Liam "Knuckles" McNabb is a seasoned fence for the infamous biker club, the Devils’ Inferno. His life is full of risks and uncertainties, but nothing could have prepared him for the shocking discovery of two kidnapped women in the back of a stolen big rig. One of the women is Kalara Riley, a museum curator struggling with Schizoaffective disorder. Liam takes it upon himself to help her cope with her condition and protect her from the dangers of their world. As their relationship deepens, they must face the brutal reality of the Devils' violent lifestyle and question whether their love can withstand the chaos that surrounds them. *This dark MC romance contains sexual and dark themes, and has a HEA. Can be read as a standalone.*
This author has been in love with books ever since they can remember. They started writing stories and poetry at a very young age and have since then been honing their craft. Currently residing in the picturesque mountains of Pennsylvania, they continue to draw inspiration from the natural beauty around them. When not writing, they love to sip on a cup of coffee, spend time learning new things, and playing with their children.
I got this as a buy for free, and usually, I try to finish those books even if I don't personally click with the story, but this one was really difficult. First, the writing was not good. Transitions were not handled well from situation to situation or even dialogue. The writing felt juvenile in word choice and character actions.
Knuckles just doesn't come across as a real character, and the FMC didn't either. The one saucy scene I got to was interesting. Not used to reading that type of smex act but what made me DNF was people's reactions to the poor woman who had been abducted, sex trafficked, raped to be breed, fallen pregnant and is understandable experiencing trauma.
So good dark romance will fold trauma in realistically (for fictional romance) that builds the characters or conflict or plot. The way the situation was just tossed around rubbed me the wrong way. When the pregnant rape survivor mentioned not ever wanting kids and how she doesn't want the pregnancy or babies post pregnancy I understood the motives behind that thought process but the narrative clearly sets up that we, the readers, are to look down at her for feeling that way. They described wanting to murk her because the woman flipped out and lost it, not wanting the babies inside her.
The FMC steps up 😒 to say, of course she'll take them she's always wanted kids, and again, the entire situation as it was written was shakey. Sentences that felt like information was missing. Situations that weren't flowing. Insta everything. I couldn't stomach to continue reading the story. The FMC is supposedly schizophrenic disorder, but she was off her medication. The casual way they tossed out "well, let's get you back on meds" was frightening. Did the author do proper research to depict someone with this disorder in this situation? Couldn't tell. By 23%, I tapped out.
For this to be a debut novel, it was an in depth story with colorful characters. Knuckles and Kalara were made for one another and the way the author delved deep into mental illness was simply brilliant. The twists and turns were chaotic and heart racing at times. What I loved most was how the main characters grew up in two totally different worlds, yet they're a beautiful disaster that crashed into each other's lives. Although the book is a good read, the elements were more poetic than gritty, which isn't a bad thing. The author is definitely a talented writer and I can't wait for the next book release!
This author has created the perfect mix of characters and their mental issues. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of MC type of reads, but this one had a different element that I hadn't read before. Schizoaffective disorder is a tough disorder to write on, and books where I've read it before, it hasn't been all that believable. Then add in the mix of kidnapping, and this book was well written and I can't wait for more.
Avalon is a new author for me, but has given us an awesome book in the Devil's Inferno world. Liam "Knuckles" is shocked to find 2 kidnapped women in the back of a stolen truck and is stunned to realise that Kalara is meant to be his. From there it's a wild ride as they get closer and try to keep her safe on their way to a HEA. Dive in to see how it all goes down! I loved reading this book and recommend it. Don't miss out on this book!!
Devil's Fist is the second book in the Devil's Inferno World MC series. This is a multi-author, shared universe. This is a standalone and does end with a HEA.
This is my introduction to Avalon Ciara's books, I was highly impressed. I love MC stories and this really captured the feel. Kalara & Knuckles was such a unique couple and I loved them so much. Please be advised that there are dark themes and mental health rep. I'm highly intrigued in reading more from this shared world.
I really liked the story! BUT, I felt like a pre-schooler trying to read a high school textbook. So many "big" words and didn't seem like typical MC language. I appreciated the representation of mental illness & willingness to make it a storyline. I was confused quite a bit reading, especially the end- who the heck is Lily?!?! I'm excited about the Devils Inferno World tho.
Liam has always had to fight his way through life, Kalara is used to the finer things, though it hasn’t stopped her from wanting to make a name for herself. He’s ready for a new beginning and seeing her for the first time brings his dreams of a family of his own to the forefront and might just be each other’s saving grace.
This is not my normal genre but I was interested in the portrayal of characters struggling with mental illness. This was portrayal in a believable manner and I found the characters likeable. All in all an enjoyable read, I will certainly pick up more books by this author.
I really enjoyed this book. This book had me wanting to read more from this author. I will be watching for more. The story of Knuckles and Kalara's story was great to watch happen. I am excited for more.
This book was good but not fantastic, the story seemed a little disjointed at time and didn't flow as smoothly as I like, I won't say no to another of the author's books and would be willing to read another.
Liam aka Knuckles during his last job something feels off. Turns out he finds Kalara who was kidnapped along with another woman. While helping the two women he starts to feels something he hasn’t felt before for Kalara. It’s interesting because the other woman is so traumatized she goes off, lot goes on good storyline.
Kalara & Knuckles story is a different kind of MC romance. It is so different from other MC books I have read. A story of kidnapping, heart stopping moments, love and twin babies. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Avalon.
A few sections of the book I found confusing and the storyline changes where hard to keep up with and I had to go back and read them again to make sense of the scene changes. The epilogue had me all sort of confused!!
