wanting to pick up the book to find what Lexia was up to next! For all those avid readers out there you will be familiar when I say that you read a chapter or two a night then go to bed, with Lexia I found myself staying up to read 'just another chapter'. There was never a put down point.

Packed with excitement, loss, adventure and lust Lexia (The Deadwood Hunter Series) is a brilliant read for both fans or newbies to paranormal romance.

Roll on Book 2 Whispers of Darkness!!

This book was given to us by the author for an honest review.
Lexia grew up with just her father. He was very protective and loving.
Alice is Lexia's best friend. They go out one night and Alice is ignoring Lexia because she is getting attention from men. So Lexia leaves, only to be attacked by 3 vampires. Something happens and she gets this superhuman power, and tears the vampires apart with her bare hands. But being attacked by the vampires awakens the Hunter in her. She doesn't know what is happening to her.
Lincoln is a panther shifter who comes to town cause he is drawn in because his inner panther knows that other shifters, and vamps are being killed. He comes to kill the Hunter that is killing all the shifters. But when he sees Lexia, there is something about her and he can't kill her. He is attracted to her. Hunters are his enemy, and he is not sure what it is about this girl that makes him so attracted to her.
Can they find love in the one that is supposed to be their enemy?

So impressed with this First book of a series.. I'm suckered in.. again.. ;)

Lexia is not your typical teenager but you may think that in the beginning.. until her frightening encounter, and I'm still shocked. She's being spied on by a shifter Lincoln who would love nothing more than to take her down but is just too darn curious for his own good. If he had just did what he was supposed too.. but no.. the fireworks are kaboom. He's fallen hook line and sinker and Lexia is just too hot to trot..lol Great chemistry.
Alice seems cool, and like to see her character played with more for the next book. Screw Lexia's mother..what a hoard. I'd like to say worse but.. its a review. Lexia had so many different people confronting her in not good ways I'm surprised she stayed so strong. I'm totally into shapeshifting books so this was completely up my alley and I loved the whole thing was up all night reading!

This book is meant for 17 and up.. parental discretion I would think.. steamy scenes. ;)))) Not complaining..lol

What an ending!!! Definitely will be waiting for the next installment!!! I had a little trouble with the first couple chapters but the characters are strong enough to keep you reading, after that I couldn't put the book down! This book is something all together new and very original. I loved the story line some parts went to fast but I can't say enough how great this book is and how the author really put you in Lexia's mind plus a bonus with getting to hear Linc's thoughts here and there. I think I have a new favorite animal....Panther!!!!

The book started off a little slow but it kept me interested and wanting to know what was happening. About half-way through the book it picked up and I couldn't put it down. Then the end of book... it was a cruel cliffhanger ending. I highly anticipate the next book and it can't come out soon enough.

This book was so awesome, I loved it but I'm already getting ahead of myself. First of all the synopsis of this book immediately drew me in and I wanted to know more. The story starts off with her at a club and when Lexia is walking home she was attacked by vampires and she amazes herself by killing them, this is where the plot takes off. Lexia continues to fight supernatural things throughout the book and she's tired of it because she does not understand why she is different.

The characters: Lexia was a good character. Rachel wrote her very well, she easy to relate to cause her problems were not only supernatural. I liked that she learned a lot about herself and got better at fighting. Both main characters were developed very well. So many things happened to this poor girl, I really felt bad for her, I have a soft spot for characters getting hurt. I loved Lincoln's character; (later on in the story, I didn't like him that much in the beginning) he was very loving and caring towards Lexia. He was there for her emotionally and physically (yeah you know what I mean). He took care of her when she was at her worse and had no one else to turn to. I loved how protective he was it was in his nature. I love his sly comments, he knew he was gorgeous and was not afraid to show it. He would show up at random places to see Lexia, so he basically secretly stalked her (that kind of became ok for me since Edward stalked Bella lol) if a hot guy stalks you, you might end up dating him j/k. He knew he shouldn't fall for her because he didn't trust her in the beginning and Lexia felt the same, but they couldn't fight it anymore. Lexia's father Mike wasn't in the story much but he was very important. Her friend Alicia was the kind of girl that liked to have fun and crush on boys, that's the way Lexia used to be until everything changed in her life.

Towards the middle is where it got really good for me. Lexia finally gets with Lincoln and the steamy scenes start and those were awesome by the way. There was a lot of that, it's like every chance Lexia and Lincoln had a chance to get hot and heavy, they did. There were many some sad moments and I have to admit that I cried because they were emotional for me as well and I knew exactly how she was feeling.

Lexia gets 5/5 stars, I really loved it. The chemistry between Lexia and Lincoln was undeniable, I really liked when they got together (I gotta have my romance haha) just the way that they felt about each other was a joy for me to read. The ending was a cliffhanger and I need to know more, there are certain things that were not sorted out so I can't wait for book 2.

One night changed everything for Lexia, suddenly finding out vampires existed was nothing compaired to finding out you can kill them with ease. As everything Lexia thought she ever knew is turned upside down she is forced to come to tearms with her new reality, and also figure out who to trust while she's at it. Lincoln comes into her life at what should be the worst time, but there's something that calms the storm brewing within her. With him she feels peace she doesn't anymore with the rest of her life, but will the secrets he hold bring them closer together or tear them apart?

Lexia is one strong chica, not just physically, but mentally too. She doesn't let anyone tell her what to do and she accepts the consequences for her actions. Her strong mind is her greatest asset, but it also causes her extreme stubborness with make for some ammusing times when someone gets in her way.

Lincoln is an alpha male with the mystery element to keep you interested while also making you want to strangle him at times. He's also sweet, caring, and loyal. There's allot to his character, but you can always tell that he'll do anything for those he cares for.

The story is interesting, jumping right into things right from the beginning. There's allot going on at the start and it takes a bit to figure out what's going on and who's who, but once you get into it the story sweeps you up into it drawing you into the world the author created. Loving the storyline and the characters and can wait to see more of both.

5 big hooked stars

Lexia lives with her father and is at the tail end of her education, she is a normal girl enjoying shopping, friends and parties. Until she is cornered by some vampires then everything changes - she kills them and she is unsure how. Her life from here forward is never the same, she is different, her eyes keep changing, she is being stalked by a panther, then there's Lincoln the hot guy that's always hanging around ! Lexia's life is completely turned upside down and then she has to run and hide ...

Wow oh wow! Having read Rachel Raithby's Winter Wolf I was really looking forward to reading this series, wasn't sure if it could be as good, but it certainly is ! I absolutely loved this book and fell completely in love with Lexia and Lincoln, they have a great bond and chemistry.

I really didn't want this book to end I had a hard job putting it down - I was gripped from the very beginning, sucked in and transported right into Lexia's crazy world. This book is quite different from how I expected it to be and I really cant wait to start the next book in the series. A great gripping book, one of my top reads !

Free download. Well this was different. Lexia is different but her gifts only came to life when she's attacked by vampires. Lex easily defends herself and kills the vamps, but not knowing what's going on scares her and she soon finds that she can't talk to anyone. Lincoln is a shifter who thinks her knows what Lexia is, his enemy but he can't help but be drawn to her, Lex isn't what he thinks and she starts to feel things for him that she hasn't before. Eventually they both begin to understand the other and build trust but things aren't always that easy and Lexia's life is turned upside down with new truths and heartache. I really enjoyed this story, it's very original, great characters, a strong lead and Alpha make this story come to life. The emotions are realistic and the sexual energy is great. I am looking forward to seeing what happens to Lexia and Lincoln. Would recommend.

Hmmm I'm not really sure why I hadn't read this series yet... I've kept putting it off for some reason. With the recent release of book 3 I thought it was about time to start. But having finally read 'Lexia', I now know why... Rachel & her cliffhanger, I got to the end & BAM what a major cliffy! I would have been hounding Rachel for the finished series on a daily basis. 'Lexia' is book 1 in Rachel's "The Deadwood Hunter" series & I would advise you read this baby first.... seriously you don't want to miss out.

I loved everything about this book, from the interractions between all the characters, to the action & paranormal creatures. We get to read how Lexia's life turned upside down & how she turned her life around. What an AMAZINGLY CAPTIVATING read. Thank you Rachel, I loved 'Lexia'!!

4.5 stars loved this book!
My favorite lines in was everything the panther said, he had his own thing going with Lexia.
This story took you on a wild ride from page one to the end, there were never a boring moment.
Let's recap 1.mother from hell, 2. Father with secrets 3. Hunters wants to kill her 4. Shifter and vampires want to kill her and a super hot boyfriend.
But don't get this twist she can and hold her own but questions is who is she?
Is a protector of destroyer of man?
The cliffhanger will leave you wanting for more or texting the author for the next book.

I received this book in return for an honest review LoP. This book may start slowly, but that builds slowly and steadily until you are gripping your seat. It also starts out very YA, innocent and kind of sweet, but there are some scenes in this book that made me catch my breath - they were so hot. I loved Lexia. She was so confused and trying to figure out who she was, and Lincoln helped her do that. He also helped with other things as well. This is a great book and I wholly recommend it. I hear Ms. Riathby is working on another in this series, and I can't wait to read that.

I liked this book so much that I went ahead and bought the second in the series. I'm not sure I liked the second enough to read on, but I loved the first...

Lexia sneaks out to a party one night only to be attacked by vampires. Not only is she shocked that vampires even exist, but she destroys them and heals quickly from the damage they did. Not only does Lexia have to deal with all that wierd going on in her life, but she notices she has super strength, enhanced hearing and smell and there seems to be a panther stalking her intent on making her his prey.

I found this book to very intriguing. Although it started out a little odd for my taste, it quickly drew me in. The twist and turns of the book, kept me thinking and even going back to read a portion again. The author gave me a wonderful story that has left me wanting more. I especially enjoyed the chemistry between the heroine and the hero (main characters in the story). I look forward to reading more of the author’ work, both in this series and her other endeavors.
