★★★★ 1/2! Steal My Heart (stand-alone). A fast paced, entertaining & very sexxxy romance following Gabe Master & germophobic Maggie on the run from villains!

“If you don’t get off my lap right now, you’re going to be naked and riding me until this thing in my pants calms down!”

This is a stand-alone, but I recommend this reading order:
Book 1: Steal My Heart
Book 2: Surrender My Love

Told from dual POV’s Steal My Heart offers lots of sexual tension and sizzling sex, danger, suspense and intrigue, shocking revelations and the ultimate betrayal all mixed in with many funny moments.

Story opens up with Gabe Master aka Dutch, disguised and a homeless man, being chased down an alley. The reason why will unfold with the story. There is a shoot-out and Gabe is injured, but narrowly escapes by fleeing to the subway. Once there he collapses right in front of Maggie, a nurse still dressed in scrubs. The passengers all pressure Maggie who is a germophobic, into performing CPR on Gabe.

Next thing Maggie knows this injured homeless person, with unusually clean and healthy teeth, has latched on to her and she is forced to accompany him to the hospital. With the villains in hot pursuit Maggie quickly finds herself (semi-) kidnapped by Gabe and on the run.

It can’t be denied; Gabe and Maggie have a strong sexual attraction with lots of sexual tension thus they soon find themselves in bed. Follow them on a fast-paced journey in and out of the bedroom as they are being chased by villains and trying to decipher the mystery of who is behind it…

“Did you really stop breathing? Did you even need mouth to mouth?”
“No. But it was nice to get it.”

Gabriel Hamilton Masters, Gabe is an awesome hero. Though an in-control alpha, underneath the dirt and his murky past I found a man with a huge heart. Six words to describe Gabe: Enigmatic, focused, brooding, lovable and adrift.

“Gabe was generally aloof and stubbornly independent, but today she’d sensed the full force of that rare vulnerability she saw sometimes deep in his dark eyes.”

 photo EugeneStealmyheartHeroinebySueBee_zps1d568357.jpg
Maggie Lawson, with her germophobia brought humor to the story. But I’d say her OCD was more selective as it did not plague her during sex as an example. Five words to describe Maggie: Corky, meek, compulsive, loyal and endearing.

“Her entire life she’d struggled to lose the extra weight that enjoyed residing at five foot four Maggie Lawson. PO Box ASS, Zip code THIGHS. Seems it was its permanent address, and she’d come to accept the houseguests.”

Overall a sexy, suspenseful and very entertaining read! I am recommending. Thanks Ms. Eugene!

“This man was her captor, yet he freed her soul; he’d caused her agony, yet also delivered peace; every touch was euphoric pleasure, and still every word promised pain and heartbreak…”

4 STOLEN HEART STARS.

“This man was her captor, yet he freed her soul; he’d caused her agony, yet also delivered peace; every touch was euphoric pleasure, and still every word promised pain and heartbreak…”

description

I was approached by the author Lisa Eugene to read and review this book, I read the blurb and thought why not? let's give this one a go, and I was so glad I did. 'Steal my heart' is a fast paced, well written, steamy romance with plenty of action and hilarious characters to entertain its readers and here are my thoughts ...

What's it all about?
Maggie Lawson is a clean freak, germs are her enemy and an ordered life keeps her sane, her job as an OR nurse leads her right into the path of Gabriel 'Gabe' Masters, an ex navy seal who now finds himself working in a field of danger and suspense. Meeting by complete chance the story takes the characters on a Rocky story of sizzling chemistry, danger, shock reveals and love.

What did I love?
Undeniably Lisa Eugene has a huge talent for putting a story together, the story kept me well interested and I was captivated by not only the romance but the suspense and humour included in the book. I loved both characters in 'Steal my heart' on the one hand we have a brooding alpha Gabriel Masters, Gabe is masculine and swoony in equal measure and I found myself falling totally for this charismatic character. Maggie completely won me over she is full of heart, geeky, neurotic, sexy and sweet. This character had a vulnerable side coupled with a strength that I admired. The author really hit home with these book worthy characters and I'll remember them both long after turning the last page.

Final thoughts ...
Would I recommend this story? 100% yes. 'Steal my heart' is not to be judged by its cover, it has a brilliant balance of topics and themes all rounded off wonderfully with a connection between two characters that set my heart racing. I shall be looking out for more from the author and applaud Lisa Eugene for producing a book of wonderfully enjoyable proportions. This book has a fabulous blend of Irresistible, exciting and sensual and I'm glad this author took a chance on little old me reviewing her book. Don't miss out if you like your romance off the charts sexy, full of laugh out loud humour and action that involves suspense. Go grab it readers ... Enjoy.

“I’m a bad man, Maggie."

The heart is sometimes the last to speak the truth

I'll be honest, when I read 'ex-Navy SEAL' and 'dirty boy' in the book's description, I knew I'd be all over this. What? Shallow?! I think not!

Right...moving on then.

This was my first book by Lisa Eygene, and after finishing this, I can say it won't be my last.

Maggie was endearingly quirky. She's a nurse and a germaphobe of obsessive proportions. I was afraid at first that this would irritate me, but she came off as cute and her germaphobia was hilarious. Her internal monologue had me giggling through the entire book.
"Listen, why don't you just leave? I promise I won't call the police. I don't even know your name."
"Gabe."
She blinked. 'Gabe' didn't suite him. Maybe Atilla or Calingula.

Recalling when her gay best friend, Dave, dragged her to an adult toy store after her recent break-up.
She still blushed at the memory. David called the shop his ‘grocery store of genital goodies. And she’d been surprised that it was much like a grocery store, with seemingly ordinary people pushing shopping carts filled with its and other curious items up and down isles. He’d teased her mercilessly because of the wig and dark glasses she’d insisted on wearing, and repeatedly assured her that she looked like the only weirdo pervert in the store, especially after she’d spent a great deal of time questioning the manager about the most efficacious ways of cleaning and sterilizing the device she’d reluctantly purchased. After being referred to the manufacturer, she’d finally gotten some answers, and had even made suggestions that he assured her would be added as an insert with the product. She’d been thrilled to offer her expertise on infection control.

The woman was straight crazy at times, but I still found myself laughing at her antics.
“Ahh… what are you doing?” Gabe walked over and stood next to her.
“I’m blow drying the sheets,” she stated simply. He gave a slight head shake as he regarded her.
“Why?” he asked slowly.
“I’ve inspected the sheets for bedbugs. Doesn’t appear to be any, but this is just a precaution. High heat should kill any microscopic eggs.”

Gabe....*dreamy sigh*. He was a dirty boy indeed. He was sexy, demanding, possessive, and a dirty talker (be still my heart, I just love those dirty talkers.)

The sexual chemistry between these two characters was super hot, and when they finally got down to business...sweet mother!
“Is it good, Maggie?” he hissed, his hips snapping rapidly.
“Yes!”
“Tell me, honey.”
“Oh God, Gabe!”
“Tell me. I need to hear it!” he demanded roughly, his voice a cry of anguish. Her blue eyes snapped open and locked with his.
“Yes, Gabe! Yes! It’s unbelievable! You’re unbelievable!” she gasped as she spasmed on the hard granite.

(and mama like!)

I don't want to reveal too much of the plot, since it would give away spoilers.

But I will say that it was sexy, fast paced, action-filled, and a page turner till the end.

Now I do have some minor quibbles. I have this pet peeve when author's use various terminology for the...uhem....nether regions. It's like they get too creative at times, just call it what it is. I may have developed a slight allergy to the term 'rod' or 'member'. Dunno, just doesn't conjure sexy thoughts for me. *shrugs*
...he let her thighs fall to the side, then rolled his sweats further down his hips and gripped the wide root of his member.

********************
His rod soon became stiff and hot and pushed eagerly into her palm.

I think my biggest quibble is with the ending. I loved the action in this book. It was fast paced and filled with twists that I never saw coming. The big twist at the end...wowsa!

But...I felt like the ending came and then we had a very sweet epilogue, but it never really explained some things that I felt would have been important to the story.

I think that if we got at least a few paragraphs tying that all up, it would have helped the ending immensely.

Aside from the 2 minor complaints, I thought the book was fantastic.
I have definitely found me a new author to watch out for, and I will gladly read any future books she releases.

4 Sexy and suspense filled stars

This is a story about Maggie...She is a nurse, who lives a truly boring life...but one day she meets Gabe a hot hobo under...unusual circumstances.Gabe...mmmm he is not an ordinary guy…he is an ex navy seal and now is doing the dirty jobs, that other people don’t want to do. He is the hot bad guy…

description

At the beginning Maggie is seeing the attraction and the chemistry between them, as the Stockholm syndrome and not as something strong. But after a while she starts to realize that she is feeling something that afterwards will change her life…

"This man was her captor, yet he freed her soul; he'd coused her agony, yet also delivered peace; every touch was ephoric pleasure, and still every word promised pain and heartbreak."

Spending time together, Gabe becomes more attracted to her. He feels things for first time...

"You're beautiful Maggie. So beautiful you take my breathe away. You make me forget who I am.""

I literally love this book!!! It’s so good!! The book is a fast paced and fun to read, with a great premise and interesting characters!!
It makes you turning the pages to find out what happens next!!

4 Where-Is-My-Hot-Hobo Stars!

Maggie, an OR nurse, is on her way home from work when she comes across a hobo who appears to be seriously injured. Maggie does her best to help stabilize his injuries until an ambulance can arrive to take him to the hospital. Little does Maggie know that by her helping Gabe (the hobo), she unwillingly gets involved with an ex-Navy SEAL who is currently a gun for hire and his latest assignment.

Maggie is definitely not the typical heroine that I read about in novels but I thoroughly enjoyed reading about her character! She is feisty, moralistic, likes control, and is a total germaphobe!

Maggie to Gabe after he saved her life: "I can't believe you pushed me onto the floor. Do you know what kind of microbial soup-"

*~*~*~*~*

Maggie's thoughts about when she purchased a sex toy: "David called the shop his 'grocery store of genital goodies.' And she'd been surprised that it was so much like a grocery store, with seemingly ordinary people pushing shopping carts filled with its and other curious items up and down isles. He'd teased her mercilessly because of the wig and dark glasses she'd insisted on wearing, and repeatedly assured her that she looked like the only weirdo pervert in the store, especially after she'd spent a great deal of time questioning the manager about the most efficacious ways of cleaning and sterilizing the device she'd reluctantly purchased."

Her comments and thoughts about germs really cracked me up!

Another hilarious aspect of this story is Maggie's gay best friend & neighbor, David.

Maggie: "Well, he was still dangerous! He was huge and packed with muscles."
David:"Ooh. My kind of hobo."
Maggie: "And he was so dirty."
David: "Even better!"

*~*~*~*~*

David talking about Gabe: "And damn, Mag, I don't know what's inside his pants, but from what I could see on the outside, he's pretty damn hard to forget!"

Gabe is the typical type of bad boy that I drool over in books. He is an ex-Navy SEAL, a loner, HOT, controlling, dirty (in the good kind of way), possessive, and surprisingly sweet at times.

"There's so many parts of your body that I love," he admitted huskily. "It's sometimes hard to decide which I love more."

*~*~*~*~*

"You're beautiful Maggie. So beautiful you take my breath away."

Overall, If you are looking for a fast paced romantic suspense novel with a quirky heroine, alpha hero, and lots of twists, Steal My Heart is the book for you!

I want to post pics and gifs but I am on my holidays and so f****** knackered that I can barely write a review. When I saw Lkay say "I'll be honest, when I read 'ex-Navy SEAL' and 'dirty boy' in the book's description, I knew I'd be all over this. What? Shallow?! I think not!" I was hooked. Yes, me too, Navy Seal, dirty boy, will do it all the time for me. New author for me but great fast paced book, had all the elements, suspense, sex, intrigue, sex, sexy heroine, sex, good-looking hero, sex.... yep, shallow, we can all stick together. Want to post a picture but I swear I need a holiday after my HOLIDAY. Family, seriously, they are not a holiday, not talking about hubby and kids, talking about in-laws, out-laws, cousins, relations in general... On my way back home so will get back to my good reviewing soon..... might just take a minute to look for a pic for this one.....

"The heart is sometimes the last to speak the truth."

This book was so good. If action/suspense plus a hot alpha male with lots of sexual tension does something for you, then this book is totally the book for you. I had the author, Ms. Lisa Eugene, contact me a few days ago offering me an ARC of her book, once I read the blurb, I knew this was a book for me, I however had no idea just how much.

The story begins with Maggie, like the blurb says, a germaphobe on the subway, by force on her way home. Maggie is an OR nurse and never wears her scrubs home but just this once she's not had a choice. Suddenly there is a commotion up front and then the sea of people part and a very dirty, very unkept man starts ambling toward her and basically collapses right in front of her. She really wants to part of this, but since the one time she steps out in her scrubs everyone is waiting for her to take action. Little does she know, in this one moment her whole life will change.

"
"And like Prince Hamlet, I'm trying to expose a murderer as well.

Gabe is ex-SEAL working jobs for people, but something about this job is sending alarms everywhere. For starters, how do these people know his name?? Everything should have went completely smooth, but instead he has a bullet hole in his shoulder and now has to find a way out of this hospital and go get his flashdrive back. Of course that ends up not going as easy as he thought it would either. Gabe only intended to hold Maggie captive until he got his information and then be gone, but something about her keeps calling to him and then of course her life gets threatened so they are on the run.

All Gabe plans on doing is getting her out of danger, finish the job and disappear again, but as things start unraveling he realizes that something is completely amiss my this job and the longer he spends time with Maggie he becomes more and more attached to her. Not to mention that she starts to bring things to light to him that what he is doing could be horrible for people everywhere.

I loved this book. The suspense, the action, the angst between Maggie and Gabe. What's not to like?? Gabe was the ultimate alpha. He was used to being dependent on himself and being alone so when suddenly he has a buxom blonde depending on him to keep her alive he's not sure what to do with her. At the beginning she wasn't given a choice about being with him or not. I wouldn't necessarily call it being kidnapped, because hey she wasn't completely unwilling, but that didn't mean she didn't try to get away. Her getting stuck in the window was priceless.

(WHile hanging half out of the bathroom window)
"What exactly do you think you're doing?"

"Escaping!"

"Not doing a very good job of it. Are you stuck?"

"NO! I'm not stuck!"

"You've been a bad girl, Maggie. I wish I had time to punish you properly. But we need to go."

Maggie was completely out of her element with Gabe. For starters, her lack of clean clothing, not to mention she had to stay in a hotel. hahaaha, I love that she tried to kill any possible bed bugs with a hair dryer, hahahaa and I often wondered about her skin, she took so many showers. After a time though, I felt Gabe understood her, without seeming to be bothered by it and also they made each other better. Maggie seemed to tear down Gabe's walls, while Gabe brought out a bravery in Maggie and even though she is still a germaphobe, she didn't seem as uptight in the ends.

"You are in so much trouble. Don't you ever do something so reckless ever again! I can't lose you." he choked.

"I can't believe you pushed me onto that floor. Do you know what kind of microbial soup-" Her tirade ended with the crush of his lips.

"Where the hell did you have that gun?"

"Between my boobs. In my...support top."

Once Gabe and Maggie gave into temptation though they couldn't get enough of each other. To the point, Gabe wouldn't allow Maggie to wear underclothes while they were alone and anytime she was caught with a bra or underwear on she got threatened punishment. They ended up being a pretty good team, IMO.

That ending though, or should I say, the big reveal, wow, I never saw that coming. Normally I have a pretty good idea of who is behind all of the bad, but this just completely blew my mind. Of course, then the actual ending was awesome. I actually wish there was a novella or something for what happened next for them. No, it's really not needed I just loved them and wouldn't mind a little more. :)

I loved everything about this book. What do you get when you have a germaphobic nurse who crosses path with an ex Navy Seal turned thief whom you think is a dirty hobo.
This book was so full of laughs ,I had a great time reading it.I loved the heroine who was germaphobic, her dialogues were hysterical.I also loved the hero,he was described so beautifully in the book. The sexual tension between the couple was great and their smexxy times were smoking.I don't think I will look at my kitchen island quite the same again.I am almost tempted to tell my husband to take a jog and come home glistening with sweat and all pumped up lol.
The suspense in the book was dealt with nicely and kept me guessing till the end.All in all ,this book held my attention and will rec this book highly.

Action, suspense, and hot, hot sex! What more can a girl ask for? Lisa Eugene ("Eugene") does not disappoint. Her debut novel “Strictly Business” was so good I couldn’t wait to get my hands on “Steal My Heart.” Eugene definitely knows what her readers want - a story of intrigue that includes one gorgeous, dark-haired male specimen that every girl fantasizes about, and bouts of amazing sex. Her heroines are not only likeable; they come across as genuinely real. Maggie’s curvaceous, not tall, has spunk, and has a healthy fear of germs. This is definitely an author I recommend to those who enjoy suspenseful-romance novels that actually keeps you guessing right until the end.

A germaphobe giving mouth to mouth on a dirty hobo is hilarious. Maggie Lawson is a nurse who works in the OR. I've worked in a hospital for a short year and I found myself becoming more phobic about germs. So I can completely understand Maggie's response. The dirty hobo is fortunately just a disguise for the wealthy former special forces, Gabe Masters.

This story is a romantic suspense with erotic elements. As a first book from Ms. Eugene, it does well with a cohesive plot. Ms. Eugene does a nice job of dropping hints for the reader to pick up on the "villains" in this story. By providing conflicting information, it creates doubt in the reader's mind. This technique is nicely used a couple of times.

The sex in this story is sweet between Maggie and Gabe. It's amusing because Ms. Eugene interjects Maggie's OCD at odd times. Joking about Maggie's obvious mental problems is done in a teasing manner which is kind of endearing. As a friend of several OCD type people, I get it.

The character building is what brings this story down for me. I personally didn't like Maggie. She's not the type of main character I like - female, male or otherwise. I found her to be annoying and irrational. I'm sure there are people like her. I just tend to avoid them. For example, if a woman can't fight or use a gun, why the HELL would she want to go to confront the person they think is trying to kill them? How is this possibly going to help the situation? Now she's a liability to Gage. There is one part where Gage shows her once how to load a gun into a magazine. Then she remembers it and loads it with a bit of fumbling. Now, loading a magazine is pretty easy. Still, I've seen people load them wrong even after they've been taught. And they also try to put the magazine in backwards. My bigger question is, why the hell was the magazine empty to begin with? This makes no sense since Gage is former special forces.

Gabe's character is strange to me. He's this wounded warrior with a silver spoon in his mouth. He's a little too perfect in his brains and brawn. While he's a dreamy stud any breathing girl would like to fuck, he just didn't do it for me. Again, personal preference. If I don't like the characters, it makes the book a hard read for me.

What I really liked about this story is the research Gabe stole. This device sounds absolutely awesome. The geek in me is delighted. When Ms. Eugene takes it a step further and shows the military application, my jaw dropped. Usually, I'm the one who immediately goes to how something good can be used for bad. I didn't think of the downside to this wonderful medical device. I liked this part quite a bit.

One minor thing that threw me. Ms. Eugene is a nurse. The scene with Maggie saving Gabe's life at the beginning confused me. Because it's not medically accurate and it's not what those with medical training would do. This little detail bothered me but most won't notice it or care. It's minor details which makes a book a little less polished for me. If this wasn't set in a contemporary setting, I would have let it go. Basically, if a person is still breathing, do NOT do mouth to mouth. There is no reason to do so; they are breathing on their own. Yes, there are several ways to check to see if a person is breathing without fancy machinery. For Maggie not to realize Gage was breathing just dumbfounded me. Lastly, based on the more current EMT training now, they are teaching people to just do CPR if the heart has stopped. Don't do the mouth to mouth. Still, this is just a minor detail which threw me.

The ending did not come as a surprise. The twists were good and what I predicted would happen. I'm glad Ms. Eugene brought it to the conclusion and resolution I was anticipating. It's a bit depressing but it worked.

This romantic suspense is for readers who like the happily ever afters and a quirky female lead.

FIVE STOLEN, GOLDEN STARS!!!!!

What a freakingly amazing book we have here! I swear, I could not put this down since I started it and I have not slept!

Literally

From the moment I started this book, intrigue shackled me and I was in no way complaining! Gabe is such a sexy, raw-animalistic, confident bad-ass hunk of man! I was instantly in awwww of him, then it turned to lust...and I down right fucking love him.

He is an ex- navy SEAL... He's like a fucking ninja...
He is just.... AMAZING!!!

There is so much too him. The more I found out about it, the more the puzzled fit perfectly I just found myself hypnotized even more and I loved it!

I found myself drooling over his description and omg... Gabe is just awesome. And not only that - he is funny! All sides of Gabe is worth getting to know, getting to love..getting to lust!! Fucking. Worth. IT!!

He has a body that just BEGS to be licked and worshiped.

His manliness was so hot. I found myself giggling like a school girl each time he openly fixed his erection to get more comfortable.

Or let's not forget their first sexual encounter...

Seriously, Gabe... get your sexy ass over to my house..NOW.

I love that sexy hobo dammit.

:D

I love his dedication too. He is such a good man, but believes otherwise. The demons he battles with every day consumes a little of him each time and it was painful... especially getting to know his background. My heart seriously went out to him.

And since I couldn't be there for him physically - Bless Maggie's soul.

That neurotic nurse! :D

She is so funny, fierce and just... crazy! I found myself chuckling at her antics - her attempts at escaping and her rationalizations during odd times! lmao.

Reading her was an added bonus (hell as far as I can tell, reading something in this book is a bonus in itself!)

I went into this book knowing it was about a kidnapping - knowing that she was a germ-phobia... I got the jitz of it. Knew I would have my fair share of laughter, high temperature and happiness at simply reading it.

I like the effortlessness of how they got closer, despite him kidnapping her of sorts. It was like the wooving threading clothing. Calm, smooth...EROTIC... and just wow you know?

I love how they battled with their emotions, skirted around the obvious and stayed quiet, yet their emotions and actions spoke such volumes, it was deafening.

The villain was good - I loved to hate him :D
The big shock factor and the truths unfolding just left a big what the fuck ingrained in my senses and it's still sizzling so fucking good!

Just...Words escape me truly.

What I didn't expect was the thrill behind the mysteries, the little jobs...the chase... This whole book was a burst of exhilaration - a roll-coaster plummeting into the unknown... I fucking love it all!!

Everything was meticulously thought out and described perfectly. It was like watching a very detailed movie... and their was no pause button!!

And then the very ending just had me chuckling.

It was sweet, hot and funny.

What more (aside from not ending) could I ask for???

You'll Want to Give Gabe Your Body Nevermind Him Stealing Your Heart!!

“This man was her captor, yet he freed her soul; he’d caused her agony, yet also delivered peace; every touch was euphoric pleasure, and still every word promised pain and heartbreak.” – Maggie

“If you don’t get off my lap right now, you’re going to be naked and riding me until this thing in my pants calms down!” - Gabe

This is Lisa Eugene’s second book and I can really “see” the growth in her style. Her prose is crisp. Her descriptions more vivid and colorful. It’s a good thing for us as readers. Steal My Heart opens with our hero (I use the term loosely) being chased by some bad guys a-la Jason Bourne. Our heroine Maggie is an OR nurse. She’s also a germophobe of the highest order. OCD your name is Maggie. Gabe ends up kidnapping Maggie but it’s for her own good – really – bad guys wanna end her. They are both running for their lives with a flash drive full of confidential information. Yet they both have to contend with this screaming hot attraction between them. Oh! Wait! Did I mention Maggie’s very gay BFF David? He is fab-u-lous!

Check out one of my fave swoon worthy lines from Gabe - “I need to feel you, baby. So hot, so wet…so damn good…” Yes Gabe you give me goosies! Right there I was wishing I could switch places with Maggie and take my chances with the gun toting bad guys. LOL. Here is one from Maggie thinking about her weight that had me chuckling cause I totally get it - ..“she’d struggled to lose the extra weight that enjoyed residing at five foot four Maggie Lawson. PO Box ASS, Zip Code THIGS. Seems it was its permanent address, and she’d come to accept the houseguests.”

Have you ever seen the Mel Gibson movie Payback? You know from the get go that he’s a bad guy. His wife & business partner had done him wrong so you find yourself rooting for him. That’s how I felt about Gabe. I was torn about his motives but I loved him anyway cause the he involved in something that was much bigger than he imagined. Unknowingly, people he cared about were in peril and now he had to “fix” it. Then he had to contend with his feelings for Maggie and a guy in his position has no business having feelings for a woman. Nevermind, someone with Maggie’s special brand of quirkyness. Maggie is funny though she’s really not trying to be. Her life was safe, quiet and orderly with everything running on a schedule without deviation. Then she gives a “hobo” mouth to mouth and her whole world goes to hell in a hand basket in the blink of an eye.
AND there is a twist, of course, but no, I’m not telling you! What fun would that be if I spoiled it for ya?

The book is fast paced, fun to read and keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next. Steal my Heart gives you adventure, romance and brings the smexy in a really good way. What else could you possibly want? I expect that Lisa’s style will continue to flourish. I’m a reader and a fan so I will continue to enjoy her books.

*There is dubious consent and a little non-con in this book*

Steal My Heart is the story of a germaphobe nurse who gets kidnapped and taken on a wild ride by a hot ex-navy SEAL. Along the way, they’re thrown into danger, deceit, murder, mayhem and betrayal.

So, this review is a little hard for me to write. I have mixed feelings about it. I love military heroes, whether active or retired. I love the idea of falling for someone you wouldn’t normally. I loved the action, the intrigue, the mystery and was totally caught off-guard by the guilty party.

The idea of a germaphobe nurse travelling and wearing the same clothes over and over made me chuckle. Watching how Gabe dealt with her was even better.

The romance between Gabe and Maggie was hot. Gabe learning to let others in and learning to love was great. I also love that Maggie was a full figured woman. And the descriptions matched that. It was just lip service. This hot SEAL falling for a full figure woman was awesome.

So, where was my problem with the story? There quite a few words I had to stop and look up. I have a pretty decent vocabulary and I rarely have to look up words when reading romance novels. However, I found myself being pulled from the story and forced to look up words. It tended to disrupt the flow for me.

The first half of the story dragged a bit for me. This may have been because I kept getting pulled from the story. However, the last half really picked up the pace.

The last 25% was rolling fast and furious and I couldn’t read fast enough. It was full of action and passion.

The best part? The conclusion! Nope, not gonna tell. You’ll have to read it. But, let’s just say, the ultimate guilty party was a surprise to me. Plus, how it all ended up being resolved was AWESOME! I liked that ending!

Now, what did the vagina say to the rabbi? (read the book, you’ll understand the question!)

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

It took me a bit to get my thoughts together to review this book. I had read so many great reviews about it and I had been going through a pretty good reading jag, so I guess my expectations were high. I was a little put out that this book wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Unfortunately, I felt there were just too many long drawn out descriptions of locations. I know every book has it and needs it so you can get a full picture in your head of what you are reading. But it just felt like there was all description and no actual action happening.

I didn't really feel any real chemistry between Gabe and Maggie, either. For someone as bright as she was, she did a lot of dumb thing. Maggie's friend David was the best thing about the book. He was hilarious, but not in the story much.

I can't say I would recommend this book. I would think that if you want a quick mindless read, then maybe this book. It was just okay to me.

Gabe is an ex-Seal who has hooked up with Maggie (a sort of germaphobe). What starts out as an innocent act of kindness to an injured hobo, turns into so much more. The characters were likeable, so too the story. It was a hot, sexy suspenseful, action packed romance. Dropped a little right at the end, but otherwise a good read.

I wasn't sure at the beginning I was going to like it, it was kind of slow and Maggie was a bit annoying but the book gained speed and I ended loving it.

Although I would have liked a longer ending, but it was still funny and I enjoyed it a lot.

What happens when you combine a dirty old hobo and an obsessive-compulsive clean freak? Pure Magic!

STEAL MY HEART is a winner! Author Lisa Eugene combines a bit of humor with a healthy dose of steam and ends up with this romantic treasure. I love it when the most unlikely characters turn out to be a match made in heaven.

Nurse Maggie Lawson is truly fanatical about cleanliness; in fact, I would say it pretty much runs her life. The inner dialogue Maggie has with herself is hysterical; she’s a total nut and I loved her for it! A prime example of her nuttiness upon her recollection of an adventure she had with her BFF, David, to the “grocery store of genital goodies” also known as a sex shop:

He’d teased her mercilessly because of the wig and dark glasses she’d insisted on wearing, and repeatedly assured her that she looked like the only weirdo pervert in the store, especially after she’d spent a great deal of time questioning the manager about the most efficacious ways of cleaning and sterilizing the device she’d reluctantly purchased. After being referred to the manufacturer, she’d finally gotten some answers, and had even made suggestions that he assured her would be added as an insert with the product. She’d been thrilled to offer her expertise on infection control.

When Ex-Navy SEAL, Gabe Masters stumbles into Maggie’s life dressed like a dirty old hobo, she had no idea her boring old life would never be the same - *thank God!* Gabe is all rugged and hot, bossy male, I mean, come on! He’s an Ex-Navy SEAL *RAWR* Enough said! Although they are both intent on denying their mutual attraction, I knew it was only a matter of time. Maggie and Gabe have unbelievable chemistry… I just knew they were going to get it on like a house on fire once they dropped the pretense of disinterest. At first, I felt a little bit sorry for her when her prefect and pristine little world began to crumble like confetti around her – but WAIT! Confetti is fun! Being dirty is fun! Gabe and his dirty boy ways are exactly what Maggie needs in order to learn how fun being dirty can be and I can't think of a better way to illustrate that than with one of my favorite scenes:

“Hmmm…no shower?” He frowned sternly, acting appalled. But his lips twitched with amusement.
“Gabe, please, no teasing…” Her hips started to rock against the finger that dipped into her, and she groaned at the feel of his stiff shaft against her hip.
“But Maggie, we’re so sweaty and…dirty.”
She wanted to kill him…maybe after. “Gabe!”
“Is it okay if we’re dirty, Maggie?”
A wicked smile played on his lips, and Maggie had the feeling he wasn’t speaking literally. Oh shit! Her nipples pebbled hard and her hips bucked.
“Well?”
Her brain was malfunctioning. “What?”
“You want it dirty?” He swirled his finger inside her.
All she could manage was a weak nod.
“Say it.”
“Oh God...Gabe.” She could barely get her tongue to work with what he was doing to her.
“I want to hear you say it.”
“Gabe…”
“You don’t get it if you don’t say it.” He brushed his wet tongue up her neck, inciting a riot inside her.
“I…I want it di…dirty.”

STEAL MY HEART was such a sexy and fun read, filled with quirky humor and laced with a little mystery - an excellent combo in my opinion. This is the second book I have read by author Lisa Eugene and I haven't been disappointed thus far. You can bet I will be stalking her shelf to see what she has in store for the future!

Steal My Heart by Lisa Eugene is a novel I normally would not read because the blurb makes it seem much too Harlequin for me. But I'm surprised to tell you that this was a fierce novel!

You have Maggie Lawson, a germaphobe operating room nurse, who can't catch a break one night when she's forced to save a dying homeless man on a subway after being forced to ride said subway because her friend had too many stains in the car. I think Maggie's character was very realistic. I've met plenty of germaphobes in my life, and they all seem to act the way Maggie does. There were times in the book where it got to be a bit annoying, but I think I was annoyed because not everything has to be clean all the time in my head. You almost forget she suffers from an illness.

Bring in Gabe Masters. Hot. Sexy. Ex-Navy Seal. Homeless man on subway? When he first meets Maggie, he won't let her go... physically. She saves him on the subway and he gives her something that holds huge importance to his job. As he works his way through the novel, he becomes a man full of so many secrets, but underneath it all there is a huge opening in his heart where we all know Maggie would fit in just perfectly.

Together the two of them have amazing chemistry. They challenge each other, but have a soft spot for each other as well. I loved the way they interacted, whether it was out of hate, love, or annoyance they had a good thing going on. They are the type of book couple that I would love to see more of.

This is not your ordinary romance novel. There is so much mystery and suspense that takes over that at some points I forgot I was reading a romance novel. The suspense was written so well. I thought the ending was going to go one way and then it did a 180 degree flip. Lisa has a wonderful writing style. I would recommend reading any other books by her!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars!

(This actually got a 4.5 on my blog, but unfortunately, Goodreads still doesn't let me have my .5 ratings.)

After reading and enjoying 'Strictly Business' by Ms. Eugene, I decided that I would like to read her second book. I had already made that decision when I agreed to proof read this one before release, so I got to read it before release! I feel special. ;)

Seriously, though… I really enjoyed this one. I found Maggie and Gabe to be more three-dimensional than the characters in Strictly Business, and the reasons that kept them apart from an actual relationship to be less contrived. Having a heroine who was terrified of germs was kind of fun, especially in all of the situations she ended up in. True, I found that phobia to be a little transient at times, but one forgives that for the sake of the story and the romance. It still worked and never disappeared.

Gabe was another great alpha male. Their initial “true” meeting (in her apartment) does tread a little close to being…uncomfortable, but for my tolerance, Eugene kept it in the right side of the lines.

I found the story and the romance to be very intense and gripping. There were times that I had to remind myself that I was editing because I was wrapped up in the story, less because of the suspense/mystery (though that was good too) but more because I just kept wondering how things were going to roll out in such a seemingly untenable situation to lead us to the happy ending.

Also, this book was funnier. A few points had me laughing out loud, especially the ending. Like most fiction suspense, it requires a little suspension of reality, but I found it to be an engaging and entertaining read, along with a pretty hot love story. Not quite a 5 for me–as I’m stingy with the 5s, but a 4.5!

4.5 stars.

Lordy! What.A.Ride!

An OR nurse and certified germaphobe meets an Ex-Navy SEAL, and life as she knew it goes out of the window. Now dead bodies are piling up, villains are pointing guns to her head, and solving the mystery becomes not only a matter of life and death, it's about securing the benefit of mankind!

This book is fast paced with a lot of action. It's funny, suspenseful and has a quirky, overweight heroine and a hunkydelicious badass hero...aaannnddd lots of sex.
Lots and lots of sex...
Plenty, so to speak!
A prerequisite is, however, that the reader is willing to suspend her disbelief at the beginning. But once this is accomplished, you will be so willing to go with the flow. Unbelievable!

It's really a pity that I had to subtract the half star but real five star reads to me are the ones that make me feel like I am a temporary resident of the Twilight Zone. With this one I “only” had the feeling like I was standing at the door of this alternative universe and something kept me from crossing the threshold.
Maybe this has to do with the following sentence and the effect it had on the female protagonist:
Her gaze scraped over his broad chest with its defined pectorals and deep grooves that formed the grid of his abs. ...A sluggish warmth had started to flow low in her belly...
This sentence is repeated all throughout the whole book in its countless variations despite the fact that I was able to visualize the hero after the third time or so....
I got the message! Really!

Defined pectorals, my oh my!

I felt like I needed to wash my hands 10 times when I finished this book, entirely because Maggie would want me to!
This was a dirty book and I loved it! People were just plain messy and there were some nasty (in a VERY good way) sex scenes.
I felt for Maggie as she was kidnapped by her dirty hobo and forced to wear the same dirty clothes after taking several showers to get herself clean.
Gabe is quite the character and I liked him a lot. I loved his resourcefulness and how he dealt with all of Maggie's idiosyncrasies. I mean who wouldn't love a guy who would help you blow dry the dry sheets on a hotel room bed to make sure the bed bugs were all dead!
My heart broke for Gabe when we found out who betrayed him but it soared for him when Maggie came to the rescue. What a brave little germaphobe!
Maggie made me chuckle when she started worrying about Stockholm syndrome the first day she was with him. It's called sexual attraction Maggie!!
One thing that had me wondering was the fact that this is the first book in a series titled Washington Memorial Hospital. The only thing that connected them to the hospital was that she said she worked there and he was there for a few hours before escaping.

I loved this book, I loved Gabe, it was apparent from the start that he cared for Maggie, "he sighed. His fingers forked into the waves of her hair. He cradled her head and butted their foreheads. "What am I going to do with you?" he whispered." They have the strangest relationship especially after having sex for the first time together, "she'd reverted back to glaring at him and him growling at her. He was glad. The last thing he want at this hour of the night was a hysterical woman ranting and raving at him for making her come - twice." He's really attracted to Maggie's assets, "his gaze lingered. The wet fabric molded to her butt, emphasizing her generous curves. He loved her derriere. J-Lo had nothing on her. Dazed, he realized he could stare at it all day." It's not just her butt he likes, she has other assets he likes as well, "your breasts are amazing, and you're not wearing a bra." He nodded toward the objects of his interest. "They're very distracting." He's a vocal man and doesn't mind stating what he wants, "I want to eff you, Maggie," he whispered harshly, delving a finger deep into her channel. "God, I need you." I can't wait to read more from this series.

I was offered a free copy of this book for my honest opinion. That’s exactly what I gave it!

I give this book 5 stars! (Well in this case roses!) This book is face pace, plenty of action, with steamy sex scenes! This book had me on the edge of my seat and I could not put it down! This is a great read! You should read it! Hang on to your seats though!

Not what I was expecting. The Hero does "jobs" that are illegal. I thought this was an undercover schtick based on the synopsis.

There was a LOT of sex scenes. I'm a story sort of reader so I didn't care for all that pages used on just sex.

After all the crazy events happening throughout the book, I think the ending swept a lot of issues under the rug.

David is great.

Why did I want to read this book? Big thanks to the blurb telling that our main character is an OR nurse. Oh yes, it had caught my interest because if you haven't known it yet, I'm an operating room nurse as well. Good thing that this book did not disappoint me. Steal My Heart started with an action-packed, heart-stopping scene that will have you gripping your readers.

We are introduced to Maggie, an operating room nurse with an obsessive compulsive disorder. (This disorder seemed to run through a lot of OR nurses, me included.) She lives inside her little sterile bubble until a hot hobo decided to pop it. Their first meeting - it was epic! It's one of the reasons why I go home right after my duty and don't roam around the city in my white uniform. :)

some_text

Then there's the dark and dangerous Gabe, her hot hobo. They met in the most unusual circumstances, and after she 'saved' his life (reluctantly) - her life was no longer the same. He likes his solitude. His latest assignment however, have gone awry and he almost didn't escape alive. In order to safe-keep the data he stole, he placed it in the nurse's pocket. He breaks into his apartment, and he took more than the drive with him. Suddenly, it was not only the data he needs to protect. He needed to protect Maggie too. The question is, from who? What they don't know and realize is that their enemy is much more closer than they think.

Although Maggie tried to place her attraction as Stockholm Syndrome - in which one falls in love with the captor - she couldn't deny the attraction and the sexual chemistry that is brewing between them. The moment it exploded, she realized that not all dirty are bad. Some can be pretty... orgasmic. But can he trust her heart to the man who is constantly walking away?

Steal My Heart have really stolen my heart because it started very strong - and yet the adrenaline rush carried on to the middle and right just before the end. I'm not just talking about action scenes here, the steamy scenes were as intense as the crazy chase. Lisa Eugene rewarded her readers with a sweet, funny ending to wrap it all up, just enough to have your cardiac rates back to normal.

(Just a thought though, how can she possibly work inside the OR if she detest body fluids? We are so exposed to that and many more every hour of the shift, although we do have our protective gears.)

*I received this book free from Barclay Publicity in exchange for an honest review*

Maggie Lawson is an OR nurse at Washington Memorial Hospital and is the cleanest person I have ever heard of. Trust me there are no germs anywhere around this germaphobe. On her way home from work she stumbles into a hobo that really needs some medical attention. Of course Maggie’s luck, she has on scrubs and everyone is now looking at her to give that medical attention to the dirty man lying at her feet.

“What she wouldn’t give for a surgical mask right now!

Gabe Masters, oh hell yes! Gabe is an Ex-Navy SEAL, masculine and HOT! Did I say hot? Gabe provides his services with no questions asked to some very wealthy clients. After escaping the hospital he must track down the nurse that saved his life - it’s easy for him to do since he has her wallet - because he must get back a disc drive that he stashed on Maggie while she was saving him.

Gabe does everything possible to get information from her about the drive, including but not limited to walking on her floors with boots, using her shower, toothbrush and kidnapping her. It cannot end well with a woman that leads a pretty boring life until this dangerous man entered it. With them both on the run to stay alive, find out what is on the drive and stop a crazy man from getting the information that Gabe was paid to provide will definitely be a challenge.

This book is hilarious with Maggie’s crazy brain and smart mouth. The story holds a lot of suspense and flows really well, even bringing in the people we grew to love in Strictly Business.

On to reading Book 3 of the Washington Memorial Hospital – Surrender My Love.

My Favorite Quote: “If you don’t get off my lap right now, you’re going to be naked and riding me until this thing in my pants calms down!”

This book starts with Maggie, not your usual nurse as she can't stand mess, germs etc. She loves working in the OR because she can keep it clean and sterile. She refuses a lift home from her best friend because he won't clean a stain off his car seat. In a huff, he drives off and leaves her to make her own way home. Because of this circumstance, Maggie is on hand when Gabe shows up with a gunshot wound and not breathing.

After an ordeal, she finally makes it home and tries to put it behind her. But Gabe has given her something which he needs back. And it's not just him that's after it. So are 'the bad guys'. Reluctantly at first, Maggie is dragged into Gabe's world as they try to figure out all the twists and turns that occur in this book.

This story is full of action, both between the sheets and out. There is a definite storyline going on, so if you're expecting just a book of sex scenes, then you'd be mistaken. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of sex scenes too but they are actually part of the story instead of just gratuitous. One category that this book doesn't seem to fall under in Amazon is humour. I loved the relationship between Maggie and Gabe, Maggie and David, David and Gabe... need I go on? There is love and friendship between them all and a good dollop of humour that you always have between friends.

Through an error on Goodreads (now sorted) this is actually the first book in the series I have read, albeit that it should have been number 2. However, this book is completely readable as a standalone so I don't feel like my enjoyment has been shortened in any way. I'm off to read book 1 now.
