I got this as a free book, really liked the beginning so much I read on. This is not the kind of book I typically read, but it's very well written and I loved the author's great job of scientific and archeological research to weave it all into a "what if" question. There's also a strong, if conflicted female protagonist, light on the romance, but this wasn't necessary as the book is all about the possibility of an amazing archeological discovery.

The question is: Are we humans what we are today because of heavenly intervention? I noticed elements of the TV series "Ancient Aliens" and in the case of this book, angels who came here and interbred with humans. The author takes this idea and puts his own original spin on it, giving the reader a thrilling possibility that is part fantasy and part horror, and after reading THE END, I shivered at the idea of that submerged crypt lying at the bottom of the sea, just waiting to be opened again. VERY scary!

I highly recommend this book!

If you like suspense with submerged "treasure" and really, really bad guys, you might also like Circle of Bones by Christine Kling. Not paranormal, but history, and also very well done.
