[Siren Allure Erotic Alternative Historical Romance, M/M, voyeurism, public exhibition, orgies, sex toys, HEA] Perry Sinclair's grand tour of Europe is not going entirely to plan. He loses his bear-leader, his valet, and his friend in quick succession, and finds himself alone in Venice. In the midst of the gaiety and excesses of Venetian Carnevale, Perry meets a fellow Englishman, known only as Jack. Jack introduces Perry to a group of gentlemen who indulge in a variety of sexual activities while hiding their identity behind Carnevale masks. Shocked and yet delighted, Perry flings himself headlong into such pleasure, falling deeply in love with Jack as he does so. Jack Fitzwarren does not fall in love. He certainly does not fall in love with English tourists. But despite Jack's best efforts, Perry's artless enthusiasm and unquestioning trust begin to find a way through all of his defences, allowing Jack almost to forget the secret he carries with him, the one that means he can never confess to Perry who he really is. ** A Siren Erotic Romance
Joy Lynn Fielding lives in a small English market town, where she nurtures passions for vintage aircraft, horses and gardening. An avid researcher for her books, she delights in uncovering unusual facts and sharing them with anyone within earshot. She insists this has never led to anyone hiding behind the furniture.
Joy writes at the pace her health allows, powered by enthusiasm, optimism and, above all, coffee. She hopes her books offer good company to anyone navigating their own winding paths.
Boy Howdy, does this thing start off with a bang! Percy finds himself alone in Venice during carnevale and runs smack dab into a wall of muscle in the form of Jack who offers to show him… around. “Around” in Italian, apparently, means let’s go to an orgy!
Alrighty then!
They hit this orgy and things go from hot to molten. Let’s just say Percy is a deliciously naughty little bird.
*growls*
All of the first probably 30% I was practically bouncing in my seat at all the debauchery then… it’s like I switched books. Percy and Jack start spending more time together and the next thing you know they’re declaring their love?
Wut?
I think they confuse hot for each other and amazeballs sex for love, but that’s just my 2¢.
Percy has a lot of child like qualities. He asks a million questions, is exuberant about many things, isn’t in the slightest bit jaded or cynical and has some self-esteem issues. He’s very sweet and he’s definitely got some submissive qualities which Jack seems to bring to the fore.
Jack is older, has had some hard knocks and has a mysterious past which happens to work its way into the conflict. He’s purportedly anti-relationship, all evidence to the contrary.
The story does have an interesting twist and you know I love the debauchery and snippets of kink, but overall there’s nothing extraordinary about the characterizations or the trope. Ms. Fielding does imagery well and made me feel like I was back in Venice and I do love me some Italy. There was a brief corset sighting which piqued Percy’s interest and I’m sincerely hoping makes more of an appearance in part two. Also, there’s a bit of a cliff ending riiiiiiiiggggghhhhhhttttt before the ding dang bacchanalia!
Well played there, Ms. Fielding. Definitely ensures I’ll read part two.
A true gem. I won't hesitate to call this one of the best Siren books I've read - if not THE best one - and truly deserves a larger audience than it has. In it is a simple love story without any of the usual trappings of mystery side plots and what not. The characters aren't so deep that no one would hear you scream if you fell into them, and are in fact rehashings of the usual top and bottom dynamic -but Fielding's writing makes it so that you simply can't call this yet another one of THOSE romance novels.
Only one book of this author's left to read and so far everything is brilliant. This reader grudgingly adores them all.
Gentlemen in different stages of undress were kissing. They were touching, over their clothes and beneath them, and oh, God, there were strong, masculine hands moving over men’s naked flesh.
Perry attends Carnevale with the intention of watching, perhaps more? He loses his companions and finds himself alone on a sketchy street. Wearing his own very fancy mask Perry is approached by Jack, who brings relatively innocent Perry to a house of debauchery where he is introduced to many of his favorite fantasies in the flesh.
Perry has a wonderful time and finds himself falling in love with the mysterious Jack, whom he only knows in this disguised persona. What he doesn’t know is Jack has a dark secret, a past which keeps him from developing relationships with anyone. Is his past true or a sham? When Perry discovers the truth will Jack be able to allow Perry into his life?
Wonderful story, extremely sexy, with just enough mystery and angst to keep you reading non-stop. I couldn’t put it down. This was my first book by Joy Lynn Fielding but it won’t be my last by any means. Definitely will be reading the next in this series.
What a delightful short story. It is everything one could ask for in a two hour read--full of intrigue, lust, uncertainty, steam, angst, romance, fear, hurt, debauchery, acceptance and love. The MCs were wonderful!
Although this book can be read as a stand-alone, there is a second book featuring, if I'm not mistaken, the same two men. Hmm, I know how I will be spending my afternoon!
Despite my dislike of the type of debauchery Perry and Jack enjoy in the story (orgies are just not my thing), I enjoyed the read. I especially liked the development of Perry and Jack's relationship. Both men were lost in some way, looking for guidance and acceptance; it was lovely to see them finally find that in one another.
