About the author

Dr. K.N. Ganeshaiah is an agricultural scientist and professor at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. He is also a novelist specializing in thrillers, and writes in the Kannada language.

Prof Ganeshaiah has pioneered a new style of writing novels and short stories in Kannada that seamlessly mixes facts and fiction in the form of thrillers. Through this style, his writings have captured a new generation of readers in Kannada contributing to the growth of story writing in Kannada.

Though an agriculture scientist, his novels and stories bring to the reader, the lesser-known and hidden facts of history along with science. Some of
his novels are also aimed at bringing the most complicated elements of science to the general reader.

Recognizing the novelty in the style of writing, he was awarded Kannada Sahitya Academy Datti Award for his novel Kanaka Musuku, which combines both history and science. As some experts have inferred, his thrillers have drawn a large number of new readers to Kannada.

In recognition of his novel contribution to Kannada Literature, Prof Ganeshaiah has also been honored with the Honorary President of Kolar District Sahitya Parishat during 2013

Prof Ganeshaiah has written Nine novels, and 41 short/long stories (in eight collections) and over 63 essays in the areas related Science and Society. His recent book Sasya Sagga on the wonders of plant life as told through his own journey in the field of botany and evolution has attracted your readers. Several of his novels and stories were serialized in Kannada Weekly Magazines

ಕಲೆಯ ಮೋಹ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನಲ್ಲಿ!
ಒಬ್ಬನ ಮೋಹ ಸಾವಿಗೆಡೆಯಾದರೆ,
ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನ ಮೋಹ ವೈರಾಗ್ಯಕ್ಕೆಡೆಯಾಗುವುದು "ಶಾಲಭಂಜಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ".

ಆಘಾತಕಾರಿ ಇತಿಹಾಸ, ಎದೆಯಾಳದಿಂದ ನೋವಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದು, ಕಲೆಯಾಗಿ (ಬಸವ ಸಂಕೇತ) ಅರಳಿ ಹರಡಿದೆ, ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ.

ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನ/ಸಮುದಾಯವೊಂದರ ಅರಿವಿನ ಸ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ ಬಾರದ ಜ್ಞಾನ, ಬದಲಾವಣೆ, ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ವಿಸ್ಮಯಗಳು, ಸಂಶಯವಾಗಿ, ದ್ವೇಷಕ್ಕೆ ತಿರುಗಿ ವಿನಾಶಕ್ಕೆಡೆ ಮಾಡುವುದು "ಹುಲಿಯ ಮಡಿಲ ಹುಳುವಿನಲ್ಲಿ".
ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅದನ್ನ ತಲೆಕೆಳಗು ಮಾಡಬಲ್ಲ ಕಸುವಿರುವುದು, ವಿವೇಕಯುತ ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತಿಕೆ, ಜ್ಞಾನ, ಕಾರ್ಯಶಕ್ತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಬೆಂಬಲಗಳ ಬಲದಿಂದ ಎಂದೂ ತೋರಿಸಿ ಕೊಡುವುದೂ ಇದೇ ಕಥೆ!

Shalabhanjike is a collection of about eight short stories based on true events. This is probably one of his earliest creative writings. Though the stories are not detailed, the author has done a phenomenal job in making readers understand the importance of knowing History and Science. The author has also cited various references to substantiate his writings which is otherwise seen only in scientific reports.
At many points in the book, I was awestruck with facts provided by him. Few of them being: Locating the coordinates of a Flower using Bees, The History of Gow Garbha of Vishnu Idol in Somanathapura and few others.

At the end, it makes me say, History and Science are so multifaceted, and often covered with a thick of superstitious beliefs.. The more we dig the more it reveals!

ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯನವರು ಸಸ್ಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿ ಆಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಅವರೊಳಗಿನ ಸಂಶೋಧಕ ಎಲ್ಲಕ್ಕೂ ಆಧಾರವನ್ನು ಬಯಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾಕಥೆಯ ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಚಿತ್ರ ಸಮೇತ ಅವರ ಕತೆಗೆ ಏನು ಪ್ರೇರಣೆ ಅನ್ನೋದನ್ನ ವಿವರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು reference ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿರುವುದು ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ಮಾಡುವವರಿಗೆ ಖಂಡಿತ ಸಹಾಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
ಕಥೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳೋದರಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣೇಶಯ್ಯನವರು ಸಿದ್ದಹಸ್ತರು.

ಗ್ವಾಲಿಯರ್ನ ಗುರ್ಜರಿ ಮೊಹಲ್ ಅಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಸುಂದರ ಶಾಲಾಭಾಂಜಿಕೆ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಯ ಸುತ್ತ ಹೆಣೆದ ಕಥೆ, ಕೃತಿಯ ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆ. ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಥೆಗಳು ಒಂದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಒಂದು ಕೂತೂಹಲಕರವಾಗಿ ಮೂಡಿಬಂದಿದೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯ ಬಗೆಗಿನ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವಂತಿವೆ.

Ganeshaiah makes use of his research acumen and weaves interesting stories around history, science, and beliefs, etc. Totally loved some stories in this book. Plant scientists and insect oriented scientists will totally dig this book well.
