I love a good self-help book, especially if it has easy and manageable approaches to share. The Work Happiness Method has that in spades. You can start little and work your way up to the big items. Some of the methods and action items aren't new, I've read about them in other leadership books, but I did appreciate the way it was framed. I also REALLY appreciated that you didn't have to write in the book. You could and there was space for readers to write down their steps and to dos, but the author provided QR codes to printable worksheets. Huzzah! That's more my speed! I hate writing in non-spiral bound books! Readers will get the most out of this if they read the book in small chunks and really focus on the 8 different skills. This is a self-help/leadership book that I will definitely refer back to! I really liked the examples that were provided as well!

So, I think this book is helpful for people who need to look at their world differently. To see things with a positive mindset in order to truly find happiness in their lives, especially if they hate their jobs or feel stuck.

As someone who loves their job, I will agree with everything Grizont is saying in this book because I did all of these things over the years, and it works. If I could describe how I fixed my job situation (where I fell in love with my job instead of feeling like it was just a paycheck and had no meaning), it would be this book.

While I did not learn anything new, I think others would benefit from reading this book.

In The Work Happiness Method, Stella Grizont explored the eight keys she learned to master a better working attitude and environment. She begins by sharing how she worked for a coaching and training company for ten years in brand strategy. She soon realized that she wasn’t happy and wasn’t living up to her full potential. She began to catch common colds and was depressed. It took her a while to rediscover what she wanted to do instead. She first went back to school to study happiness’s also known as Applied Positive Psychology. She was able to help other women launch their businesses and she helped Google and Johnson & Johnson. She was still struggling with anxiety. In the book, she shared the 8 keys: resilience, purpose, play, discovery, boundaries, just to name a few.

One of my favorite chapters was about boundaries. She shared how burnout affects one in three people and they feel often burned out. This can lead to people wanting to quit their jobs. They experience exhaustion, cynicism, and inefficacy. She revealed what the job demand resources model is and how it happens. We all face many demands that takes away our energy. It could be conflict, taking on too many tasks, and not receiving any help. Resources are things that can boost our energy. This could be making meaningful relationships and work. She has an excellent worksheet to use to track for a week everything that make us feel energetic and things that don’t. She looked at boundaries and how if we set them properly, they can assist us in finding balance. She explored the mechanics of stress and how our bodies can’t recognize threats as real or mentally.

I would recommend this awesome book on finding work place happiness to anyone who is struggling with burnout or having trouble finding their purpose. I appreciated how she also opened up about her mother’s cancer diagnose and how this led her to being more proactive in her own health. She went into detail about her own anxieties and what if’s. This book was very well researched on happiness and how we can learn new techniques to help us at our jobs.

“I received this book free from the Hachette for my honest review.”

I rarely come across a book that feels both practical and deeply inspiring, but The Work Happiness Method by Stella Grizont truly struck that balance. From the very first chapter, I felt like I was having a conversation with a mentor who genuinely cares about helping me navigate the challenges of modern work life. Grizont doesn’t sugarcoat the struggles we face in today’s fast-paced, competitive environment she acknowledges them but she empowers you with tools to take control rather than leaving you feeling stuck.

What I love most about this book is its clarity and actionable approach. The 8 essential skills Resilience, Clarity, Purpose, Boundaries, and others aren’t just buzzwords; each comes with practical exercises, real world examples, and insights backed by science. I found myself pausing often to reflect and implement her guidance immediately. For anyone feeling disengaged, overwhelmed, or simply craving more meaning in their work, this book is a wake up call your happiness at work is your responsibility, but the roadmap is right here.

Beyond the exercises, I appreciated the way Grizont blends psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral economics without ever making it feel like a lecture. It’s approachable, honest, and refreshingly free of corporate fluff. After reading this, I feel not only motivated but also equipped to make tangible changes in how I approach my career and daily work life.

In short, The Work Happiness Method isn’t just another career book it’s a guide to taking ownership of your happiness, finding fulfillment, and actually looking forward to the workday. I can honestly say it has already started to shift how I think about my career, and I’m excited to see where applying these skills will take me.

Review of audiobook
Read by Winsome Brown

The Work Happiness Method is a well-organized combination of social and biological sciences created to help promote job satisfaction. The content will be familiar to anyone who has read many of the popular books on happiness or mindfulness but Grizont provides a helpful framework for its application in a challenging work environment. It is an easy audiobook to listen to. The narration is delivered in an even, neutral tone and the chapters break the book into sections that help keep the pace moving along. The author opens the audiobook with a prologue and introduction but then the rest of the book is read by a narrator. I believe it would have been better if the author had narrated the whole thing. There are quite a few activities for practicing the methods application and I would advise the reader to have those accessible beforehand. Websites were given and I was able to access the content to use alongside the free audiobook I received from Hachette Audio and Netgalley. I might come back to listen with the print copy of the book as well to better focus on the workpages.

I listened to a podcast episode with Stella Grizont (How To Be Awesome At Your Job) a little while ago, and it really stuck with me, so I got my local library to order her book. The order took a little over a month to get and came to me at the right time (I do feel small, unnecessary, and micromanaged at work).
The book didn't disappoint. It's practical, with some exercises and examples of what to say (I always struggle with that). I usually don't read the Acknowledgements section. Still, I did this time and haven't regretted it - it is filled with warmth, and coming from a similar cultural background, I could relate to it.
My only critique is that the book could have been a bit more concise.

As far as self-help for work goes, I really feel like this book offers effective tools and prompts to reflect on work and life experiences. The exercises felt purposeful and helped me work toward specifying my "true north." I'm glad I printed out the accompanying workbook pages because the thoughts flowed out easily once I started. Highly recommend this book!

This book came to me at the right time. It is in many ways not revolutionary. It covers imposter syndrome, speaking to power, and specifically speaking for yourself. I think what hit me most was learning to understand what you actually want out of work and framing your role in happiness therein. Maybe a third was not useful but the other two thirds are worth revisiting on a routine basis.

Imposter syndrome, boundaries, control all things we have to deal with are discussed in this eye opening book. Looking at where you are and were you want to be and the way to get there. Great ideas on how to keep your self first.

I listened to this in audiobook format, which made for a light and relaxing experience. The book encourages readers to look at situations with positive mind shift changes, which I think is the main takeaway. The book isn’t life-altering but a get my spirits uplifted.
