Satan's Plea

Rate this book
The battle between good and evil, God and Satan.

But is everything we know about this struggle a matter of propaganda? Satan, Lucifer, the Devil, Shaytan sure thinks so. In this letter he tries to convince the human race, you, of his intentions.
They are pure.
Everything that was blamed on him was done as a smokescreen to cover more sinister motives.
The Fall? Not merely a matter of wanting to rule in Hell over serving in Heaven.
The Garden of Eden? He was trying to help us.
Jesus? Don't even ask.

With this letter Lucifer tells us his version of all the stories to settle the injustices of this world once and for all. Be careful... you might find yourself on the wrong side.

I found Satan's Plea hard to engage with, at first, but about a quarter of the way in, it turned a corner and found its groove. I listened to the Audible version, and the narration was excellent.

This short seems like a set-up for a full-scale novel, one I'd absolutely love to read, where Lucifer and God go to war. I'd love to see how that battle ends, and truth be told, from where this left off, I'd like to see the perceptive and sympathetic Lucifer win that one over the egocentric and selfish God who had only his best interests at heart, not those of his creations.

I really enjoyed this story! I would only wish for it to be longer, and we could hear more from him about other historical events through the years. Narration is very good as well. I highly recommend this story, it will make you think and re-think. There are always 3 sides to a story, the winning side, the losing side and the truth, which I have found in life tends to lean closer to the losing side.

Satan’s Plea by Nelson Lowhim is a daring reexamination of good and evil, told through Lucifer’s own words. With compelling arguments and a fresh take on biblical events, this book challenges everything we’ve been taught about the Fall, the Garden of Eden, and the eternal battle between Heaven and Hell. Mark Lindgren’s narration adds depth and persuasion, making the audiobook feel hauntingly real. Whether you agree or not, this story will leave you questioning long after the final word. A must-read for fans of philosophical and mythological retellings.

This is a fictional story from a POV I hadn't heard before. The story is written as a letter, which I thought was super clever. It also showed Satan as attempting to be a good person, which is different from other stories where Satan accepts his evil nature.

I got a free promo code for this book from Reddit. Thank you!

This was a humorous short story from Satan's point of view on God and Heaven. His depictions of events of the Garden of Eden was entertaining. Overall a funny short story that I enjoyed. The narration by Mark Lindgren was good. Go ahead and give it a listen.

Disclaimer: My enjoyment of the narrator is based on my listening speed. I only leave 5 stars for books I've listened to or will listen to multiple times. I'll update my review if I listen again.

I requested this book from the author, narrator, or publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Satan's Plea by Nelson Lowhim tells the story of how Satan experienced life in heaven, and his views on why he was expelled.
Minor spoiler alert: He thinks God is a selfish person who bullies angels into following order, is short sighted, and in general a bad leader and role model. As a result, Satan and a few other angels gather together and starts working towards a better world.

It is a funny take on the biblical story of Satan, and should be required reading for christians, since it is clear that the one-sided take they trust in, could in fact be quite different. While not exactly a deep tale, it just gives us a short insight into Satans character and not much else, and is therefore not very surprising.

It is quite well written, and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a short, and somewhat humorous, story to lighten up their day. It is a relatively short audiobook (1 hour and 5 minutes), and the narration by Mark Lindgren was done really well. He set the mood perfectly with a very deep voice, and had a nicely tonal variety that helped the story along.

I end up with 3/5 for a well written and coherent story, with great narration, that doesn't push any boundaries (Well, perhaps for christians). Had the story been longer and slightly more complex, I would most likely have given it another star.

Disclaimer: I was provided the audiobook for free, in return for a review.

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is for the Audible version of the book, the option for this wasn't available on goodreads at the time of writing this.

The Book

I'm not sure if it was deliberate or not but the bit before the story about characters being fictitious made me laugh. I'm in no way religious and found the slightly humorous tone of the story to be good, Satan wasn't speaking in preachy or old fashioned language and it was interesting and entertaining. The story did get quite dark at times but never got bogged down by it.

The Production

The narrator was good and suited the character well, quality was good and it was very enjoyable to listen to.

This was an interesting short story. It kind of reminds me of the “other takes” that you hear about from common stories like Little Red Riding Hood or the Big Bad Wolf. This was a story of the Bible but extremely condensed and from Satan’s point of view. It is kind of like an alternate history type of book. I thought it was enjoyable.

Audiobook narrator Mark Lindgren rating: 4.5 stars
The narrator was excellent! I would listen to him again for sure.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Big thanks to the author for sending a copy of this book for free. I enjoyed this short story more than i thought i would. I would like to mention that as i read throughout the story i was able to immerse myself in thought, which should speak nicely of the topics touched.

My critique for this short story though is that the reading felt rather boring. It seemed like i was hearing my grandpa or an 'old man' (get it?) telling me his tales and you are trying not to sleep from all the mumbling.

This book is definitely new perspective on the creation story. I thoroughly enjoyed how the emotion and sympathy you felt for Lucifer. The Devil doesn't view it as a battle of good vs evil, rather of right vs wrong. And from his view he is right and just. It is the Creator whom is unfair. Definitely recommend.

A well narrated little story about Lucifer's interpretations of, well, everything. I do so enjoy tales that cast evil in a sympathetic light.

The audiobook had great narration. The narrator gave Satan an almost Tom Waits-ish flavour.
A quick read or listen but quite enjoyable.
