James paid seventy-five thousand dollars for a week of Leaf's time. But Leaf is falling for James and wants what's between them to be real, so he returns the money, much to James's disbelief, and joy.
Can what started as a transaction turn into a happily ever after for James and Leaf? Find out in this continuation of Shibari Auction House: Leaf.
Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and persuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."
A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.
Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.
Unlike the other installments in the Shibari Auction House series, this part isn’t taking us back to the auction house itself, but is focusing on Leaf and James, the couple from the previous book. Leaf felt himself falling for James and is thus not willing to take James’ money. He is paying it back and decides to spend the previously agreed on week at James’ place without any contractual obligations.
James is very happy about this development and he is slowly introducing Leaf into the sweet sides of BDSM. I liked the trust between them and the sweetness in their interactions. It was nice to get a little more insight in their relationship as the normally very short sequences we get with each couple are too short to really connect with them.
But I also have to admit that I’m looking forward to another auction at the Shibari Auction House - I’m a huge fan of this first thrilling scene.
2.5 stars. For me the weakest part of Shibari Auction House so far... I liked James and Leaf's experimenting in Leaf's book but this one was very repetitive... A lot of the same, a bit too cheesy words all over the place. Sorry, but no :(
As far as kink is concerned, we had very hot sounding and shaving scenes in this one ;)
Still, I'm going to continue that hot and kinky series!
What started as a misunderstanding leading to James buying Leaf's time at an auction in 'Leaf' (book four) continues in book five as a real relationship. As promised, Leaf returns the money to James and, in a way, that allows them to start as equals. Both are very interested in making it work, both want to experiment with BDSM, and it was great to see the figure it all out.
Leaf wants to go to school, but he has to work. Suddenly, with James asking for his full attention, that seems a lot more important than anything else. As their week passes, they get closer and closer with each kinky thing they do. Leaf loves it and even if some ideas scare him at first, the trust he already has for James make him want to experiment.
James is ecstatic that he's found Leaf. He is also determined to show him how good they are for each other, and uses the week they've agreed on spending together, money or no money, to make sure Leaf knows how adored he is. His inner Dom blossoms under Leaf's honest reactions and attention.
If you like stories about men who discover a whole range of new, kinky sensations together, if you like your Doms loving and yet pushy, and if you want to find out how James and Leaf from book four are doing, you will probably like this short story.
These two books, Leaf and James, both covered the same couple. Needless to say, they got the most coverage so far, and they had the most BDSM content, and I loved just loved Leaf so much! James was amazing too. They were both so perfect, maybe unrealistically perfect but I loved it. My favourite book so far.
I had mixed feelings when I found out that this was a continuation of #4. I was relieved to get more of their story, as #4 ended abruptly. But then I was grumpy that I had to buy two books to get one complete story.
I'm still grumpy about that, but I'm glad that Leaf and James's story feels more complete now.
Some Favorite Quotes: "I don't think you need to go away to be home."
There’s something comforting and very sexy about Sean Michael’s books. His stories are always a guilty pleasure for me. He’s one of those authors that when I receive a book written by him, I have to drop everything and immediately read it. He has an easy writing style that I appreciate and his characters are always smoking hot!
James begins where the book, Leaf, left off. Leaf has turned down the seventy-five thousand dollars offered to him, by James, just so there are no expectations between them. Leaf wants his time with James to be one of just exploring and getting to know each other, without any money being exchanged between them.
James is thrilled with this, but he’s also afraid that once the week is over, Leaf will go on his merry way. He is drawn to the sweet and innocent man and hopes that after a week of pure bliss together; Leaf will want to have something more and substantial between them. Will James and Leaf be able to build a relationship between them in the short amount of time that they have together?
I really enjoyed this book. It’s the fifth book in the Shibari Auction House series and it’s definitely a good one. The chemistry between James and Leaf is a strong one and I enjoyed watching them form a bond together. I do wish the book had been longer. I would have loved to see how they really incorporate their lives together, but for a short and sexy read, this book is definitely a satisfying read.
James is the 5th book in the Shibari Auction House series. Although, it probably could be read as a stand-alone in the series, I do not recommend it. I would at least read, Leaf, before I began this one since it continues the story of these two characters.
James is a short and sexy read that is sure to please those looking for a hot and quick romance. Fans of Mr. Michael will rejoice at this continuation of the series and like me, they’ll be as anxious as I am to see what happens next!
Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Author Strangely enough I hadn't read any of the previous books in this series. That is a big mistake if this story is anything to go by. It reads very well on it's own but has sex scenes so hot they scorch the page and I want to read the others soonest.
