I picked this up thinking it might make a nice children's gift but I've changed my mind. The book itself is very nice--hardcover, heavy pages, cute and colorful illustrations. Unfortunately, I am not on-board with the storytelling. I am aware of the Veggie Tales franchise but have never really been exposed to it so that may be a bit of the problem but it's the format I can't approve. The Veggie characters tell a tale based on a Bible story but with different details followed by telling a version closer to the real Bible story. Each comes with a practical lesson and a Bible verse. I am OK with the simplified story and actual verse and I think it could stand alone as a relatable way to teach a practical lesson but the fictional version told first seems very unnecessary and worse, it's confusing. I give it 2 stars for the reasons already listed and for an introduction to God but mixing fiction with the infallible truth of the Bible would seem counter-productive and would necessitate a lot of parental education on what is fiction and what is Biblical truth.

This book is one of my son's FAVORITE books. He loves reading it and will just sit and flip through the pages by himself for long periods of time. I like the 20+ stories with Veggie Tale characters (many based on the Veggie Tale videos) and after each story is the actual Bible story that the Veggie Tale story was based on. The stories are short and will keep the kids attention. Highly recommend this book to others! Target age group is ~2-5.

Who doesn't love VeggieTales? Wholesome, check; clean, check; good values, check; and most importantly: teaches children about God, check! Most cartoon shows and movies will eventually let you down in some way or fashion; however, this has never happened when it comes to this wonderful show.

This beautiful, wonderful storybook is jammed packed with multiple Veggie stories! When we were shopping at Lifeway Christian Store, my son ran up to us with this book and we couldn't resist him wanting a book on his favorite characters. You cannot go wrong when choosing a VeggieTales book, they are all full of amazing stories!

Bob the Tomato, Larry the Cucumber, and all their friends share the stories of the Bible in a new and creatively unique way. Children will be completely entertained while learning how the stories of the Bible are relevant to their modern lives. Parents will love that their children have a new set of role models that actually understands and connects to children.

Veggie Tales Bible Storybook includes 21 stories from both the Old and New Testament. Each story is prompted by a particular situation that one of the Veggie Tales crew experiences such as dealing with a bully, being jealous of a sibling, wanting tons of presents, etc. This incident leads into a themed tale, from wild west themes to star wars, based loosely on a Bible story. The Veggie Tales characters are the stars of the show. These renditions tend to be quite entertaining in and of themselves. More importantly though, they make use of what children already know from movies and modern media and connect them to Biblical stories. Each Veggie Tale finishes up with the real Bible story and then follows up with the original lesson of the story as the characters as talk about what they learned.

Veggie Tales Bible Storybook will quickly become a family favorite that book parents and children will equally enjoy. An innovative, fun way to teach morals to children.

This was put together so perfectly. I love the way the author chose to lay it out. With special messages directed toward kids followed by a Veggie story, actual Bible story references and key Scripture verses for memory work, it worked. The illustrations were spectacular. Well done!
