Black Knight, Falcon Kenwrec is powerful, relentless, and fiercely loyal, his only allegiance – to his king. But he is torn between duty and desire when the war between the vampire clans and the Red Order hunters escalates and the enemy captures the one woman he longs to claim as his own, Sonya Rebane, Queen of the Voidukas Clan. Falcon will risk everything to save her, even if it means forsaking his king.
After weeks of imprisonment, Sonya is stunned when the chivalrous knight that she has secretly loved from afar appears outside her cell. As they fight and struggle to elude their enemies, they must battle their overwhelming attraction for each other and their love that is forbidden.
As every perilous moment draws them closer together, every smoldering kiss drives them to the brink of a passionate destruction. Will they be able to resist temptation? Or will their love be their ruin?

Number 4 of the Rulers of Darkness Series. This book focused on Sonya and Falcon. Now if you read the previous booms you’d know they both had a thing for each other, but because of vampiric laws they could not be together. Or the consequences would be dire. However, things done always work they are supposed to and well stuff happens. Especially when you got a young Shaman priestess hanging about.
This book honestly for me, was a in between book. The book that I’m more excited to read is the next one Caressed by the Edge of Darkness. This one while it was still a great book, just didn’t float my boat like the others have. Though I do like the Shaman Priestess and am highly intrigued on what her plan is and what the end game is for it.

Rating ~ 4 stars.
This is the fourth book in the Rulers of Darkness series. The series involves the stories of each ruler of the different vampire clans. All the rulers have a time limit on their reign as after two hundreds the curse starts affecting their lives and they are longer capable of taking care of themselves let alone leading their clans. The book is about the remaining ruler and only queen in the vampire clans Sonya and a black knight Falcon.
Falcon Kenwrec is a black knight and second in heir for the Hadrian King of the Validus Clan who was the hero in the previous book Caressed by a Crimson Moon. He is very fiercely loyal which was shown in the last book as he rather than take the crown himself kept the peace in clan and remained loyal to his sire Hadrian who at that time was going mad.
Falcon's internal monologue: "He would barter what remained of his soul to save his Sonya."
Sonya Rebane is the Queen of the Voidukas Clan, known as the warrior queen. She is also the reason that there are no longer any werewolves in the world because she killed all of them because of them butchering her family. She has been in love with Falcon since meeting him years ago.
Sonya to Falcon: "I’ve loved you for two hundred years and I will never stop loving you,”
They have in love with each other since meeting fifteen hundred years ago. And with every moment that passes their love for each other grows. Though they have denying their love because a black knight and the queen can't be together and the punishment for which is quite severe.
Falcon: “You would be stripped of your title and banished as an outcaste,” he said, his voice low and rough. Sonya: “And you would be sentenced to death.”
In the last book, Sonya allows herself to be kidnapped by the witches because of the shaman. Falcon goes alone to save her. Which was good not in the sense that poor Falcon had to save her without any help which he did quite splendidly I believe but because it gave them time alone together.
This a book that I had been waiting for quite a while now and I do think that the author did the character and their story justice. From the get go we see the connection that Sonya and Falcon have. As the story progressed we see how much they truly love and care about each other. There are some interesting twists and turns to keep the reader guessing of how and if they would actually end up together.
We see glimpses of other future couples like the shaman witch and Gabriel's second and Gabriel's and the singer girl from the bar I believe will be his heroine.
Overall I really liked the book, the book has action, some sexy times and some emotional moments. The book had the right amount of everything to make it a great PNR read. I can't wait for Gabriel's book who I believe will get the next book. Happy reading!
Before Release:
WHEN IS THIS COMING OUT !!! I have been waiting and waiting GOD.
Caressed By Shadows Book 4 Rulers of Darkness series Gifted copy for honest review 3 Stars
First off I want to stress I am so invested in these characters and love them all. I love the storylines and how Ms. Greene brings everything to fruition. She has a beautiful talent for bringing to life this wonderful world she has created and giving us characters we might just want as friends for ourselves. I won't go into details of the how the story unfolded as that is usually already done by others detailing all the events. I will say I enjoyed Falcon and Sonya's story and felt it was fitting how they came together and were able to stay together. Lovely plotting on Ms. Greene's part, very well done. For the above reasons I would give this book a solid 4.5 stars. I look forward to the next book in the series which will feature Gabriel and newcomer Jordan. I am already anxiously awaiting that installment. Now for why I rated this only 3 stars. I am not sure if this particular rendition is a final draft or not, but it read like a first draft. The grammatical errors were atrocious and so distracting it took away from not only the flow of the book but also the complete enjoyment I could have had while reading it. This rendition was literally littered with grammar errors on every single page, in almost every paragraph. I have noticed on Amazon that Ms. Greene names a couple of editors along with her own name, these editors are not doing your stories justice in any way if they aren't noticing missing words, misused words, words that shouldn't be in the sentence at all, and most of all words out of order in a sentence. My frustration in reading this book was off the charts, it took me days to read what I would have normally read in one sitting. There really is nothing worse than having to stop the flow of reading to try and figure out what the author was or should have written. It absolutely kills me to lower my rating for a story that was in essence a great story just because of the grammar errors, but I can not in good conscience give it a higher rating. Does this grammar Nazi intend to stop reading this series because of this fact? Heck no, I love these characters and the stories the author brings to life, even with the overwhelming amount of frustration I felt reading this book the underlying fact is Ms. Greene has developed a fantastic world with awesome characters that have depth and personality. With that said I will be impatiently waiting for the next installment. Would I recommend this series, you bet I would, but be warned of the grammatical errors that lay within the pages.
After having read my way through the first box-set of this series and loving all the dark and dangerous, sexy vamps and their heroic heroines; and, I feel, being very forgiving of the lack of editing, missing words and the formatting issues, I just can’t do it anymore.
I was looking forward to Sir Falcon’s and Queen Sonya’s story. I’ve loved him from the beginning; his honour, his patience and his dedication. And Sonya, a warrior Queen, dangerous, seductive and sexy (and in this instance, the heroine was not a virgin – yay, go 21st century!), I’ve always wanted them to get together. But for me the story was ruined. I’m a slow, methodical reader. I read every word. And when, in the heat of the moment, I have to interpret the authors meaning because words used are incorrect or missing, the narration becomes rather clunky and it gets very annoying.
Don’t get me wrong, Amanda has created a rollicking yarn and I’m truly on board with all the characters and the world she’s put them in, but the story suffers and I don’t like that it’s let down by an oversight such as this.
Will I be forgiving enough to read a further story? I’m not sure. I really want to know what’s going on with Gabriel. Will he rescue the lovely Jordan from the clutches of the diabolical Boras before he makes her a bleeder; and with Silvie, the Shaw Priestess, and the hunky vampire, Gannon, who is forbidden to her because all Shaw women in such position must remain chaste (yeah, right – how archaic). Of course I want to know how she manages to get around this stipulation. So yeah, I probably will. And I know very few manuscripts are perfect, the odd word error or misuse in the context they’re (there, their) written. I’m not a grammar fiend, I’m not expecting perfection. I would, however, in this instance appreciate a little more respect as a reader and someone who is paying money (although, of course if I’m honest, these books are not expensive – but does that really matter) for these books to receive a little more editorial attention before they grace the seller’s bookshelves.
I don’t know what it was but I couldn’t get as enthralled into this instalment in the series as I had in the previous books, though I did start to get more intrigued about half way through. It took me a while to connect with them but I did enjoy Falcon and Sonya as characters, the sexual tension between them sizzled and I do like a forbidden/impossible love angle.
Sonya was just as strong and determined as Falcon which is a major positive point in my opinion, no damsel in distress situation which can get a little frustrating at times. I liked the slow progression of Falcon and Sonya giving into each other and when they finally did, the steamy scenes were definitely something to behold, not to mention well written and not cheesy.
I would recommend everyone who loves a good paranormal romance to get started on this series, even though this one didn’t quite meet the level of the previous instalments. I have heard that Silvie’s book is coming up, which I have high hopes for if that is true. I have always found Silvie to be an interesting character so I think I will find her book more enthralling then I did this one. I’d give this read a rating of three stars.
This novel is simultaneously emotional and action packed. Greene tells a brilliantly unique story that has left me reeling. I enjoyed the unique take on vampires and royalty. Greene develops not only her storyline, but the cultures that we encounter in detail while maintaining a fast, forward paced story that will steal your heart.
We’ve gotten to know Falcon quite well throughout the rest of this series, but here he really shines on his own. He goes from being the ‘underdog’ amongst his peers to being the best version of himself. Getting inside Falcon’s head was a real treat. Knowing how and why he does what he does makes him so much more than just a Black Knight following orders. Paired with his fantastically strong yet vulnerable queen, you have a winning pair. I also love the priestess. Her meddling is priceless. She just gives fate a little nudge in the right direction while being nothing but herself.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and am loving the series as a whole. I can’t wait to see what happens next! The hints about Gabriel have left me wondering.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
Very good storyline and suspenseful at times. I really liked Sonya and Falcon's characters and how everything turned out for them in the end. Much better written than the previous installment's sex-a-thon.
This book was very poorly edited. Mistakes on nearly every page, many sentences with missing or wrong words. The mistakes were so bad I had to mentally fill in the blanks myself to make the sentence read correctly, but considering I paid $.99 for the book I can't really complain too much.
The story occasionally switched over to Gabriel and his search for the human girl that Boras is after. It was very intriguing but I felt it kind of disrupted the main story because it had little to do with what was going on. I would have waited until the completion of the story and then written all of this as an epilogue.
I just couldn't connect with the lead charterers and it seemed to drag. Plus this author desperately needs a new editor - wrong word, misspelled words, missing words and wrong names - it was so very distracting. I am looking forward to Gabriel's story though.
I enjoy the flow of the stories and how they all weave together. There are moments when I wonder why the characters don't see what is obvious and in front of them but then, I have the reader's advantage. I would suggest a better proof reader though as there has been a plethora of grammatical and spelling errors that often require a re-reading to make sense. Notwithstanding, the stories are well told and command my attention.
I received this book from the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock. Caressed by Shadows is the forth book in the Rulers of Darkness Series. Sonya is the warrior queen of the Voidukas Clan. Her loyalty is to her clan but she has longed for a handsome Black Knight. Falcon is bound by duty and honor to his king and clan. He is his king's second and loyal companion. Ever since he laid eyes on the stunning Queen Sonya, he cannot stop thinking about her. Their love is forbidden but their attraction undeniable. When Sonya is taken prisoner, Falcon forsakes his king and rushes off to save her. They fight their attraction as they travel back to the safety of their clans. But death is closing in on them and some loves cannot be denied. Will their love end in ruin and death or will love find an impossible way? I was anticipating this story! Falcon is one of my favorite characters. A sweet taste of forbidden fruit. Wonderfully sexy and fun. Sonya's and Falcon's relationship has been developing since book one. Their sexual tension has been bottled up and waiting to explode. I loved the chemistry between the two and the struggles with their forbidden love. Both of them were strong and fierce, loyal to their clans. They struggled between their feelings and their duties. Falcon is definitely a sexy temptation. I wasn't sure if it was just the copy I received but there were some notable grammar errors that took away from the story. I look forward to my other favorite character, Gabriel's book!! I recommend this to fans of the series and to those looking for a short paranormal romance read. I rate this 4.5 fangs.
Caressed by Shadows is the fourth book in the series, and one I was looking forward to. Falcon and Sonya just had to get together! There were just a couple of issues - they were breaking the law if they did, which could result in Falcon's death; Sonya is suffering the throes of the Death Curse; Falcon has such a high sense of honour it threatens to strangle him at every turn. Still, with Silvie's help, there may just be hope for these two.
I would recommend that you read this series in order to get the full enjoyment out of the characters and the situations. With each story, you learn more about the world in which they live, and how they became the vampires they are. Sonya is a warrior queen throughout and makes no pains to hide it. Accept her as she is, or not, she doesn't really care either way. She is a great character who constantly livens things up. Falcon is a good boy in public, and a bad boy in private, so you get the best of both worlds. Their story has been building up over the past couple of centuries, so no insta-love here.
Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the thing that lets it down is the editing. There are constant errors throughout which I'm afraid did jolt me out of the story. There was one scene with Gabriel and Gannon where, at best, half a sentence was completely missing. At worst, it could be more. I love this series, but the editing is a problem.

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Dec 20, 2017
Amanda Greene’s new book, Caressed By Shadows, finally ties in the story of vampires Sonya, the Warrior Queen and Falcon, the Black Knight. Having responsibilities towards their own clans, they both spent 200 years denying and ignoring the forbidden love that was between them.
Caressed by Shadows is a fast read. It's the kind of book you simply cannot put down. Picking up from where the Rulers of Darkness series left off, we find Falcon on a solo mission to rescue Queen Sonya who had been kidnapped by the Red Order in the last book. Sonya is struggling to keep from succumbing to the curse which has begun to overtake her mind. Soon, she knows she will die.
The passion between these two powerful vampires is undeniable, and you will find yourself arguing with Falcon’s solid resolve, praying for Sonya to hold on to her life, and wishing that you could walk into the story and straighten everything out so that they can be together for whatever time is left.
As always this installment of the Rulers of Darkness was thrilling as it unfolded. It simultaneously gets us ready for the next part by teasing us with a little taste of several of the other character's stories. I look forward to reading on to discover exactly how and if peace will come to the vampires and the Red Order witches.
An enjoyable romance, Caressed by Shadows was a lovely read. With its sweet and steamy romance and paranormal thrills, this book was a good read.
Both of the main characters were great. Sonya was tough and definitely a force to be reckoned with. Falcon was strong and a formidable opponent, but also sweet and imminently honorable. I liked them both.
The romance was filled with sexual tension. Sonya and Falcon had loved each other from afar for decades and that led to a lot of pent up lust. I thought that tension was well portrayed and it definitely led to some steaminess. And, these two were sweet together. The cared for each other deeply and it was obvious that each would sacrifice anything for the other.
The plot was well paced and I was kept interested the entire way through. There wasn't really anything special about the book, which is why I didn't give it a higher rating. It wasn't an amazing book, but it was a nice read. I enjoyed the story and the ending wrapped up the romance while leaving a few things open for the next book.
Caressed by Shadows was an enjoyable read that I quite liked. Romance lovers, this might be a book you'll want to check out.

It's been a while since I dipped my toes in this world and, oh, it's good to be back. The vampire politics of the various clans vs the hunters who are determined to wipe them out is so fun. Well, fun from where I'm standing. Probably not so much for the people and/or vampires they're attempting to drop the hammer on.
Good things those vampires have the help of some powerful witches on their side. And, you know, they're fast and strong and downright kickass.
So. Falcon and Sonya. We've seen hints of them in previous books and the forbidden aspect of their previous romance (if you can call it that since they both did their utter best to deny their feelings) made me wonder how they were going to work things out. Between vampire politics and Falcon's loyalty to his king, they seemed doomed to ever reach a HEA.
Not to mention that pesky curse the leaders of the vampire clans have to face if they don't find their destined mate. Madness doesn't look good on most people and it has Sonya in its sights.
Entertaining with some quality sexin', I'm looking forward to the next installment. That setup for book 5 was a doozy!
***Please note, I was gifted this book via the author in exchange for an honest review.***
Oh how I've missed this world. It seems like it's been FOREVER since I've enjoyed this particular group of vamps. I've loved this series from the very beginning and I'm already anxious to get my hands on the next installment.
Caressed by Shadows is Falcon's book, the Black Knight that truly captured my interest in book 3. His attraction and pull towards Queen Sophia runs deep but so does his loyalty to his clan, his King. This leaves him torn and fighting against himself.
While the chemistry between Falcon and Sophia was spot on, this one didn't quite live up to my hopes and expectation. It was still a great read but I felt more like I was reading a sampler. The storyline, the revelations, the side characters, it all felt touched upon verses well developed. I'm not sure what happened here, in some ways I can't quite put my finger on what felt off. I only know that it was missing a certain...something.
With that being said, I can't wait for what Ms.Green comes up with next!
I really enjoy this series, I waited for months and months for this book to finally come out. Falcon is a Black Knight, a warrior for one of the vampire Kings. His job is to protect his King and the people that are in his Clan. Going outside of his King's wishes is not something he has ever done, but when the queen of another clan is kidnapped he will stop at nothing to find her, even if it means breaking all of the rules. Queen Sonya is kidnapped by the Red Order, they are vampire hunters who have been around as long as the vampires have. Their goal is to rid the world of what they consider evil, even if innocent humans are killed in the crossfire. Falcon has been in love with Sonya for many years and she feels the same way, but the rules of the Vampire Clans state that a Queen can never mate with a Black Knight. Being strong and holding out from what they both want gets harder by the minute while they are on the run for their lives. Finally coming home they learn that what they thought was keeping them apart has all changed but will it be enough?
I was given this book by the author and Paranormal Romance & Authors That Rock for an honest review. If you've read the other books, and you should, you know Falcon is a black knight and King Haridan's second and friend. Queen Sonya Rebane is kidnapped by the Red Order and all Falcon can think to do is rescue the Queen. He leaves his king and clan behind to save his love, even though he knows they can never be together. Sonya knew she was going to be kidnapped, she just didn't know the reason why she had to let herself be captured. I really like that Sonya isn't one of those poor helpless damsels in distress, she kicks some serious ass. Can Falcon save Sonya in time? Can they find a way to be together or will they forever suffer? Another action packed paranormal romance with some very well written steamy sex , and a hot as hell hero. Can't wait for the next book.
After 200 years of lusting after each other , a kidnapping a rescue , running for their life's across English soil , fighting Red Order hunters , and death Falcon and Queen Sonya finally give in to their fate . This book as the rest of the series is absolutely hot and amazing . It has a lot of typos and needs to be revised but the story line and characters will suck you in and you won't be able to put the book down until the end . I truly enjoyed it and can't wait for the next book .
It seems like I was waiting forever for this book. I loved the back and forth between Falcon and Sonya. However, the book seemed to be too short for me. Not sure if it was from me being super excited that the book was out and read it too quickly or if the book was truly short. I was very disappointed to see it come to an end. Looking forward to Gannon and Silvie's story. I hope it is not a short read.
I've waited forever for Falcon and Sonya's book lol! Falcon was smoking hot! That's one of the things I adore about this series, the rulers are always hawt! It was cool to see Sonya shed her queen hat and get to act like a normal person. And the epilogue holy crow I can't wait for the next one now!!
I really, really want to give this book five stars. I was thrilled to finally read Falcon and Sonya's story. It didn't disappoint. The story has action and romance, and love throughout. I adored both characters and can't wait to read Gabriel's story. Sadly, it is once again the horrible editing that keeps me from giving this book top marks.
This book is Falcon and Queen Sonya's story. Loved it! There might be some typos in the book but it did not affect my desire in reading and finishing it! I really loved it!!! I'm excited to read the next book!
While this story was not my favorite out of them all, I still really liked it. This one seemed to drag on for to long and left me wondering what's next? The series was awesome though! When is the next?
The beginning was perfect, but the middle kind of dragged on. However it was fast with great scenes at the last p art of the book. I love how the characters are developing.
I choose this rating because of all the misspelt words and misplaced words. Other then that this is a very very go series, the are a page turner from beginning to end. I sincerely look forward to the next one!
I really like this series and the world Ms Greene has made. This book was not my favorite. It dragged and was so repetitive. I think had it had better editing that it could of ranked up high like the other stories. Great set up for Gabriel's story next.
