I wanted to like this book. I really did. The premise was interesting, but as it went on the writing got more and more juvenile, weird and sometimes quite dumb. Either that or I just didn't understand the author's attempt at humor. For example, one line reads "Dali knitted her eyebrows, and when she finished, she tossed the needles to the ground." Um, okay? And "He spit up a little bit...and so did the baby." Not funny.

When was the last time you read a comic novel full of expressions like “yah, you betcha”, and “gee, wilackers”? Me neither. This book is quirky, silly, crazy, preposterous, frivolous, hairbrained, dippy, and yes, romantic, but it’s wacky romantic, not romantic romantic. It’s full of puns and non-sequiturs.

There’s the hapless protagonist, the perky best friend, the love interest, the evil wife who has the love interest imprisoned (not actually in jail, silly), and lots of weird and loveable characters.

The first sentence in the book: “Blade Dafner stood and stretched, his seven-foot two-inch frame………..” had me first puzzled, then laughing at the absurdity of such a character. Seldom is the tallest professional basketball player that tall. Then it gets crazier from there.

Phone conversation:
Blade: “Well, I’d better get going. I have a golf game in forty-five minutes”
Dali: “Good luck”
Blade: “My handicap is three, Dali”
Dali: “I’m sorry about that”, she offered. As she trotted to the kitchen to make coffee, she wondered if such a handicap was genetic.
The book is full of LOL stuff like this.

This is the perfect rebound book right after you’ve read some heavy literature, say, Anna Karenina or The Grapes of Wrath, and your brain needs a vacation.

Blade and Daisy are unhappily married due to the demands of their parents and a large financial settlement. . Daisy wants the housekeeper and Blade wants a child. Daisy does not want to ruin her figure but she does want a housekeeper. They decide to advertise for a housekeeper/ surrogate.
Deli needs money to finish school but can't earn enough working at low end jobs. She applies for the job sort of and after several bumbling try's she is hired by the couple. Daisy is a nightmare to work for and she is quickly falling for Blade.
This is a funny tale with off the wall characters and plenty of dry humor. I laughed out loud and smiled throughout the book. A great book for lovers of Chick Lit and humor.

I have read and reviewed a lot of books in my time and always tried to find the good in all of them. I really don't like giving 1 star ratings but in this case I will make an exception. I however, cannot say what I disliked most.......names of the characters.......elementary writing style.....or the story in general! Really happy that this was free amazon book and sad that I waisted time on it.

So many laugh out loud moments. I knew there was going to be something special between Dali and Blade. I felt every emotion reading this book. I hated Daisy. I was in tears when I found out the truth about the baby. I wish all books could have a pleasant ending.

What a weird story. Cute but sometimes I didn't follow the humor. The storyline was sweet and romantic, but overall with the weird humor I wasn't very into it. I was happy about the baby storyline and how that ended.
