Thoughts: I simply couldn't get enough of this book! I've only read a couple of books by this author - so far, anyway - and they have all left me shaking my head and wondering how in the world I have missed reading her books for so long! I literally am shaking my head in disbelief, because out of all the ones I have read, they have all been novella length. I can't wait to see what she manages to do with a full length one!

I am a complete sucker for the guy falling in love with his best friend's sister....even more so when they are friends themselves! I also love when both characters have a thing for each other and are just waiting for circumstances to bring them together. I wish it had been longer, and I am going to be hard pressed to find another book that I will enjoy half as much as this one! Can't wait to read more form this amazing author!

This book had two short stories in it. The first one is the longer of the two.

First story: Tempting the Witness

Madison Dubois is a witness to an attempted murder and after going to the police, she goes to the house of her brother's best friend, Rafe Jackson. Rafe is a police officer and the object of her desires.

Finding madison hiding at his house is unnerving for him but he's really just grateful she's safe. He arranges for her to stay with him until the case was solved.

This was a cute and hot little story. It had all the elements: attraction, suspense, hot sex and love.

Second story: Better Late Than Never

Randall Phillips is an architect in his father's firm and he's been waiting anfd wanting for Lindsay Taylor. Lindsay is a secretary at the same firm. She was recently injured and finally back at work.

Whe she got hurt, he took her to the hospital and waited for someone to come for her. During that wait, they share a hot kiss, a kiss Randall can't forget. Neither can Lidsay but she knows it was a mistake because they work together. Randall gives her a ride home on her first day back because he wants more. More kisses surely but more everything also.

This story was super short but okay. The sex was hot but due to the story length it was hard to get invested in the characters. Overall, I enjoyed this book and I really liked the author's voice. I would definately read more by her. This book was classified as erotica but it was more erotic romance to me.

3.25 RATING- A short sexy little story with a dash of suspense. I've read a few of these shorts or novellas by Savannah Stuart and there's never much to work with because of length but I love her damsel in distress stories and she doesn't skimp on the steam. Nice filler books.

There were two erotically charged short stories in this novella from Savannah Stuart. The first one, Tempting Witness, had us following Madison Dubois as she witnesses a man being brutally beaten by three men. When she calls 911, she gets put on hold. Fearing for the man's life, she does something stupid- she announces herself to the three men who are beating the fourth and says that the police are on their way. Then she runs away, with one of the men after her. She manages to fall into a crowd and escape her follower. She heads for the Miami Police station where her older brother's best friend Rafe is a detective there. Madison has had a crush on Rafe since she was little, but she thinks that he thinks of her as a friend. Rafe, on getting wind that Madison is in the building, goes to find out if she's okay. When he hears that Miami's top crime boss is now after her because she witnessed him beating up a waiter, he immediately feels the need to protect her. When Madison leaves the police station without a word, Rafe begins to full on panic. When he arrives home, she's on his doorstep. He invites her to stay with him until the people responsible for beating an innocent man are caught. One thing leads to another and both confess that they have feelings for each other that are far deeper than a brother/sister relationship. This confession leads them straight to bed.
The fact that this was an erotic short story meant (at least to me) that plot wasn't really that important, as long as the main characters wind up in bed and remain there. However, Ms. Stuart was able to keep her plot up (despite the ending being a little too quick and neat), and even introduce a character background. I liked the characters and I'd like to see more written about them in the future.
In the second short story, Better Late Than Never, Randy has been in love with Leslie since she started working for his father's architect firm over a year ago, but he was afraid to make a move. When Leslie is involved in a car accident and breaks her leg, it is Randy who is there for her in the hospital, getting to know her and share one very steamy kiss. Then he doesn't see her again until she comes back to work. The story starts on the day that Leslie comes back to work. As she's leaving, Randy vows to make her his before the night is over. He helps her home, and walks her inside her condo. He then tells her that he wants her. Leslie is shocked because apart from Randy being there for her in the hospital, she was convinced he didn't even like her, much less have romantic feelings for her.
Again, this story was more focused on the bedroom than plot, but there was sufficient background information on the characters that I found myself rooting for them. I just wish that this short story was slightly longer than it was, but when I like characters, I get greedy and I want more.
All in all, these short stories were a very fun, fast read!

This collection brought some much needed heat to my world as the snow piles up outside my frosted windows. Here's the skinny on what happens when two couples fighting attraction end up under the same roof.

Tempting Witness

Madison Dubois & rafe Jackson have know each other for years. He's her brother's BF but since leaving the Marines & becoming a Miami cop, he's kept his distance. Madison owns a bookstore & after locking up one evening, interrupts an assault in a nearby alley. Unfortunately, she's seen by the bad guys. After a string of events, she ends up hiding on Rafe's front porch.
Rafe is aware of what went down that day & is relieved to find her safe. But that quickly turns to nerves as he finally has the woman he's always lusted after actually in his home.
It's a quick read so I don't want to give away any more of the plot. But can I just say how much I appreciate a love/erotic story with a female lead who's NOT a weeping, spineless damsel in distress? Yes, she's in danger but Madison is a smart, successful businesswoman who speaks her mind & doesn't resort to moments of high drama.
Rafe is suitably hunky & comes across as a decent, hard working guy whose tough exterior hides a soft side, especially where Madison is concerned. These are two mature adults so no games or teenage angst, thank God! As for the sex....well. despite the weather outside, you might want to jumpstart the AC. It's a great little escape with better writing than many full length novels I've read.

Better Late Than Never

This is a very short story, about 50 pages on my Kindle. Lindsay Taylor is an architecture student who's been getting work experience at a large firm for the past year. She's also spent that time trying to ignore Randy Phillips, her boss' son. It hasn't been that difficult since, until recently, he barely noticed her.
But 6 weeks ago she ended up in hospital after an accident & it was Randy who visited, making sure she had everything she needed. And something she didn't...one perfect, smokin' kiss.
On her first day back, Randy appears to ferry her home. He's been fighting his feelings for a year. Lindsay has dodged his calls since leaving hospital & he's done waiting. If she thinks he will just drop her off, she can think again.
You can probably see where this is going & you get to sit back and watch the sparks (and clothes...) fly.
If you didn't heed my advice above regarding the AC, do it now.

This collection also includes a sneak peek at "Taming the Alpha". I'd never read this author before & really enjoyed her smart dialogue & well rounded characters who are in adult situations & act like it.
For $3, it's the perfect package for sampling a new author or just taking a short but steamy, romantic break at the end of a long say.

Rafe has had feelings for his best friends sister for a long time, and when she finds herself in need of Detective Rafe, he won´t be able to resist to help with more than just protection.
Madison became witness to something that is threatening her life, and all though she´s reluctant to go near Rafe since he´s so tempting, he is the one who can help. Undeniable feelings and lust all over the place.
Smutty fluff, action and a demanding Alpha.
Bonus story - Randall sees his chance to finally get the truth from Lindsay, why she´s been hiding since their kiss.
Smutty fluff and a quick read.

Tempting Trouble actually featured two previously published stories, one a novella, Tempting Witness, and the other, Better Late than Never, a short story. These books are not related and can be read as stand alone stories. Since both were so short it was difficult to really get involved with the characters. However, both stories made up for it with their heated scenes. Great for a quick afternoon read.

When Madison see three guys beating up a young man, the only person she knows who will protect is Rafe. Rafe is a cop and has been attracted to Madison for years. There is a leak in the department and Rafe keeps her with him until they find out who it is.
Lots of sex, friends who become lovers, and a good short story.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
This is a really short story. Lindsey is studying to be an architect and working too. She was in a car accident and her boss's son comes running. They kissed once but she's been avoiding him since. Randy works for his father's architect firm and has been attracted to Lindsey since he first met her. He insists on taking her home so they can talk. But talking isn't what happens. They finally give in to their urges and have sex. Randy doesn't want just one time but he has to convince her.
Good really short story. If you like sex. Because that's all it's about.

Novella length with a nice amount of steam, these two stories are bite size fillers when you're short on time.

TEMPTING WITNESS

Madison witnesses a crime and hides out at Rafe's home until the culprits can be caught. Feelings and sizzling attraction are exposed in tight quarters, leaving these two wondering just how well they actually knew each other.

Rafe oozed protective charm and I liked Madison's sassy personality. The suspense bit read like an afterthought, but gave a nice jumping board to prod Rafe into expressing his feelings to Madison. Good read.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

Randy had been attracted to Lindsay for the entire year she's worked for his company, but he doesn't express his feelings until she's injured and he sweeps in to the rescue.

The story was a short, sexy romp. Overall, this was a fun read, alothough I do wish it had been longer to get a better feel for the characters.

Great short stories..

Tempting Witness

Good story. Race is a cop who's had his eye on his best friends sister for a while now, but would never consider making a move. When Madison witnesses a crime and only trusts Rafe to keep her safe, they both will have more to deal with than the bad guys.- Rafe and Madison can't cope with being in close quarters long,my he sex is hot, and makes all those dormant feelings come to life.

Better Late Than Never

Randall has been lusting after Lindsay for a year. After a scorching kiss, she's been avoiding him, but now he's got her right where he wants her..in bed screaming his name. Yep, this book is pure sex..loved it.

Two short stories in one. The chemistry between Madison and Rafe was real but there really wasn't much attention put on the story that got them together. She witnessed a mugging/beating that involved a drug lord. The end result, saw mugging, went to police, crooked cop caught, turns on drug lord,Rafe and Madison happy.Second SHORT story no story at all. I enjoy her paranormal books more

I have to be honest that this book is something I will never enjoy. It lacks plot and purpose.

I think it’s just written to promote lust and pleasure. the erotic scenes would have been fine of there was something to it more than that but every page just revolves arund that element.

Hence, the one star rating.

Two novellas in one book, the first story is the longest.

I would have liked more substance/story as it all seemed to be about sex, and I love a good sex scene! If your looking for a sexy read give it a go.

Tempting enough...

Short, sweet and to the point. Rafe and Madison's chemistry is off the charts in steamy Miami. This novella is packed with sensual sexual tension as Madison hides out from one of Miami's most wanted - a drug dealing pimp while Rafe has to set aside his inner demons of being with the "forbidden fruit" Madison, who just happens to be his best friend's little sister. Predictable but likeable with a HEA everyone can live with.

Tempting Trouble by Savannah Stuart

This book is a novella and a short story featuring two different couples. They are not connected in any way so they can easily be read as stand alones.

Tempting Witness

Flames 4
Stars 3.5

Detective Rafe Jackson has had a crush on his best friends little sister Madison Dubois for years. When she witnesses a crime he takes her to his house to keep her safe. Madison has always thought that Rafe saw her as a little sister so she is surprised when he kisses her.

This is a novella so we don’t get too much depth in the characters or story line. I did enjoy this story. It was pretty light and quick as well as fairly predictable. That being said the sex between Madison and Rafe was pretty hot and each scene was different and exciting to read. There wasn’t a lot to the plot of this story, the crime Madison witnesses puts her in a position to stay at Rafe’s house and other than a few conversations between Rafe and his Captain, it mainly revolves around his and Madison’s relationship. We get a miniscule glimpse at Madison’s brother who is Rafe’s best friend but don’t’ learn anything much about him.

I liked Rafe and Madison as a couple. I did agree with Rafe’s internal monologue that he was a bit of a p***y (his word) since he had had a huge crush on Madison for years and never approaches her. He’s worried that hit will ruin his relationship with her family, make his best friend mad, ect. It was about time he manned up and did something about his feelings. We do get an epilogue (yay!) so we get a small look into their future but it’s barely more than a page. I would have liked a bit more there.

Better Late than Never

Stars 3
Flames 4

Randy Phillips has been watching the receptionist at his fathers firm for over a year when she has a car accident that sends her to the hospital. When he goes to see her he keeps her company and they get to know each other better before sharing a hot kiss. Then she ignores him for six weeks while she is recuperating. On her first day back he finagles a way to take her home and confronts her about what happened.

This is a short so we don’t get much in regards to plot but we do get a hot sex scene. There is the basic set up then lust takes over when they are at her place and sex ensues. It was very nicely done with moments of character info so we didn’t feel like we are reading about two strangers. There are also a few paragraphs at the end that wrap things up nicely. Overall a well written hot short.

Tempting Trouble

Tempting Witness: When Madison was witness to a severe beating, she ran to her brother's best friend, Detective Rafe Jackson for protection. She's always known she can count on Rafe, but the last time she saw him, he created quite a stir with her date and she just can't understand why he'd be like that. Rafe has always been attracted to his best friend's little sister, Madison. He's always held back because the family has always meant so much to him. When Madison shows up on his doorstep, he knows he'll always protect her, but can he keep his attraction under wraps in such close quarters?

I adored Tempting Trouble from the first word right through to the very last. This story is as sexy as it gets and Rafe's actions and words will melt your heart immediately. This is my kind of story and Rafe is so much the perfect hero, he'll pretty much blind you to the heroine. Except for the sex scenes. Then you'll just be wishing YOU were the heroine (lol)! It's erotic, sensual, and very descriptive. Ms. Stuart is my new favorite author and I'll be knocking everyone down to get to her next book (okay, I won't really knock anyone down, maybe just push a little…lol). I loved it, loved it, loved it! Tempting Trouble is a KEEPER for sure!

Better Late Than Never: Lindsay had been in an accident and Randy, her boss's son stayed by her side at the hospital. Randy has wanted Lindsay since she first started at his father's company. He kissed her at the hospital and since she's been home, she's been avoiding him, not answering his calls. Now that she's back to work, Randy doesn't intend to give her any more time to ignore him. He's going to make sure she knows they're perfect for each other…and then he plans to take her to bed to prove it!

After Tempting Witness, the first story in this book, my expectations were so high, I had a little trouble getting into the second story, Better Late Than Never, as completely as the first. With that being said, it was still a delightful story, with great characters. The hero and heroine were honest, straightforward, and when it came right down to it, completely let go with each other in bed. Randy was not only protective, but loving and let Lindsay know exactly what he was always thinking. They're an adorable couple and it was a great bonus story!

Tempting Trouble by Savannah Stuart (AKA Katie Reuss) is one of those stories that reminds us that love is almost always closer than you think.

Madison Dubois is on her way home from work when she witnesses a horrible crime. Of course because the police were umm busy, she calls attention to herself and tries to stop the crime. Good heart, bad idea. Once she realizes that this is pretty serious stuff she goes to the only safe haven she can think of.. her brother's best friend and current cop.. Detective Rafe Jackson.

Detective Rafe Jackson has had his eyes on Madison for a long time, too long. But of course she is off limits. When she turns to him to keep her safe he is unsure how he will manage to keep his hands off of her.

A fast sweet read full of action and tension. These two characters intertwine beautifully. Each one slowly pulling out their hopes, dreams and fantasies until they walk into a relationship with open eyes. Wonderfully done.

Villains abound and for a Novella.. this story packed a powerful punch. Not only do we get a look into the dynamics of a beautiful relationship, we see fast paced action, corruption and finally justice.

And if that's not enough, we get a treat in a second short story at the back of the book. Which was a nice read but I would have preferred more of Madison and Rafe..

Story 2: Better Late Than Never (bonus short story)

For the past year Randall Phillips has kept his distance from sexy Lindsay Taylor. When she’s in a car accident, everything is put into perspective and he throws all his rules out the window. Tempting Trouble is a set of two stories, the novella Tempting Witness and the short story Better Late than Never. Either one of them is really good, sexy, with nice characters and with a high temperature.

Tempting Witness is the story of Madison and Rafe. They have known each other for most of their life, her brother's best friend, Rafe, has always been the subject of Madison's fantasies. His friend's little sister has become in a wonderful woman. Both have thought about the other in a "more than friends" way. However, is not up until she witnesses a serious crime that fate brings them together.

Being a novella there is no much time for developing tridimensional characters, however, there are a few glimpses of past events to create a more complete story. Is easy to imagine why Rafe stayed away from her and why now seems the perfect time to make a move. I didn’t like much Madison mainly because she goes from never having sex to this really sexual person. I can understand that maybe she never found the right partner before but for me if she was a virgin or not wasn't a big difference for the story.

The story moves really fast (maybe because of the length or just because is what the author intended) and there is no relevant tension, present in many erotic books. Yet the scenes are so good that you can skip the fact that they get together after a few pages.

Each scene brings something new and exciting. They are well written, they have a good rhythm and the author creates a sexy atmosphere without being cheap or trashy.

The short story, Better Late than Never, is a good bonus. Despite the short length is easy to see where the characters are standing and the story flows naturally. This story does have a bit of tension and the temperature starts rising from the first word. Again the sex scenes are well written and are easy to read.

Overall, Tempting Trouble is an easy and entertaining book to read. It won’t take much of your time but it surely will leave you pleased if you like this type of stories.

Tempting Trouble is two stories in one. Nether have anything to do with each other and can be read as there own short stories.

Tempting Witness
This is Madison and Rafe's story. They have known each other most their lives, Rafe has always been attracted to Madison but never acted on it seeing as she was his best friends little sister.

When Madison witnesses something she is thrown into a world of danger and runs to Rafe for help. I felt like the story was kind of a rushed one but it is short so I can see why they had to do that.

One min she is there for protection the next she is giving up her V card without even telling him. It goes from there in a hot and heavy way.

I kept waiting for something to happened, I mean she was in so much danger and scared for her life but nothing ever happened. It was all happily ever after and I kinda felt like there should have been more to the story.

It did have so very hot scenes between the two of them but I guess I just wanted more.....I felt like it was missing that edge to make it a great book.

Better Late Then Never
This was a much shorter but then the first probable about 50 pages. It went from 0 to 100 in like 5 mins. This is a book for you if you are wanting a fast hot and steamy book. Lindsey works at a architecture company. Randy is the owners son. They know each other a year and Randy fights his attraction. Lindsey gets into a car accident and he decides not to fight ti any more they share a heated kiss and then she ignores him for 6 weeks.

Well he is not having any of that a pushes her to see why she is running scared. It goes from there to a HOT HOT HOT place. All in all its a short story to get your blood pumping. I felt this one was better then the 1st book but that just because like I said I felt the first one needed more. It was such a good story line it just needed more to be great.

This book contains two short and fast erotic romances that tease the reader with red hot sizzling passion.

Tempting Witness: After witnessing a terrible crime, Madison Dubois, runs to the only person she knows she can trust to keep her safe, Detective Rafe Jackson. Rafe has been in love with Madison for longer than he cares to admit and when she shows up on his doorstep, he has to keep her safe even while the sparks starts flying.

Better Late Than Never: Because he’s in management, Randall Phillips has kept his distance from Lindsey Taylor, but when she’s in a car accident, he throws the rules out the door. Only Lindsey has been avoiding him since the hospital but now that she’s back at work, he’s not going to let her get away with that any more.

Tempting Witness is a fast paced plot with lots of suspense, romance, red hot sex and great characters that grabs the reader’s attention and doesn’t let go until the very end. The attraction between Madison and Rafe burns hot enough to scorch the reader and the frequent sex scenes make the reader burn even hotter. The suspense builds more tension and adds depth to this enjoyable story. The bonus story is an extra spicy tease that sizzles with steamy passion and sex. Both stories are brought to life with vivid images and intense details and the author makes it feel as if the reader is part of the stories.

While I think they are both really short teases, they are very enjoyable ones that stimulate the senses and give the reader a delicious taste of happily ever after romance.

This book just didn't do it for me. I was interested by the synopses; the girl in trouble hiding out with her brother's best friends/cop because she was in danger. And yes that all happened, but the storyline just wasn't there.

Tempting Trouble- Tempting Witness: I was interested when the book started. For a novella, the details story was set up quickly which I really liked. Madison witnessed a crime and was seen by the aggressor which put her in danger. Rafe, a long time family friend vowed to protect her at his house while they figured out how to keep her safe. Rafe was in love with Madison and Madison was in love with Rafe, but neither party knew their true feelings. They both assumed the other saw them as more of a sibling than a lover. That all changed when they slept together.

The plot line seemed to stop when they got together. From about that point on the book turned into just sex and the story about her danger because a passing point that was summed up in a couple of sentences. I felt there should have been more balance with the story and the love scenes. I also felt this story lacked dialog. There was some talking, but just not enough for this story to keep me intrigued.

The second book in Tempting Trouble - Better Late Than Never, was just so short there is not much to cover. This story also lacked dialog between the characters so their story just wasn't believable to me. I didn't connect with their characters or their relationship.

Tempting Trouble includes two short but addictive stories of the erotic/romantic genre.
Story One: Tempting Witness
The story of Madison and her brother's best friend Rafe. When Madison witnesses a crime and ends up in danger herself, she leans on Rafe for support and the two develop a romantic relationship.
Overall I really enjoyed this first story. I could feel the connection between the two main characters. They were friends long before the story began so an emotional connection was already established apart from the romantic one that developed. Rafe already cared about Madison a great deal and she clearly felt comfortable around him. Things went from friendly to steamy pretty quickly but it still didn't feel rushed or unrealistic.
Story Two: Better Late Than Never
Lindsay works for an architecture firm and Randy is the owners son who has felt an attraction for Lindsay since they first met. Lindsay gets into a bad accident and Randy is by her side to help out. Lindsay pushes him away but then relents when she realizes how much he means to her.
This story was much shorter than the first but just as intriguing. This is definitely satisfying if a short but steamy read is what you're looking for. This was a bonus story so it wasn't lengthy but was still enjoyable.
Both of these stories were well written and kept my interest. I would recommend this book to other readers.

I knew going into this novella that it was on the shorter end of stories, and that it was actually 2 novellas in one book. However after reading these books, I feel unsatisfied on a few different levels.
With the first story, I thought there was a great story there that it actually could have become a longer book by itself. There was enough action and suspense going on that could have carried the story even farther than it was.
Madison, I did enjoy her character. She knew what she wanted and went after it. And in the case of this book it was Rafe she wanted. Rafe, I don’t really have any feelings towards him besides complete bewilderment. His personality seemed to change drastically towards the end of the book and I was left shaking my head at him.
The bonus story is the one that had left me completely unhappy after finishing it because it felt like a story that was starting in the middle. And even worse than that, there was no real ending to the story either. You are left wondering what the heck was going on.
I have read other books by this author in the past, and I am upset that this is one of the stories that I just couldn’t really get into. I will continue to look into books from the author in the future however. This book didn’t sway me off them completely.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley.

Story 1: Tempting Witness
Madison has known Rafe since she was a small child. As her big brothers best friend she has had a few fantasies but never imagined he would think of her that way. Rafe has been watching Madison from afar for a long time. He's kept his distance even as his feelings have grown but now that Madison is in danger nothing will keep her from him! This was a super sexy read with some very sweet moments as well. I almost could have seen this one as a full length novel but it wraps up really nicely :)

Story 2: Better Late Than Never (a short bonus story)
Randy has watched Lindsay from a far since she started working at his fathers firm. He's always wanted her but it took her accident to finally push him into action. Not someone accustom to hearing "no" Randy is taken aback when Lindsay cuts him off after only one kiss! Lindsay really wants Randy but is afraid to mix business with pleasure. Randy must use his dominant personality to show Lindsay they were meant to be together! This on was very quick but equally hot! I did wonder what the future had in store for these two characters

Thanks so much to the author for the opportunity to read this book :)

Tempting Witness

When Madison Dubois heads out for a girls night, she discovers something around the corner that will change her life. As a witness to a crime, Madison seeks refuge in the arms of Rafe Jackson. Rafe has always been a family friend. Both have hidden feeling they have for one another. When circumstances surrounding the crime throw them together, the attraction they feel for each other can no longer be ignored. Keeping Madison alive is Rafe’s first priority, but where will their relationship go now that they let their attraction explode.

Better Late Than Never

Keeping a professional relationship with his coworkers has been at the top of the list for Randall. Fighting an instant attraction for Lindsay has taken its toll. After she has and accident and finds herself needing help, Randall steps up to the job. However, during a ‘weak moment’ he cannot fight his feelings, and lets them be known to Lindsay. Will she reject him? Or does she possibly feel the same thing for him?

This combination of stories from Savannah Stuart are sexy and to the point. If you are not familiar with Savannah’s work, then this is the story for you. These are quick reads that leave a smile on your face, but warm up your thoughts!!
